Reviews for Parade Hotel
Review 1:White Check in lady at reception, not friendly at all! Should stay at the back please.
Review 2:The location is perfect, good sea view from my room. Very clean Enjoyed their breakfast too.
Review 3:As above. I hated that hotel from checking in. Unprofessional!!!!
Review 4:Nothing!!!! NO aircon and its 40' outside. Noisy outside until late at night. Room too small, can hardly move. Bathroom small, not standard size.vagrants outside hotel, everyday. No aircon was the worse ever vacay!!!!!
Review 5:Room was very hot and stuffy. No aircon and the fan was noisy. It was difficult to sleep. Could be better if rooms had no carpet.
Review 6:The location, staff and breakfast.
Review 7:The advert said 'sea facing' which is a bit misleading. The room we had (209) is very small for a family room, the carpet is not so clean, shower not so clean and the fact that there is no air conditioning was horrible
Review 8:Only the location
Review 9:Sea view and the room 503 itself color and comfort was just amazing.
Review 10:Very affordable and comfortable, the sea view was amazing. It will surely be my first to consider for future visit
Review 11:Supa service, friendly and helpful staff members. the discount uShaka Marine World tickets was an excellent idea. this was a super idea. my husband say its rated as 2star, but he got 5star service...keep it up. A definite return, this time with the entire family.
Review 12:Breakfast that finishes at 9:00, really? Restaurant staff were very rude to patrons. the carpets were not very clean.
Review 13:Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 14:The place is at the prime area l would like to visit the place in the future.
Review 15:Is a nice place but the is a lot to be done. I don't know where to start.
Review 16:None
Review 17:The price were affordable, it was convenient for my children, we didn't have to travel long distance to go to beach, or ushaka marine. The place was perfect . I'm going to start make payments for next next. I'll also invite my friends, my family. Thank parade for your hospitality.
Review 18:furniture and floors were not that clean, when i cleaned up some spilled water from the floor and chair, the cloth was quite dirty. nails sticking out of floor. very noisy fan( couldn't sleep with it on.
Review 19:friendly staff, location, room decor, bathrooms, clean linnen, sea views, bteakfast. Overall, good value for money in peak season.
Review 20:Room I was allocated, no breathing space, too small. I had to ask for another room. Renovations was a problem. An old white lady at reception was not friendly at all, does not meet requirements of a receptionist, the other two young ladies were ok.
Review 21:Location of the hotel-next to sea and shops
Review 22:The Wi-Fi did not work and the television reception was bad. But seeing that the hotel is under reconstruction, those are things that are understandable. Hopefully that will be fixed soon.
Review 23:When I arrived at the Hotel, Booking.com did forget to reserve my room. Luckily I had the booking confirmation with me. The receptionist was very friendly and booked me into a room on the third floor next to the dining room. I thought that was extremely helpful. Room had a view on the City, the Harbour and the South Beach. It was very hot but the fans provided did the job.
Review 24:There was nothing I didn't like
Review 25:The welcoming spirit of the staff and the hospitality was so warm I can recommend parade hotel to anyone who would like to visit Durban
Review 26:Hotel did not provide bottled water. There was no arrangement for other meals whatsoever. Some rooms did not have carpets. No provision of aerosol to kill mosquitoes in rooms.
Review 27:Staff was very friendly . Location is excellent and sea views are also excellent from the rooms. Breakfast was so good that we felt as though we were at home. Excellent ventilation including fans as weather is quite hot and humid
Review 28:My room the fan made too much noise when turned on.we were forced to switch it off
Review 29:Breakfast.the money paid I got more expected.Breakfast was very nice.the view was good.coming back definitely.pls don't increase the rates too high because it accomadate us who like good things and affordable.
Review 30:Rooms are small and can only fit double beds. Just finish your renovations and improve services. Offer your clients Wi-Fi for free.
Review 31:Staff was great. Food was good. The view outside was excellent. Keep up the good work.
Review 32:The bathroom is too small, showering or using the toilet was really a mission. Our bedding was only changed after our third day there and the glasses were just rinsed and placed back for us to use instead of being replaced with clean ones. There is no aircon so it gets too hot. There is a carpet stench in the passages. There's no microwave in the room. Breakfast was greasy and bland.
Review 33:The location is great. The breakfast staff were friendly. There is 24 hour security at the door. The rooms are quite modern. The room had a great view of the sea. The freshly baked muffins at breakfast were great.
Review 34:My employee was booked in for 1 night and he refused to stay - said it felt more like a brothel. And was undergoing renovations from a residential block of flats to a hotel which was very unpleasant.
Review 35:SMALL SHOWER. RENOVATIONS WITHOUT INFORMING ME AND IF I KNEW I WOULD NOT HAVE STAYED THERE. NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY. NO AIRCONS JUST FANS. VERY NOISY. HAD A HIP REPLACEMENT AND THEN HAD TO CLIMB STAIRS TO 1ST FLOOR TO GET LIFT.
Review 36:THE STAFF WAS REALLY FRIENDLY.
Review 37:We asked for a room high-up in the hotel to avoid noise. We were placed on the first floor directly above the Reception (Room 102)- an never-ending chattering of security staff and people stopping in to chat. The middle of the night was the worst, with people leaving the pub downstairs and standing in the street laughing and chatting at the tops of their voices. I advised them that my husband is an amputee and we requested a room with a bath. We were told by one Leandie that they had no rooms with baths but they would make a plan. On arrival nothing had been put in place to accommodate my husband in the shower. In fact the shower door was hanging off its hinge. Further, knowing my husband was an amputee, no one informed us that the lift was out of order. We had to walk up two flights of stairs. What would have happened if he had been in a wheelchair? The air conditioner was not working and the ceiling fan made such a noise. We asked them to fix it which they did. The safe, which we were advised to use to lock-away our valuables, juust fell to pieces when we tried to lock-up our things. They did a running repair, but had to subsequently repair it a further 3 times. Breakfast was interesting. We asked for a cheese omlette and the woman doing the cooking picked-up the grated cheese in her hands and sprinkled it on top of the eggs. Very unhygienic. They had no tomatoes the second day and said they hadn;t ordered more. The plates were ice-cold. Altogether one of the worst-ever hotel experiences. Never again.
Review 38:The location....very near to hot spot crime area. We were robbed.
Review 39:The staff were excellent....housekeeping and restaurant. Reception reckon due to a very low rate you must take what you get I. e staff at the desk not being friendly. Very young porter not assisting with luggage. etc.
Review 40:The visiting hours was too early to close if myb it could be 12h00
Review 41:The cleanes the view everything abt it nxt time I wll know where to go when m in Durban
Review 42:The weather was very windy and the wind was blowing through the windows and they were not closing properly, so one could not sleep because of the noise. Secondly the room was very cold no extra blankets or electric blanket for that matter. The Hotel reception is so not up to standard and its very smelly (like old rotten carpet). There is no phone inside the room you need to travel to reception and the lift was not working from Ground to 1st floor.. I was not happy at all. There was no breakfast provided since I left before 6
Review 43:The only thing I liked is that I was just next to the sea
Review 44:what i like most the staff where like sisters to us the view of the sea break fast cleaniness of the rooms every thing to me was perfect i hope and wish that i would be going back very soon.but what i would love to see change the its acherk out time i think they should make it 14:00 but evry think was the best
Review 45:The lift was not working and I had to walk far up as I was staying on the 5th floor. The pillows were very hard. The bath tub was not sealed of properly.(its a great place with a top location just a few small flaws that needs to be sorted out)I will be returning to the hotel tho in Feb or March.
Review 46:The location and view from my room was amazing. The beach and takeaways were near by.
Review 47:Great budget hotel - each time I go there is an improvement in the facilities as they are renovating - breakfast is a pleasant experience within an old world dining room.
Review 48:It was only the toilet that didn't flush but I had reported it.
Review 49:The staff were so friendly and the breakfast had variety to choose from. it was delicious.
Review 50:I loved the rooms and the service from Barbara at reception was exceptional. What a lady!! Also loved the chef she was so friendly. The whole environment was intimate and amazing
Review 51:Lift is scaring, because of renovation passage is not clean that is understandable.
Review 52:See view, location, enough space, breakfast, close to entertainment like sun cost casino, beaches,we enjoyed to be there,we will come again next time and I will recommend pared hottel to my friends and family
Review 53:The other window in my room could not close properly, It was not good because I was travelling with a child.
Review 54:I had a very nice view, toiletries were provided as promised, the staff was friendly.
Review 55:Beyond their control their was some building alterations but these were overall well managed.
Review 56:It was clean and neat and provided.what I needed for my stay.
Review 57:We could not go in at 12 and then the room was not that was advertised and the building is under construction. After we complained it was sorted management were excellent.
Review 58:The breakfast were very nice
Review 59:I hav to wait for my key as the room was not ready by 12hoo was only ready by 14hoo.and I requested two twin beds for two bedroom but I got one room with twin beds and one with a double bed.
Review 60:I liked the fact that males who were standing at reception were helpful with my luggage.having to eat breakfast before I go out.all staff members were friendly
Review 61:Unfortunately due to renovations, the lift could only be accessed from level 1, but minimal inconvenience was experienced.
Review 62:Friendly & helpful staff especially Ms Ettie. Great breakfast. Clean rooms and the view from our room was amazing.
Review 63:We were treated with respect.. We were really really accommodated properly. Everything was just made easier, and for that thank you to everyone. Shout out to Bongani
Review 64:Not cleean, didnt feel safe, the finishings are not up to a any 3 star rating, the room was not anything like i saw on booking.com, i hae a neighbour that smoked
Review 65:location
Review 66:The room was not that nice, wall plug socket was just hanging with cables out even after reporting it when I got there.
Review 67:It is in a very good location, a walking distance to most Durban attractions and lcoal bus station. We didn't need a car, except at night.
Review 68:Apart from undergoing renovations, there was a hole in the floor in our apartment. the hot water took ages to heat up & after our second-night's stay, there was no hot water the morning there of.
Review 69:No working elevator. The floors should rather be covered with tiles. Mats are not hygienic.
Review 70:Hearty breakfast, fantastic location at a great price with friendly staff!
Review 71:Nothing..not that I have anything bad or hidden...they're an honest establishment
Review 72:Everything was perfect...they could tolerate my jokes about me taking them to court if they don't accommodate me during December and they treated like a king
Review 73:They did not have a microwave, we could not warm up food. The water will be cold at some stages when u need to take a shower. We arranged a baby cot and when we got there it wasn't in our room. It was an inconvenient to stay in a room that doesn't have a bath tub when u with a baby whose 23months. The lift was smelling bad inside.the reception couches are very old and uncomfortable, reception should be the attraction of the hotel as they say first impression counts.
Review 74:The breakfast was more than great. The fact that it was near the attractions was more than great. The sea view was a bonus
Review 75:The first room we were given was not renovated and was old, tatty and not worth staying in. We asked to change rooms and the staff accommodated us.
Review 76:Very good value, great location, nice newly renovated room
Review 77:Our booking was not on their system
Review 78:They made every effort to find us a room after our booking was not on their system. Fortunately we had a confirmation email.
Review 79:I made my booking in advance only to arrive at the hotel and be told I don't have a booking..even though I had email confirmations and everything...The staff was rude and Unhelpful to this day i am still awaiting a call from her with info
Review 80:Absolutely nothing
Review 81:when we arrive we din't feel welcome, the receptionist were both busy on the phones with personal calls, we had to wait to be assisted. The rooms were too small, there was no telephone in our rooms to contact the reception. our room was having cockroaches.
Review 82:The location of the place was near the beach and easy access to public transport and the cars parking was safe
Review 83:there are no phones in the room and you need to go the reception when u require something. What if there are emergencies
Review 84:The location is well suited for a short trip
Review 85:Advised to park the car away from the hotel in a multi story car park for safety, which meant a walk back to the hotel when had just arrived. Though we were able to park and unload our bags first.
Review 86:Comfy clean rooms, great views out to sea and friendly staff. Easy, but longish walk to the tourist office.
Review 87:Water was not coming out from the shower. No plates facilities in the room in case you have bought your own dinner No desert in your breakfast its significant please for future. Type of toilet paper is not up to standards of other competitors . Consider changing your dining room times preferably from 06:30 to 10:00 not 9:00. Consider changing departure time to 11:00 but now these are recommendations.
Review 88:View was very good and the staff attitude.Hotel is located at the right place where most shops are easily accessible . Breakfast was appetising and tasty of course.
Review 89:The old staircase, very scary we couldn't use, likely our room wasn't far
Review 90:Bongani the reception manager is the best, he solved every problem we had encountered like a pro
Review 91:Nothing
Review 92:The staff is really kind and helpful. This place had the best value for money among all the hotels visited in SA by us. I also liked the interior: the place has antique atmosphere yet modern and fully renovated. The location is great: right at the promenade.
Review 93:Well parade hotel is a lovely intimate hotel with friendly staff from reception to cleaners, security we had a lovely home away from home standard of the hotel is equivilent to 5star hotels. I will definately come back again
Review 94:The hotel had no trace of our booking and we did not get an ocean view as promised when we booked. Seemed very unprofessional. In the room - they forgot to give us coffee so we only had creamers and sweeteners.
Review 95:Location was fine.
Review 96:The reception area is run down and could use a serious renovation. The breakfast area had very little staff attending.
Review 97:The room was clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rate was reasonable
Review 98:The staff can be incredibly rude, the late check in time of 12pm is far too late. When we checked in they gave us a double, even though we had asked for a twin room.
Review 99:The location was good, the twin rooms i stayed in were nice, nice view
Review 100:Just the fact that the Wi-Fi didn't work at all. it only worked the first day, there after I could not log on. I really hope they can fix this, Wi-Fi is very important for people travelling on business.
Review 101:The staff, very friendly. Especially the front office staff such as Bongani, Nosipho, and the other two ladies I cannot remember their names. The cleaning and the kitchen staff were also very friendly. The breakfast was lovely, the ladies cleaned everyday and the my room was very comfortable. But the price was even better, it was affordable for a nice place like that. Love it.
Review 102:Noisy cleaning staff in the passage in the morning and room above was being set at up as alternate entertaining space before six in the morning so we were frustrated with sleep been broken early.
Review 103:I am on a special diet, so the breakfast didn't really cater to my requirements, lack of fresh fruit and healthy breakfast options. The wifi was not great at all. On some days when I woke up late I couldn't take a hot shower.
Review 104:I liked the location, it's so wonderful 2 minutes from the beach, the view is spectacular, my room was small but cosy and nice and they cleaned it very well each day. The place has something antique and old about it which made it quaint and wonderful.
Review 105:I will suggest that all rooms should have the carpets not the plank floor, pls..
Review 106:The cleanliness, the good hearted staff & the availabilty of facilities-eg iron, the fridge in d house. It's a wow.
Review 107:The hotel does not have its own parking facilities. The plank/wood flooring gives rise to some noise in the mornings when neighbors children run off to the beach.
Review 108:The hotel is situated on the Durban beach front and within walking distance of factory outlet s etc. There are a number good food outlets around the hotel. The Suncoast casino is close by.
Review 109:Main door had a glass window above it which brought in toomuch light at night and being a light sleeper I struggled to sleep as there was no way of blocking that lights from the passage.
Review 110:Simple things like getting cleaning stuff brighter uniform. Not the darker brown that looks worn out and dated.
Review 111:The night receptionist, who was an older lady was the most unfriendly and unhelpful person I have ever come across as a receptionist.
Review 112:The location of the Hotel was excellent, central to tourist attractions.
Review 113:The bed was uncomfortable and sunken-woke up with spine and neck pain. no aircon in the room. No extra blanket.
Review 114:The hospitality of all the staff members. Easy to check in/check out. The cleanliness. Breakfast was very well cooked, tasty and enough for everyone.
Review 115:Soooo many students during my stay - other then tay = perfect.
Review 116:Wonderful location, minutes to walk between uShaka Marine world and start of the Ricksha bus, right there on the famous 'Golden Mile'. Extra friendly staff Clean, small rooms with everything in it you would need and a view! Delicious breakfast, parking right in front on the street.
Review 117:the staff were friendly, helpful and they went out of they way to help us.this was my first time in Durban but it's was excellent were are even think of bring the kids next tme
Review 118:Watreses not servesing the table. You siy with dishes of the other courses Thats very untidy. In the bedrooms lack of rooibos tea and dusty floors.
Review 119:Location and rooms
Review 120:On my last night a group of school children moved in next to my room and they made noise pass midnight, I talked to them once they tried to act softly but they were excited and I couldn't let them surfer cause I did like the noise. Management should have known better then to admit a bunch of teenagers on the same floor as adult visitors. Hopefully they will do better planning next time
Review 121:The room was very comfortable and neat and that is all that counts really
Review 122:The white woman at the receptionist who is wearing glasses No telephoneStaff dishing food while guests are eating breakfast Was Never informedabout the WiFi Generator should be used in cases of load sheddingBreakfast a bit dry
Review 123:Staff were friendly Location Bar area nice Rooms nice View of the oceanSafe Close to all amenities Cleanliness of the room Value for money
Review 124:The window of our room did not lock, posing a security risk as the room was adjacent to another connected by a balcony which could allow easy access to either room. Upon reporting this the receptionist was least interested and confirmed that there are no available rooms. Only when I asked to speak to the GM was I taken seriously and suddenly a room became available.
Review 125:The view is spectacular and the location is perfect.
Review 126:Please combine the beds to make one big double bed to increase comfortability
Review 127:The cleanliness of the rooms, the sea view and the breakfast was awesome.
Review 128:First the room didn't,smell nice at all when we arrived threw the complete stay, and the breakfast was not what we expect it would be.
Review 129:The lady at reception was very helpful and friendly
Review 130:very dirty head board, stayed in room 409 very small room asked prior to arrival for best room possible but dont think we were given that. Breakfast is average.
Review 131:location, bar area
Review 132:Asked the reception if they have wifi they said no but in the guest book in the room it said there was wifi.information available at reception. Only found out once we were leaving that there was wifi. Staff needs to be informed. Making it better for guests
Review 133:Just a personal thing - but my room wasn't dark enough at night. The bedroom doors have a small window above them. The light from the passage, at night, was a bit distracting for me. The older lady that sits at reception was the least friendliest staff member. She never greeted me once, or responded to my presence at the reception counter. I thought this was a pity - as other guests may not have had the chance to meet the friendlier staff when they checked in...
Review 134:I thought the staff at reception were very welcoming. Even though they had one or two call to attend to, they kept acknowledging my presence and attended to me as soon as they could. I really enjoyed my stay, and felt extremely comfortable in my room. The room was clean and neat. The cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly to me, as was the security guard at the main entrance as well as the breakfast crew. I will definitely stay there again.
Review 135:Loadshedding, no light at the corridoor (4th floor ). No telephone in the room. Staff dishing food while we having breakfast.
Review 136:I was allocated a room as I requested. My needs were met. The hotel exceeded my expectations. Cleanliness of the room.
Review 137:Nothing really the hotel is improving every time I go there, thank you.
Review 138:I loved everything, the room, the bed and as young couple, we wanted a get away just the two of us, and the hotel provided exactly what we were looking for.
