Reviews for Hotel Dagmar
Review 1:We completely understand that we are sleeping in a very old building so we do not mind walkin up hill in the room, that the room and bathroom are tiny but what we do mind and do not understand is why there is a single size bed in the room where 2 are supposed to sleep. When after all you come to a hotel to sleep and the bed is the most important thing.
Review 2:Nice location of hotel in town centre.
Review 3:The hotel was adequate but not as clean as it could be.
Review 4:The hotel is in a great location and is Denmark's oldest hotel. The floors are classily uneven, reflecting the stability of the underlying earth. There is secure parking very close. The breakfast buffet is very good.
Review 5:Staff really need to learn people skills and smile! Stairs could be a problem for elderly or immobile people....
Review 6:Location very good - to stay in such an old hotel was quite unique ....Staff happy to carry suitcases up to our room...
Review 7:The typical Nordic duvet, with no alternatuve, even though it was a warm summer: too hot in bed! Typical of so many hotels nowadays. The olde worlde feel wasn't just a feel, especially the bathroom.
Review 8:Relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. The olde worlde feel
Review 9:Not a negative as I had read about it in advance but there is no parking by the hotel. You can either pay for parking or park on edge of old town
Review 10:Atmospheric historic hotel right in the centre of Ribe. I loved the old world charm of the building and the comfortable fittings of the room.
Review 11:Dusty room - bathroom without anywhere to put anything. Rooms facing square are very noisy if windows are open (no AC)
Review 12:Location spot on - can't get any more central.
Review 13:Room was small and shower was bad. There was nothing to eat for a small child at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast could be better.
Review 14:Location is great. Parking was easy. Room was clean. Staff was very helpful.
Review 15:The stairs were very difficult to climb and we had no help with luggage. There was a dangerous step from the bathroom into the room and the beds had a number of large useless pillows taking up much needed space. The TV also occupied desk space-it should have been mounted on the wall.
Review 16:The hotel was located in the town square opposite the Domkirke and we had an amazing view from the window of our room. The age and history of the hotel was interesting. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 17:The filthy room: bread crumbs in bed, hair in sink and bath, spider web in lamps, dirty and outward windowsills, broken door handle, broken light bulb, filthy looking floor etc.
Review 18:I didn't like anything about the hotel itself. Its location was good though.
Review 19:Wi-fi signal was weak and unreliable.
Review 20:Gorgeous old hotel - Denmark's oldest - with atmospheric rooms, perfect location on the cathedral square and delicious, substantial breakfast.
Review 21:Lots of stairs Extra bed was not done and not comfortable (Ikea cheapest sofa bed) Breakfast could be better...
Review 22:Location is top, right in the city center. Hotel is old, but full of charm.
Review 23:Small sink at an angle in bathroom, poor light in bedroom, but apart from that, nothing
Review 24:Location, service, room, restaurant food and breakfast. This hotel was a recommendation from a Danish friend, and was an excellent choice.
Review 25:No lift. Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Bathrooms in desperate need of makeover.
Review 26:Lovely old hotel, perfect location, friendly staff. fabulous breakfast
Review 27:Reception desk closed after 6.00 p.m.; restaurant closed on Sundays; the cellar restaurant had few choices, half of them were sold out, and the kitchen closed already at 9.00 p.m.!
Review 28:A historical hotel right in the city centre; lots of original paintings in the hotel; safe parking.
Review 29:The room are warm and we needed to sleep with the windows opened. Cleanliness can be improved!!!!
Review 30:The hotel is very beautiful and central. We loved the ambience and style. All the town is amazing!
Review 31:Our room was facing the street, so it was a bit noisy at night. The cost of parking (no need to reserve parking there)
Review 32:We enjoeyed very much the hotel - the oldest in Ribe and its central location.
Review 33:N/A
Review 34:Top location...very friendly staff....room was of excellent quality and great comfort..would recommend

Review 36:The atmosphere, the breakfast
Review 37:No shower gel and hair conditioner in the bathroom/
Review 38:Best place I ever stay for night.
Review 39:In a 'superior" room, but was more like a Travelodge than upmarket hotel in the block at the back
Review 40:Good location
Review 41:Good location in Ribe
Review 42:The room we had was far too small for 2 people. Should only ever be let as a single room
Review 43:The position is very good
Review 44:Poor service at breakfast time. Guests had to call several times for refill of almost everything.
Review 45:Very nice located
Review 46:Very small room. I even pay for A large room.
Review 47:Location, food
Review 48:Old fashioned
Review 49:Helpful staff
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Walk to old castel site, walk around town and dome
Review 52:No lift. No onsite parking.
Review 53:Location on the main town square was central and quiet. Updated bathroom.
Review 54:Constant noise, also during the night, from hotelventilator in our "quiet" room.
Review 55:Charming old inn.
Review 56:The whole
Review 57:Some odd wiring! Bedside light switch under the bed!
Review 58:Good location. Hotel with great character.
Review 59:The history, the charm,
Review 60:A bit expensive - breakfast wasn't all out at breakfast time and. Had an early train to cch
Review 61:Well preserved hotel and central location .
Review 62:More than 400 years old, well kept, authentic, a great experience
Review 63:Noisy bar/discotheque in the basement until 2:30 in the morning. Breakfast is very basic. Staff should be retrained, unfriendly
Review 64:Location
Review 65:Great location and a historic hotel that have been modernised without loosing its genuine feeling.
Review 66:Charming Hotel, perfect location, good breakfast
Review 67:Really nice hotel with a first class location, and very helpful staff
Review 68:High surcharge for use of credit card.
Review 69:steep and narrow stairs could do with air con
Review 70:old world charm and good food
Review 71:Beautiful
Review 72:Pokey odd shaped room
Review 73:Great location and history
Review 74:Tiny rooms with windows that flapped around in the wind when you tried to set them on the hook to be part way open. Poor breakfast selection. Price that was high for a small town.
Review 75:Bathroom was poor. No light in the shower and one of two lights in the bathroom did not work. Breakfast room was stuffy and dark with minimal staff to help / serve. Breakfast was OK, nothing special.
Review 76:Charming building and great location for visiting Ribe. Nice cafe at the front to sit and have a beer.
Review 77:Nothing! Good value and ambiance. Half and hour from the ferry (which ceases in September) 2014.
Review 78:This is a charming, if slightly down at heal hotel; The location is excellent, room comfortable and staff helpful. It is right in the centre of Ribe (a must see old town), with cafes and restaurants everywhere.Secure parking is 50 meters away. Spend the day in Ribe and visit the Viking museum.
Review 79:No shelves in bedroom for clothes and very small bath Mistake on resataurant bill with extra bottle of wine charged and reception staff didn't believe us.
Review 80:Location, old world charm and Quality of dinner
Review 81:We expected a room in the historical part of the hotel but instead wewere given a “motel” room in the Annex. To get to our room, we had to gothrough the kitchen alley, off a side street, with the garbage smells, etc. We were not pleased. The receptionist forgot to give us a parkingpass, which required me to park a good ½ mile from the hotel. I was notpleased. We went to Dinner at 9pm and all they could serve us wereNachos since the kitchen was closed. We were not pleased. We checked outearly and won’t be back to the Hotel Dagmar.
Review 82:Beautiful location right on the cathedral plaza. The rooms were lovely, the breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly. This is a lovely very old hotel and its quirks of sloping floors made it an even more enjoyable stay.
Review 83:Perfect central location, beautiful old building, very helpful, courteous and friendly staff, good breakfast, good restaurant in evening, secure - but not free - parking.
Review 84:No coffee/tea in the room. No gym facilities. Room booked wasn't assigned. Overall, a little musty and the beds are very soft.
Review 85:Great location and beautiful from the outside. Nice breakfast and lovely staff. Wifi throughout was very helpful.
Review 86:The back of the hotel rooms were a little tired. They needed bathroom updates. For the cost of the rooms...towels and soaps could have been better. Loved the bathrobes.
Review 87:The charm of such and old hotel. It has such a history and the location and rooms in the front of the hotel were very vintage with good 21st century facilities. Loved the diningroom...beautifully done and enjoyed the morning breakfast served in that room.
Review 88:No window in the breakfast room- room quite dark.
Review 89:Historic hotel, kept in the original style. Rooms were comfortable (once you got used to the tilted floors), bed was excellent and bathroom good. Wifi worked very well. Location in the center of town with view to the church.
Review 90:The hotel is in a time-warp (which is lovely in these modern times, but the bathroom could do with an update).
Review 91:Beautiful old hotel right in the middle of Ribe. Excellent restaurant / big breakfast selection. Secure parking 100 meters from hotel (though that is DKK 90.00 per night!) Lovely old town (oldest town in Denmark). The hotel is in a time-warp (which makes it quirky).
Review 92:Ribe was a very charming little town! Lovley smal restaurants and cafes! Friendly and helpfull people. Hotell Dagmar was lovley !! Peasefull, and wonderful food! We really enjoyed our stay!
Review 93:all the dinner tables were filled and there were only 2 waiters for the entire restaurant so we waited a long time for the food.
Review 94:the place was loaded with old world charm. it was very clean - pretty much spotless. it had that amazing danish cozy feeling. breakfast had a good choice of foods and dinner was amazing.
Review 95:The room had everything we needed and was well appointed,, but it and the bathroom were very small.
Review 96:Historic hotel in excellent location, close to all tourist sights and the pedestrian walk.
Review 97:No lift but could hardly expect that given it's age and happy to swap this for the character of the place.
Review 98:This is a quaint very old hotel right in the town square. It oozes charm and we loved it. The bed was comfortable and we could open the windows to cool the room.
Review 99:My wife didn't like the way the bed kept rolling away in the room... I say she just needs to learn to cope with the alone time.
Review 100:This place is hilarious, it's clearly a very old building that has become a bit slanty over the years. The floor is on all kinds of angles and our bedroom was on a funny angle that you had to walk "up" to get to the other side of the bed. Other than that Ribe is a beautiful sleepy little town in Denmark, very quiet but worth a visit for those who love cute little towns. A bit 'touristy' but that can't be helped sometimes. Worth staying here if you want to check out Ribe.
Review 101:A bit pricey for what they offer, but it may the best in town. Dinner isn't cheap and there are perfectly acceptable alternatives.
Review 102:It's a stylish old building in a very good position
Review 103:Breakfast served in the characterless function room. No one on reception after 18:00.
Review 104:Wonderful old building, our room had great views over the main square and the cathedral and was very comfortable
Review 105:- The service and food at the restaurant (dinner menu). (The service almost non existing.....2 1/2 hours to be served 2 dishes. The wine bottle was already opened when the waiter served. No choice of a glass of wine). Was definetively not worth 1000 dkr.- Worn down interior in general. - Breakfast room did not match the rest of the hotel reg. old charm (the breakfast was good anyhow). - Overrated hotel, despite location and old charm........ - "Complicated" entrance for older persons with heavy luggage. - Parking....a problem in general I think in Ribe. - The hotel has changed negatively over the years. I was here 10 and 40 years ago. -Very dominant location, famous and well known makes, unfortunately, that management does not care anymore (it seems). Tourists will come anyhow......so why bother?
Review 106:- Old charm- Location - Excellent breakfast incl. the "Lille En" (The Bitter).
Review 107:Cost of the food - nearly £30 for one course & £33 for two! Sorry, but we ate elsewhere!
Review 108:Warm, friendly welcome. Clean, spacious room. Location in the heart of the old town.
Review 109:Room for breakfast is not as charming as the rest of the hotel
Review 110:Hotel Dagmar is very well located right in the city center of Ribe. The hotel itself is a charming old building, with a view on the Ribe cathedral. When entering the hotel, you feel like visiting a historical place ! Staff was very friendly.
Review 111:Very nice staff. I think that they earn a better review than they have on your site. The only problem is that it is such an old building that the shower is without water presure. the breakfast is good but could have a little bit more choices. I
Review 112:Collection of several large trolley crates of empty beer and wine bottles at 04.20 Hrs in the morning which must have worken every guest from their slumbers
Review 113:Hotel Dagmar is one of the oldest hotels in Denmark, in one of the oldest towns in Denmark (founded by the Vikings) in the oldest Kingdom in the world !
Review 114:The desk is not staffed over night, which could be a problem for some.Early departures mean checking out and settling up before 6pm the daybefore. The thing that irritated me the most was a little thing. Theroom keys are anchored with a huge weight, to prevent one fromaccidentally taking it home. I left mine with the desk while I walkedaround. There was no one actually at the desk when I left, so I put thekey on the desk, and left. When I returned, the key was not on its hookbut still there on the desk where I'd left it. I would expect betterkey management from a hotel of that quality.
Review 115:The restaurant is excellent. Their current chef is half Dane and halfFrench and comes from a family in the business. The food wasinteresting, tasty, and well-presented in at least two or threelanguages. The room I had was pleasant with a former window, a nice sitting area and a three-piece bath. Robe and slippers provided as was a welcome packet of Hotel Dagmar liquorice. A welcome package of wine and snacks might have been extra; I didn't ask.
Review 116:Danish food is a little hearty for some and vegetarians should check first what options are available if they intend a long stay, neither of these comments are good reasons not to stay at this excellent establishment.
Review 117:Anyone intending exploring Denmark beyond the capital city should consider this hotel, though bear in mind it is a historic building, so access might be a problem for the less able. From the moment you enter the building you will be captivated by its charm and welcomed by the attentive staff. The rooms are well furnished and offer as good a range of facilities as can be accommodated in the space. The location is outstanding.
Review 118:Your problem is service, it is simply not there. We wanted to get adrink before dinner. We asked a passing by waitress for it. We wentdownstairs to the bar to ask. Eventually we asked for it at thereception. It took 25min before we got it. In the restaurant after maincourse no one attended to us for 1 hour to offer coffee or desert. Atthe end of that time my wife went into the kitchen and asked for it. Wecame to the restaurant at 19:30. Coffee got served at 22:45. That'sis too long for just a main course and coffee. Also, the shower was dirty. Hair in the shower drain left from the previous customer. Maybe worth while to change your pillows. They were small and felt old. You could feel lumps inside. Maybe we got wrong pillows as they were sitting in very big pillow cases, much, much bigger then the pillows themselves.
Review 119:Coming from Australia we had enjoyed location, old age of the building, history that came with it etc. Very unique experience simply notavailable in my country. The food in the restaurant was fantastic.
Review 120:There was a large festival going on, so it was very noisy at night. This had nothing to do with the hotel, but as it is located in the center of Ribe, it was very loud that night. I do not think this is the norm for this area.
Review 121:The hotel has a wonderful old-time charm. It is apparently the oldest hotel in Denmark? The breakfast in the morning was tasty.
Review 122:Ribe is one of the oldest towns in Denmark, the night watchman walkis excellent and informative taking you through lovely old streetsand buildings and explaining their history without too muchinformation. V good
Review 123:I liked everything - the atmosphere, location, feeling that you are in the heart of old and very cozy city. Breakfast was very nice - with freshly baked bread. And the staff was very friendly.
Review 124:Missing heating in the bathroom
Review 125:Known and used the hotel in the far past, and still find it a very cosy place to enjoy an excelent dinner an stay overnight
Review 126:No tea making facilities in the room. Noise from the local disco until the early hours of the morning
Review 127:Central location
Review 128:Wonderful location and historic building
Review 129:The location. The character of the hotel itself. Lovely breakfasts. Very helpful and friendly staff.
