Reviews for Hotel Citric Sóller

Review 1:The bathroom needed updating - avocado suite with poorly grouted brown tiles. There wasn't much room for storing clothes - a chest of drawers would have been helpful and hooks on the back of the doors. The lighting was very powerful, making night time reading a bit difficult.

Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic hot showers at all times of the day. Quiet location. Breakfast choice was amazing! I was very pleased to see almond milk, wholemeal bread, a range of fruit and delicious muesli as well as the normal items on offer.

Review 3:Other guets are smoking at their balconies so we had to close our door most of the time because the smoke was going into our room. It could be nice if there was no smoking on the balconies. The public busses are pretty crowded and there are to few departures.

Review 4:Great view and close to the beach and mountains. The hotel is simple, nice and clean. Ok breakfast. We would like to come back.

Review 5:Poor coffee at breakfast - from a machine (no taste) and room smelt a bit strange - damp? Room wasn't cleaned after first night, no clean towels etc - and when I queried this with cleaning staff, not the best reaction - begrudgingly gave me shampoo and wouldn't 'give me fresh towels! Should have taken this with up with helpful reception staff really - but no big deal.

Review 6:Very pleasant reception and restaurant staff. Great location and views. Good evening meal, breakfast fine.

Review 7:No fan provided in room and very stuffy

Review 8:Great location food was good not to big a portion but enough so could eat at lunch but not feel like you had over eaten

Review 9:It was very noisy throughout the building, you could hear everything. Also it was very hot without air conditioning and the hotel is looking very tired and needs a lot doing to it to bring it up to date.

Review 10:upstairs the wifi did not work well and in our room the window for the shower was to small, so the result was a wet bathroom floor.

Review 11:very simple but good enough

Review 12:No cooling whatsoever (no A/C, ceiling fan or even table fan) in the middle of summer turned the room into a baking oven. We ended up sleeping on lawn chairs outside and in the lobby sofas.

Review 13:Lack of air conditioning is a real issue in high season. We paid extra for a room with a fan - we didn't expect it to be an ancient, noisy, pointless ceiling fan. Utterly useless. If this place had air con or decent, modern, quiet, free-standing fans it would be great. Yes, it's a budget hotel but we (and many other guests we over-heard) found the heat of the rooms very uncomfortable. People in the room below us took their beds out on to the larger balcony they had and all slept out there! You'd step out of a refreshing shower and be immediately sweating. It was more comfortable on the beach during the day - at least there was an occasional breeze there .... Such a shame. The staff were rather unsmiley too which was another shame.

Review 14:Location is great as the views are spectacular. The large terrace opposite the hotel was a lovely place to sit (although some sun umbrellas there would be good for the option of shade). The breakfast was surprisingly good for the price of our stay - a wide range of options.

Review 15:Initially we had booked a cheaper room at the back of the hotel which was far too hot, being 40 degrees on the day we arrived. We only spent one night in this room because the heat was unbearable and we had to move to a cooler room for a higher price. It was an exceptionally hot week even by Majorca standards. We were offered a fan for 2 euros a day which was very small/ weak and kept breaking down in the night. Under the circumstances of these temperatures we felt that the hotel should be providing proper working fans which were powerful and for no extra charge. It felt a bit like they were squeezing as much as they could put of the guests ( like the low cost airlines) with this charge and the charge for the safes in the room. The argument is that it is a budget hotel but it is not that cheap and even cheap hotels should provide the basics and fans are a basic need at these temperatures

Review 16:The location of the hotel was good, being a bit out of the way from the main drag and with great views across the bays. Also near to the beach. The room we had was a high standard and had been recently refurbished with a good bathroom, although we had to pay more for this side of the hotel.

Review 17:It was extremely hot in the bedroom and there was no air conditioning. Hence we didnt get a lot of sleep even with a fan going all night. This was the only downside of this hotel but we understand this will be installed soon, and then it would be the perfect place to stay. Also to be fair the temperatures were extreme for the time of year, so I'm sure it would be better another time.

Review 18:View from the bedroom was beautiful. Extremely clean. Friendly, polite and very helpful staff. Breakfast was great with local produce on offer. I would recommend this hotel to others, and would definitely stay again!

Review 19:Small room for first night, very hot and stuffy and room was at rear of hotel with mountain very close behind! Upgraded to room at front of hotel with balcony, ceiling fan and wonderful views.

Review 20:Citric Hotel had a prime location at the Port entrance. Wonderful views across the bay and out to sea. Slightly elevated position and 10 mins. brisk walk from Port centre.

Review 21:No telephone in room so when there was a loud group of lads at 3.30 am hammering on all doors on our floor, we were unable to contact reception to advise them of this.

Review 22:The location of this hotel was great. Really enjoyed its décor - simple and rustic. Breakfast was continental but food of excellent quality.

Review 23:Bedroom needed upgrading . Inside of wardrobe painted awful colour . Had paid for sea view room but we're given room slightly to side. A

Review 24:Location was great. Breakfast very filling . Evening set meal very enjoyable & terrific value for money .

Review 25:The beds were a bit hard. The coffee is awful -from a machine. Found the food quite tasty but portions are small especially when you have been out walking all day.

Review 26:Location excellent , nice and quiet and facilities adequate for price paid .just wanted a base for walking. food has improved. The rooms with a balcony overlooking the bay are the best.

Review 27:Parking would be difficult in summer.

Review 28:Superb location, 1 min from sandy beach. basic but authentic Spanish cooking. Clean and comfortable - quiet (but it was end of October!)

Review 29:no idea this year, the hotel quality really became better because of the renovation

Review 30:I had nice room with wc/shower, with balcony, facing the sea - 3 minutes to walk to the beach. Nice panoramatic sea view to Port de Sóller. For this price I really am happy, having been here since 6 - 7 years for Mallorca holidays..

Review 31:The hotel is cheap but many nicer places are the same price. I always choose no frills places in good locations so believed I knew what to expect. This was dirtier and more uncomfortable than all hostels I have ever stayed in. Despite the heat(and there is no air con) the sheets were not changed for a week. The hotel is in an incredibly noisy position so we had a choice between windows open and noise or being trapped in an overheated airless room. The breakfast is overpriced and really poor quality - an orange squash type drink and vending machine for tea and coffee. Get fresh orange, coffee and croissant for half the price in a nice cafe on the front if you have already booked. The staff were smoking in the hotel doorway to greet you and wholly unhelpful. I have stayed in 2 places at similar or cheaper prices this year which I would review very positively.

Review 32:smart clean and effecient

Review 33:neighbouring toilets quite loud!!

Review 34:excellent views across harbour from 4th floor bedroom

Review 35:No air conditioning.

Review 36:Excellent view from balcony.

Review 37:Couldn't lock the balcony door. No one could fix it.

Review 38:Perfectly located in the harbour and close to Beach.

Review 39:Room was very basic - no dressing table or mirror - one hairdryer for the whole hotel basic breakfast - bananas so green they were like bullets

Review 40:Clean, friendly, beautiful view from the balcony.

Review 41:Terrific value for money. Cheapest beds in the port.

Review 42:The view is wonderful. Bed comfy and shower excellent

Review 43:No air conditioning, very hard beds

Review 44:Location, cleanliness

Review 45:The room was extremely hot, not even a fan available ("I gave all our fans to other guests") It was a terrible night.

Review 46:Small old fashioned lift (very picky!!)

Review 47:Great little hotel, excellent value for money with beautiful views over the Port!

Review 48:no bad experience.

Review 49:the weekly rate was acceptable for what was on offer.

Review 50:No air condition

Review 51:Location and value for money

Review 52:Quietness and cleanliness

Review 53:Excellent hotel for climbers and cyclists in April time. Good beds and showers. Very good breakfast and helpful staff.

Review 54:location is good, but rooms had bad smell. Comfort level is low, so price should be lower.

Review 55:Bad smell of septic

Review 56:Nice place to wake up looking across the bay

Review 57:Les dîners pas assez maritimes en saveur

Review 58:Le petit déjeuner sur la baie

Review 59:Quite basic but was the only hotel with vacancies.

Review 60:Breakfast needed more variety

Review 61:Access to transport

Review 62:No airconditioning

Review 63:Friendly helpful staff

Review 64:Lack of air-conditioning in rooms.

Review 65:* no friendly staff * no airco or fan * breakfast is rather small for the price

Review 66:* Port de Soller is a nice place to stay

Review 67:Room, small,no air con, broken window one pane completely missing, dirty bathroom. Had to stand up to see view from balcony Breakfast : shocking. The only thing edible was the bread. Cereals the cheapest and nastiest . Eggs once a week and tasteless Evening meal inedible Unsurprisingly no one was in the bar in the evening despite the great location. Every where else in Soller was busy and buzzing . There is a terrace with some very uncomfortable chairs and sunbeds but no parasols This hotel could be lovely but No one is interested -seems like it is run from a distance by someone who has no idea about customer care, quality or catering. Doesn't matter if it's cheap I would never ever stay there again and would recommend others don't either

Review 68:The location was excellent overlooking the bay and a short walk to beach and restaurants

Review 69:Although the bathroom was very clean we did have a problem when we had showered, there was no shower curtain which meant that the water ran out into the room. We did report this and it was cleared up straight away. But we never did get a shower curtain!

Review 70:The staff were very helpful, the location was good and very quiet.

Review 71:The rooms look as if they haven't been refurbished since it was built (although the reception area has been) and the furnishings are pretty basic. as was the breakfast. It's overpriced for what it offers, although given that prices are inflated all around the Sóller, Deia, Valldemosa area of Mallorca, it is probably counts as good value in that overinflated market.

Review 72:Good location, overlooking the sea, on one side of the bay. Modern hotel, built in the 1970s I would guess, perfectly serviceable but nothing special.

Review 73:The friendly staff. The breakfast and evening meal were very acceptable in both quality and quantity. The bar and lounge area was very comfortable and the prices very reasonable.

Review 74:Not much character - no atmosphere in the hotel. No reason to use the bar. Glad I was only staying for two nights.

Review 75:The location of the hotel is excellent. It is reasonable value for money.

Review 76:We visited in May and it was not too hot but in full season it could be uncomfortable as there was no aircon in the bedroom.

Review 77:Very good value for money. Public rooms pleasant and spacious. Bedroom basic but clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast very good with a buffet choice. Quality of dinner varied according to the meal but everything was acceptable. Starter was soup one evening followed by a salad buffet starter the next evening. No choice of meals. Very good location for starting walks and for the beach.

Review 78:The doors in the rooms are old, hollow and made from two thin layers of plywood : means that sound pass direct through. You can hear your neighbour snooring or when they open their noisy banging doors. The towels are really lousy - and the mattress should have been changed long ago. We paid 51€ for a backside room - a fair price would have been 35€. They profit extra because of the location.

Review 79:The Lobby is ok

Review 80:The best views of the bay and a huge balcony. The beds were comfortable and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels available as required. Value for money.

Review 81:Some rooms don't have views and are quite small.

Review 82:Fabulous location, especially if you are driving, overlooking beautiful Soller. Wonderful breakfast and friendly service from staff

Review 83:Being ripped off by 40 euros for a back room with rubbish view and no balcony. ( according to the manager that is the same as a front room with a balcony) . The cockroach in the dinning room at breakfast.

Review 84:Nice view of the sunny side of town ( we were in shade from 4 pm )

Review 85:Stayed for a second year running. Basic hotel, you can up grade rooms if you feel the need too & they are available!!!! As always dinner quality is "what you pay for". Wonderful view across the bay. Perfect for walking the paths of Soller. Will hopefully return again next year !!!!!

Review 86:The room and furniture were old. The room was very dark; not nice at all to stay in. The breakfast buffet was very limited and of relatively low quality. Worst of all: there was no warm water! When turning on the warm water, it would come lukewarm for about 1 minute and then pressure would go down so much that there was barely any water coming out. I had to turn up the cold water (pressure was alright for cold water) and shower cold. It was really unpleasant. I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.

Review 87:The Wi-Fi worked really well in my 4th-floor room.

Review 88:My (single) room had very tight en suite bath room, but adequate, as stated, fair enough given the price.

Review 89:Good, simple basic hotel, staff generally helpful. Felt I got what I paid for. Room even had its own small balcony.

Review 90:Coffee wasn't good, but I do like my coffee.

Review 91:The view was amazing. The location fantastic. These made it good value for money. Clean and simple not fussy.

Review 92:The price was much too high to the standard of the hotel. Half the pricewould have been all right.

Review 93:The surroundings are outstanding with very nice pathways for walking inthe mountains.

Review 94:Breakfast was very basic at best;mirrors/balcony doors were not clean; the hotel is situated on the far side of the bay away from the centre (may be an advantage to some)

Review 95:Port de Soller is a very nice spot for a holiday and Hotel Citric one of the cheaper options along the bay and good value for money. I experienced friendly staff and had a lovely balcony(indispensable in the heat)although I hadn't specifically asked for that.

Review 96:for a longer stay the room would have benefitted from a tv or radio just for a little entertainment but otherwise nothing.

Review 97:the view of the harbour from our room was fantastic. the walk down to the port was very pleasant and the port itself was beautiful and not too crowded. breakfast at the hotel was also lovely.

Review 98:Simple and clean accommodation and great value for money compared to other hotels along the same bay. I have stayed in many as I have family in Soller and always use the Citric

Review 99:Staff were first rate and the cleanliness of my room and thehotel in general was excellent. Always hot water and clean towels. The location I have been to this hotel 15 years ago and I knew the location is truly breathtaking. Good value for money. No frills but people welcoming and I found it suited my needs entirely. Thank you. Susan Carr. Canada

Review 100:first bedroom (at rear of hotel) - no cupboards or hanging space, no view, very small. No choice of food and food was not on view.

Review 101:friendly staff, lovely views across bay from front rooms, value for money. Breakfast was fine.

Review 102:Staff (not enough) was rather unfriendly and incompetent. No hotwater, not even lukewarm, not suitable for a shower (4th floor). Noheating! (And it was rather cold, rainy and windy outside) and no warmblankets (we got a smelly one after request). Food (we have booked half-board; not recommendable!) was rather disgusting and not tasty atall!! Everybody got the same one dish without beeing asked for anyother wishes. We paid more than eur 100,00 for a double...far too muchfor this place.... We`d have rather paid eur 150,00 and stayedsomewhere else! Any other place is probably better than this one!!!!Never ever again!!!

Review 103:The location of the hotel (but that is nothing the management can beheld responsible for)

Review 104:Cockroaches, towels taken and not replaced, poor choice of food, noisy, poorly cleaned, lack of basic cleanliness, rooms need work (demolishing)smell of chips / frying fat , no sight of chips????

Review 105:Price , location, staff effort

Review 106:Some staff not friendly. Food not good. No choice of menu therefore 4 of the 6 nights we stayed we could not eat the food as it was not to our taste. The food was also served cold and looked unappetising. One day 10 minutes late for breakfast. Not allowed to use facilities to make a cup of tea. A cup was made for us and we had to pay for it!

Review 107:The stay was cheap. The room though a bit hot and stuffy was adequate. The hotel was clean. It was a good location.

Review 108:The radio was on all day -- and played almost exclusively American andEnglish tunes. Didn't make me feel like I was in Spain.

Review 109:For a backpacker the ideal starting point for all sorts of hiking tours. No unneccesary extras for people like me who are out all day and justwant a bed and a shower.

Review 110:photos on internet showed terrace which was non existent. would have paid for a room with a sea view if had known no terrace. Very run down area underneath terrace area derelict with teenagers smokong dope was approached and asked for rolling papers! Lady at reception dosent speak any Spanish so couldnt communicate with her she only spoke French or German. No hot water complained water was barely tepid.

Review 111:good location good central heating good value breakfast fine

Review 112:On Arrival we `found the room allocated had not been serviced . Thisroom faced a high bank and was dark without any outlook. We were given alarger room facing the sea which was better but then discovered we hadnot been given any towels. The room was not serviced to a good standardand furnishings and bathroom were very poor . Worse was to come! Withbreakfast quite the worst service and food I have ever had in ahotel.Dirty tables everywhere no fresh juice, no fruit ! just basiccereal and bread with a yoghurt! No attention to detail . No sign of awaitress ! This hotel should be avoided at all costs .The position isgood and that says it all! Dreadful experience

Review 113:Location was good with views over the sea.

Review 114:Rooms of variable quality, and as with many budget hotels the walls are very thin, so it's a question of luck whether you get noisy neighbours. Best bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise!

Review 115:Good location in terms of being in the quiet part of the port close to the best beach, though 20 mins walk from the bus stop if you're schlepping bags from there. Generally quite good value for money (in early October at least) with a reasonably priced dinner available if you wanted it.

Review 116:nothing at the price

Review 117:after having read some poor reviews of hotel citric, we were a bit apprehensive prior to arriving. however the hotel was very clean, the rooms basic but clean, clean sheets, hot baths and showers, staff were pleasant, all night receptionist on duty. the breakfasts were basic but fine and at 5 euro very good value for money. the hotel was overall exceptional value for money. it is located on the shoreline, overlooking the harbour at the end of a long line of restaurants, cafes and hotels and 20 metres from probably the best restaurant in the port - the agapanta. in the other direction the path leads straight into great walks thro the hills. if you want a clean well located place to base, the citric is a great place to stay at great value

Review 118:Otherwise nothing more can be mentioned positively, however I believefor this price no better quality can be expected. The absolutely lowestlevel. By the way the coffee at the lobby bar ist the most terrible oneI ever could drink...Also the payed internet access: do you believe thatthe fee of € 1,00 for 10 minutes (!) connection (for hotel guests!) isacceptable?

Review 119:Well situated, perhaps nice price..

Review 120:Plumbing can be a bit smelly, but this does seem to be a problem in this area. With money spent on this and other works, it could be a really good hotel. We had read some bad reports on this hotel but we found it to be good value for money. If you want luxury, then spend 180 euros per night on the Esplendido half a mile away!

Review 121:Meals although not offering a choice were value for money. The hotel is in a good position in the port and gives value for the budget price charged. With some money spent, it could be brought up to` more stars`

Review 122:Breakfasts very poor quality - machine made coffee barely drinkable and the cheese and ham available most days were processed and very poor quality. Orange juice was pretty nasty as well and no water provided. Some salad and boiled eggs (only available on 2 days) would have made for a healthier and tastier alternative and think not too much to ask to have real coffee available at breakfast. Beds were very uncomfortable and no fan of any kind in the room, not even ceiling fans with tiny window that meant even though there was a breeze that could have cooled the room, no air could get in or circulate.

Review 123:Great location and dinners were generally good considering price - could fill up on the salad starter (buffet style) if main dish not to taste. Service very fast.

Review 124:The location is perfect, you need to book a room with sea view andbalcony to enjoy it at the most. It is closed to the mountains and tothe beach as well. Hotel staff is friendly and we found the relaxedatmosphere very suitable for a holiday.

Review 125:it should not say the rooms without a sea view have a view of the mountains - that is plainly misleading . The view from my room at the back was of a patch of rock and scrub ground . Ive no problem with that - just dont pretend its otherwise . Also the walls are paper thin - you may as well be in the same room as the person next door so you really are dependent on your fellow guests to be respectful of that. Finally , realistically its fixtures andf fittings are on their last legs - it needs a proper refurbishment . No air conditioning of course but thats to be expected but tough going in high heat

Review 126:simple no nonsense one star hotel priced at a correct rate to match its services . good clean rooms ; professional staff - no messing ; great location in port de soller . i was pleased with it but that approval is very much based on price and location -

Review 127:Dont be fooled by the hotel saying that there is balcony view over deTramuntana muntain range on one side of the hotel. It’s just a massivecliff with no view at all over the mountains. Polically they areunfortunatelly correct, because the cliff is past of the Tramuntanamountain range! Note that the room has no air-con and you need to payfor a fan. There's a lady who speaks English with a french accent. She had poor customer service. She offered 2 mineral waters for 4 euro's and wanted a quick respons from me, so she could continue her "important" work behind the computer. Obviously I didn't buy the water after she said that.

Review 128:The orange juice is excellent at the breakfast! The bread is fresh aswell. Also great view over the bay if you sit across the road.

Review 129:Really sad breakfasts..The hotel looks a bit abandoned, although it has great facilities such as a very nice terrace overlooking the sea, but its not really in use.

Review 130:Great views, the nice walk to the Faro is nearby.
