Reviews for Parador de Salamanca

Review 1:Even though we had a non smoking room it stank of stale cigarette smoke. When I complained to the front desk the receptionist shrugged and said that its a regular occurrence that guests refuse a smoking room and then smoke in the non smoking ones. The hotel just seem to accept this and so they weren't at all bothered by the complaint! Definitely would not stay here again.

Review 2:Fantastic views of Salamanca from the hotel especially at night. Tasting menu in their restaurant well worth a try.

Review 3:nothing

Review 4:The view of the old city from the panoramic windows behind the reception area, together with the comfort of the bedroom. Free parking is an added bonus.

Review 5:Another review didn't like it because it isn't quaint which is true but that palls next to convenient location and quality of the rooms.

Review 6:A beautiful hotel with a spectacular view of Salamanca. Good breakfast and dinner.

Review 7:No concierge to help with bags. The one lift was small & not adequate for the size of the hotel. A 20 min walk to the old town.

Review 8:The staff on the front desk were good.Free parking.

Review 9:The gym is limited to three pieces of equipment. No exercise bike.

Review 10:Comfort. Beautiful view. Exquisite decoration. Plwasant staff. Very good breakfasr buffet.

Review 11:Hairdryer was typical. I'd prefer a higher power one.

Review 12:Location terrific to walk to town and ease of highway access. Staff friendly enough, breakfast was well worth it. Room was large clean and comfortable. We didn't splurge for the view and really didn't need it. The lobby and restaurant have it

Review 13:Nothing to dislike but I would have liked an older building

Review 14:A good quality hotel with high standards. As you might expect from a new building it has an international feeling. Secure parking was an essential requirement. Also hotel came highly recommended by other family members

Review 15:When asking to book a table in the restaurant the man on reception made it quite plan I was interrupting him and he was very rude.

Review 16:Beautiful hotel very convenient to walk into Salamanca.

Review 17:None at all.

Review 18:Everyone was so easy and pleasant. Parking was never a problem as lot was large. Easy to get around and see everything. Perfect location.

Review 19:Enormous TV in the only bar not what you would expect from this standard hotel Should provide a sports bar Bathroom had lots of cobwebs on ceiling

Review 20:Location Fantastic views over the town

Review 21:A superb hotel with an astonishing view to the Cathedral of Salamanca, 15 minutes walk over the old bridge to the old city and no need to move the car. Large rooms with big bathroom. Good and rich breakfast.

Review 22:Evening meals were poor. First night we ordered steak - medium cooked and it arrived raw. The second night the main course was not what we ordered.

Review 23:Facilities at the hotel

Review 24:The location was extremely good with our bedroom window acting as a frame for the Cathedral, it was beautiful! The staff were polite and helpful. The waiting staff in the restaurant in the evening were extremely good and at times entertaining .

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:The view from our room overlooking Salamanca was spectacular. The food and service was one has come to expect in a Parador to a very high standard. Only 10 minutes’ walk across the roman bridge to the city make it a stunning place to stay.

Review 27:Lovely well run hotel. Very clean and light and welcoming. The rooms are very spacious and the whole place is calm and pleasant. Lovely views of the cathedral, and a 10 minute walk into the centre

Review 28:Very convenient for the heart of Salamanca yet far enough away to be quiet at night. Comfortable room with very efficient room service and friendly staff. The bathroom was a little tired with stains on the grouting but nothing major.

Review 29:The air-condition system needs some improvement. We had to call a staff person to regulate it properly because it was not working.

Review 30:Location, design, view. The center can be reached quickly on foot, so you can enjoy the calm environment of the place and yet be in center city very easily.

Review 31:Some staff were rude and unhelpful, service in the cafe bar in the evening was appalling for a so called luxury hotel.

Review 32:Good position within walking distance of Salamanca city centre with historic sites. Lovely rooms, good facilities breakfast was good.

Review 33:See above about meal.

Review 34:Lovely reception area & helpful staff. Secure parking. Lovely room. One negative the not inexpensive dinner was not very good esp.y ravioli starter, tasteless. But the staff were excellent to a degree I didn't want to send it back.

Review 35:There is a 15 (20) minute walk into town (all pedestrian routes and across a Roman bridge) which might not suit everyone.

Review 36:Good location overlooking the city with a nice pool, plenty of parking and a good restaurant.

Review 37:Our room didn't appear to have been quite ready - the fridge was empty and wasn't plugged in and there were only 2 small towels. We've been at paradors before and know they would have rectified everything very quickly and we didn't mention it.

Review 38:The location, which allowed very easy access to the old city and to paths along the river Tormes for our morning run, the view, the friendly staff at breakfast and much, much more ...

Review 39:We arrived earlier than forecasted and we asked to leave our luggages in the deposit while we visited down-town. Once back later that afternoon we had to bring them ourselves in our rooms. Not really what you expect in a 4 star Hotel! Also the pool side and service is definetely not in line with the rating of the Parador. You have to take by yourself the sunbed (some of them quite old and partially broken) and the WI-FI signal in this area is too poor for a proper service

Review 40:Breakfast here is definetely the most complete we had during our trip. Lot of choice and good quality.

Review 41:Well worth paying to upgrade to a room with a view which was amazing. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 2 nights and had half board - breakfast was plentiful and dinner each night superb. Relaxing around the pool was a huge bonus at this hotel. Wish we had booked a longer stay.

Review 42:Bedroom mats could be refreshed. They detract from an otherwise perfect presentation of cleanliness.

Review 43:Friendliness of staff at all levels and in all areas, particular mention to reception staff who were very helpful.

Review 44:We are in a motorbike holiday, we had a long ride, however I am a paying guest and want to be made to feel welcome; didn't feel it. Also, I booked a double, so I want a double, not to be asked if we are sure we don't want single beds. I know she has just got off the back of a motorcycle but I do want to sleep next to her!!

Review 45:It's a parador! The location was convenient for walking into Salamanca, there was parking in the shade and a little pool and sunbathing area.

Review 46:No bar, no cocktails. Had to pay 30 euros extra for a room with a view, but the windows are so high you only get the view if you stNd up! Staff were coldly efficient.

Review 47:Very clean and quiet

Review 48:Wifi didn't work in our room, although was fine in the lobby.

Review 49:Very comfortable rooms, safe parking and an easy stroll into the old centre of Salamanca. Also only a few minutes from the motorway.

Review 50:The reception staff need training in making eye contact with guests and generally being more helpful and welcoming. I appreciate that they might be on the telephone but keeping guests waiting for 10 minutes with not so much as an acknowledging nod is just basically rude. Their attitude is not welcoming. A shame because the other staff are really friendly and nice. Also boiling hot May and the swimming pool had not been filled!

Review 51:Very comfortable bedroom and view over the cathedral

Review 52:Nothing.

Review 53:This is a great hotel even though it is modern. our room had a superb view over the city to the cathedral and other ancient buildings. It's within an easy walk of the city. Room excellent, food delicious and friendly staff. What's not to like?

Review 54:Great view of the city, try and get room with city view worth the upgrade. Food in restaurant very good. Walk into city about 15-20 mind, cathedral and art deco museum worth a visit. Plaza Major great for people watching.

Review 55:Easy walk into the city from this modern-style Parador. Our room was huge and very comfortable. Good parking and pleasant staff made our stay very enjoyable. Breakfast was good - I even found an unsweetened Greek yogurt at the buffet, my favourite!

Review 56:Price of breakfast is far too high and not worth it! Swimming pool not open until june 1st!! Personnel not friendly at all. One doesn't feel welcome.

Review 57:Location is fantastic and beautiful view over the city. City centre well accessible, a Nice strole over the roman bridge.

Review 58:30+ channels on the TV and only 1 American station that spoke English. With today's tech,it should be possible to add Sky channels .

Review 59:Beautiful parador with great views over Salamanca a great find.

Review 60:Extreme lack of info in the room. Room service? No idea. No instructions on phone so struggled to ring operator/reception. Hard to find the hotel without sat-nav. One tiny bar of soap in bathroom - ridiculous!

Review 61:Looking across to the city from the room was amazing. The room itself was fabulous, big beds, big bathroom. Easy parking. Easy 15 minute walk across the bridge to the old town.

Review 62:The hotel did not respect the check in time. It was set to noon - we arrived half past noon and the room was not ready. We waited another half hour and the desk front still had not got our room ready. She offered a paid upgrade for a city room that we did not accept. Then she tried to convince that a two beds put together had the same confort as a double bed. We opt to accept two beds once it was 1 pm and we wanted to visit the city rather than wait in the lobby. The hotel was not fully booked and if they set check out time to the same time if check in they should be responsable for acomodating the guests. Finally a minir point. It is 15 min walk from city center accross the river.

Review 63:the view from the Parador. The room was clean and spacious and had the amenities you'd expect at a 4 star hotel.

Review 64:The menu in the cafeteria was rather limited.

Review 65:Convenient location with a stunning view of the cathedral. The bathroom had two sinks, which was quite convenient. Parking was convenient and free.

Review 66:Restaurant is up and down in quality, sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Review 67:I have stayed at the Salamanca Parador many times and I like it, mainly for the location, which is easy to get to, a short walk from town and with good parking. Bar is quite good and there are very good views of the old city.

Review 68:The distance to the city center. It is easy to do on foot but not a nice walk.

Review 69:Comfort, spacious lodgings and facilities in the hotel. Helpful staff. Nice quiet restaurant.

Review 70:No coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 71:The location was excellent for exploring Salamanca although quite a steep walk down from the hotel and another up to the old city.

Review 72:The front desk staff could have been more friendly. Other staff - cleaning, and cafe were very nice.

Review 73:Hotel is beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was very impressive and gave us our first serving of Salimanca's incredible Serrano ham.

Review 74:Great hotel, All staff very friendly, food was very good in the restaurant and reasonable priced. Rooms very comfortable with large bathrooms, wonderful location.

Review 75:There was not anything we didn't like. Now one of our two favourite Paradors.

Review 76:Loved the decor and spaciousness of the rooms. View of the cathedrals from our room and the restaurants was spectacular. The food was excellent. Easy to find and walking into Salamanca from the hotel is easy.

Review 77:I opted for the Parador because it was easy to find (traveling by myself without GPS), it had free parking, and because of its view of the city. My room was clean and comfortable, and the view from the window of the cathedral on the hill opposite was spectacular. It was definitely worth paying extra for the view. The breakfast was very complete, with made-to-order eggs and a good selection of buffet offerings; excellent service, too. The walk to town was easy, mostly on paths and a pedestrian bridge, and took about 10-15 minutes (with pauses for photographs).

Review 78:Location is not ideal if you are visiting Salamanca. On the opposite side of the river and you need to taxi into town . Restaurant is expensive. It does everything you need but is , being very modern, quite impersonal.

Review 79:Easy to find with good parking. Nice room and excellent breakfast. Very good value off season. Great views of the city but make sure you get a room on the right side or you look over the car park .

Review 80:Salamanca city, which is amazing, was a 20 minute walk away, which was where the restaurants were, ok during the day, but rather off putting through dark park in evening. Hotel restaurant expensive.

Review 81:Comfortable, relaxing hotel. Pleasant room with great views.

Review 82:The hotel is located somewhat off the 'hot' areas of Salamanca (~15 min walk). The biggest disappointment was with the free wifi; although it was indeed free, the connection was extremely poor at our room and kept crashing constantly.

Review 83:The room and the bathroom were impeccably cleaned, the bed was quite comfortable and the heating/cooling system worked appropriately. The staff was polite and helpful. Free public parking was available and the view from the hotel lobby was beautiful.

Review 84:The view! The lobby, the rooms, the kind personnel who helped us when I did not figure out the room key at night...They saw that my wife did not eat the whole breakfast and billed us only for toast and coffee. Really nice

Review 85:The room and dining facilities were well worth the extra price. The Menu Degustacion was one of the finest meals we've ever had. Staff was superb. Access and parking were the best of our month in Spain.

Review 86:The air conditioning in the bedroom did not work. It was 28° in the room. We complained to desk who told us that 10 days previously they suffered a cold spell in Salamanca and it was not possible to put the air conditioning back on. We slept with the window open and suffered the mosquito bites.

Review 87:Comfort of the bed. The city was wonderful.

Review 88:Air conditiioning was disabled as previous week it was cold so they started the central heating. Bedroom far too hot - opened window resulting in being bitten by mosquitos overnight. Had to change room for second night.

Review 89:Excellent view of city. A short walk downhill, then over the Roman bridge and you are in the ancient city.

Review 90:no map available of Salamanca, staff seemed disinterested, decor seemed drab;any warm ambience was lacking. I felt no desire to hang out in/around the hotel. There was nothing particularly wrong, but I wouldn't choose to stay there again.

Review 91:grand view across the river of the cathedral; Room seemed clean, good wifi, bathroom seemed very modern and spotless;

Review 92:That we only planned one night there.

Review 93:We loved the view from this hotel. The location was a bit of a walk from the old town but the view made up for that. We liked everything about it. Parking easy, breakfast excellent.

Review 94:We booked at Reception for the tasting menu in the restaurant and a time of 8pm was accepted. However the restaurant does not open until 8.30pm and the personnel in the restaurant had not been told about our reservation.

Review 95:A young man in the restaurant was very welcoming and served us very politely

Review 96:The price of the breakfast at 18 euros each we thought was way tooexpensive. We walked into town for ours.

Review 97:The comfort and size of the room. The view was great from the terrace, possibly the best in the city.

Review 98:What a place Paramours are usually good, but this one is totally different being modern. The staff, food, comfort are excellent. A special mention for Francesca a receptionist who was fantastic when I had problem with my classic car. Stay here is good value too.

Review 99:the scrub land surrounding the hotel. Although not the hotels grounds or responsibility this gave the impression of the hotel being in a rundown neglected part of town

Review 100:the view from the window . the breakfast

Review 101:we travelled as a group of 6 people on motorcycles , The Hotel offered nice secure parking , The location was first class, an easy walk into the city, room, s were top notch with a nice breakfast

Review 102:Nothing: everything was awesome!

Review 103:The location was good, and easy parking really helped, particularly with the kids. The room was very spacious and comfortable, again, perfect with the children.

Review 104:Reception staff were always very helpful which was much appreciated. Location is ideal, just outside town for ease of finding the hotel, but quick walk into the city. View from hotel is fantastic.

Review 105:The pool tiles could have used a bit of cleaning. It would be nice if smoking sections outdoors would be pushed off to the side; we couldn't really enjoy the terrace outside the lobby because of the cigarette smoke.

Review 106:We have stayed at many Paradores through the years, and while Salamanca does not have the old-world charm that so many of the properties have, it more than makes up for it with plush comfort and stunning city views. The breakfast was, hands down, the best Parador breakfast ever. Outstanding. It's an enjoyable walk into Salamanca over the old Roman bridge, but may be a bit far for someone elderly or with mobility issues. Plentiful parking. We enjoyed the pool and sunning on the lawn overlooking the city. I hope we can go back one day.

Review 107:Staff on reception could be a little more welcoming and cheerful. Was told by one member of staff that the pool was open but it wasn't and was covered in insects.

Review 108:Wonderful view of the city from our room. Staff in cafeteria very friendly and efficient. Comfortable bed, spacious room and bathroom

Review 109:Failed sensor light in hallway outside bedroom 225 meant I did not see alarge, dark, low square "seat" in middle of hallway until Ifell over it. Hotel were aware of this and were waiting for spare part -the object should have been removed pro-tem. Uk news channel would havebeen nice.

Review 110:Excellent and helpful staff both in dining facilities and at front desk.Very good breakfast. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Would certainlygo back there or to another Parador.

Review 111:The reception, all the staff were "cold"and quite unhelpful, except one young girl on the evening shift.the hotel has no Heart and relies on its position and views for bookings!Needs a shake up!

Review 112:The Views,good pool,friendly Bar staff.

Review 113:Main evening returant. Head waiter useless, left to find own table, slow in obtainingm your order and could not get a simple thing like getting a well cooked stake produced. The stake came rare.

Review 114:Good views from all the eating areas. Snack bar good with pleasant staff Breakfast was good with good staff. Head waiter very helpful

Review 115:The glass partitions on the terrace were very dirty and you had to look that direction to see the cathedral The price for the breakfast was very high

Review 116:Fabulous views of the cathedral and town Our room was spacious and comfortable

Review 117:Lovely room overlooking the city. Excellent food with an indication on the menu of possible dietary needs by some dishes.e.g. Gluten free etc. Quiet location with on site parking but only 15 min easy walk to the old town. We stayed 2 nights on the 1st weekend in September which turned out to be a Fiesta. Free Flamenco performance in the Plaza Mayor. Food and drink stalls, procession in national costume and a great firework display which we watched from our room!

Review 118:Free parking in front of hotel, wifi works well, friendly staff, fantastic view towards the old town, very good and spacious room with a fabulous bed, good bathroom and with away from the city center, the restaurant is great - I had a stunning dinner there.

Review 119:Cleanliness No scrub for toilet Having flies in my bedroom bitting meduring night without having a window open Price vs Room quality

Review 120:Free parking!

Review 121:The Salamaca Parador exceeded all expectations. Excellent staff, good value for money and situated in a super position to visit the fabulous city. We loved everything about it and will definitely stay again.

Review 122:Car park not secure

Review 123:WE have had so many bad experiences with food in Spanish hotels it is nice to have had a good experience with good food - the wine list was not brilliant but the prices were ok : if you do not pay the supplement for a city view you are either tight or stuoid

Review 124:Just a modern hotel. Long walk into centre. Cafe menu poor and main restaurant overpriced. We have used Parador's before and this was nothing like those using character properties.

Review 125:Room was large and comforrtable. Free parking

Review 126:not enough tables to eat at outside on the terrace when we were there

Review 127:Everything was really pleasant after a long hot day on the road. Very well situated across from the old city. Hotel has splendid terraces and views on which to relax. Huge bathroom and rooms, great bed.

Review 128:I thought 18 euros for the breakfast was overpriced but good value inthe main restaurant, 30 euros for 3 courses

Review 129:Rooms large and comfortable, lovely views of salamanca

Review 130:- Room was big but clearly not clean enough (hairs everywhere on the ground, dusty carpet) - Pool only opens at 11am - €18 breakfast: nothing exceptional. You can the same downtown Salamanca for half the price - beware, only half the rooms have the cathedral view.

Review 131:- Outstanding view from the hotel - Great wine selection and atmosphere - Great and large pool with solarium

Review 132:Easy to find with plenty of free parking in private grounds Lovely walk over the old bridge up to the cathedral and the old town only 10 minutes. Stunning view of the cathedral in the opposite hill from the parador
