Reviews for A Quinta Da Auga Hotel Spa Relais & Chateaux
Review 1:If you're a guest at the hotel, they still charge you €28 to simply use the spa pool. That was a major down point for me.
Review 2:The hotel is lovely, very elegantly decorated. Amazing lunch at their restaurant. Staff was gentle.
Review 3:Restaurant closed on Sunday and Monday evenings. Coffee house served good food though. Extra charge for spa use.
Review 4:Rooms to a very high standard. Excellent breakfast. The suite was outstanding
Review 5:Beautiful sitting room, which was great to chill in during a very rainy stay. Great breakfast and a good, informal café as an alternative to the more formal dining room. Short drive to the centre of town, with good advice from staff on where to park.
Review 6:Couldn't fault it at all.
Review 7:This hotel was welcoming both inside and out. Food in both the cafe and main restaurant was excellent. Staff were excellent. Couldn't fault a thing about it!
Review 8:Would have been helpful to have more information about where to stand for returning bus, or simple map of the route, especially as the bus service was advertised as a plus .It would have been nice for the restaurant to open earlier in the evening - even though the spanish do not eat till late, most of the international guests I expect would prefer to eat a little earlier.
Review 9:Beautiful situation, and grounds, with the lovely sound of running water from the river below. Spacious room, and comfortable bed. Staff helpful whenever approached.
Review 10:Excellent restaurant - dinner, lunch and breakfast were all great. Staff were very helpful and charming. Design and presentation of whole property was very pleasing. Bed and bedding extremely comfortable. My room was lovely, with the soothing sound of the waterfall from the windows.
Review 11:Overall the hotel personnel are kind and helpful, but there were a couple of times when they seemed disorganised and the fact to blame was that we had made our booking through this site. Also, we went to have a sandwich at the bar 30 minutes before its supposed closing time and the waitress at the bar was not very happy about this (which she made clear to us). We also considered that eventhough the rooms were really clean, the spa was a bit dirty (eg. mouldy showers).
Review 12:This hotel is located outside the city centre in a wonderful area near a small river and forest. Really good choice if you're looking forward to relax after a long trip. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant offers delicious food at both breakfast and dinner times.
Review 13:The "ambiance" of combining the old (the building's original industrial use) With a New top rate Hospitality (many stars) hotel. Well done !!
Review 14:It is a shame that the spa facilities are not complimentary for all hotel guests. It was unclear when reserving that we would need to pay to access the pool.
Review 15:Beautiful and most comfortable room. Friendly staff and most helpful.
Review 16:The facility was beautiful and well kept. We liked the location being away from the downtown, but a bus stop was very close for access to that area. We found the history of the hotel to be interesting.
Review 17:This was the best hotel I have ever stayed in and perfect to relax in after the Camino. Beds and pillows were just to sink into and drift off. The spa was beautiful with excellent standard of deep tissue Ayurvedic massage easily booked. The breakfast was simply got for kings. This is a real treat, just on outskirts of Santiago for a relaxing getaway break.
Review 18:Wifi was a bit temperamental
Review 19:Hotel was beautiful. Gorgeous areas to relax in, both inside and out. Rooms were stunning. Good at breakfast was extremely tasty. A great way to relax after the Camino.
Review 20:An amazing stay after finishing the Camino. One of the best massages and facials I have ever had. All you'd expect from a 4 star hotel and more Great luxury as reward for the work of the Camino
Review 21:Would suggest to provide coffee making facilities in the rooms. Inside wooden window shutters tend to shut while they shouldn`t.
Review 22:Great ambience in historic building. Very tasteful, careful renovation. Typical yet discreet furniture and decoration. Extremely clean. Nice bar. Garden walks. 15 minutes to industrial Zone, but you hear the nightingale in the calm garden.
Review 23:The spa complex was an extra 28$ per person /night which was ridiculously expensive. The bed was too soft for my liking. The room was too hot at night and there was no a/c. We had to ;leave at 07.00 and reception said that they could arrange an early coffee, juice and croissant in the cafe, but when we arrived it was still closed.
Review 24:The room had a lovely ambiance and was well furnished. The Sunday lunch in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 25:Strong smell of creasote in the lobby. Had to take a taxi back and forth to Santiago.
Review 26:Peaceful setting. Very attentive staff. Spa was enjoyable. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast.
Review 27:Nothing
Review 28:The beauty of the building and furnishings. The food was fabulous we had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Everything was so good - the attention to detail and the choices and quality of the food was outstanding Very friendly staff and very comfortable rooms. This is a very special place.
Review 29:Maybe the position was not perfect.
Review 30:The staff at the front desk with Carmen in control, were the most friendly, helpful and informative group of people I came across in a long time.
Review 31:it is my second timestaying here and must say it is by far one of the best places I have stayed in Spain. it is quiet, comfortable and elegant. Excellent services and food...
Review 32:Hotel located outside Santiago, but still easyly reachable by public bus (1€ one way ticket) or by taxi (7-10€ one way)
Review 33:quality of the SPA, lunch in the restaurant Filigrana was a pure delight with waiters always making sure you have everything but very properly and discretly, comfort of the room, huge and calm library for the evening.
Review 34:The hotel seemed to be understaffed and some staff were seen as disorganized. Several staff members were very friendly and hospitably, although those in the breakfast room seemed to be indifferent and annoyed with guests.
Review 35:Nice property, historical hotel outside Santiago. Very nice treat after walking camino trail. Spa facilities, although they cost an additional charge are nice for relaxing. Quaint little café on site is great for light meals or drinks in the evening. Room was cosy and clean and window opened up to face the stream; nice to hear the waterfall from the room. Free minibar a bonus, although would be nice if beers or drinks other than soda were included in the minibar.
Review 36:The several points we like most of this hotel are: the lounge, the spa, the breakfast, and our room. Our room enhanced our pleasant feeling towards the hotel. The room number was 207, and there is a spring in front of the balcony door. We both like the tranquility feeling comes from the pleasant water sound. Even though the weather was already quite cold, we still most of the time left the door open. The lounge is decorated like a living room, with big leather sofa in front of the fire place. During our stay it was often a bit crowded. But it is easy to imagine, that other guests are also fond of this lovable place as we do. It would be a perfect place to relax and have a drink if other guests sitting around you talk and laugh less loud. The spa was also a wonderful experience for us. It requires extra entrance fee, even you are hotel guest, however as hotel guest one can have a deducted price which is 28 instead of 32. It might be the reason why it is so quiet there. The water massage is very comfortable. The sauna room is a bit small, but enough for 2. I like the breakfast, because of the nice selection of fruit, such as watermelon, galician sweet melon, kiwi, banana, pear, plum etc. The warm food area has bacon, small sausage, and crumbled eggs. Bread area has several local bread choices. Pastry area has chocolate croissant and raisin snail-like pastry. The cheese and ham area I didn't look carefully since I don't eat those in the morning. The filter coffee was good, and they also offer Nespresso. There was one type of juice, which I didn't try. Some other milk drinks and yogurts are also plenty.
Review 37:Spa treatments a little expensive
Review 38:Excellent value for money Friendly staff Very clean Excellent breakfast Lovely decor and surroundings Cafe open all day
Review 39:nothing
Review 40:The welcome from the staff on arrival. The beautiful and tastefully furnished public spaces and bedrooms. The position in relation to Santiago. It was 10 mins or less on the bus from up the road and it was so peaceful to come back after the hustle and bustle of the tourist city. The breakfast was included and was very good and we enjoyed our restaurant meal served very professionally in beautiful surroundings. We ate several times in the bar which serves decent food in an informal inside or outside setting.
Review 41:too few staff / €450 a night room then we had to pay extra to use the pool / indifferent food in the 'cafe' / poor provision of little things like hand towels (or even paper towels) in the public area toilets / big play made of the "free minibar"which made us laugh as it had two bottles of water and two bottles of orange juice in it ! / it all seemed a bit of a struggle.
Review 42:lovely room / gorgeous and comfortable sitting room / sensitive restoration
Review 43:From the very welcoming staff to the elegantly decorated room, beautiful gardens and relaxing spa, we enjoyed every bit of our stay at A Quinta Da Auga.
Review 44:Loved everything
Review 45:Fantastic spa Excellent friendly, helpful staff Small hotel Peaceful and relaxing Very quiet location on edge of Santiago. Beautiful grounds
Review 46:What can I say ...... Everything about our stay was perfect, the decor is warm and comfortable, the views onto the garden surrounds are perfect. The staff were very helpful. Would definitely go back again.
Review 47:If pressed i would say that I Wish there had been an outdoor swimming pool and somewhere to walk along the stream at the bottom of the garden
Review 48:WE loved the ambience of the hotel, the food was excellent particularly the breakfasts. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The quality of furnishings and style were very much above average

Review 79:It is an amazing please Lovely restaurant
Review 80:None
Review 81:Excellent breakfast, very helpful staff - nothing too much trouble - and all with good English speaking skills.
Review 82:The ambiance, kindness of attendances and location
Review 83:Paid parking (€15 per day) is silly for this standard of hotel!
Review 84:Very helpful sightseeing and restaurant tips
Review 85:Tranquil location. Beautifully restored characterful building. The city was easily accessible. Helpful staff. Good food.
Review 86:Beautifully appointed boutique hotel with very helpful staff. A relaxing and very comfortable room.
Review 87:I liked everything about this hotel, staff, facilities and especially the spa and the treatments.
Review 88:Staff (service level) Location; easy to get to town as well as to highways
Review 89:Price
Review 90:Location
Review 91:Location is a fairly built up area.
Review 92:Everything about the hotel is excellent, but it would be nice if there was more countryside around and a pool.
Review 93:the place, the comfort and the decoration of the whole house, helpful and nice staff, excellent breakfast
Review 94:Restaurant closed on Sunday & Monday evenings
Review 95:Tastefully converted building Excellent restaurant Welcoming front desk staff
Review 96:Everything
Review 97:Nothing not to like.
Review 98:The atmosphere, the spa, the attentive staff and the fantastic massage.
Review 99:Facilities, including the spa, excellent restaurant, service, staff. Beautiful location and presentation.
Review 100:II wasn't able to stay longer
Review 101:The riverside rustic style and decor with a tranquil spa atmosphere. The rooms were very cozy and romantic.
Review 102:Poor air conditioning in the bedroom and it was very warm at night
Review 103:The cafe and breakfast were good.
Review 104:nothing!
Review 105:staff at front desk were wonderful. so accommodating and helpful. breakfasts were incredible!
Review 106:Could lower the price of the spa or be more flexible in it use..
Review 107:The spa is overrated and they charge you 30 euros per person to get in. Very poor service there
Review 108:The place and the ambience was amazing
Review 109:The spa is wonderful. The view: the gardens around.
Review 110:The spa staff was short handed because of a holiday and my wife was unable to schedule a massage while we were there. As a hotel of this caliber I would have thought the would have more than one masseuse on staff. Not a big deal, but management should remember they are in a service industry. Just a thought and by no means a deal killer.
Review 111:What a beautiful hotel! Was originally a very large paper mill and they have done a wonderful job of utilizing the old stone structure in its current form. The water elements around the hotel are part of the original factory and add a charm and uniqueness to this delightful hotel. Our room was quiet and spacious with all the amenities of any good four star hotel.
Review 112:Nothing at all, an excellent hotel.
Review 113:Gorgeous property with great spa. Staff were outstanding - very helpful and nothing too much trouble including printing boarding cards, booking restaurants and storing our luggage for several days after our stay.
Review 114:Although with excellent service and presentation, the restaurant is not that good and thus overpriced... Overall it is an expensive stay.
Review 115:The place is really beautiful and very well kept. Staff is very good. Very good hotel for relaxing and resting.
Review 116:I find it difficult to find anything I didn't like. I wouldn't recommend it for somebody who hasn't brought a car, but it is true that taxis are readily available between Santiago and the hotel. I travelled with my wife and without my children, and I would say that while being a place that is open to all, I probably would recommend it for couples or groups of friends, and families with older children, but not so much for younger children or toddlers.
Review 117:Great attention to detail, whithout being stuffy our pretentious. One felt at home and confortable. Newspapers are available in the reception area and books in the lounge, and drinks are available in the mini bar of the room free of charge. We had dinner one night at the hotel and enjoyed it greatly. We overheard quite a few clients mentioning that they had been there before and were planning to return.
