Reviews for Hotel Conde Rodrigo I

Review 1:Location, staff, hotel, beautiful uncrowded city. Almost undiscovered by Americans! We are from the USA and love traveling to hidden gems. This town and hotel were perfect for us!

Review 2:Had to park away from the Hotel.Plumbing a little noisy and people in the next room who kept the TV on nearly all night......not too loud but used ear plugs !!

Review 3:A last minute booking, central location.Good beds, hot water.Room a little tired at the edges.Good buffet breakfast with the addition of cooked eggs and bacon....delicious.Good value.

Review 4:There is more noise and traffic then you would expect considering the location in the old town.

Review 5:Good value, good location, great breakfast.Price is very god also.

Review 6:Parking is a hassle. There are few paid public parking spaces on the square, but they are almost always full. For this being an old building with thick stone walls, it is surprisingly noisy. You can hear voices from the other rooms.

Review 7:Location is in the historic part of the city within easy walking distance to all the historic sites. The room is spacious. The old building has a great character.

Review 8:All town centre parking costs money and time is limited. Hotels elsewhere, eg Huerta Honda in Zafra, have special tokens that enable hotel guests to buy 24 hr street parking. Cuidad hoteliers should try to get similar scheme. I parked outside restricted area and car was broken into.

Review 9:breakfast experience poor, lady was grumpy, clearly did not want to be there and it soured the breakfast experience

Review 10:location, reception gentleman was delightful, wifi good, allowed choice of room to be accomodated, will go back.

Review 11:The internet access was a little limited and the parking arrangements were not well explained but that is probably because of local political difficulties

Review 12:The cleanliness and the service

Review 13:Showen in bath, vers slippers,so I fell, headwound with much bloeding and A rib contusion. Reaction of the staff: Nothing, just shook his shoullders 2. No parking avalable.comment of the staff: park your car somewhere.

Review 14:My only suggestion would be if they could make several copies of the garage key. For the time being you have to ask for the key to remove your car, give it back, when.you come back, stop at the hotel, get the key drive to the parking... The parking is approx 200 meters from the hotel.

Review 15:Situation of hotel in the centre, friendly staff, value for money, room confort

Review 16:Paper thin walls, and with an amorous couple in the next room led to a sleepless night until one left at 03.30.Not the first time we have had an issue with noise at this hotel it seems that the rooms are divided by plaster board partitions resulting in the feeling that you are almost sharing with the other room.To be avoided in the future which is a pity as we were regular users up to now to and from Portugal but I value my sleep too much to return.

Review 17:The restaurant is good value

Review 18:Car parking is 'on street' and a bit of a bun fight.

Review 19:Hotel is in the 'grand' style but a little tired around the edges. If room 106 was anything to go by then a little on the small side for a couple for a one night stay with luggage for a couple of weeks. Location is good, plenty to explore in the old town. Breakfast a treat with the waiter waiting to pounce - but it was very quiet as the day after the 4 day Toro carnival in February.

Review 20:I chose the place for a night sleep on my way driving up North. Not that far from the highway. I was attracted by the historical walled town and arrived in time for a walk around. The place is worth a visit with some more time to spare. The hotel was perfect for what I needed. Parking can be a problem. I left mine not far from the hotel (about 300 m I guess) outside the wall, was a bit concerned about it but had not problem.

Review 21:We had absolutely no concerns while we were there.

Review 22:Beautiful little town, quiet, and full of friendly people. Used our little room as a jumping off point for Salamanca. Originally, intended to stay one night. Room, staff, and locale we're so comfortable we stayed two nights. Made a day trip and Salamonca and avoided the high cost and congestion of the major city.

Review 23:Lack of English speaking staff or translations on menus etc.

Review 24:Extremely central for the attractions of Ciudad Rodrigo. This was our second stay and we would recommend it to others. Rooms are spacious and comfortable although this time we were at the back of the hotel so no view. Food good in both the restaurant and the bar and very reasonably priced. All in all a very good stay.

Review 25:not a thing

Review 26:beautiful hotel, excellently clean and comfortable, staff very helpful, wanted to stay an extra night as it was so good - we were immediately booked into the same room and nothing was too much trouble, although parking could be an issue in such a small city we did not have any problems,

Review 27:A little noisy outside the front of the hotel in the early hours of the morning.

Review 28:Location was good, breakfast was great -enjoyed the freshly cooked bacon /eggs. Lovely hotel.

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:Travelling through Spain to Portugal decided to travel a different way and this was an excellent area to stop off and take in old Spain. Having safe parking was a bonus.

Review 31:Location in centre of town pleasant staff

Review 32:The style and comfort.

Review 33:Noisy rooms.

Review 34:This place was beautiful and incredible! Such a memorable place to stay.

Review 35:The position

Review 36:Location and room.

Review 37:Great position and value for money

Review 38:Helpful staff; very nice room; good value for money

Review 39:Rooms in old building are obviously dark.

Review 40:Location Location, and very comfortable.

Review 41:Really lovely Spanish hotel in a great spot Whats not to like ??

Review 42:Large room, central location, good restaurant & bar

Review 43:Staff excellent, location great.

Review 44:A handsome historic city

Review 45:Our room was at the back ; no view and noisy machimera outside

Review 46:Central location close to Plaza Major and restaurants.

Review 47:Its paper thin walls, at least in the room we stayed in, made sleeping difficult.

Review 48:Location, cleanliness, price, courtesy of employees

Review 49:Parking can be difficult

Review 50:Completely fell in love with the whole place. The dining room was an great experience ,wide menu plenty of food.

Review 51:Location, service and gin selection!

Review 52:Beautiful location in a walled city...very historical and beautiful little patio in the middle of town.

Review 53:Everything

Review 54:None of the staff had any English. The window had a heavy blind and could not be opened which meant that we had to sleep with the air conditioning on all night and we could not see out of the window.

Review 55:Passed through Ciudad Rodrigo last year and decided we had to come back. Amazing setting and building. Very Spanish. Hotel comfy, clean, food good, breakfast cooked to order. Already making plans for a longer stay in the autumn.

Review 56:uncomfortable pillow. They need to think in change it for individual ones. Also the room was an interior room no views at all, quite dark.

Review 57:The character and the location of the hotel. Nice and quick laundry service.

Review 58:a challenge to locate, suggest park car outside wall near cathredral and walk in to find hotel in Plaza Salvador.

Review 59:Peacefully situated inside old town. Parking nearby, free in evening and untill 10 am. the next morning.

Review 60:Nothing!

Review 61:This hotel is a pure gem, it is located at the heart of the town and all the sites are easy walking distance. We had a wonderful room with all the amenities. We would certainly return.

Review 62:No English speaking TV channel available not important but it would have been nice. Very poor sound insulation between rooms - we could hear Spanish voices at 11pm at one side and American voices( and even the words) at 7am on the other side!

Review 63:lovely spot, lovely historic building, nice furniture etc. Staff spoke English, were very helpful, breakfast good. All in all a really nice hotel.

Review 64:Parking in the narrow street with car. Or the alternative nearby underground car park which I do not recommend for the faint hearted with large cars. And do take care walking in this historical place it was not build to accommodate pedestrians and local young people in fast cars.

Review 65:The beautiful historic setting & furnishings. The bar tenders incredible gin & tonics chosen a selection larger than we have ever seen in one place. The comfortable friendly panelled dining room with the dinner , breakfast and service of a very high standard. we recommend it highly.

Review 66:Ciudad Rodrigo is full of parking meters and the hotel's undergound parking is VERY difficult to drive into with anyhing other than a very small car-and the help of another person acting as 'guide'.

Review 67:Very friendly staff and the hotel's location within the old city walls. Good food.

Review 68:Lovely hotel .. except for the neighbour who had his T.V. on too loud all night. Hotels should automatically limit Volume after 10pm. I had to change room at 2.30am.

Review 69:Nothing, but parking on the street could become more difficult at busy times. We were lucky!

Review 70:The hotel was well situated for the town. Parking was on a meter immediately outside the hotel and was not expensive. The hotel breakfast was very good and the room was comfortable.

Review 71:Reception person not helpful but other staff made up for it. Parking garage is tiny and extremely difficult to park in. Parking within walls is almost non-existent. Price is not equal to services provided.

Review 72:The location within the city walls

Review 73:lack of parking near to hotel cars are left outside the walls unless you are lucky and find the odd one in the square. but it is a mainly pedestrian area.

Review 74:excellent hotel & staff hotel in centre of the walled city with excellent rooms.

Review 75:Our room had no view; the window was right next to the kitchen exhaust so we had food smells early in the morning

Review 76:Perfect location, old fashioned interior design, great breakfast, excellent value for money

Review 77:Room air con a bit weak.

Review 78:Fantastic hotel with really helpful staff, beautiful design and excellent location. Breakfast was excellent and the room was lovely.

Review 79:the breakfast, without natural juice, and the fruit not good

Review 80:the situation, very quite place, with place to park the car, the terrace in front where it takes some drinks

Review 81:When we arrived at the city on a Sunday evening two of the main entrances into the walled city were closed due to I think to some bull running earlier in the day. Luckily we had been here a few times before and new a back way in,but a stranger would have struggled. An e mail from the hotel warning us would have been nice.

Review 82:Excellent location inside walled city, metered parking outside and round the corner, free between 8pm and 10am. Nice sized room overlooking the plaza with 2 big beds, good bathroom with quality products, all clean and newly renovated.(room 202). Good breakfast choice of usual cold meats, cereals, fruit, jams, breads, tortilla, and fried eggs and bacon on request.

Review 83:A very minor thing: the hairdryer: one of those old things fixed to the wall, far too weak.

Review 84:Fantastic location, huge room with a balcony (view towards the cathedral), very friendly staff! The restaurant is also good.

Review 85:This small rural hotel was an unpleasant place to stay. The rooms weredark and dreary, and rather beat up. The breakfast was stale andunappealing -- advertised eggs, but we were not offered them. Definitelynot good value for money -- I would not return again.

Review 86:Admittedly only there for one night, but room had virtually no natural light.

Review 87:Tremendous location, helpful staff, secure parking, value for money

Review 88:The room is very hot

Review 89:Location

Review 90:- room isolation (noisy)

Review 91:- location - staff - breakfast

Review 92:Everything. It was fabulous.

Review 93:Superb quality hotel

Review 94:Very nice location of the hotel in the center of the village. Typical historical house.

Review 95:Noisy water conducts.

Review 96:The place itself.

Review 97:+ Everything fine, more than I would expect for a 3 star.

Review 98:nada

Review 99:todo

Review 100:Helpful staff, lovely old building with effective air con in temperature of 36 degrees. Good breakfast. Secure parking.

Review 101:nothing to dislike

Review 102:I liked it all

Review 103:wonderful location in historic centre of the town and elegant and peaceful surroundings.

Review 104:Lacking in atmosphere

Review 105:Very nice location

Review 106:A charming hotel in a delightful area. Well signed once in town. Would come again. A piece of real rural Spain.
