Reviews for Velada Mérida

Review 1:Don't pay for the private car park in advance, decide when you have booked in, as it's not secure and in the open. I have stayed at other hotels where the same parking would be free.

Review 2:Very convenient for the Roman Museum and town centre

Review 3:Directions could have been slightly clearer on booking.com. Its just off Reina Sofia and not actually on it. Its actually on Augusta Octavia (direction away from centre).

Review 4:Helpful staff. Comfortable room. Distinctive decor in bedroom. Good breakfast. Top marks to the helpful lady who let us eat our breakfast undisturbed even though we went in at the last minute - our watches were still on Canarian time, doh!!

Review 5:Room was too hot even though cold out and had window open - couldn't control the temperature

Review 6:Good size room, friendly staff, nice view from the back, parking, 15 minute walk to the amphitheater

Review 7:Have been used to self serve breakfasts which suit us best.Cost of breakfast much too high for what was on offer., for full breakfast that is.

Review 8:The ambience of the hotel is excellent, a bit of faded glory but this adds to it. SPacious and clean.Walking distance to all attractions

Review 9:Breakfast was really poor for a 4-star hotel. Staff were generally inattentive and found using English a burden.

Review 10:Lovely room/great location/good lunch.

Review 11:There was no coffee, tea or even water available on the room. The room was quite small and constrained. For the price and to be classified as 4**** it was no worthy. We have been at 3*** star hotels with much better facilities.

Review 12:Originally, only booked 1 night, but at check in, decided on 2. However, our door keys after first night were cancelled and we surprisingly had to get new keys. Minor inconvenience.

Review 13:Hotel was very nice with adequate parking lot beside building. We walked to all the main attractions, Roman amphitheatre, bridge, etc. The city had much to offer, many sidewalk cafes, stores, but was quite crowded. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the young gentleman at reception when we arrived. Breakfast staff also very pleasant.

Review 14:Easy to find and drive to ( Spanish towns can be very hard to drive round ! ), a large room, good bath, friendly, easy to walk into centre of Mérida. Large car park.

Review 15:We paid far to much for this hotel, when I viewed it on the web site the fact it had a pool persuaded me to book this hotel, the rate were far to high. The staff were very good, shame about this high charge.

Review 16:Very convenient location, but we hose this hotel because it had a pool, we had been touring Portugal for 3 weeks and wanted to relax before we travelled back to Madrid and fly home, when we arrived at the hotel we were told that the pool was closed form 15th September, this was not mentioned on the web site, the temp wa 28 degrees the pool was full and we were not allowed to use it, they did allow us to relax on the beds round the pool, it was so hot we had to lie in the shade,

Review 17:The hotel was well placed to see all the sites within ten minutes walk well worth seeing the City hotel was clean but a little worn worth an up graded room

Review 18:.Nothing at all.

Review 19:Nice location. Only a shortish walk into Merida centre. Very comfortable and clean. Staff had to deal with a large group of people when we arrived and did so very efficiently. Nice pool and poolside area with shade under trees. Breakfast very good.

Review 20:Hotel is tired. Staff were off-hand and unhelpful. No safe in room and at least 2 in reception did not work. Many small things were unacceptable eg. hair dryer was broken.

Review 21:Very little

Review 22:As the weather was in the mid 30's and there appeared to be plenty of guests in the hotel it would have been good if the pool area was set up with sunbeds. After a long day visiting the various ruins a cool dip in the pool would have been ideal followed by a stretch on a sun lounger and an ice cold drink.

Review 23:Pleasant and helpful staff. Room was large, clean and comfortable.

Review 24:Nothing!

Review 25:The hotel felt spacious and not crowded despite being fairly busy. Availability of "Menu del Dia" in restaurant at lunch time and cafeteria facilities for snacks. Service always friendly and helpful.

Review 26:No free parking usually.....but this time I had free on street parking because it was the week-end. A little expensive for room only - but then we were late booking and Merida hotels were 'full' that weekend.

Review 27:Very easy to get to off the motorway for a one night stay in Merida. Close enough to the town - 15 min walk max. yet far enough away to make access by car very easy.

Review 28:One of the two beds seemed to be worn out. Not much of interest or in the way of eating places in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

Review 29:Reasonable price. Plenty of parking space.

Review 30:Breakfast quite expensive.

Review 31:Easy in/out for motorway to Portugal. Clean, good service. Very wide breakfast selection. Merida itself was unknown to us but is a really lovely town with a large number of Roman sites. Worth a visit.

Review 32:Not the most attractive hotel.

Review 33:An easy walk to the historical sites. Staff were helpful, breakfast was very good. The hotel is easy to locate and there is plenty of parking. The large supermarket across the road is also convenient. We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful town of Merida.

Review 34:The hotel is tired, generally speaking. The carpets are dirty and reception area unwelcoming. Food is average. It is near the town centre but on a dual carriageway in an industrial park - that didn't show on the photos for some reason?! 4 stars? I don't think so.

Review 35:The hotel is just off the main road into Merida and a short walk from the town centre. The room was comfortable. The bar / restaurant / cleaning staff were friendly. For its cost it was OK but don't expect too much.

Review 36:Noisy neighbours who insisted on talking loudly outside our room at 2am, this was then followed by a crescendo of doors slamming.

Review 37:The staff were helpful and friendly in both reception and restaurant. The daily menu represents good value. The breakfast buffet was well worth the price. The majority of historic sites are within easy walking distance of the hotel we didn't use our car at all during our 3 night stay.

Review 38:the price was a bit high for the quality of the hotel even though was worth it

Review 39:hotel location was good, as well there is free parking in the street. the city is very clean and nice.

Review 40:Offered a small dark dingy room on arrival. (but receptionist graciously changed it to a bigger and brighter room.)

Review 41:Location. Easy Walking distance to Amphitheater where I was attending an evening concert. Adequate for one night.

Review 42:Definately NOT a 4 star rating. It looks very 'tired' & in need of refurbishment. Room too small. The decor is 80's/90's style & grubby. The dining room chairs all seem to 'wobble'!

Review 43:Its hard to like anything about this hotel, but the dinner we had was OK. Parking is good.

Review 44:Comfortable and clean. Good parking.

Review 45:Comfortable. Car parking. Situation

Review 46:Nice modern hotel close to the antiquities and street restaurants. Good restaurant and snack bar.

Review 47:very noisy in the room, almost impossible to sleep.

Review 48:quite good location, only about 10 minutes walking from the major sightseeings.

Review 62:Less than 1k walk to Roman ruins.

Review 63:Very slow and weak wifi

Review 64:Walking distance to the roman historic center and swiming pool

Review 65:Decoració antiquada. TV obsoleta. Wifi no funcionaba sempre. Piscina no sempre disponible. Car.

Review 66:Air con

Review 67:Jose the bar man was excellent!

Review 68:Breakfast was poor. Congealed eggs, bullet-hard croissants

Review 69:Easy car parking and close to town and monuments

Review 70:unable to get anything to eat from 4 to 8 pm even in the cafeteria

Review 71:Good sized comfortable room and bathroom. fairly easy to find. parking

Review 72:Parking for motorbikes not secure

Review 73:Lovely hotel Good outdoor pool Nice breakfast

Review 74:No working air con. No WiFi signal I'm room.

Review 75:Large comfortable bed, within easy walking distance of sites.

Review 76:The food was disappointing

Review 77:Easy access from motorway , good parking , room clean and comfortable . Hotel close to Roman ruins

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:Seeing the amphitheatre and museum so close to where we were staying.

Review 80:An 8 minute walk to the theatre. Nice room--ask for the 600's--they have very high ceilings and big rooms.

Review 81:When in Merida we stay at the Valeda as it is so central, so comfortable and so friendly

Review 82:General standard and very good meal in restaurant. Breakfast excellent and helpful staff.

Review 83:Room smelt of cigarette smoke. No alternative offered

Review 84:Breakfast and "menu" at hotel restaurant overpriced.

Review 85:Big room and bathroom. Can walk to historic sights from the hotel in 20 minutes

Review 87:The room I was given.

Review 88:Hotel and room spacious very good. Staff very helpful. Hotel easy access to motorway with a short walk into centre.

Review 89:Hair-dryer

Review 90:The only not so good point is that IT is quite far from the main bus station. However IT is close to the train one.

Review 91:Amazing location, good value for money and very kind staff.

Review 92:The Cafeteria did not open earlier enough as you could not order before 8.30, so therefore not eat until 9 pm.

Review 93:Location was very good, staff friendly and good facilities.

Review 94:Quite a dated hotel for a 4 star bathroom could do with a refurb found the shower curtain very unhygienic have stayed in 3 star hotels on this trip where bathroom were up to date and it made all the difference

Review 95:Good location and very pleasent staff price was fair

Review 96:Wrong location in Google maps if you enter the official address. The entrance is through Calle Octavio Augusto. Breakfast was not good for the money. But apparently there aren't any nearby cafeterias.

Review 97:Good location. Easy on-street parking. Easy walk to amphitheater and center. I highly recommend this hotel if you go to Merida by car.

Review 98:A group of young teenagers was hosted in the same floor, meaning screams and running around in the middle of the night. The breakfast is among one of the worst i ever had in a hotel and it costs an insane 10€, do yourself a favour and have your breakfast somewhere else.

Review 99:The hotel is clean and relatively comfortable.

Review 100:Breakfast is expensive, so is hotel parking.

Review 101:Location is 10 min away from Roman Theatre. Really good value for money. There is street parking available just outside the hotel, no need to pay their parking.

Review 102:It is open atrium style, so you hear doors closing and showers runningin the morning. It was not a problem for us but might be if you wAntedto sleep in. Not near restaurants or night life.

Review 103:Clean, well maintained. On a street that is busy during the day but notat night so no disturbing road noise at night. One block from a largesupermarket, convenient for buying snacks, etc. It is only about a 10min walk to the Roman theater and coliseum.

Review 104:Nobody at the reception when I came. Didn't wait too much though.

Review 105:Walking distance to Roman theater. I overslept and the cleaning lady didn't push me to leave the room.

Review 106:A few problems with our "card-key"; we had to *ask* for theair conditioning in our room to be switched on.

Review 107:Good food at breakfast (although egg/bacon a bit cold at times). Thebus service just outside the hotel was useful - but the hotel staff werecompletely unaware of it !

Review 108:No translation of menu, this. Is after all a 4 star hotel in a worldheritage site, and no one in restaurant spoke any English noisy guestson 5 th floor next to our friends room, hotel management very slow todo anything

Review 109:Dinner in house, excellent meal for only 25 euros, cafe for breakfastin morning

Review 110:Had a wedding reception on the Friday night so very noisy and disturbed night.

Review 111:Good locatioin on the edge of the town centre. Convenient for the Roman archaeology.

Review 112:ood options were limited. Some breakfasts not availabvle until later. Dinning Room was white table cloth only with limited hours.

Review 113:Bath tub was great.

Review 114:Pure English of the staff. We were told that the restaurant will work in the evening since 20:00, but actually it did not worked, only bar, we had to eat some tapas instead of proper supper, it was not good for the child. Pure conditioning.

Review 115:We thought the bar menu was not good value for money however theservice was good.

Review 116:Our room was spacious amd comfortable. We are English speaking on ourfirst trip to Sain. Staff were very helpful despite the languagedifficulty. Parking was good (despite the charge)
