Reviews for Hotel Cikada

Review 1:Good value for money. 10-15 minute walk to the centre but right next door to the excellent maritime museum and close to the ferry terminal. Nice and quiet and in summer you can use the outdoor pool.

Review 2:The hotel is getting somewhat old, but that didn't bother me much, everything was clean and in good working order.

Review 3:Very helpful staff. Everything was very clean. Good breakfast, good location.

Review 4:Internet connection in the room non-existent. Although available in the reception and breakfast room, inconvenient especially when travelling on business.

Review 5:Spartan (no fridge, safe, water boiler) but very clean and tidy. Late check-out without without fuss or extra charge. Warm breakfast included.

Review 6:I had to wait standing in a queue more than 20 min for breakfast, too much people for the size of the room

Review 7:Very quiet hotel room, good restaurant, close to ferry terminal

Review 8:Very expensive food in the restaurant (and nothing good for a vegan and a fussy eater) so we didn't eat there for dinner. Be aware that essentially all restaurants in Mariehamn close at 9pm at the latest and many close much earlier.

Review 9:Very nice hotel right opposite the P/S Pommern and very close to the Viking Line dock. Good value for money in Aland terms. Does not rent bikes for more than a few hours but if you email the people at Ro/No rent they can set you up for it.

Review 10:A little noisy at night

Review 11:Great location and great view from my balcony! Very comfortable.. Camilla at the front desk was very helpful with all matters... from a room upgrade, to suggestions for transportation, to where to walk to view the local scenery. A nice restaurant onsite which was so convenient. Recommended!!!

Review 12:Noisy on weekends. Need earplug. The rooms are around the swimming pool and terrace of the restaurant, so depends on who is seating there at nights... No vegan alternatives as soy milk for breakfast.

Review 13:Family style hotel. Nice swimming pool. Friendly atmosphere. Nice views on sunset. Clean.

Review 14:No changing the towels, and if we wanted to have an extra one to use in the pool, we had to pay for it... It's a bit strange...

Review 15:The staff was really nice and helpful, helped us to adjust the bicycle to our hight with a smile...

Review 16:I was there to see IFK and it's only a 15 minute walk from the stadium, and about the same into the main shopping street. Also right next to the Pommern ship. Good breakfast.

Review 17:Breakfast quite simple (eggs, bacon, juice, bread, cheese, ham), would have been nice with some fresh fruit etc.

Review 18:Clean, spacious room with a bath tub, comfortable bed, friendly staff, a short walk from the harbour.

Review 19:Meal assortment for breakfast is less than in a 2*-hotel Esplanad (although they seem to be in cooperation)

Review 20:Good location, fast check-in, swimming pool. Good choice of drinks in the bar

Review 21:From the moment we arrived, we were treated in a friendly courteous manner. Just beside the wonderful maritime museum and handy for the town centre. An excellent place to stay in Mariehamn

Review 22:I arrived on a ferry at 4:30 am, which is common in this location. I absolutely understood that I could not get into my room until later that day, but I would recommend they offer a reduced rate for the rest of the morning. They would profit and guests would relax.

Review 23:Cleanliness

Review 24:Breakfast is quite modest.

Review 25:Very, very friendly lady at the reception! (sorry for not remembering her name). She helped us planning our time on Aland, called to rent a car for us, offered free bikes for 3 h per day so that we could explore more. Thank you so much!!! The room was quiet (the beginning of May, just start of tourist season)

Review 26:full day price for early check-in, in low season stuff is present only 2 days a week, though they clean your room, all the information is mostly in finnish and sweddish

Review 27:easy to find, far enough from the terminal, not to hear the ferries and close enough to find an 4 a.m., clean

Review 28:(1) Wet paint on doors not indicated in English - both my wife and I ruined clothing before being alerted to the problem by another guest. (2) Restaurant run as a separate business - unable to get a table on our final evening

Review 29:Spacious room with balcony, overlooking the Pomern & maritime museum. Good facilities, including outdoor pool

Review 30:Breakfast room is over-filled with tables. It was difficult to move around it at breakfast. Our "seaview" was a car park and an out of use swimming pool filled with green water. The rooms were clean but the dirty glasses were left in the outside bar areas for hours

Review 31:Location

Review 32:Worn out towels, pillow and linens . Sauna was in need for repairs. Somewhat back to 80´s feeling in the Hotel.

Review 33:Reasonable and functional hotel for short stay - easy parking and quiet room.

Review 34:Was all good.

Review 35:Very close to rail services (which are great in Sweden, even for foreign travellers. Close to COOP supermarket with great salad bar Very good quality fresh breakfast included in the reasonable price.

Review 36:Breakfast buffet was sparse. The Sauna is only open early in the morning and you have to pay if you want to use it in the afternoon or evening. The hotel is a bit outdated.

Review 37:The view from some of the rooms was very beautiful. You can watch the sunset every night from your balcony! Very friendly and helpful stuff. Free bikes for 3 hours. The prize is fair for what you get!

Review 38:This hotel is unreliable. They advertised in the broschure the opening hours of the hotel restaurant that were not true. When we appeared in restaurant for dinner, thinking that we are an hour ahead of closure, they told us that as of today they changed the opening hours and refused to serve us. Intervention at reception did not help, instead we were advised to go other place. I complained about this to manager and was blamed that I did not read instructions. I provided with picture of the room broschure to proove that I was right. The manager offered 20 Euro compensation for the taxi. Instead, I asked for reimbursing 50% of one night spent at the hotel - they ruined our evening and we ended up eating a burger in the pub (the only pub in Alands that still was open). Eventually I got refused. The manager emphasized that since a week the restaurant was having shortened opening hours. I replied by providing a copy of invoice from the day before, where restaurant was open longer than he claimed - this was his second lie. I repeated my request for reimbursement of 50% of one night but got refused - I did not think 20 Euro compensates the damage - if I knew that they are so unreliable, I would decide to return home with evening flight instead of morning the day after and would save a lot of money on this. Therefore, instead of accepting 20 Euro offer, I prefer to share with future potential guests, what kind of treatment you can expect there. They will ruin your evening and not feel responsible for it.

Review 39:Only the location

Review 40:We asked for a allergy room but got a standard. The cleaning was poor. There was mold in the bathroom that didn`t really do any good for our astma. The overall feeling of the Cikada hotel is not impressive. It's clwar that the hotel had it's glory days back in the 80-s. No renovation has not been made since then but the place is in desperate need of one.

Review 41:Wifi included. Like that the hotel is close to the harbour. Free parking as everywhere in Mariehamn. The reception was available 24 hours. Morning sauna was included in the price.

Review 42:In my experience of several stays in the city, Cicada is simply the best hotel in town. The rooms are good, the staff are friendly, the facilities are good, the restaurant is excellent and prices are very competitive. If you have a chance to choose, choose this one.

Review 43:Not being asked if I needed assistance with my luggage and being an older person having to carry two suitcases up two flights of stairs - so a little thoughtfulness on the part of reception would have been appreciated

Review 44:The convenience to the ferry terminal and the enjoyable walk into town Very comprehensive breakfast Comfortable, quiet room

Review 45:No fridge in the room. Room very hot in the afternoons.

Review 46:Position nice and very quiet, near the old guest harbor. Nice paths for uphill footing in the small forest next to the hotel. Warm swimming pool. Staff in reception very professional and friendly, they even sent me back a t- shirt i forgot in the room.

Review 47:Bad WiFi in the room... But didn't matter that much cause we didn't go there to spend time in the room :)

Review 48:Great location and view from the seaside balcony, pool!!!, bicycles for 10€ deposit, extremely friendly staff :)

Review 49:Perfect location, very friendly staff, best "value for money" ratio.

Review 50:Staff did not speak Finnish

Review 51:Good position

Review 52:-looks nicely from outside, not so good any more from inside

Review 53:-ok, nothing special

Review 54:Lovely atmosphere. Great staff. Good location.

Review 55:Swimming pool is great bonus:)

Review 56:There were swedish drunk people at night drink bear behind our room window

Review 57:Location in walking distance from town centre

Review 58:The location is good and when you see a light up Tall Shoå when you go to bed you cannot wish for ore.

Review 59:Location. Food. Atmosphere

Review 60:Why You add water to the apple and orange juice in buffet????

Review 61:Bikes free for 3 hours always if there is some free. Splended!

Review 62:nothing

Review 63:Convenient location and friendly staff and excellent value for money

Review 64:A socket by the bed would be useful.

Review 65:Good location, two pools and sauna (free for guests)

Review 66:Bread at breakfast had mold on it.

Review 67:It was available when we couldn't get anything else.

Review 68:No such items

Review 69:Fantastic view from the room window to the Aland flag and the gulf

Review 70:The breakfast didn't taste nothing. The beds and there was no air condition at all. It felt that the hotell needed a refreshment.

Review 71:bad wifi connection

Review 72:Good location, grate view, clean and comfortable room.

Review 73:The outside was often a little noisy with unsupervised children

Review 74:We really liked the spacious room and the adjoining facilities with a nice holiday atmosphere.

Review 75:It was not much to complain about here. We asked if we could borrow the phone for a local landline phone call and think 1 euro a minute was too expensive for something that shouldn't cost them much, but apart from that we found them very helpful.

Review 76:Mariehamn is small and this place is located close to both the ferry terminals and the town centre. The staff is nice and helpful, the hotel provides a nice breakfast with a good selection. Guest have free acess to the heated outdoor pool the whole day and the sauna is free in the morning. The room is not brand new, but it was functional, comfortable and clean with a big balcony.

Review 77:The hotel has a bit of a dated feel to it but it was really not a problem.

Review 78:Location near the harbour. It is not in the centre but the town is small enough and the walk was not long either.

Review 79:Location close to ferry terminal, and an easy walk to Centrum. Staff in restaurant were accommodating. Breakfast was fine. Room was comfortable. This was a good choice of lodging for us.

Review 80:Some people drank beer/wine around the swimming pool and left empty bottles everywhere. We were afraid of broken glass and did not dare to come to the pool. Beside, it is really small for swimming. One has to pay more if one wants to have a view to the sea.

Review 81:Breakfast was good, although a bit repeated choice. The room was big enough and clean.

Review 82:Can't really complain of anything.

Review 83:Everything was OK, but I spent very little time in the hotel, due to the nature of my trip (short stay, attending a wedding)

Review 84:Our room was little worn out, this was no surprise though as the pictures on booking.com are realistic

Review 85:Good location Heated outdoor pool Good value for money compared to other hotels in Mariehamn Child friendly

Review 86:Excellent location. Very quiet and cosy hotel. It is located in the town and has all the urban amenities, but a full impression of the trip to the village with an excellent break from the bustle of the city.

Review 87:but still unfear expensive. i payd for two nights, even i wasn't there even one full night! pricing should be more flexible, if transportation has so complicated schedule.

Review 88:cheapest in town

Review 89:Room very basic - even for a 3* hotel. But fair for the price. Door was difficult to lock/unlock - and hard to tell from inside if door was locked. No other door for security between bedroom door and public - as a woman travelling alone this was a bit unnerving.

Review 90:Good location, close to ferry terminal, only 5-10 mins walk from town centre. Great price, good breakfast included. Arrived on a late ferry so got to hotel around midnight but staff were fine with this and were very helpful.

Review 91:Breakfast pretty modest.

Review 92:Fairly neat, though the premises are quite old. Location near the ferry harbour. Room rate very reasonable at least this time of the year (April).

Review 93:perfect low-budget hotel at good location. Breakfast good.

Review 94:i gotta pay for hot water (for tee)? and it's not even hot.

Review 95:great view, close to the harbour..

Review 96:Bit tired

Review 97:Location, we were travelling by ferry so walking distance

Review 98:Beautiful location. Breakfast was good.

Review 99:Pay extra for the sea view, it's absolutely worth it.

Review 100:Close to ferry, to the town. Good warm pool, not bad break fest. Очень удобно, не экономят на обогреве бассейна. Завтрак с неплохим выбором

Review 101:No complaints at all

Review 102:Very comfortable and friendly atmosphere, nice location

Review 103:Pool and price, overall a good experience. It's not a luxury hotel but works just fine for a family stay.

Review 104:Spacious but simple rooms.

Review 105:Location , view to the tall ship Pommern. Good atmosphere

Review 106:- The view from the balcony was the Pomern ship - Free bicycles for 3 hours

Review 107:Kitchen should be better.

Review 108:Location, comfort, silence. Visit was to conference and additional 2 days on occasion of 45 annyversary of wedding.

Review 109:Everything was good! The hotel is close to Alands museum and Pommern museum and not far from ferry terminal. Staff was very helpful.

Review 110:Noisy school group on first night's stay

Review 111:breakfast was good. Conveniently located.

Review 112:That the resturant was closed

Review 113:Almost everything

Review 114:Small room; felt more like a dorm than a hotel. Typical forFinland, though.

Review 115:Location, staff, price.
