Reviews for Nefertiti Hotel Luxor
Review 1:There is not heating, so in winter (I went in January 2016) it may get a bit chilli.
Review 2:The hotel is basic but clean, staff very helpful and super friendly, the location perfect, and the wifi works very well. The terrace overlooking Luxor temple and Nile river is fantastic. I had camel for dinner, which was great!
Review 3:near a primary school, so it will be a little noisy at the morning.
Review 4:best location,Neil and Luxor Temple just opposite. very good view from the roof top restaurant.
Review 5:The sheer effusive involvement in your stay in Luxor. A marked contrast to treatment in some other areas where you were only valued if you agreed to be swindled.
Review 6:The hotel is very close to the market, which can be noisy in the evening. While this was generally OK as it quietened down by 11pm, the very loud music shop just up the street made it difficult to relax if you want an early night.
Review 7:The hotel is in a great location, opposite Luxor Temple and a 3-4 min walk to the ferry terminal to the West Bank of The Nile. The roof terrace is the best feature, lots of room and great views. Rooms were clean, smart and spacious, and the staff were friendly and on-hand whenever we needed anything. Would stay again!
Review 8:Out room was situated above the kitchen so we could hear them washing the dishes .Very noisy.Squeeking sound due to pressure system of the geyser.
Review 9:Location.Very nice view over the Luxor temple and the Nile. Clean.
Review 10:Basic rooms but as expected as Egypt has tired accommodation all over. tidy and clean at least. Breakfast very average, no effort really which is a shame as they have a good restaurant. Hot water temperamental and didn't last long.
Review 11:Perfect location to explore Luxor, beside markets. Very friendly staff to welcome plus in house tour company to organise tours - all very efficient/professional/good value so worth using! Great roof terrace to relax and be away from crowds. Restaurant attached and food good (dinner and lunch had) and affordable.
Review 12:Very nice location. Staff was nice and helpfull. Good restaurant on the rooftop with a beautiful view on Louxor temple. Room was clean and towels took different shapes everyday.
Review 13:Noise - people are working in the surrounding areas until 3 am so can be difficult to sleep.
Review 14:Amazing friendly staff. Great location, the best food I've eaten so far in Egypt in Aladin's Cafe.
Review 15:it's all about money. If u spend money there(booking tours, having food and drinks, etc), you would receive warm reactions, otherwise.....Feels like they are not sincerely welcome you
Review 16:Perfect location & good view from the rooftop
Review 17:All good!
Review 18:A great place to stay in the heart of Luxor. Some rooms are better than others! Very helpful staff, arranging trips and providing local knowledge to make a truly memorable holiday!
Review 19:The stuff was really friendly, the room was clean, the matresses comfortable, the view from the roof top amazing and the food from the restaurant was the best we had in Luxor. Perfect for low budget. One gets more than you pay.
Review 20:room 304 backs up to an alley .... much noise all the night. bring ear plugs they help but do not eliminate the noise. i understand they might have better rooms. we stayed 4 nights.
Review 21:Ahmed Moussa - part of the family who runs it can find you good cars and guides for a modest price not just in Luxor but all over the country.
Review 22:This is not a complaint, or a negative comment, but rather a suggestion. We noticed that the food for the rooftop restaurant is prepared on the ground floor and the staff taking food and dishes up and down the stairs. So our suggestion is that maybe a small hand operated freight elevator (dumbwaiter) could be installed to bring the food up and take the dishes down.
Review 23:From the very first moment we walked in the door of The Nefertiti hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We met Aladin, the owner, on the rooftop restaurant and he came and sat with us while we enjoyed our meal. He was incredibly approachable and very easy to get along with. The rooftop became a favorite hang out for us with its fantastic views overlooking the Luxor Temple to the Thebian Mountains on the West bank, The food was sensational and Mahmoud the head Maitre de made our meal times a really enjoyable experience with his willingness to go above and beyond the normal duties that one comes to expect. The reception helped to organize tours for us, which included going to the Valley of the Kings, visiting numerous temples, hot air balloon ride, going into tombs and even boat trips on the nile. The hotel room was very well maintained and the house keeping was exceptional. During our week long stay, we made good friendships with the staff and other people whose businesses were associated with the hotel. One of these outstanding businesses was The Hatshepsut for Alabaster Factory located on the west bank about half a mile before the Hashepsut Temple, owned by Ashraf Mohamed and his family. The factory has many quality hand made items and unique pieces, locally quarried and carved by the staff. We visited the factory on one of our tours with our tour guide Ahmed Haggag Ali, whom we also formed a strong relationship with. His expertise and knowledge were an invaluable asset in teaching us the history of the local area. All this was made possible with the help of Dier, one of our drivers, during the tours. Overall we would highly recommend staying at The Nefertiti Hotel and utilizing their invaluable services.
Review 24:They need to install elevator, my room was on 4th floor and we have to use stares for up and down which is okay if you are young but for old folks this will not work. Apart from that Television was very old.
Review 25:Superb location, excellent staff. I think they have very few staff and most of the time owners take care of tourist. Clean room. They have laundry service. Overall this hotel is value for money. Breakfast was okay not much spread but can't expect more than that.
Review 26:Nothing. For the cheap price, everything is fair.
Review 27:The hospitality of Ahmed and the owner is unparalleled. They helped us a lot and even gave us discount on the hot air balloon ride!
Review 28:The confirmation from the airport was kind of weird since the driver asked me to speak to the receptionist by the phone to prove that I was me. This was kind of scary, specially at night with lots of hustlers - which is very common in Egypt (be prepared!) However, they should change that policy too...
Review 29:The hotel has a great view to Luxor Temple on the roof. The staff is very nice. They offered me a transfer from the airport which is the best way to arrive. The rooms are ok, comfortable but simple.
Review 30:Great location. Staff were great, helpful and accommodating. They organised a number of tours on the day of my arrival. Very nice restaurant with beautiful views
Review 31:When checking out staff had incorrectly charged extra 100 pounds for a boat ride to banana Island we took with them which was already overpriced. Instead of a Felucca it was a motor boat so it didn't take much time to reach the island. You just spent the majority of the time sitting in a café on the island. The sheets and towels were quite old and discoloured. The breakfast was really basic and not worth paying extra to keep it as part of the package.
Review 32:Location, location, location Tea and coffee facilities in room
Review 33:The staff all spoke fluent english, and were helpful with everything. The facilities were cheap yet very nice, and the rooftop restaurant was gorgeous and very affordable, even for 2 students.
Review 34:Staying at the Nefertiti Hotel was a highlight of our stay in Egypt. It is a family run hotel and we found all the staff very helpful. Food in the rooftop restaurant was excellent. The owner and manager, Ala el-Din arranged for us to have a guide, Hassan, to visit the important sites in Luxor and this was a great experience and very reasonably priced.
Review 35:The front entrance/lobby area was under construction and we were not notified beforehand. We had to walk through a dimly lit, very sandy construction site to our room every day. Bathroom facilities could use renovating and could be a bit cleaner.
Review 36:Location is conveniently across from the Luxor Temple. The staff treats you like family and makes sure that you are comfortable. The air conditioning in our room was not cold enough and after one quick call to reception, they showed us three other rooms that we could pick from, testing the air conditioning in each of them!
Review 37:The air conditioner is making too much noise.
Review 38:The restaurant downstairs is very nice. Also the breakfast on the roof is good. We had a tour for Edfu and Kom ombo, the guildman is very nice and told us lots of story about those temples, and they won't ask you to go to a perfume shop or somehing you don't want to.
Review 39:The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. Answering questions and giving good advice when required. The food was great, and the view of the temple and Nile from the roof while eating our meals, great.
Review 40:The hotel staff were extremely helpful, always available and very very friendly. The hotel view was amazing and its location couldn´t be better. I strongly recommend it.
Review 41:The internet didn't work properly, almost we don't have it. Was difficult all the 4 days that we spent there. Poor breakfast and w/o options. And don't have elevator, to carry the bags 4 floor was not a good experience.
Review 42:Good location, in front on the main sightseens (temples, market and ferry), beside locate on a small street and not on the main road. Nice view of the terrace.
Review 43:Internet on the roof was hit and miss.
Review 44:I enjoyed my stay here very much! The staff were all very nice and helpful. The food was good and location excellent. A good place to stay.
Review 45:Staff on the roof tried to kick myself and my friends out at 10pm sayingthey were shut, though he allowed us to stay after I suggested we couldlook after ourselves, he could go home.
Review 46:Location- wow! Kettle, tea and coffee in room! Owners and desk staffwere exceptionally nice- allowed me leave my bags after check-out aswas going to visit Valley of Kings for afternoon, even said I couldhave use of room to take a shower if I wanted when I returned. Verysweet of them.
Review 47:They are very kind and helpful, the hotel has an excellent view, and the restaurant serves one of the best moussaka we've eaten even they taught my wife to do it, by placing at the disposal of her, restaurant facilities and their chef, thank you very much
Review 48:Laid back, easy going. Amazing location - Luxor Temple across the road & the Nile a two minute walk away. Great view of The Valley of the Kings across the river from the rooftop restaurant.
Review 49:We expected cozy rooms. We didn't expect that the shower would be located above the toilet (no separate shower stall)
Review 50:Loved the patio and incredibly helpful staff.
Review 51:Don't go for the breakfast. Although the food they serve at the restaurant is pretty good, their breakfast was mainly stale cakes and bread and dried out cheese...
Review 52:Staff was very friendly and helpful! Room was very clean, everything worked, no problems at all. The roof terrace is also really nice (and you can order good food there as well).
Review 53:I requested a balcony (which was stated in the booking) with nice view but i was given a room without balcony and a view of the building and restaurant down. The Aladin pizza and the shrimp cocktail salad wasn't so good.
Review 54:Friendliness of the staff. They gave me free late check out and I was given a new room to freshen up and the room. Breakfast was great!
Review 55:Rooms are basic. My wife didn't feel that the first room as as clean as she would have liked. But we stayed in another room after a tour and it was fine and very clean.
Review 56:The staff were brilliant, so friendly and helpful. Tours were organised for the 8 days we stayed there and a driver and guide provided. We loved the experience. The food on the upstairs balcony for lunch and dinner was fabulous and we never thought of eating anywhere else.
Review 57:Not having a broader choice of international TV channels. Despite being on a marvelous odyssey, I wanted to remain aware of what was happening in our troubled world.
Review 58:I liked the casualness, friendly tone and responsiveness of the establishment. I was enchanted feasting my eyes on the broad vistas from the rooftop terrace of the antiquities nestled away on the West Bank, the illuminated Valley of the Kings at night. The breakfast offerings started off the day perfectly and the evening meals at the ground floor lane ended the day on a very high note.
Review 59:Staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially when we arrived after midnight. Hotel is very close to Luxor Temple and the souq (market). A short walk will take you to the Nile waterfront and the Winter Palace.
Review 60:- Had a glitch during airport transfer (due to flight delay) and sorted out promptly. - Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator. - Lower room can be noisy due to local market - Signs of aged facilities in the room
Review 61:I like its rooftop seating area with a view of Luxor Temple and the Nile and its close proximity to local market (just behind the hotel). Real value for money. Very helpful and accommodating staff (was given a room to rest in between tours for free and they gave us packed breakfasts for early morning balloon ride). Provided really excellent tour guide (Hassan) for one-day tour to West Bank and East Bank - very knowledgable.
Review 62:The towels had a cigarette smell which was really bad and we were not able to used them.
Review 63:This place is located in a really good and convenient location rom where you can go to the places in the same bank or cross the canal in the old ferry. The hotel also offers breakfast which is good, but the best part is the view that you can get from the roof at the Luxor Temple and Nile river. The staff is kind and able to give the instructions you need for the day, also they are not pushing to you to buy anything which is great.
Review 64:The bathroom had a private lock which can be dangerous if the door gets closed from outside with the latch on. So be cautious when locking the bathroom door.
Review 65:The staff was very friendly and would help you with everything you need. The location is great with comfortable rooms. The restaurant on the terrace serves good food and a nice person there who attends the guests.
Review 66:noisy even after the midnight as the hotel is in the souq
Review 67:The staffs are friendly and helpful when come to arranging trips The roof terrace is awesome. After a full day of sightseeing under the desert sun it was great to enjoy the evening breeze on the roof terrace, with a view of the Nile and Luxor temple
Review 68:The wifi only works in the lobby. It's also a little hard to find' it's located on a small side street.
Review 69:The location is great if you are planning on taking a Nile Cruise, it's a block from the Nile. I also booked a nice tour with the front desk and a reasonable price.
Review 70:Internet problems constantly, got locked into room because the lock on door was defaulted, but they brought us a basket of fruit for the inconvenience ;)
Review 71:Breakfast was fulfilling, great view at top of hotel, friendly staff, I'm glad they had driver and guide available which helped with ease of tickets and where to go.
Review 72:Heater did not work in one of the rooms. No elevator. The breakfast wasmissing proper coffee which made me very, very sad. Instant just did notcut it. The bed was harder than I liked but I still slept. I wish we hadbeen given 1 bottle of water for tooth brushing for free.
Review 73:Great staff who went out of their way to return a left item to us beforewe left the country. Lovely restaurant on the rooftop. Clean rooms -really clean. Location right over Luxor Temple. Really wonderfulconsidering the very reasonable price. The restaurant had a wonderfulstaff and great food. It might be bare bones but had a hotpot and minifridge for our use.
Review 74:Located adjacent to Luxor Temple in a laneway that leads to the tourist market, the hotel is an ideal base with most East Bank attractions within easy walking distance. The local ferry to the West Bank is only a 10 minute walk away. Rooms are clean and comfortable and all staff, without exception, were freindly and helpful. Al fresco dining in the shaded laneway is very pleasant with a big thankyou to Gabriel, (who calls himself the@Black Chef), for his personal service and help in selecting from their very affordable menu.
Review 75:the breakfast is a bit poor with no variety. Its too cold early in the morning to have breakfast up in the roof (the only place where you can have breakfast) . The window didn't close properly which made the room quite cold during the night. It can be a bit noisy at night due to the noise coming from the market .
Review 76:the location is awesome in overviewing Luxor temple and at the begining of the old market. Very helpful and friendly staff. They gave us a room to chill and leave our stuff after the check out time because our flight was late at night for no extra charge! a really generous gesture. The roof is amazing with a great view on Luxor temple and the Nile. The roof's restaurant is one of the best food experiences i had in Luxor. I would definitely go there again .
Review 77:- Every night there is loud music till 12.30 - 1.00 am from the street which makes it hard to sleep. - The shower leaked in my room s d my room got basically flooded due to the design of the bathroom. Also the shower is over the toilet. -The balcony/ rooftop was closed which was disappointing as I was looking forward to it as they are renovating it. No biggy but would have been great to have a beer up there and watch the sunset each night
Review 78:great staff including the cleaners. They all have great personalities and always willing to help. - I arrive by train at 7.00am and got a free pick up which is great as there are soo many touts! I wasnt able to check in yet but they let me go to a triple room (booked a single) and have a shower and freshen up, then they gave me a free breakfast! Hats off that's great service. - The restaurant downstairs is good! Try the musaqa'a dish, it was amazing! Just note they add tax and a service charge on top! - very close to the luxor temple and only 5-10 pounds to get anywhere
Review 79:Our heater didn't work, but then we didn't ask for help from the desk.
Review 80:We liked the location next to the market and the Nile. The staff was very kind and spoke English well. The rooftop restaurant was wonderful and a nice breakfast was included in the price.
Review 81:Right on top of the Avenue of Sphinxs', this hotel could not be better located. The staff are friendly and helpful and picked us up from the train-station. The travel desk is knowledgeable and good value. The restaurant serves up all kinds of delicious dishes and the included breakfast is great.
Review 82:Breakfast is very basic... Shower had very less water...
Review 83:Very friendly and informative staff specially Ahmed..we had too many questions and they answered it very well.. They arranged fantastic guide Aladdin (including transport) for our stay in Luxor.. Basic facilities, value for money, very close to Luxor temple, from top of the balcony beautiful view of Nile and west bank..roof top restaurant with Shisha bar... Very close to the street markets (downtown)...
Review 84:1. though you pay the same money but you will get the room as per your nationality....so beware of it. 2. the staff are not at all good.
Review 85:i love the location of the hotel and the restaurants facility on roof top
Review 86:Forgot to clean room between the two nights we stayed.
Review 87:Roof terrace with view to The Nile and Luxor Temple and a restaurant with very good food. Small but cosy rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 88:rooftop terrace with view of Luxor Temple; arranged tours with the Aladdin help desk, guides were thorough, friendly, fun, staff were friendly and helpful. Great stay, would highly recommend this property.
Review 89:great staff who are friendly and want to help you have the best experiences in Luxor amazing rooftop for eating, hanging out and watching the sunset clean room, A/C, wifi access and amenities Very flexible other services like money exchange was helpful Great location
Review 90:couldn't stay longer no pool, no golf course..... ......wait, wrong list.
Review 91:comfortable beds spotless rooms and bathrooms lots of hot water on demand helpful, friendly, accommodating staff extremely accessible to Luxor Temple unbelievably priced 5-star feeling in a 3-star hotel
Review 92:There is a staff his English is not very good. And unfriendly.
Review 93:This hotel is very close to the market and restaurants. Luxor is not a very big city. So in the city we can walk to anywhere. Also they provide very good food, a little bit expensive than other local restaurants.
Review 94:AC was noisy in my room.
Review 95:The view is stunning, roof top restaurant overlooking the temple and the river with nice exotic choice of dishes. wifi connection througout
Review 96:Pickup Driver had a problem. He dropped us wrong bus terminal and didn't explain anything. Just requested money. We almost missed the bus.
Review 97:Friendly staff. Friendly and Room is clean , comfortable. Luxor Highlight day tour was excellent.
Review 98:No swimming pool, but compared to what this hotel has to give you, it's nothing! You have Nile in very close to the hotel.
Review 99:Almost everything, since the staff was very very very nice, he even let us stay after checkout, in a free room for 2 hours for me and my friends, to take shower. And everyone was very helpful. Must-book if you're going to Luxor. It is very cheap yet very satisfying ! And by the way, I'm confused why there were only very few tourists staying there, considering it's a great hotel.
Review 100:The room is too small, untidy and the toilet/bath is not cleaned/very dirty. The staff was not well dressed and were poor in English. We didn't stay in this hotel although I was charged for one full day stay because the price is too high for the great room and service they claimed online, which is a total haux!
Review 101:The only thing good about the hotel is their location since it is close to Luxor atemple. But there are other hotels in the area that offers the same quality of room with much, much lower price!
Review 102:That I had to leave.
Review 103:The locations was excellent, the rooms were clean and stylish, the food was delicious and reasonable priced (plus you can chose to eat in your room, on the roof, or on the street patio), and the rooftop terrace has a view of the Nile and Luxor temple that is absolutely stunning. Not to mention, the staff went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. They were very respectful, they helped me book my tours (sunrise balloon ride and sunset felucca cruise) through their awesome agency and they even gave me tips on things to be aware of as a female solo traveler. Moreover, I felt at home while at Nefertiti and developed good friendships with the staff. I could not have been happier with my stay!
Review 104:Rooftop terrace was s great place to hang out with an amazing view. Very helpful in organising tours and directions around town.
Review 105:Very Basic furniture and No elevator, bathroom is miserable
