Reviews for Sonesta St. George Hotel - Convention Center

Review 1:The staff were not quite as friendly as other Egyptians The wifi DOES NOT WORK WELL AT ALL

Review 2:It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. The view of the Nile was beautiful. Heated pool.

Review 3:We asked for a triple room and we got two normal beds and a very bad one. However we told it in the front desk and it was changed for another one. The room was noisy. No internet in the rooms.

Review 4:There was a huge swimming pool and an area to relax. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 5:After we cheched-out we found that we forgot bluetooth hand free in theroom we called them to ask about it ... and there answer was .. we didntfound it. And for your notice no one took the room after we lift ... sowho took it ??

Review 6:Almost all

Review 7:The hotel kept my passport with them under the claim the the photocopier isn't working; I found this as inappropriate action.

Review 8:The price is very competitive compared to star rating of the hotel

Review 9:Always brilliant ALL Staff and management always look after their guests whether they are new or long standing The Sonesta is the best hotel in Luxor

Review 10:The hotel was very nice. We really loved our stay there and we enjoyed our sunsets next to the Nile river. I have to mention that the lady working in the pool restaurant was very nice, attentive and very kind... We felt sad we didn't have the chance to say bye to her. The pool was slightly heated which was great because it was cold to swim. No internet in rooms but very fast connection in public areas. We also loved the Japanese restaurant there. My kids enjoyed the "cooking lessons" given by the chef while he was cooking our food in front of us. Great quality for the price, very fresh and Yummy!

Review 11:Two single beds in the room but for one night it wasen t worth changing .

Review 12:The breakfast room, beautiful view nicest staff and the food choices amazing. Wifi everywhere very good. The lobby s decor chic and confortable . Next time would stay longer.

Review 13:No off road parking and very scarce on road parking . This part of Luxor desperately needs car parking facilities.

Review 14:Good service good food in Japanese restaurant friendly staff

Review 15:The hotel is not located on the Nile Corniche, you need to take a taxi to go to the city center. Not a nice neighborhood The pre-paid wifi service is poor and not strong The free wifi in the lobby is just slow

Review 16:Amazing Hotel, pool, service and breakfast

Review 17:The room (on the road side) was too noisy The people waiting for you out of the hotel for taxis or horse carriages are very annoying

Review 18:Fantastic location, nice and friendly staff, housekeeping service is great

Review 19:Overall I am very critical person, but in this hotel I have nothing negative.

Review 20:Really perfect stay, everything highly exceed our expectation. I would definitely come again.

Review 21:Clearly because there were few quests the food was below average. Staff were desperate to get our business at the restaurants.

Review 22:This is a beautiful hotel

Review 23:Would reach perfection if it had free wifi in rooms and pool.

Review 24:Everything! The room and the entire hotel are just beautiful and extremely comfortable. All details have been taken care of. Staff is very kind and helpful. Location is great, you can even walk to Luxor Temple and downtown. Loved the pool area and the wonderful view. Would definetely go again!

Review 25:I booked a side Nile view but what i got is a room facing an empty piece of land full of rocks/trash and i can pearly see the Nile, the picture here is misleading, it shows the window with the Nile view, but the hotel gave me another room closer to the Nile, it wasn't bad after all.

Review 26:stayed there for two nights, the location is great, friendly staff, food in the hotel is good, two restaurants Italian and Japanese, I personally prefer the Japanese, breakfast is very good, one of the best omelet I had, internet is free in lobby but charged in rooms, around 13 USD per day , the pool is very nice,

Review 27:- not a huge point, but some restaurants weren't open which was a shame, but made sense since they didn't have a lot of people staying. - no free wifi in the rooms was a shame.

Review 28:Room was lovely - we stayed in a front-view nile room - definitely worth it. Staff were fantastic - genuinely friendly and helpful. Food was generally very nice. Good location.

Review 29:Reception girl was bit miserable and stand offish when we checked out.she didn't even ask if we enjoyed our stay.

Review 30:The decor, friendly staff and a gorgeous room with great views.room service spot on as was the variety of breakfast. I recommend this hotel to anyone visiting luxor.

Review 31:It is spacious and nice. Value for money. I had an excellent room at the Nile side of the Hotel. You can easily hire a boat to go to the west-side of the Nile which offers you beautiful sight seeing, especially when you come back at sundown. Also the breakfast in the morning on the outside terrace is very pleasant. Even the internet is not very fast but at least it is stable. Perfect place to relax and start your trips to the valleys and temples.

Review 32:When arrived after a long exhausting trip I found out the shower didn't work. I was given another room where the WC was continuously running, wasting lots of water. Bathroom wasn't clean, with lots of stains on the floor, it looked like it hadn't been moped in ages. Rooms facing the street aren't properly noise isolated. Although room itself wasn't expensive the rest of accessories/amenities were very expensive. No welcoming pack, no kettle in the room, unless you pay 35 USD, which is a robbery. Hotel needs a great improvement to fulfill modern standards. The lobby furniture is very uncomfortable, and the lack of WiFi in the rooms annoying. Restaurants staff (excepting Elia, from the Lotus Bar) very unfriendly.

Review 33:The swimming pool is OK, Reception staff were nice and willing to help.

Review 34:The food while I'm talking our breakfast not too much varieties available only few types of food.

Review 35:The stuff was really had the sense of hospitality & quick response for my requests very helpful during the whole stay.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:The room view, Lobby, staff of restaurant, Mr. Sabry is very helpful and friendly, hotel view. Everything was fantastic

Review 38:No landscape, italian resturant was not good

Review 39:Comfort & good value of money

Review 40:A trip to remember Fantastic breakfast Don't feel worry to go to Egypt Amazing sites Have your dream trip

Review 41:Horrible Carriage drivers across the street from the hotel touting aggressively.

Review 42:Fantastic Bar and lovely entertaining Bar Man called Osama.

Review 43:Italian Restaurant, food and service not great.

Review 44:View over Nile. Friendliness of staff.

Review 45:Bad breakfast choice. No welcome drinks. less warm welcome.

Review 46:Nothing notable.

Review 47:everything

Review 48:Really bad WIFI Boring Breakfast Unhelpful staff

Review 49:River View

Review 50:Horse coachs at the front of Hotel and sticky horse riders

Review 51:Cleaning,pool,landscape, comfortable beds

Review 52:nothing wrong all was perfect

Review 53:fantastic view, perfect position, nice rooms, nice staff, great breakfast.

Review 54:no wifi at room

Review 55:very tidy and friendly staff

Review 56:Lovely hotel with good choice of restaurants. View from the Italian restaurant breathtaking!!

Review 57:Staff, perfect service; comfort of the room; location, near to city center.

Review 58:u hear everything outside,it was noisy...the hotel must change the window with another one to avoid that

Review 59:cleaned room,staff were friendly

Review 60:Breakfast was fair

Review 61:The staff was very nice and very friendly and the location is excellent.

Review 62:The hotel is very clean, modern, luxurious, nice pool, warm and helpful staff, big room, nile view. Just great.

Review 63:Food needs more attention

Review 64:Location Quite Service Cleanses Staff

Review 65:Did not like that you were charged for internet in your room; terrible in this day and age when you have to stay connected for business. also, the hotel staff said I would not find a laundry service any cheaper than the hotel service. I went outside and asked a cab and found a laundry 400 meters directly east of the hotel that did my laundry for 1/12th of the hotel quote. This raises integrity issues with the staff.

Review 66:liked the location on the Nile and just south of the city center. Hotel was clean and comfortable; breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the Nile was wonderful.

Review 67:The room was not ready so offered an upgrade, at a cost. The "suite" was a joke compared to others I have been in recently, not even a separate toilet. Reverted to a twin room which was OK but no more. The balcony was the smallest I have ever experienced. Room internet which was ridiculously expensive - stayed in a cheap hotel the night before where it was free and worked - timed out and couldn't log back in. Had to phone tech support 3 times to get it working in the first place and was still charged! Wouldn't recommend the place to my worst enemy.

Review 68:Not much. i guess it was clean.

Review 69:hotel is very dated. air conditioning did not work properly; they tried to fix it and caused a flood so had to move us. new room air conditioning barely worked but we gave up. lunch served was extremely expensive - and was clearly included for free with local Egyptian package so we felt like we were being cheated (charged excessively for being tourists). did not like it so we checked out and changed hotels despite having to pay for unused room night. location is far from city center and vendors outside the hotel were very aggressive.

Review 70:located on the nile river

Review 71:The buffet provided in the main Serapis restaurant was acceptable but rather poor value for money. The Italian (Beban) restaurant was the only other one open during our stay.

Review 72:The view of the Nile from our balcony was sublime.

Review 73:Sabry the manager and Remon working at the desk did not permit me to have my resident discount for my stay because it was not an option when I booked through booking.com Booking.com communicates that making the reservation online is to reserve the room but not for payment, which in the case of a resident leads you to believe you can sort out the resident rate upon arrival. I was disappointed that they penalized me for having selected their establishment! They can make a disclaimer on booking.com saying to book directly through them for your resident rate. This consequently was out of my budget earning an egyptian wage. Very disappointed.

Review 74:Staff (aside from the front desk) were kind and helpful.

Review 75:Nothing.

Review 76:I think it is an exellent place to stay. We enjoyed every minute, and very recommandable. Sure that we will stay here again next time we comeback to Luxor.

Review 77:No free Internet in the room. No coffee machine/pot in the room.

Review 78:Good sizee room and comfortable bed. View of the Nile from the room could be better. Italian Restaurant is very good. Breakfast is good. There is a bank to exchange money in the premises open until 9pm. Pool area is very nice.

Review 79:They charge extra for everything...$35 for coffee/tea making facilities in room, $10 an hour for wi-fi in room are two examples. Not right in a five star hotel. Service well under par too.

Review 80:Very good in every way and a bargain price of only £33 B&Bfor 2 ppl.Was there for 3 nights end of December. 100% good in every way. Breakfast on the terrace was ace. Views outstanding. Highly recommend booking this for the bargain price via travelrepublic Cross the road, turn right, take the 1st street on the left and head down to the 'Lantern Restaurant' for the best food in town. This lovely restaurant is 5* and has such cheap prices I couldnt belive it. I would highly recommend the fillet steak meal at only 70 EGP... what a bargain for the best fillet I have ever tasted in my life!

Review 81:The staff were very cooperative especially the manager Mr.John who upgrade my booking without paying extra fee. The hotel very comfortable and the furniture of the room was really beautiful.

Review 82:This hotel is perfect for a visit to Luxor. It is about a 20 minute walk from the site or a short taxi ride. Clean, comfortable and an excellent value.

Review 83:Evening buffet themes were all very much the same, regardless of the theme, and improvement could be made here. The smoking in the restaurant and lobby was a nuisance, and the reception area was often like a smog zone. There were many restaurants in the hotel, but we did not use them, the Japanese particularly looked overpriced.

Review 84:Location was splendid, with marvelous views across the Nile, and moderate walk to local sights. Meals were OK, and breakfast variety could be improved, as it was a little monotonous after a few days. The Xmas dinner spread was excellent, with carol singers, and marvelous food, well worth the money.

Review 85:Breakfast not at 4 star level but acceptable.

Review 86:Good central location in luxor. Nice staff and hotel clean and comfortable.

Review 87:Breakfasts were great!

Review 88:the price

Review 89:every thing was perfect

Review 90:The staff were extremely friendly, plus the view was spectacular.

Review 91:I like so much veiw of nile ... it so insightful

Review 92:lovely hotel but l seemed to be one of only a few guests due to situation in egypt at this time! food lovely helpful & fairly priced.

Review 93:I love everything about the Sonesta. It is in a good position and the restaurants are excellent. All the staff are friendly and welcoming
