Reviews for Parador de Sos del Rey Católico
Review 1:Parking was limited and there was a surcharge, most unwelcome, to use the hotel's spaces. Given the hotel is in a small rural town, this was a surprise. No breakfast option other than a full buffet so coffee and a croissant was not available.
Review 2:Good location to see the historical sites. The birthplace of King Ferdinand was an event. The evening dinner in the restaurant was excellent quality and value. Room was comfortable.
Review 3:A bit disappointed by the set dinner. Huge servings, not often we can't finish what we are given, but got the impression the staff were just going through the motions.
Review 4:Impressive hotel on the edge of the pretty hill town, very comfortable.
Review 5:Beautiful setting for a hotel with spectacular mountain views. Very quaint 13th century village with excellent food. Very comfortable room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice bar and restaurant with lovely food.
Review 6:We had a lovely meal in the restaurant on our first night. On the second night the food was cold and when we pointed it out to the waitress it was taken away and just warmed up and our plates and portions were mixed up. I can only think that the food was warmed up in a microwave and put back onto cold plates. After the dessert we sat waiting to be offered coffee but to no avail so we left the restaurant. Not such a good experience as the first night. On our third night we found a lovely restaurant in the village.
Review 7:The lovely location and the fact that we had a balcony overlooking the mountains.
Review 8:Air con not working in the suite and booking was not right first time.
Review 9:The hotel was good but would have been better had the hotel got our booking right first time and the air con have worked. Sos was fantastic everything we expected.
Review 10:Perhaps the village lacked atmosphere in the evening although we were not bothered because it was restful for a one night stay.
Review 11:Friendly welcome in a beautiful setting with easy access and good parking. Pretty village . Beautiful views.
Review 12:Unmotivated and not professional Service. The building is new and not like in other pardores restaurated old buildings.
Review 13:The little town is really beatyful. Nixe Bars and Little Restaurants. The views are spectacular
Review 14:Wish it had a swimming pool as it's so hot and sunny. Breakfast price is ridiculous so will avoid and after an evening meal in the restaurant superfluous.
Review 15:Amazing location, beautiful purpose built hotel. Comfortable rooms with beautiful views from window on 6th floor esp room 604. Grand: a special place to stay. Very good evening meal with local meats. Make sure you are hungry first as their is loads. Helpful and kind reception staff and manager.
Review 16:Dinner waitress rather grumpy. Air con useless, we slept with the windows wide open so it was fine but in other weather conditions this might not be possible
Review 17:Lovely entrance area and great views. Our balcony was great.
Review 18:Dinner. If you want to eat well, skip the half board. The starter was OK. The main dish (choice of 3), was trout. Imagine to get a pie form with a fillet of some kind of fish ( was it trout?), on the perifery, stuffed with peppers...This is not the image I have with "trout" as a main dish. The public was mostly 55+ spanish who go for the discount. A "no cellular" sign would be helpfull. Breakfast is no more as a faint shadow of the buffet I remember from 5 years ago. Not worth the money.
Review 19:The room with balcony. Immaculately clean. Thanks Tina! The cleaning lady left her calling card! Bed exellent. Only super-tech airco.. Some idiot decided that airco's can stop in the middle of the night... So I have to get up to set it to -5 to restart it..
Review 20:The portions offered for the evening meal were too large for us. We could easily have shared each course. We chose to eat at a restaurant in the village the second night we stayed.
Review 21:The surroundings were lovely. The village was well worth the stopover in itself.
Review 22:We believed we were booking a hotel in the city of Zaragoza and not the region of Zaragoza. The website is misleading and the hotel is a two hour drive from Zaragoza city. When we arrived we were told by reception that this was not an isolated occurrence. The Booking. com website is at fault and thoroughly spoiled our trip. We tried to cancel but received no sympathy from Parador. Has put me off using you in future.
Review 23:Only Parador we had issues trying to make the air-conditioning work?
Review 24:Classic Parador sat high on the hill side offering spectacular views out across the surrounding area. Plenty of parking at the hotel. Lovely rooms with balconies looking out. worth the trip to the bar to sit and watch the sunset. Restaurant offered lovely food and service was great. Free wifi in most places and a games room to while away the evening.
Review 25:The location of the Hotel is great. Right on the edge of the village with it's own car park. Staff very helpful. The hotel has a restaurant / bar with great views looking over the mountains. The village itself is stunning with tiny streets and historic buildings, together with a handful of nice places to eat and drink.
Review 26:We loved walking around the village and discovering this place that we knew nothing about before our arrival. Sos del Rey Catolico is a match for the likes of Carcassonne in France and better for not being so obviously a tourist destination.
Review 27:Meals excellent but the breakfast coffee in all the paradors we have stayed in is not up to the standard of a 4 star hotel
Review 28:Interesting location and lovely views Staff very helpful
Review 29:The guy on reception was not warm and welcoming. One could hear every little scrape of furniture in the room above and next door. There was not enough space in the room, they had put a table and chairs in there, which clogged up moving around space.
Review 30:Wonderful views. Meal excellent, we had half board. Head waiter in the restaurant was excellent
Review 31:The Parador is a very beautiful historical building. It offers a great view to the surrounding mountainside. The restaurant offers regional specialities in excellent quality.
Review 32:Thoughtless people who were in the room above dragging moving / furniture around the room until 1am kept us awake both nights
Review 33:Location decor and building
Review 34:Hotel in an old monastery frame. Lovely countryside setting at the bottom of a hill that holds a medieval village. Good dining room. Good value. The morning birdsong is memorable.
Review 35:The dinner we had was definitely the very worst we experienced on our six week tour around Europe. This hotel has everthing going for it, except a Chef.
Review 36:A splendid Parador with comfortable and well appointed rooms and friendly and most helpful staff. Very good safe garage parking for the car. Pity about the food.
Review 37:The views from the hotel were amazing and it was the best food we had eaten in a fortnight
Review 38:Parking not close enough
Review 39:Views, restaurant, bathroom, bed
Review 40:Parking is awkward and suitcases don't drag on your terrain
Review 41:Excellent staff and great location. Good food with excellent breakfast
Review 42:This was a Parador which was quiet with wonderful views, good food and in a lovely location. The staff were all friendly.
Review 43:Views, spaciousness of room (superior)and public areas
Review 44:Attentive staff, good food
Review 45:The village was beautiful with amazing views and there was also a lovely terrace to enjoy a drink
Review 46:Wonderful situation with spectacular views. Were able to upgrade to a junior suite. Cuisine excellent
Review 47:The staff. They did not acknowledge us and we're unfriendly.
Review 48:Location was great.
Review 49:Nothing
Review 50:Location and history of Sos del Rey.

Review 52:When we arrived access hindered by sharing on beach street.
Review 53:Great value for money an obliged us with a family room for 4. Very spacious room as well.
Review 54:Expensive dinner compared to other options in the same location
Review 55:Pleasant lounges and terraces. Nicely decorated, good hotel.
Review 56:Everything was fine.
Review 57:Good overnight stopping place for 'trans-Spain' car trip. Fascinating village.
Review 58:Beautiful accommodation peaceful break
Review 59:Amazing location, fantastic views. Friendly staff
Review 60:Nearly everything else.
Review 61:Location
Review 62:The isolation, tranquillity and the lovely medieval setting.
Review 63:Room, view and location
Review 64:Views from the room were stunning. Hilltop village worth exploring.
Review 65:Poor value fo money with 10% added
Review 66:Clean
Review 67:The building the views the food all excellent
Review 68:Bit too remote from the places of interest surrounding it
Review 69:First class destination resort
Review 70:This is a restful and very well appointed hotel with great views and a good restaurant. Not cheap, but nevertheless good value.
Review 71:Location with magnificent view in a medieval town. Excellent food and wine.We spent good moments there
Review 72:Excellect location within city walls, good food
Review 73:The superior room with balcony and viewThe excellent 23 Euro all inclusive menu - interesting food and great value for money
Review 74:Evening meal disappointing.
Review 75:Location, hotel
Review 76:Excellent overnight stay - very comfortable room & we enjoyed a lovely meal with good food & wine.
Review 77:Access on arrival - it was difficult to drag bags up driveway over cobblestones from car park to hotel.
Review 78:Location to village, outlook, views from our room over the countryside. Beautiful building with a luxury feel. Plenty of relaxation areas including lounge & games rooms. Great terrace area with expansive views for pre-dinner drinks etc. Good choices for the continental breakfast.
Review 79:The poor job Booking.com does in explaining that the impression that thehotel was Zaragoza based is not correct...we learned after 1 hour offrustrating and dangerous city driving that the parador was 70 plusmiles away
Review 80:Lovely parador..all one could wish for
Review 81:I never take breakfast in a Parador, it is very over priced, plus the food that should be hot, never is.
Review 82:The location. The history of the town/village the Parador is situated in.
Review 83:We could hear highway noise, but it was not a big problem for us...worth it to have the terrace and view.
Review 84:Romantic setting in the old town walls, views from terrace at sunset, great dinner and breakfast buffet, easy in and out and ample parking. With a superior room, they chilled the champagne twice when they cleaned the room because we didn't drink it the first night.
Review 85:We stayed for 5 nights & were disappointed that the set menu in the evening never changed (al a carte was expensive). After speaking to the Manager about this every effort was made to make our last meal there memorable. We were not disappointed & were able to choose whatever we liked from the a la carte menu.
Review 86:Beautiful parador, clean & spacious with very friendly staff. Views are superb & plenty of parking. The village of SOS is definitely worth visiting especially the San Esteban Church & it's Crypt. Good base for a few days to visit surrounding areas. Restaurant food very good & excellent choice for breakfast.
Review 87:couldn't get the air con to work properly
Review 88:lovely hotel in a great location large clean room quiet for a great nights sleep restaurant and bar on site heritage medieval village
Review 89:Paradores charge too much for breakfast.
Review 90:Spectacular location on top of the hill in the old part of town. Easy access to a few bars and restaurants. Secure parking.
Review 91:Surprisingly, although there was space for one, there was no pool, not even a spa type indoor one. Maybe it's deliberate as they don't want to encourage people to swim? There was a shaded balcony type terrace with tables and upright chairs, but it was not at ground level and it was attached to the dining room. An area of water/pond with some loungers and umbrellas round it where one could sit and read would have been welcome.
Review 92:Everything. The hotel was exceptionally luxurious with huge rooms (we were upgraded to a junior suite at a very small extra cost - well worth it), spotlessly clean with very pleasant and helpful staff. This is the place to go if you want total quiet and relaxation.
Review 93:Restaurant was disappointing- no separate veggie menu. Shower screen not large enough, but otherwise bathroom great.
Review 94:We loved our room, and sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down. Would definitely come back here.
Review 95:Location requires 3/4 mile drive for town centre, but. nothing really special there to see or do..
Review 96:This Parador is miles from any other civilisation. All Parador facilities excellent. A great hiking and mountain viewing base..
Review 97:Good parking. Lovely bathroom and bedroom with excellent view from the terrace. Easy access to the village with local bars and a few restaurants. The set menu was very good value in the hotel restaurant.
Review 98:Difficult access by public transportation
Review 99:The Parador is excellent. Staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable with an impressive view of the mountains. Enjoyed my stay one hundred per cent.
Review 100:The atmosphere, the views, the room, the service--we like everythingabout the Parador at Sos del Rey Catolico. Best, though, to watch thesunset or a full moon from the terrace, while having a drink beforesinneror a coffee afterward.
Review 101:It is a bit isolated. The village occupies about half a day to explore. Then what? the journey into the mountains to the North is worthwhile but lengthy. Even the trip to the 5 historic neighbouring castles is a lengthy drive for someone interested in Aragon history.
Review 102:Fantastic feeling of being away from it all, in an historic area, not typical of most impressions of Spain. The Hotel is quite beautiful and you would think that it was all genuinely historic and not built more recently. Very calm and quietly comfortable. Beautiful countryside to the North at Anso and Hecho.
Review 103:Room service menu quite formal and limited
Review 104:Good spacious room with decent balcony, good views from the balcony, clean and spacious bathroom, nice restaurant and cafe, ample carpark space
Review 105:The restaurant is one of the poorest I've ever eaten in. Very expensive and not worthy of that quality of hotel.
Review 106:Fantastic situation on the hilltop. Amazing building with a stunning bar terrace for drinks and snacks. The breakfast is fantastic, anything and everything you could wish. After eating in the morning it kept us going all day. The snacks on the terrace are very good, better than the restaurant.
Review 107:The room is not large enough. There is no family room (it cannot be helped), so we had to stay in two rooms.
Review 108:Located in the very historical city with the medieval atmosphere. Clean room, and good facilities.
Review 109:Three of our choices from the menu were not available on the second day despite dining early by Spanish standards. Disappointing and not what we had expected!
Review 110:It is a very relaxing hotel in a quiet area with a pleasant dining room and sitting areas. The choice, presentation and quality of the food were excellent on the first night which pleased us. We had chosen half board for our two day stay based on positive comments by previous guests. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Review 111:This is the third time my wife and I have stayed at this Parador and yetagain it did not disappoint. The location is lovely, Sos is a very oldand picturesque little town, excellent views from the rooms. Rooms verycomfortable and spotlessly clean as you would expect. Service in the barand restaurant is excellent as is the quality of the food and wine. Allreception staff speak excellent English as do most of the bar andrestaurant staff. Any staff that are not fluent do try hard and are morethan a match for my feeble attempts at the Spanish language. All staffare friendly and helpful.
Review 112:The hotel certainly lived up to the high standard of the Parador Group. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The room was comfortable andvery nice with view over the country side. Excellent location toexplore the small historic town of Sos del Rey Catolico. Parking wasfree and easy.
Review 113:Bar prices are very high
Review 114:Excellent Hotel, thoroughly recommended.
Review 115:Having to leave
Review 116:Absolutely everything.
Review 117:Spanish siesta time, restaurant open too late in evening.
Review 118:Beautiful location. Place for calm down.
Review 119:A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location.
