Reviews for Villas Playas de Fornells
Review 1:We booked the villa 8 months ago, then with two weeks to go we were notified that the villa wasn't available for the first two days out of the seven. We were offered an alternative villa near Mahon. This was no good to us as we wanted to go to Fornells area, with all the amenities it has in easy reach. After complaining we did get confirmation we could stay the full seven days at the villa we had booked and paid for. On arrival we then found that the air conditioning (which we pay extra for ) was not working in any of the bedrooms) it apparently broke the morning we arrived? We were left with very hot, sleepless nights, until day 6 when the A/C was repaired, but this meant having 4 work men drilling and hanging around for the day. We did get given one fan on day 3 after complaining, however, it didn't make any difference to our comfort. So all in all not a good holiday, and not what we had paid all lot of money for. It is sadly probably the last time we go, if we cannot be certain you will get what you expect.
Review 2:Our third trip to these villas - Great location. quiet, walking distance to the beach and restaurants, bars, super markets. You don't need a car unless you want to explore the island.
Review 3:A lovely, cool villa with high ceiling and lots of space. Great location with fabulous views. Really lovely pool which entertained two teenagers for a whole week. Supermarket and good restaurants nearby. Long, sandy beach within 5 mins walk. Note: has only 2 sun-beds (no problem for us) Has Wi-Fi and parking, but no DVD. Loved it here and will be back as soon as we can.
Review 4:I was initially disappointed with the standard of the villa given the price paid. We have stayed in much nicer villas in Lanzarote and Cyprus for half the price - although accommodation in Menorca seems generally much more expensive! The overall feeling with this villa is that it is a bit tired and could do with a bit of a make over. It has 3 bedrooms and states that it can sleep 6, but there were only 5 chairs around the dining table and only 4 sun loungers. When we arrived only 4 beds had been made up rather than 6, and there was only 4 sets of towels. This was probably a simple mistake and was quickly put right by the management. The kitchen utensils are very minimal so if you were on a budget and wanted to eat in a few nights you could struggle - there isn't even a bread knife! The fridge looks quite old and took ages to re-cool once we filled it with supplies on the first day! There are very steep stairs leading down to the villa so it wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues. The boiler kept breaking while we were there so we didn't always have hot water, although the management did come and re-set it each time very quickly and in the end were apparently ordering a replacement part so hopefully this will no longer be a problem. The swimming pool became cloudy towards the end of the week but was again remedied quickly by the management once noticed.
Review 5:We stayed in villa 3 which is very well located with fantastic views across the bay from the raised terrace/BBQ area. There is a supermarket and 3 bars/restaurants within a 2 minute walk. Es Cactus had the best menu and bar Okapi was great for happy hour and has a table outside on the corner which is great for looking out over the bay and watching the world go by! Playa de Fornells is a very quiet and pretty resort so ideal for families with younger children but may not be lively enough for those with teenagers! There is a small beach with very shallow water so again ideal for young children. There is a larger beach which can be accessed over the top of the cliff by wooden steps but there are no facilities so go prepared with food and water. The private pool is a decent size with ample area around for sunbathing. The villa has 2 outside sitting areas which gives plenty of space for larger families to get away from each other for a while if needed!! The management on site are very helpful and were quick to respond to any problems - but don't speak English so be prepared with your phrase book or Google Translate! :-) We were pleasantly surprised that even though the booking details advised that there is no parking, there was room for parking immediately behind the villa and the kids were delighted that there was free Wi-Fi!!
Review 6:It wasn't the cleanest place given the cost. We had to clean all the kitchen stuff and all the terrace furniture. Not enough cups/plates etc. Two air conditioning units didn't work and neither did our fridge. This was replaced after a chase up over the phone. Also we noticed that the smoke alarm had no battery in it!!!
Review 7:The villa is beautifully situated, we had wonderful views across the bay. The pool area is lovely and the villa is well set out. The gardens were well kept. Nice to have a TV and DVD player.

Review 11:Water in pool too cold at start of season!
Review 12:Nice pool
Review 13:Felt it was a case of internet fraud as this was advertised as beingworth 12,000 Euros and now available at 2,000 Euros, implying amagnificent and luxurious villa which is wasn't . However, you wouldnever in your wildest dreams consider paying 12,000 for what we got -the premises were average and not very clean (I don't think thecleaner had ever swept under the sofas); the windows and mirrors hadbeen washed with dirty cloths and were smeared and dirty (we had toclean the mirror to see in it); the crockery was chipped and broken and3 of the coffee cups had no handles; the kitchen utensils were poorquality; the Teflon frying pans had no Teflon left!
Review 14:The swimming pool and the views and the location in terms ofaccessibility to other places.
