Reviews for Hotel Zeus
Review 1:nothing to complain about
Review 2:Has car parking, so good for a road trip, short 10 minute walk to town. Great place Merida, small town, with fantastic roman ruins. Hotel is clean, cheap and comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Review 3:Very noisy late night and early morning neighbours on our final night. Decor of room & bathroom typical oldish Spanish (we prefer modern and contemporary).
Review 4:Location, stunning sunsets from the balcony and excellent breakfast for just 6 euros. Easy to find and very good wi-fi which enabled us to watch UK TV. Fantastic water pressure and hot water for showering. Free parking.
Review 5:Very Good for an overnight stop but I would not want to spend more than a day or so there
Review 6:A very pleasant hotel. Good location. Good parking. Quite a way though to a good restaurant Good value
Review 7:Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. We had a problem with the luggage carrier on our Vespa and they stored our luggage until we could get back to pick it up. Very close to all the Roman remains, bullring, town centre, retail park and the motorway.
Review 8:No bad experience but would have been nice to be able to get a drink or snack at hotel bar on arrival at 3 pm
Review 9:All was expected from previous reviews we had read. Wifi was good and staff welcoming. Breakfast was more than adequate.
Review 10:Shower curtains and breakfast not to our taste
Review 11:Retro style of hotel, room was spacious and quiet, location very good and swimming pool a bonus! Best value quality/price
Review 12:The bedroom was very small
Review 13:The location. The Hotel was easy to find and only a few minutes walk from the Town centre. It also has a very pleasant outdoor restaurant and pool area. The staff were very helpful.
Review 14:You have to go up a lot of steps to get to the lift. Parking was a trial - but the receptionist was very helpful in finding a space.
Review 15:Breakfast was an excellent buffet but staff were grumpy. The pool is nice but the area around it is shabby & the bar was not open. The room was clean but very like a hostel.
Review 16:Rooms are a bit tired and dated. The ancient t.v. didn't work. Not enough electric sockets to charge phones and tablet, though they did supply an extension lead when asked
Review 17:The swimming pool was great. A real treat to relax and cool off after a long drive. The terrace bar was a good place to be in the evening serving a range of food and drinks, though not tea or coffee!
Review 18:Very poor breakfast. Industrial plastic wrapped "croissants" and other cakes un-edible. Bad coffee from slow coffee machine
Review 19:The friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money room. Good location for visiting ancient Roman sites. With temperatures of 40degC, the clean and refreshing pool was welcome. The outdoor restaurant near the pool had a limited choice, but was good, with friendly staff.
Review 20:The bedroom was too small and sparsely furnished and not too well cleaned with a lot of dust under the hard single beds and the bathroom was old and tarnished. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and not any other meals. The bar was not open at all although the manager did get us 2 beers. Breakfast was only 6 euros each but was poor.
Review 21:We liked being able to cool off in the pool but we had to wait for someone to unlock the pool area which was in need of care and attention.
Review 22:The air condintioning did not work .This when the temperatures were up in the 90's ,unfortunately it was totally unacceptable . very unpleasant . Outside gardens completely overgrown and full of weeds . Lack of maintenance
Review 23:They accept pets The location was good for getting into the city . The gentlemen that manned the reception were extrelemy pleasant
Review 24:Airco did pretty much nothing besides noise (asuming it was airco and not just air), hair drier with similar problem. No fridge in room. Thus, I think a bit short in room facilities for a 3-star and the price.
Review 25:Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, free parking. Merida is small so location is good even if the hotel seems a bit away.
Review 26:Unusually there were no power points in room, reduced to using the shaver power point in bathroom, not very good for today's traveller business or otherwise, given most people will have a multitude of tech to keep charged.
Review 27:Clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast. 5 minute walk into town square with variety of restaurants etc.
Review 28:From the reception on the ground floor we had to carry our baggage to the first floor to get the lift to go to the third floor.
Review 29:The hotel was very nice and central
Review 30:The patio doors did not appear to lock so felt a bit insecure overnight although as we were on 3rd floor it was OK Reported it to Reception the next morning
Review 31:The staff were helpful, we could park the car outside, the room was clean and comfortable
Review 32:The breakfast was good value but chaotic. There was only one member of staff to deal with a large number of people and to top up empty platters.
Review 33:This budget hotel was in an excellent location, easy to locate and with a free car park. We had a special, very cheap 3 day rate which, in total, was excellent value. The rooms were simple, clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 34:Couldn't find hotel despite using postcode, 3 sat navs, internet and booking .coms directions which are wrong. Plumbing in hotel is poor by UK standards so when someone uses the bathroom its really noisy throughout the hotel. Breakfast was not kept topped up with ham or cheese and waiter was surly
Review 35:Location, Parking
Review 36:There are 11 steps to the lift and three down before it is accessed. Although staff are willing to help with luggage there are lot for old and disabled to negotiate. Car park would not accommodate all guests if full.
Review 37:Breakfast was poor (not a lot of diversity). he hotel needs a renovation and for the price paid I believe that the rooms could be a bit more cozy (they were poorly decorated and cold at times).
Review 38:Location. If you only need a place to sleep (as you intend to be outdoors during the day/night) then Hotel Zeus could be an okayish solution.
Review 39:The room was cold as it was December.
Review 40:Closeness to sights. Free parking in front of hotel. Easy to find. Great restaurant around corner, Alacena. Excellent food and very good price
Review 41:No bath plug!
Review 42:We turned up late for breakfast (due to a very late night of dancing). However, the staff did everything possible to make sure we had something before we left the hotel. We were also offered free unlimited parking the day of our departure as we wanted to do some sightseeing before we left Mérida. The hotel is well situated - just 7.5 minutes gentle walk from the town centre. One of the sights (the ancient Roman patrician Villa Mitreo) we wanted to see was literally across the road! Hotel Zeus was excellent value for what we wanted.
Review 43:I only chose to stay at this hotel because they made a feature of a private balcony attached to each room. That was not the case. I did not get a room with balcony. I complained but they said there were no balcony rooms available. The details specified a balcony. There was only one restaurant nearby but only five or ten minutes into town.
Review 44:A nice big room and bathroom. A good view across the city. Short walk into town.
Review 45:The outside of the Hotel does not reflect the very nice ambience of the inside of the Hotel, and the fact that it is right next a quiet Petrol Station, did not really detract from the niceness of our stay at all. It had many really great features to counterbalance these minor points.
Review 46:Good Location, Good Value for Money, Good Breakfast, Clean Room, Nice Room and Bathroom with nice views over hills, Nice Staff, Free Parking, Nice Pool with Pool Bar/Snack/Dinner Area! Plenty to do within just a nice 10 minute walk away!!
Review 47:The room was very basic. The air conditioning was not working, so we slept with the balcony doors open until we could not stand the noise of the trucks and buses driving over the close by speed hump any longer. Also the anxiety of intruders was ever present. There were mosquitos. There were no plugs for the basin nor bath tub, although the staff found one for us. The desk chair was broken and gave way whilst I was sitting on it. Once again, the staff replaced this. The hotel is a fair distance from the centre of the city, however do-able.
Review 48:The staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly and courteous. The parking is free. The breakfast adequate.
Review 49:Unfortunately, the hotel was obviously built and equipped on a budget and this shows in all aspects. The walls are paper thin and unforgiveably the mattresses very poor quality and uncomfortable. The bath was stained. The room was hot as the hotal had had little protection from the heat during the summer because of its poor construction. I could not get the (very old) TV to work. If you are on a low budget and only spending one night it´s probably ok.
Review 50:The position is excellent, really close to the centre. The parking is very easy to access, you drive directly off the main avenue into the car park. Plus it´s free. The staff are very pleasant. It has a swimming pool but I cannot comment specifically as it was closed when we stayed there (late September).
Review 51:The air conditioner did not work well at all. The room was very basic, small, and run down looking and the staff at the restaurant weren't very friendly.
Review 52:The hotel is in a great location 10 minutes walk to the ruins in Merida. The staff was friendly, good wifi, safe parking lot.
Review 53:Noisiest plumbing I've heard - including from adjoining rooms. No evening meals.
Review 54:Great position and good parking.
Review 55:Nice localization Top staff
Review 56:Walking distance to the ruins. Interesting Roman decor.
Review 57:Excellent staff, good parking and very close to the town centre
Review 58:Up and down stairs to get to the lift.
Review 59:The room didn't feel like a 3 star hotel.
Review 60:The whole hotel has modern facilities. The breakfast was very good! Free parking in the hotel grounds.
Review 61:Excellent quality/price, friendly staff
Review 62:I really liked the staff. They were very friendly and professional.
Review 63:The breakfast could be a bit better.
Review 64:Very easy to find, central and near the attractions. Good swimming pool and quiet.
Review 65:All good I would stay again.
Review 66:Great place. Arrived late but no problem with food and a drink.
Review 67:just of motorway next to petrol station. 4 star rating is pushing it abit.....
Review 68:Pool, aircon and balcony
Review 69:the feeling that things were run down
Review 70:staff were helpful and friendly
Review 71:Excellent location just on the edge of the old town. It was set on a busy main road but the sound proofing was good and it was a quiet room.
Review 72:Nice to have a pool after a long day of sightseeing. Car park available on sight.
Review 73:Difficult to find entrance - next to garage on slip road
Review 74:Great Location for Merida
Review 75:Very Poor breakfast
Review 76:close to Roman ruins. swimming pool acceptable
Review 77:Pool area very useful in hot weather. Good, varied breakfast buffet.
Review 78:TV didn't work short walk across car park to pool area
Review 79:Cheap cheerful
Review 80:Difficult to find. not as close to the town as expected. Pool wasn't open.
Review 81:Very clean, nice staff
Review 82:The eternally closed Bar The untidy pool surrounds The breakfast The out of order lift for our 4th floor room
Review 83:Free wifi
Review 84:STaff were excellent. Reception staff spoke very good English and very knowledgeable re location of sites
Review 85:Restaurant not open for Dinner. Breakfast limited.
Review 86:Hotel easy to find.
Review 87:access to rooms involved a dozen marble stairs up followed by three down JUST to access the lift !!!
Review 88:Very helpful rception staff
Review 89:The staff were pleasant and helpful
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:Fantastic area to explore Roman ruins. Very helpful staff. Looked after U.S. very well.
Review 92:No restaurant nearby
Review 93:Near to Roman sites
Review 94:necesidad de subir escaleras para llegar al ascensor, desayuno mejorable
Review 95:posición, trato del personal, precio
Review 96:The staff did not speak english.
Review 97:Very close to the main attractions. Walking distanse. So much roman history close by
Review 98:Free parking and location.
Review 99:When we arrived at this hotel it was all closed up so we had to look for alternative rooms. as you can imagine we were not very pleased.
Review 100:Third bed very bad
Review 101:Very good location, near the main archeological sites.
Review 102:Had to ask for change of bedding as appeared to have not been changed
Review 103:Staff friendly. Room comfort good.
Review 104:window in my room does not close properly, all the cold weather from outside was leaking in to my room.
Review 105:It was clean
Review 106:Heating not adequate for the room (in November)
Review 107:Friendly staff Location Free parking
Review 108:thin walls/noise from other rooms although reasonably minimal...
Review 109:location, staff
Review 110:Room was small No air-con
Review 111:Can easily walk into the centre
Review 112:Nothing to say
Review 113:Location, good value for money
Review 114:Room is really small
Review 115:The position is easy to be reached and with a short walk you are downtown Merida
Review 116:Room smelled of cigarette Elevator doesn't go the the ground floor, you have to go up stairs to get to the elevator!
Review 117:AC Location
Review 118:Very tired hotel no plug in bath room towels very old, pillows old and dirty, not a 3 star hotel.
Review 119:There is no lift until you have gone up part of a marble staircase, I am sure the reception staff would have taken our bags up had we have needed help as they offered to get them from the car which was just outside (an added bonus as it was free parking)
Review 120:The hotel was well situated to be able to see all the Roman sites, we were given a map on arrival with a route already chosen to make the best of the time we had. There is no restaurant for dinner but this was an advantage as we were able to see Merida and enjoy the local people
Review 121:Zeus hotel may have been a 3 star hotel when we stayed there some ten years ago, but it is not now.It is rather faded and needs modernising. Breakfast needs to be improved if it wants to have a 3 star rating.
Review 122:location is convenient for visiting the Roman sites and parking is easy, just outside the hotel
Review 123:Small rooms breakfast poor no restaurant , in need decoration and refurbishment
The Fine Print
Please note the hotel swimming pool is open from 10 June until 10 September.
