Reviews for Hotel Molino del Agueda

Review 1:Difficult to find the road for the hotel even though we could see the hotel from the main road, they could solve this problem by using the same direction sign as the other hotels.

Review 2:Although we had booked for Christmas eve they were very attentive considering we arrived when they were entertaining family and friends.

Review 3:the only downside was the bar is no longer operational. As we were a little out of town there was nowhere to have a drink before dinner. A bar type meal can be obtained at the small cafe next door which didn't open until 8pm.

Review 4:situated right on the river a little way out of town in a rural setting, it was very tranquil. breakfast was free and adequate. very reasonable rate. The proprietress spoke no english but did her best, and was very friendly.

Review 5:The only complaint I have is that I didn't realise that the hotel only took cash payments on the morning of my departure. So I had to go to the bank to get some cash before I left

Review 6:Shower only and black mould in grouting. Tricky to find with the SatNav. No evening meal but town has restaurants and there is small one next door.

Review 7:Quiet location. View from bedroom window in the mill looking upstream.

Review 8:It was not easy to find out the hotel. The actual location of the Hotel was different that of the address stated in Booking.com even though I updated my GPS few days ago.

Review 9:Location was lovely. Staff was kind. Room was very warm. The castle nearyby was fantastic.

Review 10:Breakfast could do with a little more imagination, with some eggs.

Review 11:Good value for money, very secluded location next to the river. Short walk to the historic town with nice restaurants and bars. Clean comfortable. It needs to be borne in mind that Ciudad Rodrigo is not on the map for the majority of tourists, it is a speciality for a few and as a result is largely unspoilt

Review 12:Everything particularly the location and modern installations in an old renovated building.

Review 13:Plastic mattress cover on bed.

Review 14:Building, view of river from bedroom, Easy parking. Cleanliness.

Review 15:No butter at breakfast!!

Review 16:Stunning view of river & Town from hotel & room, excellent room & bathroom, brilliant value for money.

Review 17:Great place to relax. Staff were very friendly. Easy Walking distance to town.not

Review 18:The water in the shower wasn't realy hot.

Review 19:The view over the river.

Review 20:Unconfortable beds. Hard to find the place if you travel by night.

Review 21:Location. Sightseeing. Clean rooms and common spaces.

Review 22:Good location, but a bit hard to find. Nice & quiet.

Review 23:qiteness

Review 24:What's not to like?

Review 25:Old town ramparts Tranquility

Review 26:Breakfast was rather minimal.

Review 27:Lovely views over lake and comfortable rooms. Easy drive from main road and plenty of parking. 10 minute walk to town. Cafe next door very handy for snacks.

Review 28:The atmosphere and the beautiful surroundings, parking facilities, friendly staff (applies also to the adjacent bar). Attractive walking trail from there to the village, along the riverside.

Review 29:Difficult to find because it is located out of town. Very poor signage. Breakfast ordinary.

Review 30:Spacious room. Good wifi. Quiet - good sleeping. Free car parking.

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:Very friendly reception staff. The simple, tasteful decor. Good breakfast. Ideal location - easy to find and within easy walking distance of the town.

Review 33:No hot water during our stay, only warm hard to find, no hotel signs onmain road.

Review 34:Good parking, close to city center, cafe was closed (nov)breakfast was good

Review 35:difficult to find satnav even got it wrong. not signposted well needs comfortable chairs oin bedroom. bit cold be nice to have English programmes on the tv no restaurant except for a poor breakfast

Review 36:Historic lovely view from our window

Review 37:The young cleaner was not thorough. Our bathroom sink was not cleaned either day and she folded towels which were damp.( We had left them drying on chairs as there was only one hook in the bathroom). There was no bidet..in a three star hotel? Also no lounge really..it was part of the dining area. The electrics were a bit unreliable..the lift doors closed on me one time, but nothing else worked for a couple of frightening minutes. The cafe didnt open till 6pm and only offered drinks and sandwiches. The grounds were scruffy and litter-strewn. There was no garden.

Review 38:The hotel is in a beautiful spot over the smooth river which gurgles below. The room was quite spacious. The breakfast was good. The owner (female) was friendly and her son was helpful and pleasant.

Review 39:apart from breakfast there was no other food available. It was a good 20 minute walk to the village so not that easy to find somewhere to eat. There is a cafeteria at the mill but they only stocked crisps. To make this Hotel work they need to rethink and provided at least some tapas.

Review 40:Beautifully restored mill, incredible views. good breakfast. spotlessly clean. Definitely had the WOW factor when you walked in. Lack of food spoilt it all.

Review 41:Breakfast was minimal but ok considering the overall price. They seem to have scaled down as a result of the financial crisis.

Review 42:This hotel is well placed to break my trip from Lisbon to Santander/Bilbao. It is extremely quiet and secure with good parking. It represents superb value.

Review 43:The beds were a little hard and uncomfortable

Review 44:Proximity to our route making it good for an overnight stop and close to the interesting city of Cuidad Rodrigo. The view from our bedroom window

Review 45:Hotel's 'cafe' was very basic - maybe we were out of season in mid-Sept.

Review 46:Excellent value for money - excellent location - if you only want good accommodation, no frills - it's all you need.

Review 47:Proprietors could be more welcoming, and a shame there is no restaurant on site, as this meant a journey into Ciudad Rodrigo to eat in the evening

Review 48:Great location, and nice clean rooms. Lovely to sit outside with views of water on 3 sides of the hotel

Review 49:The outside appearance of the hotel is a little off-putting. When we arrived we thought it was closed! But inside is nicely renovated and very comfortable.

Review 50:Extremely cheap, lovely setting overlooking the river, extremely generous breakfast included in the price. Rooms of good standard and size.

Review 51:The room was not clean, and it didn´t have any confort. The shower didnot work properly.

Review 52:The view from the window. The location. The breakfast service wasmedium.

Review 53:No Food available other than the continental breakfast. Bar and outsideseating no longer existed. Outside areas neglected and gardensovergrown. I hope they get their act together as it is such a perfectstopover location.

Review 54:This is the third year we have used this hotel as a stopover en routefrom Santander to the Algarve. Ideally situated close to main highwayswith ample off road parking. Lovely location on river and close to smalltown. Sadly this time the hotel was looking run down and the owners hadclosed off the bar and dining room. The breakfast tables had beensqueezed into the lounge/bar. We were looking forward to sitting outsidewith a stiff gin and tonic after our long journey as we remembered fromour last stay. Unfortunately tables and chairs outside had been removed. It would seem that business must be suffering due to the recession! NoEnglish spoken so it was difficult to express our concerns to theproprietors.

Review 55:In our room there were hairs on the floor throughout, including the bath and on the bed sheet, (the sheets were otherwise clean). Breakfast equipment/utensils was covered by a sheet during the day and I had to remove a dead ant from a saucer. It seemed as if we were the first guests at the start of the season with little cleaning taking place before hand. Generally a neglected feel to the hotel which is a pity as it could/should be stunning given its location.

Review 56:The location is very peaceful, being just a short walk along the river and up to the town center, (20 minutes). Great view from our room.

Review 57:No restaurant and remember Spanish restaurants dont open until at least 8pm. After a 7 hour drive with little food we would have liked to eat in the hotel, Coffe shop was advertised but didnt seem to be open?? Breakfast was all pre packed items. Staff were not friendly, our Spanish is very sparse, but made no conversation with any of the guests...who were all Spanish!! We run our own accomodation in Portugal so are used to dealing with all nationalities, hopefully we do better.

Review 58:Wonderful setting, very close to motorway and Portugese border but in the countryside so lovely and quiet. Lovely room and view.

Review 59:I would pay more for a better breakfast.

Review 60:The location is quiet and very convenient for breaking my journey fromLisbon to Bilao/Santander and has good and reasonably secure parking,

Review 61:Road access not obvious Bathroom needs full clean General air of neglect though some refurbishments underway inside

Review 62:Location for walls of Ciudad Rodrigo and natural peaceful setting Once lovely period property

Review 63:It was a bit difficult to find and a little more signage would be useful. We arrived after a long drive to find that no food was served in the cafeteria - only coffee. Not indicated on website entry. Staff were a bit preoccupied and scatty and it was a shame to spoil the effect of lovely building; well renovated by having and unpainted entrance gate (not like website pic) and dead tree in pot outside entrance to reception. Cafeteria terrace gave on to various debris associated with building work and the quality of the breakfast was poor. Need to buy proper Spanish bread and better jam etc:

Review 64:The location is lovely - right on the river and the glass floor in the cafeteria allows you to see the water flowing under the building. The room was large with good antique style furniture and views toward Ciudad Rodrigo were superb. Interesting to watch cormorants fishing and various other birdlife.

Review 65:Map provided was very poor... Showing no roads leading to the hotelitself. Address was incomplete as there are 2 such addresses inCuidad Rodrigo.

Review 66:Very pretty building... Sparse but comfortable room.

Review 67:A bit far from centre of village

Review 68:lovely views, very quiet. Friendly and helpful staff Good breakfast good parking

Review 69:Time it took for shower to warm up.

Review 70:The setting and a beautiful building.

Review 71:no restaurant on site

Review 72:Great view of the river, clean, warm confortable bed

Review 73:a quiet location but walkable to historic town centre, g great mill conversion/building

Review 74:Breakfast not good

Review 75:Location

Review 76:It's convenient location

Review 77:The security lights were too bright and were in our eyes all night.

Review 78:Location and view

Review 79:The location was totally detached from the town. Rooms very sparse and poor breakfast.

Review 80:Peaceful and attractive location on the river a short walk from the walled city of Ciudad Rodrigo.

Review 81:The surrounding natural area.

Review 82:Rooms needed to be soundproofed, especially the bathroms.

Review 83:Location was very good by the water. Parking good.Rooms good.

Review 84:Off the main path, but beautiful once you get there. Very quiet, good breakfast.
