Reviews for Hotel Boutique La Mar - Adults Only
Review 1:Poor signage of hotels location, thin walls could hear ALL our neighbours noises? Breakfast overpriced, no tea coffee facilities in room
Review 2:A family run hotel with excellent views of the bay, sea view room a must, location to castle, shops and restaurants. Small welcome gift of water and orange juice in fridge
Review 3:Everything was wonderful only disappointment was the weather which is out of everyones control.
Review 4:Beautiful location on the beach, balcony overlooking the sea was lovely. Very friendly staff especially Diana on the reception desk who was always very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing and roof top terrace was an unexpected delight. Parking was safe in underground car park. Papa Luna Castle right behind the hotel.
Review 5:The cleaning staff were a little overzealous in their use of cleaner, so we had to keep the doors/windows open to air out the room when we checked in.
Review 6:The location of the hotel is very good. The room was very nice, as was the bathroom. We had a room with castle view on the 3rd (top floor) and really enjoyed the balcony. Our room was directly across the hall from the roof-top terrace which was very convenient. The Terrace had very nice views of the Mediterranean. The staff were very friendly, but had very limited english, which, paired with our very limited spanish made check-in interesting. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, it was a bit pricey for our tastes, as are most of the restaurants on this the street. We were able to get wine glasses and utensils from the restaurant so we could enjoy wine and snacks that we had bought on our balcony.
Review 7:Nothing!
Review 8:Martin & Family run a superb small impeccably clean & friendly hotel in a fantastic location. We go there by train as no need for a car if like us 2/3 nights is what you want . Lunch or dinner is to die for !! ( 3 rd visit)
Review 9:If I had to complain, I would say driving to the hotel is a bit complicated and although parking is provided, it's a little bit of a walk. The bed was also a little firm for our taste
Review 10:Great hotel at a great location! It's very quaint and cozy and the beach is at your door step! We absolutely loved it! Peñiscola is the hidden gem of the Iberian peninsula.
Review 11:Surprisingly quiet in room at back of hotel. Nice amenities and an exceptionally good dinner on a half board package. Excellent fresh fish beautifully cooked
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Perfect location Ok not accessible by car but a little walk and you are on a beautiful spot.lovely terrace on the roof with bartender in the evening.
Review 14:Everything from the moment we arrived was great - friendly staff who went out of their way to provide us with fresh beach towels every day sometimes even getting new ones for the afternoon if they'd got particularly sandy. Also the roof terrace has a great bar and most evenings was just us up there watching the sun drop down behind the hill drinking wonderful cocktails. great location - seconds to the beach and with the castle right behind with great restaurants and cute little stalls. Such a wonderful room - my husband is 6"5 and he could like both lengthways and sideways on the bed and only just touch each end! The Jacuzzi bath was wonderful as well particularly after a day of paddle boarding to ease those poor legs.
Review 15:Essentially a Spanish resort for the Spanish and some French. Not much choice of food if you're not keen on fish. Very busy beach with limited sun-beds & umbrellas.
Review 16:The hotel was spotless and the people were very helpful (especially Martin the 3rd). Limited English spoken, but this was mostly overcome without too many problems. Lovely balcony on the top floor with views of the sea. Would recommend a sea-facing room.
Review 17:This is not an issue with the hotel but as with all busy resorts parking can be difficult. There is a small car park about 50 metres from the door of the hotel where you can park for a small charge to drop off the cases. The hotel can provide a parking card for the main underground car park about 300 metres away for a very reasonable charge and it enable you to come and go as you please.
Review 18:The location below the town walls was superb. Easy to get to the restaurants and bars in both the old and new towns. Very good breakfast including omelettes, bacon, cooked to order. Very friendly, helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. We had a superior double with a balcony and glorious see and bay views. The room was very clean and modern, with a comfortable bed and walk in shower. You can also enjoy the excellent views from the well furnished roof terrace.
Review 19:Can't drive to the hotel so park nearby and walk down the cobbled street. No problem for us.
Review 20:Modern hotel with friendly staff, great location and beautiful views from the roof terrace.
Review 21:No comfortable chairs in the rooms. No lounge area to sit and read and no bar, although drinks were available from reception. The wifi was very slow, less than 1Mbs
Review 22:The staff, the location and the cleanliness were very good. The hotel was also very quiet. The food at dinner was adequate. Good undercover, public, parking at €7 per night.
Review 23:Nothing whatsoever to complain about.
Review 24:Everything. Staff was really nice and helpful, room was everything we needed, clean and comfortable. The location could not be better. Right at the entrance to the old city and you have the sea and beach right in front. Really excellent place!
Review 25:Bathroom door opened the wrong way, the room a bit too small for a long stay.
Review 26:The shower, bed, cleanliness, view of the castle wall, heating that worked, peace and quiet.
Review 27:The wifi signal was quite poor and our particular room did not have a sea view. There is no vehicular access to the hotel so needed to carry cases a little way but plenty of secure underground parking close by.
Review 28:just about everything. This small but very personal hotel has been finished to the highest quality, impeccably clean and comfortable. We both enjoyed the quality breakfast every morning and also one evening meal sitting outside by the sea.
Review 29:Nothing. It was great
Review 30:Loved the romantic spot. Had a well furnished rooftop terrace that was exquisite. Martin and his wife we so attentive and willing to help in every way
Review 31:The hotel is in a great location. Modern, rooms spotless and well appointed. Good food on-site and all around. Martine and his staff were fabulous. Tip: Ask for ocean view!
Review 32:This is not a boutique hotel! The rooms were very narrow with supporting pillars interfering with flow. Like many Spanish hotels attention to detail was lacking - there was dust and stains. After 7 years of crisis still no understanding of how to attract repeat custom.
Review 33:The position of the hotel is fabulous for the castle and old town. Martin and Olga were very helpful. The ambience, design and decor of the hotel were good. Bathrooms very well appointed. Bed super comfy.
Review 34:The owners mother manages the restaurant, she was a but dower, didn't speak English, and didn't appreciate me trying to speak Spanish. Bed was not that comfortable.
Review 35:The roof top terrace was fantastic - although there was not a bar there. We were the only ones to use it, great for sitting, chilling and reading. This was the cleanest hotel I have every stayed in - and I usually go away for about 8 breaks a year. Very quiet hotel, we only saw 1 other couple during our stay. The food in the restaurant downstairs was good - starter was lovely, but the main course was not as good - we had the salad for starter. We had a room with a sea view, very private terrace.
Review 36:Wonderful daily owned hotel with extremely nice staff. Hotel is extremely clean and beautiful. The city center is an easy stroll but there are great restaurants right nearby and the beach is less than a minute walk.

Review 51:the hotel was situated right by the beach, rooms clean
Review 52:Great location with fantastic view of the beach. We had a room with seaview and we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony everyday. The room was clean and of good size. We were warmly welcomed by the host who gave a short introduction to Peniscola. Parking free of charge nearby hotel.
Review 53:Just a point of attention: no elevator in the building
Review 54:We enjoyed a lot our stay in the hostal, everything was up to our expectations and even better: big room, stable Internet connection, parking close to the hostal and very pleasant and extremely helpful staff
Review 55:no breakfast option & no bar open for a late drink in May. we believe full facilities are only available at weekends. with full facilities from July onwards.
Review 56:the owners Martin & Olga were very helpfull & friendly speaking good english. The sea facing room offered outstanding views bar none. rooms are standard & very clean but with no pretence to any luxuries. the situation is immediately next to the magnificent castle & old town a truely splendid place. There is a big choice of good places to eat very nearbye budget 10 to 25 euros per person We loved it.
