Reviews for Hostal Emeritae

Review 1:Completely renovated to high and modern standards! Great location with parking facilities at 100 meters away. You can drive to the front door for quick unloading of luggage and you will be escorted to the parking. Helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast is easy and dirt cheap in nearby cafetarias.

Review 2:Good location in central Merida, convenient to Roman ruins and other sights. We walked everywhere. Spotless rooms, we had 2, one a triple for adult sons, other a double with a balcony, which we enjoyed even in December after the rain stopped.

Review 3:A small hotel, but extremely comfortable, located on the very center of the Roman monuments' complex of Mérida. Very nice people, always willing to help. Excellent restaurant (Nico Jimenez) around the corner. If you are able to walk 5' from the nearest parking lot (Cervantes) and accept to have breakfast in a nice coffee shop close by... this is the best choice.

Review 4:1. location: near Museo Nacional de Arte Romano, Roman theater & amphitheater and other scenic spots 2. hostal environment and interior decoration

Review 5:Unfortunately we had a bad experience in this hostal. We couldn't sleep at all due to an awful smell coming from ducts of air conditioning. Also keeping the window opened it was impossible! We hope the owners will take an action before somebody else will have such inconvenience.

Review 6:a bit noisy but is wasn't fatal

Review 7:it is a hostal, but one from the category of hotels. very clean, comfortable, made on high level. nice and helpful stuff. location is perfect - 10 min from the railway station walking, and 7-10 min to Roman Theatre, all the next sightseengs can be reached in 30-40 minutes by walking, no problem to find a nice place to eat, i liked staying there .

Review 8:It's OK if you can find it. Thought I was going round the bend as I spent 2 hours driving around. They had not only repainted the hotel a different colour and structurally altered the frontage, they had also changed the name!!!!!A simple e-mail could have told us all we needed to know! On the day we arrived the street was closed too.

Review 9:The room was comfortable and overlooked a quiet street. There was a friendly and efficient welcome. The hostel is very close to the tourist attractions.

Review 10:No complaints really the air con failed in my room and the switched me to another which was good

Review 11:The hotel has recently been built / refurbished. It has a good location near to restaurants shops and the amphitheater

Review 12:New hostel next to all major sights! All within walking distance. Great town to visit!

Review 13:Everything is perfect, but if they had breakfast it was extra perfect.

Review 14:Really friendly staff and perfect location, all smiles!

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Nice Hostel in a quite street, good service and coffee machine & snacks

Review 17:VERY convenient location; staff at desk and room cleaning staff were very welcoming and helpful - they made my time in Mérida a great experience!

Review 18:Great new place...we were here for our gig in Maruja limon!!! Courtesy and clean!!!!

Review 19:Would have liked a countertop or shelf to put toiletries. Hooks in bath would also be nice.

Review 20:Cleanliness.

Review 21:Perfect location! Nice staff and decorations! Clean though a little smell of decoration. Anyway, highly recommended!

Review 22:Good location and value for money.

Review 23:Nothing Really

Review 24:Staff was very helpful

Review 25:access difficult by car because part of the street is resticted to pedestrians

Review 26:nice & quiet hotel

Review 27:Everything is new and clean. The staff was very kind to listen to my request of having a quiet room.

Review 28:LA CAMA DE MATRIMINIO HORRIBLE.

Review 29:TODO EN GENERAL

Review 30:It was not the standard we expected.

Review 31:Location

Review 32:Modern decor very pleasant. Clean. Right in city center at walking distance to all historic monuments. Recommended!

Review 33:Nothing to point out

Review 34:Very good location, clean, friendly staff, balcony with a small shower to refresh was a really nice surprise

Review 35:Location for visiting the ruins is fantastic.

Review 36:The hostal, although reasonably clean, is very basic. Unfortunately the bedroom accommodation was really only acceptable. The rooms could do with some basic renovation. The plug in the bathroom came out of it's socket when we tried to use it, and the plugs in the bedroom are in a ridiculous place, behind the bed. The paint needs a touch-up and the mould in the bathroom could be addressed. The shower was a nightmare to work. The knobs came out of place and twisted in all directions causing us to get saturated by the powerful and hot water, nearly scalding us. It took about 10 minutes to finally work it correctly. The rooms are badly insulated causing us to wake up several times during the night hearing people walk about above. Also the rooms were cold, adding to the discomfort. And the beds could do with being renewed. The wi-fi reception is also terrible in the room constantly losing it's signal. The furniture could be updated. It'd be nice to have tea-making facilities like they do in places in Ireland.

Review 37:The two male staff that were at reception (on arrival and departure) were very friendly. There is no parking at the hostal but the hostal has two parking places nearby which are reasonably priced.

Review 38:Other clients can be heard coming and going at night if they are a bit noisy .

Review 39:A very central location, very helpful staff, small but comfortable room. Overall an excellent place to stay for a few nights if visiting Merida.

Review 40:No street parking nearby but the hotel will arrange parking for a small fee. Alternatively, if you go up to Roman theatre and amphitheatre you will find parking on the perimeter of that site, which isn't a long walk from the hotel.

Review 41:Helpful staff, quaint décor - lovely prints on the walls of S American ladies and a hand painted basin in the bathroom, round the corner from the main Roman site. Our room overlooked the street, but it was really quiet - but it was early in the year. We stayed on our way south and liked it so much we booked again on the way back.

Review 42:Spanish mattresses all seem to be uncomfortable.

Review 43:Basic but I liked the fact that it is part of the old town and just round the corner from the temple of Diana.

Review 44:Bad smell from the drain in the bathroom that fortunately did not reach the bedroom once the door closed.

Review 45:Best possible location. Good room, quiet and clean. The host at reception was very nice and helpful. We could even get a private indoor parking nearby for our rental car.

Review 46:It was a perfect place to discover beautiful Merida. It's near to historic monuments, to restaurants, shops, etc. The staff in incredibly kind. Rooms are beautifully decorated, with it's own bathroom. It is very clean and a very good deal. I would recommend it to people who wants to visit Merida.

Review 47:Shower temperature very hard to regulate. Private parking area was veryhard to get to due to narrow one way streets, ended up driving wrong waydown the street to get there - scary!

Review 48:Great price, close to old town, bed comfy, staff helpful. We thoughtwe'd booked a quadruple room but ended up with twin adjoining roomswhich was fantastic. Nice internal courtyard in common area. Secureparking 8 euro / day.

Review 49:Hostal Alfarero has a good location, close to the museum and tourist information centre as well as a variety of places to eat. Friendly and helpful staff and good value.

Review 50:My room happened to be on the street side so it was a bit noisy but there are other non-street side rooms. I did get to love the nightly Spanish ruckus on the street and to appreciate it's uniqueness. Spain at night-what a delight!

Review 51:I lucked out in finding this place. Clean, tastefully furnished, the MOST comfortable bed & pillows, friendly staff, great location. Highly recommended!

Review 52:There was an awful sewer smell in the bathroom in our room that was overwhelming at times, even though they had the window open. Also the shower stall seal needed to be replaced. The shower took a bit of time to figure out - don't bother with the massage jets as they don't work properly. We were there only one night but it was the most expensive place we stayed in and not worth the 46 € paid.

Review 53:The location is great! The staff at the front desk were very good at check in and out and they gave us very good recommendations for dining and coffee options.

Review 54:Difficult to find in narrow one way streets.

Review 55:Location perfect for seeing the Roman ruins and museum. Helpful and friendly staff. Cute interior garden where you can smoke. Moorish decor.Parking nearby.

Review 56:A lovely little hotel in the heart of Merida.Once the car was parked, a couple of hundred metres away, then everything is accessible. Just down the road from the ampitheatre and the "tren turistico" Take the road train (a bit cheesy I know) for a fact finding locator of all the Roman monuments. Hotel was very good value for money.

Review 57:WiFi is only available in the common space.

Review 58:The location is very close both to the station and the theater Roman. hotel is beautiful, especially the common space.

Review 59:Street was noisy and Internet availability poor.

Review 60:Friendly and helpful service from Fernando and Juan. Lovely big room. Five minutes from museum, Roman amphitheatre and theatre. Close to shops and restaurants.

Review 61:The owners made a great effort to make my stay comfortable. The hotel was perfectly situated to view all the ancient sites. It was most convenient to shops and restaurants. I really enjoyed my stay there and I would book it again and will recommend it to my friends

Review 62:I loved all the ceramics in the hostal. Our bags were carried up as I had to go and park the car and my travel companion had leg, back and arm problems.

Review 63:This hotel was in a great location and the staff was very friendly. We arrived late in the afternoon were given lots of good recommendations for places to eat and have a drink. The man working at the desk offered to take our bags to our room or show us around if we had any questions. The rooms were good sized and comfortable.

Review 64:El baño olía muy fuerte a cañerías viejas. The plumbing must be a bit old and the pipes have quite a strong smell in the bathroom.

Juan, the receptionist, was very nice and gave us a few recommendations for dinner that were pretty good. The hostel is in the centre of the city which makes it very easy to walk to all the tourist places. If you're looking for a decent place in a central location this is a good choice.
