Guesthouse Gasthof Tauernalm sells fast on our site. The family-run Gasthof Tauernalm is located at 1,2,250 feet above sea level and offers direct views of the Großglockner, Austria's highest mountain. Located directly at the Großglockner High Alpine Road 1,300 feet above Heiligenblut, Gasthof Tauernalm is a starting point for hiking tours in summer.
In winter, this inn is located right by the Tauernberg T-bar lift, which takes you to the ski area. The traditional restaurant serves homemade delicacies and local specialities.
From May to late September, the use of the Großglockner High Alpine Road (toll road) is available at a reduced rate with a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Review 1：Dream Pension, situated 100 m from Heiligenblut Großglockner Hochalpenstraße entry. Friendly staff and good mood. Rooms with spectacular views of the mountains. Dinner was a royal Austrian culinary flavors.

Review 3：Very beautiful room in a stanning position surrounded by the glossglocker mountains. The hotel is in front of the entrance to the glossglocker road. Kind staff wich speaks a bit of italian. Loved it.

Nationalpark Kärnten Card for 3 night's stay in the summer (grants free access to Grossglockner High Alpine Road, and provides add'l discounts/free entry to various facilities in the area) Excellent location for GHAR visitors in the summer (and probably also for ski sport fans in the winter because the ski lift is within about 70m distance of the Gasthof). Very good value for price; would come back in the winter too. Free WiFi.

Review 12：A very good hotel in a great place with a traditional unbeatable Austrian hospitality. Althouth close to the road it was very quiet (Hochalpenstrasse is closed at night). We had a comfortable bed and a pretty large room with a balcony. Breakfast was also great. More than enough parking spots.

Review 15：The host of the gasthof is very nice, he likes to help and share.Although we are not good at Enghlish, we also talked very happily tohim; the room is big enough for us（just two adults), I think it is bigenough for a family with two children. The food there is the bestAustria food during our trip, very suitable for our Chinese stomach. Andthere will be some daily specials also. The chef is the hotess I guest,a very lovely grandma. We took every dinner during our stay! The freeentrace to the greatest grossgrocknler way is offered by this gasthof,it's very very useful and the grossgrocknler is so impressed for us,we will come back again to drive on the grossgrocknler and stay in thisgasthof agan in the future!

Review 20：The apartments are only available in winter, by email reservation. They are very clean, similar to the gasthof rooms. We had halfboard served in the gasthof Tauernalm. The kitchen is clean and has all needed tools. Great location for skying holidays in Heiligenblut.

We arrived very late on a very wet night and they had even kept the Chef on duty in case we wanted to eat (which we did and it was good). We were contacted before our trip and sent information that got us over the Grossglocknerstrasse toll free for the duration of our stay and we were given a pass for the local activities. The Location is immediately beside the southern entrance to the mountain road so you can easily explore either in or outside of the toll area. Fantastic mountains, glaciers and wildlife. We were waved off when we left, after a very enjoyable stay. Would very happily return or recommend.

Review 69：I did not like that you had to walk through the bar area, which was verysmokey from cigarettes, to get to the rooms or the restaurant. The doorfrom the bar area to the upstairs rooms area was also kept open allowingthe smoke smell to go upstairs. The rooms themselves did not smell ofsmoke. The bathroom lights worked from a motion sensor and turned offunexpectedly while I was showering. There was no hand soap provided inthe bathroom.

The views are unbelieveably beautiful in every direction.I could not stop looking at the scenery; even when it was storming itwas amazing to watch the clouds move by. The room was very clean andcomfortable. The proprietor was very friendly and spoke severallanguages including English. The breakfast was good and standard for thearea. We ate dinner twice here and the food was quite good andreasonably priced.

Review 72：This hotel has traditional Austrian charm.The rooms have superb viewsfrom the grossglockner mountain to the area down the valley.Near thetollbooth for the grossglockner pass-but the hotel sits high above theroad so there is litttle noise-especially at night when the pass isclosed.Excellent location for walking-the gondola middle station is a5-10 minute walk away-or the very helpful manager will arrange for thebus to stop outside!.The bus is an excellent way to get to the glacier-you can then walk to Heiliglenbut down a stunning path in 3 hours orso.For skiing there is a drag lift outside the front door of thehotel.For stays of more than 2 nights the High Tauern pass is included-no charge on the grossglockner pass or the gondola-see the website forall the other benefits.Best part of our stay was the wonderful welcomefrom Gervald and the staff.Everyday we were advised about the bestwalks.This hotel is fully booked for next january and most of februaryand I can understand why.
Review 73：We liked this hotel very much. The host is very friendly and speaksenglish (which is rare in Austria). The rooms are big, clean and youhave an awesome view of the Grossglockner. We enjoyed relaxing on thebalconies every evening while listening to the birds singing. The dinnerwas delicious and the breakfast was also very ok.

He offered us advice and recomendation for hicking and sightseeing. The hotel was very clean. The location, next to the toll station in Heiligenblut is the best place for starting hickes and trips in the grossglockner area. It is also a good place for skiers since there is a T-lift 50 meters from the hotel and a cabin 300 meters away. It is an excelent location offering great value for your money. To reach the city center of Heiligenblut you can take a 5-10 minutes drive or a 30-45 minutes walk. Parking in front of hotel was free. Internet access was possible and free. Accepts all creditcards (mastercard, maestro, visa). We would definitely recommend and return to this hotel.
