Reviews for Las Abadías
Review 1:We booked the hostel because of the good rating, but we were totally disappointed! The rooms and the bathrooms were old-fashioned and very small. But the worst thing was that the walls and doors are very very very thin and you can here almost everything from your neighbours or the lift. We would not stay there a second time...
Review 2:Parking was tricky with its entrance halfway down the street and that the lights went out while inside and we had to use our flashlight to find the underground door to the hotel.
Review 3:It had safe underground parking and reasonable rates
Review 4:Isolated location, small room, limited space if this was a superior room I would hate to see a standard size room.
Review 5:Secure parking at 9€ perday. 1day was sufficient to see the sites. a town requiring a bit of a lift.
Review 6:The location was quite far from the very center of the town, the breakfast was a bit scarce and no cappuccino! The Wi-Fi signal was sometimes weak in the room
Review 7:The staff was amazingly friendly and kind, the spaces were tidy and clean, excellent quality for the price
Review 8:Travesseiro!
Review 12:I didn't like the location. It was far away from the bus station and the center.
Review 13:I accidentally booked a hostel in merida Mexico instead of Spain so I was lucky to have anything but I did feel like this hostel wasn't in the best of areas. The guy at that front was really nice and helpful.
Review 14:We booked here on the basis of secure parking and were not disappointed. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. With no restaurant, breakfast was available in your room, but we didn´t take it as we needed an early start. The hotel is within walking distance (just!) of the town attractions, although I did need a cerveza by the time I got there!
Review 15:Lights in the corridor are getting of too fast
Review 16:Overall nice location, short walk to the aqueduct Free parking places on the quite street near the hotel
Review 17:Although it was on the booking page that there were extra charges the extra fees for parking and per pet made the total cost at the Hostal the same as I paid the night before in a 4 star hotel that made no extra charge for these facilities
Review 18:Easy stop off from motorway en route south from Santander. Away from town centre in a quiet residential estate, nearby is a great value small Spanish cafe which is neccesary as no on site food. Breakfast is coffee, bread, pate and muffins but no cold meat, cheese or fruit so not quite a continental breakfast
Review 19:A long way from town - a bit far to walk but this was mitigated by the tasty bar/eateries within a couple of hundred yards.
Review 20:Nice large private terrace with table and chair. Clean bright room (mine was bright purple) and nice shower room. Wood floor much warmer than the usual tiles. Staff very pleasant. Three very nice local bars nearby serving good beer and cheap filling suppers and breakfast and their barmen/owners were really friendly
Review 21:Noise. Lots of noise. Construction or something going on in adjacent apartments, knocking and scraping noises late into the night and again early in the morning. Absolutely no sound insulation, so other guests travels and conversations are intrusive. The place was noisy, bedding threadbare, and decor spartan. Not commensurate to the price, which was the same as many other places we stayed over the previous 16 days in Spain and Portugal, but in stark contrast to some wonderful accommodations in other similar cities.
Review 22:Adequate free parking on dead end street the Hostal fronts. Nothing else to like, but the staff tries hard to please, despite. Kudos to them.
Review 23:Nothing to dislike.
Review 24:The walking distance was not too bad. They served breakfast as it was part of the cost of the room, even if we left too early to sample their breakfast offer.
Review 25:The web-site said it was a 10 minute walk to the town from the residential area in which the hostel is located. That is wrong -it takes 20 minutes. There are few (none) places nearby to eat at night
Review 26:Only one of the staff has limited English, but they were very pleasant and wanted to please.
Review 27:Could hear people from 1/2/3 rooms away. Plus all doors slamming . The automatic doors/gates very loud.
Review 28:Very clean, easy to find, nice guy at front desk, underground parking very good
Review 29:Very hot 20 minute walk into town, although stopped to photograph the aqueduct which was a positive. The breakfast was OK, mostly pre-packaged but filled the gap! Didn't need to book parking for our old car as there was plenty of on-street parking right outside the hostal, and in the shade.
Review 30:Very easy to find when driving into Merida. Staff very helpful - provided map and information about walk into town, taxis, places to eat etc. Near the Roman aqueduct. Underground parking available. Breakfast in room - asked for this at 7.30 so we could leave early.
Review 31:Parking was on the residential street it was on, and the street could be full of cars. It was not near any restaurants and cafés within walking distance.
Review 32:The staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. It was very clean and comfortable. The décor was simple but modern. The complementary continental breakfast was good and brought to your door. Air conditioning and WiFi worked great. Nice residential neighborhood.
Review 33:This Hostel is very welcoming and is within easy walking distance of the town, but if you need a closer place to eat and drink there is a pleasant local bar restaurant 350 metres away in Calle Astorga opposite the pharmacy.
Review 34:Good, clean accommodation with parking close to the city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 35:The walls were very thin and we could hear everything in the adjacent rooms.
Review 36:Clean and nicely decorated room. Friendly staff. Good value for money.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Super friendly and helpful staff. Very clean room, excellent value for money
Review 39:Plaza mayor and tapas bars
Review 40:Our room had very noisy neighbours I think the noise came through from the adjoining apartments
Review 41:Good secure parking
Review 42:WiFi did not reach my room.
Review 43:Well located. Clean. Seemed quite new. Helpful staff. Very good value.
Review 44:decor
Review 45:hotel position
Review 46:Great location. Quiet place. Good value for the money. Underground parking lot.
Review 47:Breakfast good for the price, but it could have more bread and cheese and ham instead of so many cakes (3 per person). Sound isolation very bad.
Review 48:An hostel that is better than a lot of hotels: Excelent cleanness, simple decoration but very pleasant, quiet, nice staff, wifi in the rooms, a lot of available soap in the bathroom.
Review 49:There was a good fifteen minutes walk to get to the town centre, which for us wasn't a problem, but could be difficult for some people.
Review 50:The staff were very helpful and the visit seemed like going home from home. There was on-site parking which was very convenient. The hotel was near the river and a couple of the beautiful Roman sites.
Review 51:Dogs accepted but not to be left alone in the room. First time I have come across this and whilst I understand the reason why it makes it very difficult to go out for a meal when no restaurants accept dogs.
Review 52:More like a hotel than a hostel. Very informative receptionist. Great underground parking facilities. Would use again.
Review 53:Furniture is basic. Toilet is separated from the room by a curtain!! Parking is difficult and chargeable
Review 54:Staff are lovely and helpful. Location is central, you can walk everywhere.
Review 55:Nothing.
Review 56:I liked very much the kindness of the staff and They like to help you with everything you ask. The room was clean and Nice decorated and agrable.
Review 57:Was a 15-20 minute walk to main attractions and not many bars etc in the area of the hotel but as Merida is small if you do not want to drive it is easy to drive and park closer to the centre where all is easy to reach
Review 58:Las Abadias is clean and well run, pet friendly and with very helpful and friendly staff who have some English. Situated in a quiet area with easy parking.
Review 59:Poor location 30min at least to walk into the Old City centre. All meals but breakfast, have to be purchased elsewhere. When compared with other Hotels at present in Spain it represents poor value for money. For the same price we where staying in good 4star Hotels out of season (MAY).
Review 60:Very clean small Budget Hotel. car parking on site at a cost of £7 per day. helpful staff.
Review 61:a bit away from the town, its 8 euros to park on site ,which i didnt like , you pay to stay at there hotel, then they want more money to park your car, i normally avoid these places if i carnt park in the street or park for free
Review 62:great hotel , good breakfast in your room , at a time you want it
Review 63:A little bit far from the center. Walls are thin.
Review 64:Clean,friendly staff.Good breakfast. It is possible to use terrace near the hotel. No problem with free parking even near the hotel. For its price it is ok.
Review 65:A comfortable and friendly place.Very nicely decorated rooms.Everythingyou need in the bathroom.A Generous continental breakfast brought toyour room at the time you want.No need to worry about parking becauseit´s a quiet residential area and you can park easily in the samestreet.Mercadona across the street.
Review 66:All good for our needs.
Review 67:Very clean, helpful reception, street parking in quiet area felt safe, a very basic hotel-just a small reception and bedrooms. Breakfast was very good and served in bedrooms- no bar or dining room. All we needed and very good value.
Review 68:The streets around the hotel were noticeably full of dog mess. This was bad because we had our own dog with us and we felt it irresponsible.
Review 69:Close to Roman sites but sufficiently away from the city to be quiet.
Review 70:A little far for some to walk to the main sites--it took me 20 minutesto reach the Roman theatre, walking at a brisk pace.
Review 71:Staff was extremely helpful and the rooms were clean. It is easy toaccess and has underground parking for 8 Euros or free parking on a little-used street in front of the hotel. Breakfast was served in the room.
Review 72:Room very small yet contained a double AND single bed - bit cramped.
Review 73:Very friendly welcome. Small but clean room and immaculate shower room. Because of the dog our room had a small, private terrace. Easy free parking in private road outside. Easy dog-walk into town.
Review 74:The manager and staff at the Hotel were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and airy and quiet. Also an important plus for Las Abidas, especially for people journeying onwards with a car full of personal things, there is a secure underground car park under the hotel which offers maximum security. Well worth the additional payment.
Review 75:The bed not very confortable.

Review 88:The directions from Google to find the last 500metres.
Review 89:The warmest welcome we have ever had.
Review 90:Rooms are rather small, breakfast is very basic and limited.
Review 91:Easy to access, parking on the street is easy.
Review 92:too far away from bus terminal
Review 93:A little bit far from center of the city.
Review 94:Service was good.
Review 95:Insufficient noise insulation between bedrooms. And the guy nest door snored!
Review 96:The room was too small
Review 97:The parking acces, the staff was really helpfull and they spoke different languages
Review 98:Everything.
Review 99:Good Hostal and excemptionaly clean. The only down side was that there were no restaurants nearby.
