Reviews for Hotel Rural Gaintza
Review 1:Steep cobbled shortcut into town but coming back was great on escalators and lift!
Review 2:Comfortable, quiet rooms with nice views over vineyards. Great air con and decent wifi. Fantastic staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Great breakfast and complimentary coffees as we sat to admire the views outside! And a tour of the family winery despite them being busy with the harvest!
Review 3:The winery location, quality of facilities, attention to detail of the staff, and outstanding breakfasts set Hotel Rural Gaintza apart from its' competitors. We will gladly return their on our next visit to the Basque of Spain.
Review 4:All was good. Proper cups in the bedroom would have been nice.
Review 5:A great little boutique hotel. Very convenient for the town. Great décor and great breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 6:The hotel is small, beautiful, modern and clean. It is located a very short walk from the town but feels like the countryside due to the surrounding vineyards. The staff and family who work there are extremely pleasant - offering advice, a great talk about the family vineyard and a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
Review 7:Relaxing hotel, with stylish, modern rooms. The hotel has a great sense of family history, it being part of a working vineyard and seeing the different generations of the family at work. Great location, close to the old town of Getaria (5 min. walk down the hill). Getaria has a number of nice restaurants, which serve a nice mix of seafood and pintxos.
Review 8:Breakfast was extraordinary. Although we were the only guests at the time, we were treated to a full spread of local delicacies, fresh orange juice, etc.
Review 9:Well decorated, well appointed and very comfortable accommodation with excellent breakfasts and very welcoming hosts. Quick walk down the hill into Getaria where there's plenty of bars and restaurants.
Review 10:Nothing..it was great
Review 11:Itxaso is an excellent hostess and cook (she cooks most of the breakfast cakes, tortillas etc). Her English is very good and she gives great I guidance on local attractions, restaurants and tapas bars. The hotel itself is only small and is part of a working commercial winery and vineyard. The setting is absolutely beautiful, with views over vineyards to the ocean. Although the hotel is on a hill outside of town, it is only a short drive or comfortable walk down to town. The return walk involves a series of escalators and elevators that take you up to a level that makes the final section to the hotel easy to complete. Use the GPS coordinates provided on the website to locate the hotel..the street address can be misleading. The hotel is only 2 years old so all facilities are excellent. The King bed is huge. The hotel even has an elevator to help you to the rooms. Free parking behind a security gate, lovely breakfasts....wonderful hotel
Review 12:A bit warm in the bedroom as the weather was very warm
Review 13:The Manager I think Xtasu was her name could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was brilliant and the coffee was the best.
Review 14:It was so peaceful that I opened the windows at night. Sadly mosquitoes came into our room. My fault.
Review 15:What a lovely place. The accommodation is very new and clean and well maintained. Our room was on the corner of the upper floor and so had 180 degree views. The hotel is above a reception area for a working family owned vineyard with our view being of the vineyard and rural properties. We were given a great tour (in English) of the winery which was interesting. The location above the hill of the sweet fishing village of Getaria was perfect. There was plenty of secure parking at the hotel. And yes although I didn't see the donkey in the advertising photo I did hear the donkey which was lovely.
Review 16:Very expensive (app 115 euro per night) for no confort. Room was very small and crammed and hot like an oven without AC. It was noisy outside with a dog barking. Fot this type of accomodation it was extremely overpriced
Review 17:The friendly staff
Review 18:The peace and quiet, the spectacular views, the spacious modern rooms, the generous breakfast, the welcoming staff, the proximity to the town and its facilities
Review 19:some air con or fans required over the summer as rooms did get hot. There was also the noise of dogs in the valley barking constantly, but you soon get use to them
Review 20:Huge bed, modern and very clean. A wonderful family feel and great breakfasts. Most enjoyable stay
Review 21:The breakfast was ok but a bit too sweet for our Nordic taste
Review 22:Very friendly staff, visit to the winery, big room with jacuzzi and balcony, nice scenery, next to Camino de Santiago - could have more than two stars!
Review 23:No dinner restaurant. Some problems with a/c
Review 24:Short distance from town, very quiet, very friendly staff, clean and nice rooms (rooms like a 4 star hotel). Parking on site.

Review 37:Very helpful staff with good english. Lovely location in the countryside yet less than 10 mins walk to the harbour and cafes etc
Review 38:Very steep walk down to restaurants and bars.
Review 39:Room was very comfortable, very large bathroom with spa bath and walk in shower.
Review 40:A very relaxing and pleasant stay.We enjoyed the wine tour. Our hosts werre very friendly and helpful. Getaria in the sun was idyllic.

Review 47:The ambience
Review 48:Small hotel with lovely staff, great situation, freshly prepared breakfast. Very comfortable bed with their wine in the mini bar at a great price.
Review 49:The staff where really absolute wonderful and the hotel was splendid. We can recommend it to everyone who search for a hotel.
Review 50:At this price, there was nothing about it that I didn't like.
Review 51:The friendliness of the Lady who runs the hotel; the feeling of personal service. The location and the smartness of the hotel and its rooms, and above all, the feeling that whoever is running this operation really cares about the quality of the guests' experience. -Oh, and the bathroom. Better than most more expensive hotels!
Review 52:Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean, this lovely small hotel deserves four stars rather than two. It was slightly difficult to find (sat-nav very helpful) but is a lovely peaceful rural retreat. It is set in vineyards and is on the eddge of the little town of Gaintza, which had great strategic significance in Napoleonic times. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and was included in the price. We booked the junior suite which had its own balcony and a spa bath. We were sorry that our stay was for one night only
Review 53:located out of Getaria, with a steep approach by foot. Easily reached by car
Review 54:clean comfortable room, very good service, great breakfast, moderate roomrate
Review 55:I can't think of anything!
Review 56:A beautiful location and very easy access to the small town. Exquisitely designed and maintained decor and extremely helpful and friendly staff.
Review 57:I loved the location of the hotel in vineyards and sitting above the fishing village. The maitre'd was lovely and extremely helpful. Excellent location to the village, restaurants, beach and the Balenciaga Museum. The museum is a must visit if you love fashion and haute couture.
Review 58:No balcony to our room, and no outside area to sit in - they need to cut the small area of grass they have!
Review 59:Easy walk to town for food, beach, etc - also right on path of Camino de Santiago for wonderful walk over to neighbouring Zumaia..
Review 60:Beautiful Inn in a vineyard setting along the coast. Close to San Sebastion without being in the city. Great cycling in the area. The Inn was wonderful... clean, very comfortable. The hospitality was over the top. This is a family run business and the owners obviously take pride in what they do.
Review 61:As we were enough lucy to stay several days we had the problem that the breakfast although it wasn't bad or poor (freshly squeezed orange juice every day) it was without variety and a little bit tiring
Review 62:The hotel was exactly as described and depicted in photos. Clean, quiet, with all the amenities and comforts on a hilltop above Getaria surrounded by vineyards. The staff were polite and discreet and willing to help us even in small everyday difficulties of our journey. We stayed in the largest room which was really BIG with a large balkony, large bathroom and jacuzzi
Review 63:Located within a winery, just on the edge of town an easy walk in.Great breakfast fresh expresso coffe and juice . Friendly staff free tour of winery.Great decor very quiet room with view of surruonding mountains.Would definitely stay again.
Review 64:Perhaps a tiny fridge in room but just for personal use would be good.
Review 65:Proximity to coast/beach and the countryside. Walking distance to many restaurants. Many walks either countryside or the wonderful paved walk to nearby town. Outlook over vineyard from room was fantastic. Rooms modern, clean and very comfortable.Parking for car was easy. Breakfast good.
