Reviews for Hotel Arenas del Mar - Adults Only

Review 1:The flying-ups airplanes make a lot of noise. Weak noise isolation of rooms.

Review 2:Excellent breakfast and lunch. Excellent seaside view. Excellent personal.

Review 3:disappointed that there was lack of evening entertainment-not much to do in the evening and also disappointed that there were no bars or shops in the area so a very long walk to El Medano centre.

Review 4:It was very peaceful and quiet. Being an adults only hotel it was lovely not to see kids running around!

Review 5:Impossible to sleep before midnight or before the last noisy person left the ground floor communal drinking area which is situated in the middle of all of the rooms at ground level The noise is amplified and funnels upwards affecting all rooms There is no ceiling which is needed to contain the sound Alternatively there is a perfectly adequate large side room with a ceiling to contain the noise of progressively drunk people drinking free all inclusive alcohol

Review 6:View variety of food staff friendliness

Review 7:This is nice hotel with a direct access to the beach, 10 minutes taxi ride from the airport. I'm quite a fussy eater, but the food was good with lots of things to choose from. The staff is helpful and kind, especially Matteo, Vicky at the reception and Maria at the pool bar, who were just great. I would say it's a perfect place for those who want a quiet and relaxing holiday

Review 8:Food selection was a little limited, but what was available was usually nice. Bar terrace area only opened when the bar opened at 4.00pm, but it would have been nice to have been able to sit there earlier in the day, even if the bar was closed.

Review 9:The junior suite was extremely comfortable and well laid out.

Review 10:The quality of the desserts didn't match the rest of the food. The size of the water bottles was very small so had to constantly replenish.

Review 11:Good food with lots of fresh fruit and salads; nice view from restaurant; plenty of sun loungers; nice suite with seating area; beautiful views from the room and balcony over to the local volcano and within walking distance of several local beaches and the town.

Review 12:Food although generally ok was a bit repetitive and there wasn't a great deal of cooking done by the chefs

Review 13:Location by the beach and sea and short walk into the resort.

Review 14:Live music was played in the main lobby area on some evenings and due to the open plan of the hotel and no double doors to rooms, the sound made its way quite loudly all the way to the 5th floor. Some of the desserts were tasteless. For 2-3 days of the 6 full days I spent there, housekeeping didn't re-stock my shower/bath gel which was an inconvenience as I didn't bring any of my own with me.

Review 15:Good beds Junior suite was lovely Nice pool area Good pool towel system Good pool bar Nice staff Good food (no boredom set in during a week of All-Inclusive) Beautiful interior in the public areas in particular Nice massage in the spa No children around

Review 16:We had booked all inclusive and we had included the afternoon tea, unfortunaly we couldnt try becuase when we got to the bar the waiter told us that food was finished even though afternoon tea was still been served. It was quite disappointed. The bathroom in the suite wasn't very good and it was damp in the ceiling.

Review 17:The staff in the restaurant and pool bar were very friendly and kind. Not very nice the waiter in the bar. They gave us an upgrade from junior suite to suite.

Review 18:The "eerie" factor that this kind of architectural design can give you. It's like Metropolis+Gattaca...but real and with an all inclusive option

Review 19:Regardless of what some reviewers say i liked the "prison-like" architecture. The interior of the hotel looks like a futuristic, post apocalyptic, high-tech, hive living quarters. Everything is symmetric and well thought of, everything is practical and in its own place. From the location of the towel hangers in the bathroom, to the small place on the balcony that allows you to stare out into the sunset without having the sun in your eyes. All of it is just practical....Almost...too practical...

Review 20:No tea coffe making facilities in room. Food very repetitive, but ate out a couple of times and always found something

Review 21:Booked at last min as flights to Sharm canx. Matt on entertainment was great, made us feel welcome straight away, as were all the bar/restaurant staff. Brilliant transfer, less than 15 mins and less than €15. Great room, I think we were upgraded 214

Review 22:Probably the lack of typical bar/lounge area to socialise it has a big tv room and sofas outside this and then another wee bar area and roof top area there was on evenings lack of sitting area and the tv lounge seemed a waste of good space where no one sat. Air con didn't seem that great hot in restaurant area and that was October.

Review 23:We liked the peacefulness as were just needing a bit of r n r. It was all inclusive but when we were there no one seemed to be getting silly with drink. There was plentiful food to stop you needing snacks as they were not that available anyway compared to some all inclusive but this was our first and found it satisfactory otherwise may just eat for sake of eating. The menu would maybe be repetitive if there for a fortnight. Staff were very helpful and worked hard to please. It is a little isolated but a nice walk into local town which was not commercialised so good to have a drink /eat or browse the shops and harbour and surfers. We would probably not return as we don't tend to do that too many other places to see but would recommend to friends.

Review 24:One day my room was cleaned. Cleaner threw away my plastic bag for liquids on the plane. Wifi not great.

Review 25:Facilities are great, with nice staff and good food!

Review 26:Beds and sun bed regime needs to be managed better and Spa should be included. Pool area nice but limited

Review 27:For a 5 day break ideal but don't expect a luxurious canary island experience as most guests British or German and caters to ( bingo and roast dinners ) but for a value for money escape to the sun with very helpful staff and a good location very near the airport it was ideal. Happy we came ? yes , come again , doubt it but that's us !

Review 28:We thought it was a complete shambles in the dining room with too few staff, no one to show guests to a table we had to find our own table which was not really a problem but then most of the time the table was not laid.

Review 29:The room (516) is very nice with a good view, reception and reception staff are very good.

Review 30:Air conditioning throughout resort very poor. I couldnt sleep well due to it being too warm and in the restaurants it was uncomfortable too. Also evening entertainment left a lot to be desired. Live music or comedy to lift the mood. Major let down for the otherwise beautiful resort.

Review 31:I liked the laid back atmosphere from the very welcoming receptionist to the maid.

Review 32:The food was very westernized, no local food so we ended up eating out a lot and the alcoholic drinks available were not great making the all inclusive package not very suitable. A lot of the same people were always in first to put their towels on deck chairs early and taking up the events room/veranda not giving the others a chance to partake in activities or get a decent chair by the pool area. Do not use the bus service, actually feared for our lives!!!!

Review 33:Room was a good size and comfortable, the area and view was outstanding. Really enjoyed the spa and massage for two. Great for couples!

Review 34:All inclusive expired at the bar 11pm each night, after that had to purchase own drinks, that was disappointing, any other all inclusive we have stayed had this has not been the case....

Review 35:Fabulous location 5 minute walk into El Medano, great nightly entertainment from Bingo, to quiz nights, live music, exotic bird show.....

Review 36:Whilst myself & daughter where in our room one of the wardrobe doors fell off, it hit my leg & knee I did just manage to stop it hitting my daughter who was lying on the bed at the time. It was repaired very quickly but we where both very shaken up, It would have been nice if we'd been offered a complimentary massage to help us relax.

Review 37:adults only.

Review 38:spa extra Pool a bit small Long ish walk to restaurants Poor quality of coffee and fruit juices. Machines! Noisy at night due to maintenance and also loud music from bar area

Review 39:helpful staff General quality of hotel

Review 40:We liked the room with the view over the sea. We liked the buffet meals, breakfast and dinner, we enjoyed swimming in the pool and the two spa sessions. The staff were very helpful especially when booking excursions.

Review 41:Dining room chairs were hard to sit on and did not look clean. Buffet dining often meant that the food was not hot just warm albeit varied. No good wanting an early night as music entertainment right next door to disabled rooms but it did quieten down shortly after 11pm.

Review 42:Our ground floor room was perfect for a wheelchair user and ease of access to balcony. The seawater pool was wonderful and graduated steps made it easy to enter. Staff were always on hand to help! Richard, the activities organiser, was brilliant!

Review 43:The bathroom was really good, the down side there was now where to hang your towels or a place to put shower gel etc.

Review 44:All the staff. The disabled bedroom was first class. Also nice being adult only

Review 45:Food very poor meat cooked within an inch of its life trying too hard should concentrate on fewer dishes more local flavours

Review 46:Location location location

Review 47:Quiet location outside of the main village. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Spacious rooms with large balcony. Heated outdoor pool and nice spar facilities.

Review 48:Not the hotels fault but el medano is a windy place. Great for those who want to wind/kite surf which is why we went there with my daughter.

Review 49:Had two (312and313) lovely rooms with great view of sea and mountains with afternoon/evening sun.

Review 50:No tea coffee making facilities in room. I like a cup of tea when I first wake up No apparent signage for gym even in the lift Cost of Leisure pool for week

Review 51:Room very clean and comfortable Dining - always good choice and quality Friendly and helpful Staff throughout the Hotel Location Adults only

Review 52:It is so sad that this hotel, what could be a wonderful place ,is not taking care of. The furnisher is damaged, the bathroom armatures are in a very bad shape. The sofa and seats were very dusty and also in the restaurant the chairs are filthy.Since it is an all inclusive hotel, the other guests with half board don't get served. The personal is to busy with cleaning the dishes away and it has a cantina feeling with a lot of noise. There is an other restaurant , but it was closed. The personal is not friendly and not helpful.Maybe because of the all inclusive customers which are eating and eating…And since the hotel is open in the middle for all the floors, you can hear all the noise from the lounge and reception even on the last floor.Very loud. What a pity since it is a nice location.

Review 53:The lady at the reception "Vicky" was very friendly and nice. She even gave us a free upgrade with sea view. The whole hotel is very nice and the rooms are big and comfortable. The bathroom is big enough. The pool area is good with a wonderful view.

Review 54:For a relaxing winter holiday the only problem was the the wind it is very windy . The resteraunt could have rotated the menus more we had roast leg of pork at least six times and roast chicken once

Review 55:When we arrived we were given an upgrade Staff were friendly . Hotel lovely and clean .

Review 56:WiFi is slow. The Al a Carte restaurant was still not open, it would be good to have the choice, when not "all inclusive".

Review 57:The rooms are well equipped, stylish and comfortable. Good choice for breakfast. We like the location, close enough to walk into El Medano and not too far to drive to the airport.

Review 58:Food good but without the variety it used to have. Above all pool was cold ....different from previous...it was warmed up slightly on request---but is such a good feature it needs more attention

Review 59:Most of it ....have been before.

Review 60:No coffee/tea making facilities in the room Leaving :)

Review 61:Its was strange to have no noise from children Choice of food A good base for excursions to othet parts of the island Close to the airport

Review 62:AC not cool enough

Review 63:We love the hotel & the staff are lovely & helpful.Large rooms relaxing, plenty of sun loungers, good selection of food, clean, free WiFi, We will visit again.

Review 64:The food was always fresh & if we couldn't be bothered to choose somthing it was down to us but when the chef changed the options where not quite as appetising, possibly we has been spoiled earlier .

Review 65:We love the hotel & the staff are lovely & helpful. And we will visit again.

Review 66:Our toilet bowl was not cleaned even once in 8 nights. Very poor internet experience. This needs to be looked into urgently. Very infrequent shuttle service and this should be complementary considering the remoteness of the hotel.

Review 67:Room quite large and good food and sea view

Review 68:The rental bikes were in poor state, people "reserving" spots by the pool, AC not cool enough.

Review 69:Good value for money. Close to the beach, fridge, shop in house, rental bikes available, nice junior suite.

Review 70:People staying at the hotel generally do not consider that other people are sleeping in the night time. there is noise from people packing, moving furniture and so on. Please make clear to peopple that there is supposed to be quiet at night. This the reason that I will probably never go back to your place. I just did not sleep good

Review 71:the spa, friendly staff, good food

Review 72:Small flashing lights (fire detector) in the ceiling in the bedroom doesn't help for a good nights sleep. Good thing having one, but why does it need to flash?

Review 73:Full wifi reception only available close to restaurant and pool area. My room was 503 and I only ever got 1 or 2 bar wifi reception. This was very poor. Most of the time, only 1 person on reception. This is very poor for a 4 star hotel. In the evenings, the male receptionist would leave reception unattended, to stand outside smoking cigarettes. Sometimes 3 times in an hour with the phone ringing and customers waiting in reception. Air conditioning in restaurant is very poor and staff do not allow windows to be opened. Staff do not stop male customers from wearing shorts in the restaurant for dinner. Staff do not stop customers from taking food and drink out of the restaurant. Quality and variety of food in the restaurant was very average. Cheap packets of shower gel in junior suite rooms - very poor for a 4 star hotel. Room not cleaned until after 14:00 on some days. Pool staff do not stop sunbeds being reserved or stop customers from jumping into the pool or playing ball games in the pool. Most of the time the lifeguard was never watching the pool.

Review 74:My sea view junior suite. Good location, away from the noise of the central plaza. Adults only. Ruth and Vicky at reception were always very helpful.

Review 75:I didn't like the food as we were having the same food every day and no varieties of food. I could get only one type of drink as all inclusive and I had to be on the queue for 20 min specially in evenings. They shut down all the sun beds at 5 pm when the sun is still strong. they asked me to pay for food as they had ran out of it! overall, I do not recommend this hotel for young couples as I believe they keen to be served nice and have more activities in the hotel.

Review 76:I liked the location and atmosphere the most.

Review 77:Junior suite room was very comfortable and a lot of space for rest. Great food and best location.

Review 78:Beds Pool snacks Plane noise

Review 79:Great staff Great food and drinks Short trip from the airport

Review 80:Everything

Review 81:Food at dinner buffet .a little too canteen style .every thing else was spot on

Review 82:Matteo is a top man

Review 83:Bed was really uncomfortable

Review 84:Loved our stay here amazing friendly staff so helpful gorgeous hotel would definitely stay again

Review 85:The weather, The location. The staff at the reception.

Review 86:Sea view suite fantastic. Very helpful friendly staff. Lovely position, right on the beach and just a short walk into the town.

Review 87:Nothing

Review 88:Staff are just superb, Xavi and Matt we loved the most. If you want to chill, this is the place

Review 89:Breakfast, not considering an horrible coffe

Review 90:The hotel was excellent, the food was good always plenty of choice

Review 91:Dining options for B&B guests limited. Slow WiFi. No kettle in apartment.

Review 92:No kids. Outstanding view from sea facing apartments.

Review 93:None really

Review 94:Friendliness of staff and value for money on inclusive deal

Review 95:Hotel would not refund me when I had to cut short my stay due to family reasons. Totally unsympathetic.

Review 96:Unable to find anything I didn't like

Review 97:Loved everything, trying to think of a negative but can't! Great having cava as a choice of drink

Review 98:it is a little remote from local shops, restaurants etc.

Review 99:Food was excellent. Swimming pool very good

Review 100:Toiletries poor in the room.

Review 101:Food good and awesome suite with sea views. Maid service excellant

Review 102:Facilities & Staff

Review 103:A bit clinical

Review 104:Close to airport, no kids, on beach

Review 105:Evening bingo and games. Bit hi de hi. Butlins.

Review 106:Food generally very good, somet tepid dishes but plenty if variety.

Review 107:WiFi was not reliable

Review 108:Poor location as quite isolated. Not much in local town. Very windy most days. Poor entertainment which started at 10:30pm and no fully inclusive drinks after 11pm.

Review 109:decent food, no screaming kids. Hotel was very clean and staff friendly and helpful.

Review 110:This is the second time we have stayed at the Hotel Arenas del Mar and once again had a really good holiday with it continuing to have the added bonus of being an adults only hotel. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is good with a varied choice and the hotel is kept spotlessly clean. We even had an unexpected but very welcome gift voucher for use of the spa facilities as we were returning guests. Would definately recommend.

Review 111:- small safe (my laptop 15,6'' couldn't fit in) and with a key (instead of a code) - "sea side" room with 75% of land and only 25% of sea - food was tasteless and not always very fresh - far from restaurants and shops in El Medano (15 min walk) - wifi was unstable

Review 112:- size of the rooms - nice personnel - no childrens

Review 113:1. The spa facilities/indoor pool, etc are not included in the cost of your stay. 18E pp per 2 hour session. So to use it daily for a week add 252Euro to your costs for total stay. 2. They also charge you even for the key to your safe (3Euro per day); when I commented to a man called Israel at reception that I thought I was staying in a four star not a two star he laughed in my face and told me a 5* would charge me 5Euro per day so I should be grateful. 3. Which leads me to attitude of staff. With the exception of Angelo on reception, most of them were rather surly. On the first night we paid 20Euro each for buffet dinner and 5 mins after we'd gone up once to get salad, etc. they cleared the lot up - no warning to go and get some cheese, pudding, etc. Breakfast buffet is pretty good but don't try for a coffee at 10:01, you should be so lucky. And don't expect tea/coffee facilities in your room either - you have to go downstairs and buy machine coffee. 4. Saltwater pool. This annoyed me the most by far. The only other thing I would say is it is on a peninsula well suited to windsurfing - so expect a stiff breeze and get down to the loungers early if you want to get one of the few which are sheltered. All in all we had a good stay, but that was more because of the resort than the hotel.

Review 114:Modern decor, quite a recent hotel. Wide choice for breakfast. Shortwalk into town where there are some good Spanish restaurants so no needto go half-board. You can also get a bus to Las Americas if you'recurious but El Medano is refreshingly Spanish. We got upgraded to thesea view room which was very nice and made up for the othershortcomings, but it would have annoyed me if we'd paid for it asyou can only see the sea if you stand up - sitting down you'll bestaring at a concrete balustrade. Supermarket next door to buy water, bread, ham, etc so you don't have to buy their lunch if you want todo your own thing.

Review 115:The appearance of the hotel was very depressing especially from a distance going towards El Medano. and looking back at it. It resembled a huge great prison and very unwelcoming especially as the other buildings were very nicely painted in bright colours and the hotel was such a dowdy grey colour. It really did spoil the whole outlook especially as it overpowered all the other buildings.

Review 116:The hotel was clean and staff were very helpful and obliging. The food was very good and varied

Review 117:Reception staff were a little over worked/short staffed. The were always in a rush and the queues were to long to really ask them anything other than the basics. They forgot my 3:30am wake up call on the day I flew home, could have potentially ended in tears if I hadn't also set the alarm on my phone! But everything else more than made up for this.

Review 118:Very clean, fantastic spa, good entertainment and facilities, good food, friendly staff!

Review 119:Cava should be included in local drinks All Inclusive package! I have never stayed in AI hotel in Spain where it has NOT been included before! Surly waiting staff in restaurant.

Review 120:Janet who ran the pool bar! Her Sangria was wonderful! Rooms were huge and spotless. All inclusive food was excellent! Front of House desk staff welcoming and friendly.

Review 121:You need to pay extra money to entry to indoor swimming pool

Review 122:Room was nice and space, beautiful sea view, we had half board and food was fantastic and huge choice. Also beautiful outdoor heated swimming pool. I would definitely stay in this hotel again

Review 123:Food was sometimes cold, entertainment wasn't great and there wasn't much to do locally

Review 124:Lovely hotel, relaxing, friendly staff, plenty of sun loungers, good selection of food, clean, large rooms

Review 125:Too short of staff in both reception and restaurants make you have to wait too long for even small requests. PS the "ocean view" is quite limited from many of the rooms - more like beach view...

Review 126:Warm pool, close to the beach. Nice village close to the hotel. Good SPA-treatments. Spacious rooms. Nice view from the restaurant.

Review 127:The hotel is a bit far from everything, and the area around the hotel can be very windy. Definitely need to rent a car here. The food could be better. The coffee was terrible. Not enough hours for the all inclusive meals.

Review 128:We got a jr. suite with ocean view and it was spacious and clean. The swimming pool is lovely and a very nice place to spend the afternoon. The staff were friendly.

Review 129:Not enough information, either directional or in the room of how to access facilities in the hotel, for example the spa and the al la carte restaurant (which unfortunately was closed on the night we were there). Some of the fixtures and fittings are beginning to look a little tired and in need of attention.

Review 130:The general surroundings are tasteful and well designed and excellent value for money. We were pleased with the junior suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. We will certainly stay at this hotel again.

Review 131:Didn´t like location. Noise from planes. 15 mins walk to village & not much when you got there. Chipped crockery, sheets worn

Review 132:Room was modern, and looked good but on closer inspection was a little tired -see negatives. Close to airport. Meals were acceptable.

Review 133:No wifi in rooms, no tea/coffee facilities, hotel didn't have aniron !! Menu same each day but edible

Review 134:Close to airport Clean, great views, good standard throughout. Comparedto other hotels in the area tips was close to Spanish 4* Beautifullywarm salt water pool

Review 135:Everything was dissapointing in this hotel. The rooms are located in acell block ambiance, similar to the jail appearance from the outside. The room is big but divided by a hughe storage, leaving two smallrooms. The matresses are terrible, the hotel is noisy and for a fourstar beach hotel you would expect a little more than two sacks ofshowergel/shampoo and one piece of soap. Carefull if you bookhalfboard (medio pension) because the prices charges for everythingare enormous while quality is sickening. Don't think this is aluxury treat!

Review 136:The lady receptionist was friendly. Also the spa had friendly andskilled staff for a masage

The Fine Print

Please note that entrance to the Spa has an extra cost.Adults are considered to be over 18 years old. Please note that men are required to wear long trousers to dinner.
