Reviews for Abba Fonseca
Review 1:A couple of minor issues with cleanliness, had to ask for tissue paper and shower cap (should be provided automatically in a 4-star hotel) and then not replaced the next day. One night we had very noisy neighbors throughout the night and early morning -- complained to reception but nothing happened.
Review 2:Very spacious room, good wifi, quiet for the most part. Good location.
Review 3:A very small quibble but would be nice to have tea/coffee making fascilities in rooms, otherwise nothing.
Review 4:Stayed here many times. Good size comfortable clean rooms with views. Safe parking in their underground car park. Very good breakfast. Close easy walking to all visiting sites
Review 5:Car park very full and difficult to park. Staff in bar, restaurant and at reception very unsmiling, help and interested.
Review 6:Great location and good room.
Review 7:Finding the car park and then parking in it is a bit of a challenge, but worth the hassle.
Review 8:Good sized rooms and helpful staff in a location 10 minutes from town made this a great location. Good breakfast facilities
Review 9:Room service not 24hrs - only a minor gripe, but arriving at midnight we couldn't order any food. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room - normal for Europe.
Review 10:The room was very clean and well maintained. Lovely views. Most staff spoke a little English which was helpful. Good breakfast choice. Ideal location near to Plaza Mayor.
Review 11:Very nice hotel in a good location for town, good safe parking, nice restaurant and bar area, outdoor seating, nice breakfast. Staff very helpful. Nice room and bathroom with views.
Review 12:Breakfast was only average. No restaurants very close. Gym opened at 10am!
Review 13:Good car parking and easy to find (via car), comfortable and spacious room. Our room faced the inner light well, so was very quiet. Efficient and friendly staff.
Review 14:It feels a bit old, even if all the facilities where in good condition. Access to the hotel by car is hard to find. Most people stop the car on the closest street (on double parking because it's nearly impossible to find a place close by) and then carry the bags to the hotel, which is not at all practical. Parking on the area around the hotel is paid.
Review 15:The room was spacious and the hotel is in walking distance of the town centre where the Catedral and other points of interest are located.
Review 16:Although the breakfast choices were good we thought the cost was excessive.
Review 17:The position of the hotel in relation to the rest of the town was very good. It was only a shot walk to the Plaza Mayor. The restaurant for an evening meal and breakfast had wide-ranging choices. The garage was easily accessible. We upgraded to a room with a balcony which was well worth the extra cost. The staff were very polite and attentive and quick to respond when we experienced a problem with our in-room safe. We highly recommend this hotel.
Review 18:Avoided breakfast. I am sure it was good but expensive and got a cheap adequate one in a nearby cafe
Review 19:Fabulous location, fabulous view ( although paid more for the view). Useful when driving as car park underneath hotel although had to pay extra for this. Location good for getting in and out of the city as on the edge of the old city. Comfy beds and very clean. Large rooms
Review 20:Whole floor carpet Bathroom door had got moisture and was not working properly
Review 21:Spacious room Good beds and pillows, we slept really good Beautiful views
Review 22:There was a festival going on in the city which severely restricted road access to the hotel. Street noise late at night night because of the festival. Poor Wi-Fi access.
Review 23:Our room was spacious and well equipped with fantastic views over the city. Buffet breakfast was good with lots of choice
Review 24:Unfortunately the breakfast was too expensive for us. It would have been nice to have had a box of tissues in the room and where was the swimming pool?-you can't have everything! This place is very good but someone should get the graffitti off the city walls in Salamanca...anti graffitti paint is available!!
Review 25:This hotel turned out to be ideal for us as we needed to explore the city on foot. Our room was very quiet and large and the central location was perfect. The staff were very pleasant.I will certainly consider Abba hotels in the future. A plan of the parking garage would have been useful!!
Review 26:Only minor things. Room smelt slightly of smoke and the plumbing had aslight smell of cabbage but not a problem. Cafe and restaurant couldhave been brightened up with soft music or a few plants.
Review 27:The staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. The rooms werespacious and well designed with 2 comfortable arm chairs and table, adesk and chair and a very comfortable bed. Although parking cost 16euros a night it was worth it because it was easily accessible and youcould take your luggage into the reception from the car park.
Review 28:- Abba Fonseca is the typical business hotel without any personality - Internet was free, but squeezed down to low bit rates
Review 29:Everything was OK. - large room - large bathroom - airco worked well, but was noisy
Review 30:They cater a lot for weddings so can be noisy especially on a Saturday night, especially if your room is above the reception area.
Review 31:Excellent location 5 minuetes from the plaza major. Clean spacious room and ensuite with wide range of toiletries. Staff friendly and spoke good English.
Review 32:Thin walls between rooms- noise from next door guests coming in during the night.
Review 33:wonderful location and views; spacious bedroom
Review 34:very good size rooms. Perfect location and also quiet
Review 35:Lovely building in a beautiful location
Review 36:unable to get simple meal of hot food before 20.30 air con to old to deal with very warm night
Review 37:Perfect location with a great view of the city. Easy access to undercover parking. Superb room and great reception. Plaza Mayor very nearby.
Review 38:Poor breakfast and weddings on both nights meant noise until 3am
Review 39:Nice room
Review 40:Great location with onsite parking, easy walking to the old town
Review 41:Location, modern and room big

Review 46:Lovely building. Spacious rooms. Onsite parking
Review 47:nothing
Review 48:Beautiful and spacious hotel room. Comfortable beds. Very central location for exploring Salamanca. Good service!

Review 51:The location is good, service is excellent. Hotel is really nice. Private parking

Review 60:Proximity to city
Review 61:Location, breakfast and friendly
Review 62:we had a room with a fantastic view of the university. location of the hotel allows you to walk to all the historical sites. very quiet location.
Review 63:location and charm and fabulous view out of windows
Review 64:We loved the view from our room. Staff was very professional, helpful and friendly. Place is clean and comfortable.
Review 65:Hotel needs a refurbishment. Staff don't engage with customers. Breakfast an eye watering 15 euros
Review 66:Location Wifi Parking on site
Review 67:No hot water pot in the room
Review 68:Location, facilities
Review 69:Only a five minute walk to heart of city, Mayor Square.
Review 70:Location, unbeatible city views, breakfast, comfort, cleanliness.
Review 71:Book a room on the third floor with a view - it's worth it as the view is fabulous, by day and floodlit at night. The location is quiet but within easy walking distance of the Plaza Mayor and the other sights of Salamanca.
Review 72:The breakfast is the worse of any hotel we stay at. Cold, congealed sausages, eggs etc. although when i complained the cheff did make me fresh scrambled eggs.we have stayed at this hotel many times and now skip breakfast.
Review 73:Excellent location. Secure car park.
Review 74:Loud soccer match on T.V. in adjacent bar, while having dinner next door in the hotel dining room. Long walk to major tourist sites.
Review 75:Front desk staff, parking garage, and room with view of Cathedral. Spacious bedroom and bath.
Review 76:Ample private car parking facility but somewhat expensive at 16 euros/day. No tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom.
Review 77:The location ideal for exploring the city. Very courteous, friendly and obliging staff. Spacious bedrooms and very clean. Quiet and relaxing location. Lounge and bar area spacious and comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in returning here again.
Review 78:After a hard days walking we decide to eat in the hotel. We were the only people in the dining room and we were not impressed by the food.
Review 79:I don't remember the room number, but on the corner of the top floor with excellent views over the city. A wedding reception was being held and the noise/music? was well handled.
Review 80:Good motor cycle friendly hotel Secure underground car/bike parking space . Clean tidy , no issues for night stay if travelling with group. Good stop over enroute Spain to France
Review 81:The position is good, about 15 min. walking from the main historical buildings. Staff was helpful and friendly. We were allowed to leave the car in their private garage till late afternoon, even after the checkout time.
Review 82:I only ate in the hotel once: a late-night snack. The staff were friendly and efficient, but the sandwich I ordered was pretty awful. I might have just been unlucky, but the menu wasn't very interesting either.
Review 83:The best thing about the hotel, I think, is the location. It's on the periphery of the old town, but walking from there to anywhere in the center is very easy. It's on a plaza and the views of the city from the upper floors are stupendous at night.
Review 84:kind of far from center of town and no restaurants close by. Room smelled like cigarettes. Shower leaks water on the floor. Way over priced for what you get. I would definitely look somewhere else for the money.
Review 85:WiFi. Parking available underneath but it costs about $20/night
Review 86:Hot breakfast was not even warm it was cold.
Review 87:Good sized room with excellent view of the cathedral. Only five minute walk to either cathedral or Plaza Mayor. Because of thunderstorm we ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, good value 3-course plus wine & water for 24 Euros.
Review 88:The hotel is a little bit outside town, so always need to walk to get a drink, shopping or food. The plus side is that it's quiet at night. The bathroom was not properly clean at any point of my 6-night stay.
Review 89:The room was extremely spacious and the hotel is located in a very quiet part of the town. The bus station is fairly close, so that's convenient, too.
Review 90:Dinner one evening, food not particularly good and nor was the service. Breakfast ok but too expensive.
Review 91:View was wonderful (paid extra for it) Location Comfortable room
Review 92:Hotel garage is somewhat expensive. Wi-fi is good but it drops off automatically if unused for more than 5-10 minutes, you have to relog-on every time, a bit annoying...
Review 93:Excellent comfort and location, very good breakfast, nice restaurant. 5 minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor, spectacular views of the Cathedral, unrivalled!
Review 94:Attitude of receptionist on arrival Poor English language capability of staff Poor telephone manner (cut off by staff) Car parking was either at front at cost or at garage in hotel but we weren't told about the facility Difficulty if finding hotel by car
Review 95:Location for sightseeing in Salamanca Quality and cleanliness of fittings and rooms
Review 96:The staff is not very friendly and does not really work well - they were supposed to leave me a message and I never got it... You have to tell reception 30 min in advanced in case you want to use sauna and jacuzzi. Breakfast expensive.
Review 97:Big rooms. Clean. Location is good. The jacuzzi and the sauna. Great to relax.
Review 98:1. We had breakfast inclusive deal. However the kind of food were really limited and simple. A few kinds of fruits, a cheese, a jamon and bread. It was definitely not restaurant of 5 star hotel. 2. And it would be great if we could get more info how to get to the hotel from train station.
Review 99:1. The view from the room 312, was really fascinating. 2. My sister and I traveled with 3 years old child so we had to ask some inconvenient favors. The staffs were quite helpful.
Review 100:Room lacked tea/coffee facilities, and more specifically bath robe and slippers not least to go to the spa/Turkish bath where there was no changing room.
Review 101:Excellent location with fantastic view over historic part of the city. Extremely comfortable beds in spacious room with blackouts. Breakfast with good choice.
Review 102:Our neighbors were several families traveling together. They kept their doors open so people could come and go at-will. We called the front desk and within 20 minutes or so all doors were closed. This, however, made it worse because that did not stop them, they still moved around opening and closing doors until early morning. Our son said “Now you know how life is at my dorm.”
Review 103:Excellent! The building itself is marvelous, very old but has been renovated. There is parking on the back which is very convenient. The beds and beddings were very comfortable. Both bedroom and bathroom were spacious and efficient. We arrived fairly late so the restaurant was already closed but the bar and the kitchen were open. We each had a fish soup that we are still talking about it.
Review 104:Great hotel with excellent location in the city center, near thehistoric zone. Large and comfortable rooms with a small balcony and niceviews to the Cathedral.
Review 105:Nothing bad to say
Review 106:This is such a great hotel. The location is so central, they have excellent secure parking. The facilities at the hotel are excellent and the staff efficient and friendly. Highly recommended
Review 107:Nothing.
Review 108:Have stayed here several times and find the hotel ideal for location and cleanliness and of course secure parking. Restaurant serves excellent evening meals and breakfast is very adequate. Have also stayed in the Abba Burgos.
Review 109:Air conditioning hardly worked, not too bad middle of september, must beawful in summer. Unable to open window due to excessive street lighting.Curtains not blackout curtains, therefore room remained quite light dueto outside lighting. Coffee lukewarm, expensive breakfast at 13.5 euros,no yoguart, again luke warm eggs, in fact don't bother withbreakfast!
Review 110:Lovely room, beautiful view, excellent location. Easy to find parkingnear hotel.
Review 111:The room we had was quite spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was certainly worth it. The staff were efficient and kind without being intrusive. The location is also quite good as the hotel is practically in the old part of town but the surrounding area is quiet and one would not be disturbed by party goers or noise during the night.
Review 112:The wi-fi, although free, was very slow and restricted. The food at dinner was not very good and the barman was truly miserable!
Review 113:Fantastic hotel, very clean and comfortable with a really good bathroom. Buffet breakfast was good, with plenty of choice.
Review 114:The staff at reception were not very welcoming (no eye-contact).
Review 115:We liked the hotel's location, very close to all the sights (less than a 5-minute walk) but away from the crowds. The beds were very wide and comfortable. We got an excellent deal and so very good value for money.
Review 116:the car parking is horrendous to park in to many slots in to small a site.it is also very dear.the staff were not helpful & seemed to think their clients were a trouble too there own comfort.i would not stat there again
Review 117:the rooms are large & comfortable.the closeness to the tourist sites.
Review 118:Disabled bays in the garage were located furthest from the underground entrance to the hotel. Cost of parking.
Review 119:Comfort of room. Location and views from hotel. Grand appearance of hotel.
Review 120:Nothing
Review 121:Stayed for 2 separate nights only on way by car to and from Algarve. Everything about this hotel was perfect, located 5-10 minutes walk from old town, large comfortable rooms, secure parking, friendly staff, excellent buffet style breakfast. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Review 122:The continental breakfast was expensive - the same can be bought in many little snack bars outside the hotel for just a few euros.
Review 123:Hotel was very comfortable and very central for visiting the many city sights and historical buildings, not to mention the many excellent restaurants and bars.
