Complejo Turístico La Garganta

Complejo Turístico La Garganta descritpion
An old flour factory dating from the year 1827 was totally renovated, and now offers all the amenities and comfort of a modern hotel.
The cozy rooms, mixing traditional elements with design details, all have a small living area and views of the natural surroundings of the “Desfiladero de los Gaitanes” – a beautiful gorge. Some of the rooms have two floors, making use of the enormous interior height of the old building.

Reviews for Complejo Turístico La Garganta
Review 1:The double bed was a little bit too small for us an the apartment is with very tiny stairs. so it was not so easy to take our luggage upstairs
Review 2:The location was perfect for climbing in the frontales area and the food tasted very good and was cheap.
Review 3:rooms with kitchen doesnt have nice views. One of the staff was very rude to us. Lidia the person welcomed us, she was not patience at all and not really good customer services. when we get in to the room, it was very smelly place, and we asked to be change to different room, and she was not happy. She booked ticket for Caminito del Rey, and she gave a card for 2 persons, when we asked 3 ticket, we had problems at the door, but finally we could get there. it was very expensive, 115 euros for an apartament with one room, and very small kitchen with livingroom, not breakfast included.
Review 4:beautiful place, very nice restaurant and amazing hotel location with the view of the montains
Review 5:That we couldn't use the swimming pool just because it was too cold.
Review 6:Excellent starting point for El Caminito del Rey. Amenities in bathroom are like in 4* hotel!
Review 7:Superb location to walk and see Caminito del Rey and the beautiful landscapes locally. Magnificent building - tastefully adapted to meet tourist needs.
Review 8:The room was small and poorly furnished, the restaurant served sub standard food, and the service was mediocre.
Review 9:Apart from the convenience of the location, the hotel had little to commend it.
Review 10:No. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 11:Convenient location for a midday flight from Malaga; but amazing geology and scary walk to and across the very narrow gorge. Well worth the visit.
Review 12:The menu hasn't changed in 5 years and 3 meals were sent back for being cold, stone cold pork and chicken? Also they always try to put you in the smallest average room and when you ask to swap the hotel is full when it is never nearly half full
Review 13:The venue is excellent for us as rock climbers, great rooms nice pool location to the rock
Review 14:In the appartement we had 2 bedrooms but there was no roof, so you could hear everything from eachother The food in the evening was not really good. To big portions but the taste...
Review 15:Perfect location to visit el caminito del rey. The swimming pool and the view from the swimming pool and terras
Review 16:Perfect location to visit El Caminito del Rey (best to do it from Acceso Norte and exit through Acceso Sur) and El Torcal. Great pool and restaurant with the best views.
Review 17:Possibly not the safest rooms for young children and seemed an expensive additional cost for extra bed for a young child. However, it was a fun room and reflective of the area.
Review 18:Good location and interesting area. Nice hotel and perfectly good meal with excellent views.
Review 19:The first room we were offered was a duplex room, which was very dark and cramped, when we asked to be moved, we had a lovely large airy room and were happy.
Review 20:The food, the location and the cleanliness of the hotel.
Review 21:Spiral staircase not great in rooms but would not stop us returning
Review 22:Beautiful situation. Very friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble We enjoyed our stay and will return.
Review 23:It was an apartment but it needs some new cutlery & crockery
Review 24:El Chorro is beautiful Staff very friendly We stumbled across hotel in April we had to stay when we came over Brilliant Wifi
Review 25:Only less positive point not having the wall partition between each room going to ceiling so you can hear people in the next room. Air conditioning unit is useful but noisy leaving it on through night.
Review 26:I have stayed twice at the hotel. In a double room with kitchen and two bedroom apartment. Both are lovely. The two bedroom apartment was particularly lovely with a terrace overlooking the Caminito. Restaurant is also lovely and a wonderful pool. Friendly staff.
Review 27:Smoking - in corridors of the accommodation and the excellent vine covered outdoor eating area was so smoked out as to be unusable.
Review 28:Location, history of the hotel and its conversion from a flour miĺl to hotel. Staff friendly and helpful
Review 29:no wifi available for guests over two days. the hotel need (as other hotels do) send emails to travellers with explicit instruction to find. Spain does not have consistently clear signs at times. Google maps will do crazy things and Sat Nav is also unreliable. Written clear concise step by step instructions work for us and our friends every time. Also rustic local dishes on the dinner menu would have been much appreciated.
Review 30:Lush gardens and tranquility, lovely terrace , room , pool.. well provisioned breakfast. Incredible help and support to Harvey who collected us,from a goat paddock with more potholes than road surface. He also directed us to Grazalema the next day.. divinetiny village.
Review 31:Bed a bit small and not super comfortable but OK for one night.
Review 32:The location. Picked for walking the Camineto del Rey and couldn't be more perfect for that. Staff lovely and helpful.
Review 33:The split level apartment idea doesn't really work. The very narrow spiral staircase between levels is inconvenient. Wifi didn't work. It connected initially, but then didn't respond. Security of the wifi is suspect as it kept giving me warning messages.
Review 34:Near the Caminito del Rey, and the hotel provided free tickets at short notice, even though the Caminito was fully booked for several months.
Review 35:The spiral staircase between the lounge and bedroom would be a problem for some people. Breakfast ought to have been included as the room cost 100 Euros per night.
Review 36:The view was great.
Review 37:Beware of potentially treacherous spiral staircase in the room! We were fine but less able guests may struggle with it
Review 38:The bar and restaurant were lovely. Room had great view and was nice and sunny
Review 39:Terrible Wifi. The rooms are a good size but painted in dark blue and mustard making them feel enclosed and gloomy. But they were heated well making them cosy for the cooler evenings.
Review 40:The setting is perfect, beautiful views and easy to walk to the Caminito del Rey. Pool area is also good over looking the cannon. Food is hit or miss, with some dishes being very good and others pretty awful. Their house salad is lovely and they have a good choice of vegetarian dishes which is unusual for the Spanish (although the tempura was soggy and the batter was way too thick to be called tempura). Meat dishes went down well with my husband. House wine by the glass was undrinkable, I set it back but was still charged for it!
Review 41:No non-slip treads in bath with overhead shower. Bedrooms on second floor have small tight spiral staircase to sleeping area and bathroom.
Review 42:Location, stunning views, helpful friendly staff, restaurant menu, well stocked mini-bar!
Review 43:The wifi wasn't working our entire stay.
Review 44:After driving all day through beautiful landscapd yet very windy roads we were more than ready to stop. Upon arriving this place exceeded all of our expectations. We arrived on Christmas eve and even though their restaurant was closed, they made us a wonderful spread of salad, meats, cheeses, bread and wine. It was wonderful!
Review 45:The upstairs bedrooms are of poor quality The amount and size of the food served in the restaurant was far to large you could very easy share BUT of very good quality
Review 46:The bedrooms on the ground floor are far superior to the upstairs rooms but they need shaving mirrors in the bathrooms. Which are excellent
Review 47:kitchenette very basic we did not manage to connect to the Wi-Fi at all, I have travelled extensively and do not usually have an issue, it was something to do with 'connection not trusted' and I did not want to risk anything. To be fair, we did not pursue this with management.
Review 48:excellent view from room nice restaurant very convenient location nice outside bar with great view
Review 49:No Wi-Fi. Expensive. Small over-priced meals. No satellite TV.
Review 50:Location. Swimming pool. Great views. Comfortable apartment. Good almost full length bath.
Review 51:The balcony sleeping level in the 2/3 story rooms was too hot to sleep in despite the airconditioning below which didnt reach the upper level. We therefore upgraded to an appartment which was all on 1 level and was lovely, a great design and brilliant balcony. outside
Review 52:view, stunning, pool amazing, staff really friendly and helpful, the single story appartments were wonderful, but not cheap.
Review 53:bed is a bit too hard / a/c is not great / people with mobility issues might find it difficult to move around the room though the room layout is very nice yet a bit unpractical.
Review 54:Location / Breakfast (humble but very tasty) / Staff very helpful / the place in general / Very clean / peace and tranquility!
Review 55:Wifi very poor to non-existing, noise of the electric powerplant at night. Poor knowledge of other languages but Spanish by staff and cooperaters. Payment of the bill was asked in cash. Payment by creditcard (Mastercard) was not working out, had to use Maestro / Bancontact card.
Review 56:Nice location with spectacular view. Good clean accomodation with airco and complete bathroom. Parking facilities. Helpful staff. Nice area for walking.
Review 57:Room is pretty nice with castle style. It's really nice view to mountains. Restaurant is really good.

Review 96:Nothing.
Review 97:Both hotel in itself and it's settings.
Review 98:Amazing location with very friendly staff - good choice of food and very well presented. Unfortunately the gorge walk was closed as it's under maintenance, but there was a good choice of alternatives. However this will deffinately be a return location for us. Easy walking/cycling with tremendous vista on all routes.
Review 99:duplex rooms dangerous in case of fire, little information about trains and possibilities [ hiking], some of the restaurant staff unskilled [ two times out of two ordered meal forgotten and no knowledge of drinks available]
Review 100:wonderful environment, good place for hiking, nice food

Review 104:The food was not too good.
Review 105:This hotel is in a fabulous location . It was nice to have a choice of rooms - self catering or hotel. The staff were pleasant.
Review 106:the beds were very uncomfortable, the food was overpriced and not great, the rooms were only serviced twice during five days, the furniture was cheap and broken, there were no cups or glasses in the apartment. the room was expensive considering all of above. the low level hum from the hydropower station
Review 107:The pool, the view, the proximity to the lakes, the building looks very pretty from outside. the pool was amazing. the wildlife.
