Reviews for Auberge du Teillon
Review 1:Located right on a main road...so if you're noise sensitive...could be a problem. Long skinny stairway to haul your bags up. Goes with the territory I guess.
Review 2:Restaurant associated with the hotel and the owner is chef....is just lovely. Great food and even better presentation. Bathrooms and rooms small but modern and they have tried to update things in this very old building, which is a challenge I'm sure. Daily maid service with nice amenities appreciated. Staff so accomodating and nice.
Review 3:Small room, poorly finished tiny bed,and I could not use the toilet it was just redicoulsy small for a biggish man,it seems that most hoteliers in France have the out look, visitors are doing the hotel a favour in stopping, not a good plan.
Review 4:The Resturant was fine, but a very limited set meal price, breakfast a rip off,and the menu was fixed the same every day,the hotel,Aburge?has a good name, but only in EATING,the receptionist was very helpful, same with all the staff
Review 5:WIFI was a little erratic at times
Review 6:The restaurant is amazing. Fabulous degustation menu for a reasonable price and with excellent service. Be sure to book in advance!!
Review 7:Room was basic and bed was only just about comfortable.
Review 8:Dinner was good, even if at times there might have been a little more emphasis on preparation rather than presentation.
Review 9:Bad people. we came somewhat late as we had a problem with the car, and Proprietors offended us in an ugly language and practicly threw us out of their premisses.
Review 10:Rooms quite small but everything you require wifi required sign in regularly and this didn't work half of the time, the system they use isnt great but when you finally get on, speed and signal are fine. Very Basic rooms but pleasant and clean Hotel is actually a popular restaurant, prices for meals are between €30 and €80 per person and the wine starts at €18 per bottle food is excellent but difficult to get cheap drinks and food in your room. would suggest the nearby supermarket if you are on a budget
Review 11:Very pleasant staff Clean Comfy nice spot outside of town Easy to park and free Nearby huge supermarket outside of Castallane if your on a budget
Review 12:We enjoyed staying at this small hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and our room was clean and comfortable, albeit very small. The restaurant was a surprise! White tablecloths and atmospheric with quite a crowd for such a remote little village and out of season. The dinner and breakfast were delicious.
Review 13:it a lie to call this an Hotel. it's vicinty to the road and general conditions are more suitable for a MOTEL! the name is misleading since it's not in castellane but in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the vicinity of castellane (4 km away) in a village of about 10 houses still, we had to get the code to the door at that time of night, meaning it's not even a very safe place. we booked and paid extra for a double room and recieved a twin room with the two beds laid as if they were one. as a twin room, it was obiously smaller and all the room facilities were unsuitable for a couple. the room and the "hotel" had a very bad smell as if it was recently painted but not aerated and the paint fumes were disgusting. the sheets were moist and our sleep was forced we felt as if we were taken advantage of since we had no choise but to arrive late. at 7:00 the morning as soon as the manager woke up we cancelled the overpriced breakfest we booked, paid our bill and took off since we were so traumatized by the experiance we didn't even feel like staying to discuss out ordeal with the manager and get our money back. in conclusion don't waist your money. it felt bad and dishonost so don't give them your money
Review 14:the only good thing was that the manger allowed us to check in by phone and left a key in the door since we arrived at 23:00. even that was a sham since id we arrived at bussines hours we'd probably got the hell out of there
Review 15:If you have big and heavy baggage please note that there is no elevator and aisles are very narrow.
Review 16:The room is little but stylish and clean. The surronding village is very nice to visit and peaceful. Private free parking and excellent restaurant. Nice and friendly owner.
Review 17:The roooms themselves were rather plain with windows that opened to the road. Nothing special, but not bad. The neon light from the sign shone in our room intil around 22:00 when it was turned off.
Review 18:The restaurant here was excellent and quite unexpected. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend it.
Review 19:Good base for visiting the Verdon Gorge and Castellane, Fabulous restaurant.
Review 20:we had 2 single beds whereas we asked for a double room. the pastries served for breakfast were good but lack of choice
Review 21:nice mattress and nice staff
Review 22:Excellent Meal in the Resturant Good Breakfast Staff very helpful
Review 23:Good food served by staff who were well trained
Review 24:The hotel is situated next to Route Napoleon, so there was some noise from the traffic.

Review 29:Location
Review 30:Friendly staff, excellent restaurant.
Review 31:Room was clean and nice. Small and quiet hotel. Good for trips in the area.
Review 32:Great base to visit Gorges du Verdon and Moustiers Sainte Marie. Free parking.
Review 33:Restaraunt downstairs was excellent!!
Review 34:Delightful family-run Auberge. Delicious food.
Review 35:Nothing
Review 36:Very welcoming, spotless room, Devine dinner, good value for the quality and standard of cuisine, attentive English speaking staff.
Review 37:Position backing on to main road. Room was small, austere and lacking in any form of character. Low quality bed and fittings. No plug in the washbasin!!
Review 38:Restaurant facilities and food were absolutely first class. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 39:Our room was so small that it was difficult to manuever around our 2 suitcases that had to be open on the floor because there were no other options. Probably the only neon flashing light in a 60 mile radius was flashing outside of our room and the curtains were sheer, so we had to deal with that light all night.
Review 40:The shower and restroom facilities were great. The room was clean. The hotel was quiet
Review 41:My wife didn't really like the room or the bed but I didn't mind either and while I'd stay there again she wouldn't. This is also not Castellane but about 5km outside of it in a little town called Le Garde, so there is nothing much to do except walk, hike, run, eat and sleep. It served its purpose well for us though.
Review 42:This Inn was the cheapest place we stayed in on our holiday. It's on the side of a road so easy to find and has a tiny, tiny village behind it. Our goal was 1 night stay coming from Nice before driving the Gorge du Verdon to Moustiers Sainte Marie. It had good parking. The lady at the front was very friendly and showed us to our rooms and gave us an English menu to look over for the nights meal. You need to book the meal as its really busy. The highlight of this place is definitely the food. It was a full house food wise and deservedly so. We enjoyed everything. The room is basic inn style but serves the purpose of 1 night. In the room we found a small gecko which came to say hello Some might dislike this. My wife didn't like staying there but I was really happy. I talked to some other French guests the next morning and they also said the food was amazing but the rooms were not. There is good little hike starting opposite the hotel which we walked a bit before dinner and I got up early the next day and went for a run out the back of the village on some tiny hilly road which was quite refreshing and had zero traffic.
Review 43:No pressure in shower and tiny room.
Review 44:Worth going to this Auberge for the food alone. One of the best meals we have ever had. Attention to detail is second to none. Do yourself a favour and visit Auberge du Teillon.
Review 45:Wi-fi was awkward to use, and very slow.
Review 46:Dinner and breakfast at the auberge were excellent.
Review 47:The staff are all really friendly and the restaurant food is excellent.
Review 48:Noisy traffic if you're at the front of the hotel
Review 49:Hotel restaurant is excellent if a little pricey, rooms comfortable
Review 50:Noise from road and headlamps of cars made for a disturbed night if room at front of building
Review 51:Excellent menu and wel cooked food
Review 52:Pity about the rather "rustic" service. Staff were not as friendly as others have said.
Review 53:Excellent food
Review 54:Very friendly staff, superb restaurant with gourmet food.
