Reviews for Hotel Cervantes
Review 1:Door lock on our room broke so we missed breakfast... Room and decor a bit tired but happy to have such an excellent spot.
Review 2:Lovely people, excellent location, parking very close by.
Review 3:A bit expensive for such a simple room with no breakfast.
Review 4:Great location, close enough to city center, museum and theatre but (10 min walking) but a bit off side so its quiet. We parked outside but the underground parking deal for 10 euros per day was good.
Review 5:Wi-Fi is free, but very unstable and slow. In order to be connected I had to seat near the entrance door. The staff is very friendly, but doesn't speak English, so basic knowledge of Spanish is very helpful.
Review 6:The hotel is located in the historical center of Merida (close to all historical sights) and 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Rooms are large and comfortable. Breakfast a la carte is served in the cafe, which works separately. Cost/value ratio is very good.
Review 7:Very small bathroom and almost no outlets, nor was there a remote control for the TV.
Review 8:Great location very convenient both to the train station and to the Roman ruins.
Review 9:Some reviews were negative saying that the hotel was tired looking. I did not find it to be so. Biggest complaint was spotty wifi
Review 10:Good location and adequate facilities
Review 11:The heater in the room barely was able to keep it comfortable when the overnight temperature dropped to 3°C
Review 12:The Hotel Cervantes is in a great location with easy access to/from the train station (2 blocks). It's also within easy walks (several blocks) of many sites in Merida: Puente Romano, El Templo de Diana, Teatro y Anfiteatro Romano, Acueducto de los Milagros.
Review 13:Dirty sheets. I had to ask other bedroom. Bad room smell. And in morning all building smell to breakfast Good location, but it was not enough in relation with the price Bad in general
Review 14:The location was excellent. very well placed to wander the streets and the Plaza Mayor in the evening. The parking was secure and convenient. the room was very comfortable and very clean,
Review 15:Very good value no frills, comfortable accommodation in a central location. It was brilliant to have private parking in the town centre. Just a pity there was no wifi. The staff simply said they didn't have it available- without any further explanation. From memory, their website had indicated it would be available in all areas of the hotel which was also the claim made in the hotel's brochure which we found in the reception area.
Review 16:Cafe closed on Sunday night but so is most of this part of Spain. Room safe broken
Review 17:Air conditioning was good. outside temp 38 degrees. Right in the middle of town and most of the Roman ruins. Good tapas available nearby
Review 18:every thing ok for price.
Review 19:good value town centre hotel, air con good. staff friendly let me put motorcycle in their private garage, cost 5 euros extra well worth it as i did not have to unpack moto. lots of bars handy for food &drinks nearby or use hotel bar.3rd stay and will stay again good budget hotel.
Review 20:Wi-fi did not function in my room, only in the lobby. TV was vintage crt, it should be upgraded to flat screen
Review 21:Complimentary breakfast, easy to find, friendly desk clerk
Review 22:Bed was quite uncomfortable and I was locked in the hotel overnight. When I was departing quite early I had to wake the desk agent to check/let me out
Review 23:The location was great, room was very clean
Review 24:Location
Review 25:Todo en general.
Review 26:The Wi-Fi was slow and unstable. The staff did not speak English
Review 27:The location was great and the facilities were very clean.
Review 28:Very simple but good location!

Review 30:Very basic room, no hair dryer, staff unhelpful with tourist sites, map given was very poor
Review 31:Location & car park

Review 34:The room was cold
Review 35:Parking
Review 36:The local area not too good but passable.
Review 37:The hotel was comfortable and the staff very pleasant.
Review 38:Everything is old. Breakfast doesn't have a choice.
Review 39:Just location only.
Review 40:lack of hot water when i arrived after walking long distance,it was late in the evening before i got hot water,

Review 45:Bar closed, no breakfast included
Review 46:Location, friendly and helpful front desk personnel.
Review 47:poor breakfast, non English speakig staff, car park fiasco and overcharged
Review 48:location
Review 49:Wi-fi in the rooms was quite poor. A bit better in the lobby, though. My A/C unit wasn't working, so I had to sleep with the window open (fortunately, it was still spring).
Review 50:Its location. Not only is it close to the train station, but also within walking distance to the city centre.
Review 51:Wifi connections were weak...otherwise a good deal.
Review 52:It was clean... Good value for money....the bathroom was good with toiletries. Close to the Railway station.
Review 53:Unfortunately the air conditioning was struggling in the room we had this time, so it was a bit hot to sleep.
Review 54:Good location, so although the hotel restaurant was not open, we were able to walk to a choice of other restaurants. Our second visit so it was good to know we could park under cover nearby.
Review 55:Staff not over friendly which I thought was due to complacency. The room was very basic and not especially clean or comfortable. The wifi was poor.
Review 56:Location was great - right in the middle of Merida, but it was very noisy.
Review 57:Breakfast in the café connected to the hotel was a bit sloppy -- only one waiter for too many customers.
Review 58:Good location for sights an restaurants. Staff was nice and helpful (they even helped me print out a document I needed urgently). Nice, functional room. Complete bathroom (including bidet!), even if somewhat small. Contrary to most reviews, we found Wi-Fi worked excellently (with our MacBook)!
Review 59:Minor negatives: Parking is a bit expensive but it is very convenient to be able to leave the car and walk. It was a shame the restaurant did not open until 9pm but there were places to eat nearby.
Review 60:One of the very best stops we have made when driving through Spain. Hotel is central to all the sights and only a few minutes walk from most of them. Compliments to Merida; we were very impressed with our visit to the amphitheatre and theatre.
Review 61:Parking charges, although the undercover parking was secure. Beware of vehicle height only 2.04mtr which some campervan would not fit under. Very scruffy area of town. Breakfast is served in their public bar. WiFi very intermittent.
Review 62:Bedding and room clean, easy walk to the sites of merida
Review 63:WIFi signal variable in room
Review 64:Good location for access when arriving by car and within walking distance of all historic sites. Very good TEX Mex restaurant close by with good cheap Portuguese menu.
Review 65:Shower did not work. Heating did not work. Car park very expensive. The "No Smoking" room reeked of cigarettes. The hotel bar was small, expensive and without character.
Review 66:absolutely nothing.
Review 67:One of the, if not the, finest hotels in the Iberian penisula. Outrageous luxury with the personal touch. Nothing was left to chance and the 20 meter roof top pool with its views over the Roman ruins is a spectacular place for a sundowner. Delicious regional cooking with an imaginative touch capped a truly splendid stay. Absolutely top drawer and a bargain too!
Review 68:good location, secure parking, helpful staff even though he did not speak English. Breakfast was not much but was included in the very reasonable price.
Review 69:Room's ordinary, but only there to sleep.
Review 70:Secure car parking a big plus. Relatively easy to find with Navman and looking out for signs in town. Great location - can walk to everything; lots of food choices nearby.
Review 71:The room I had (201) is a miss-fit at odd angles that mean you walk into the hanging TV to get to the wardrobe , or around the bed.
Review 72:Very helpfull staff, secure parking ( about 70m away) , a good bar and a easy walk to the attractions.
Review 73:The air conditoner was hard to work. It had one old one and one new one and one should have been removed. The towel rack in front of the sink came loose and fell on my foot
Review 74:It was nicely located, had great wifi and parking. It also had a nice breakfast. It was a good basic hotel for the price
Review 75:Though OK, rooms were not very attractive or large.
Review 76:This hotel was exceptionally well located within walking distance of most attractions. Very reasonably priced. Good wifi/internet facilities. good on-site bar and restaurant. Parking available.
Review 77:Would have had to pay for all buildings even though only wanted to see some so walked round outside only.
Review 78:Hotel was well situated near station and town centre with historic buildings
Review 79:Wifi - dreadful. Have 4 wifi stations but each goes off after about a minute, and stays off for varying periods, so downloads of even small docos are impossible. Effectively there is NO wifi so don't stay there if you need wifi.
Review 80:Decent room, close to everything
Review 81:Noisy road traffic made it difficult to open windows for extra cooling at night.
Review 82:Convenient to all the Roman ruins in Merida. Good access to multiple restaurants and shopping.
Review 83:Add another 10 Euro to your bill if you arrive by car.
Review 84:We parked our car and walked to all the attraction, very central.Parking was 50m around the corner.
Review 85:Room was dark, old and tired. Staff offhand. Wouldn't rush back
Review 86:It did the job but one night was plenty. It had a lift and wifi.
Review 87:no wi-fi
Review 88:the restaurant bar is noisy
Review 89:Spotty Wi-Fi in the room, though could always get it in the lobby.
Review 90:Location, secure parking available.
Review 91:Bit noisy on street during night.
Review 92:Great location to sights. comfy and clean. Parking good.
Review 93:Advertised itself as a Hotel, arrived to find that it was actually a Hostal
Review 94:Surprisingly little spoken English by the staff. Breakfast was very simple and not enough at all.
Review 95:Wifi connection was great.
Review 96:The location of the hotel is excellent. Only short walk from the plaza and roman theater. The hotel offered good price-quality. Basic clean rooms.
Review 97:Very good location, close to train station and within easy walking distance of centre and ruins.
Review 98:Room key did not work everyday for 3 days. No WiFi reception in room and hardly anything inlobby
Review 99:Good parking. Helpful front desk staff.
Review 100:An excellently run hotel right in the centre of town with a good cafe/restaurant. Very comfortable stay. I would recommend it highly.
Review 101:Nothing to fault
Review 102:The location & cost
Review 103:Seemed dated. Make sure you check in before parking. Cervantes car park close to hotel. This is not Hotel car park
Review 104:Position in town.
Review 105:The location was excellent...we could walk everywhere we wanted to see.
Review 106:No towels, noisy electric equipment.
Review 107:good location ,parking near by.
Review 108:wonderful terrace for breakfast, friendly staff, parking available
Review 109:Nothing
Review 110:The staff were friendly helped with my poor Spanish. Breakfast was goodand there was a busy bar a buzz about the place. Price wa good
Review 111:Cafeteria rather expensive for the quality of food and drinks.
Review 112:Position excellent, just outside city walls.
Review 113:Noisy
Review 114:The location and the low price
Review 115:breakfast not value for money.
Review 116:staff very helpful..location excellent.. parking very good..
Review 117:The staff were superb, the room was comfortable and the location was perfect for seeing a very interesting town. We will stay there again.

Review 119:Bathroom didnt smell properly. Just an incident I guess.
