Reviews for Maciá Alfaros

Review 1:Beautiful facilities, outstanding staff. The staff are excellent, the rooms spacious and super-clean. An easy walk down to the Mezquita and old town. A great deal.

Review 2:It is impossible to communicate with them by phone. Called several times and never picked up the phone

Review 3:The architecture is beautiful It is pretty well located, near to the train station and also to the downtown

Review 4:The bar is soulless and the hotel is need of refurbishment. The parking is expensive. It purports to be a 4* hotel but in reality is a 3* at best.

Review 5:The hotel is perfectly situated for all the sites and is warm and comfortable and there is on site parking. The hotel would be good value as a 3*.

Review 6:I could not watch the TV. The images and sound got interrupted every 5-10 seconds. I did not manage to put the heating on. There were no towels in the bathroom for the second day.

Review 7:I liked the location and the snack at the café.

Review 8:Buffet breakfast didn't have a very good choice of cold meats and cheeses on the serving table. Later discovered that the items were tucked away in the far corner of the restaurant from the serving table!

Review 9:The hotel is in need of some refurbishing. Tiny swimming pool, just for decoration. Really poor value for the money. Much nicer smaller hotels around with more charm for the same price or less.

Review 10:Not a 15 min. Walk to Alcazar & Mezquita, closer to 35 minutes.Hotel was almost empty but the view from my room was only the windows ofanother room.Very thin walls with people coming in and out at 2 am. Alsothey jacked me up on laundry. Gave them 3 t-shirts, socks etc. (Maybe2/3 of one wash load) to wash and dry. No dry cleaning or pressing. They charged me 37.50 euro. I told them that it was outrageouslyexpensive and their attitude was "tough"

Review 11:Room and staff were generally ok.

Review 12:Kettle and coffee/tea were missing from the basic room amenities which is quite disappointing from a 4-star hotel. The gym (only 3 cardio equipment) and the outdoor pool were only open from 10:00 am which is not ideal if you like to have a morning workout before you go out for sightseeing. Overall we found the hotel slightly overpriced.

Review 13:Hotel location is great! It is 15-20 mins walk from the city centre. It has got an own underground car park which is a great advantage in Andalucía! The hotel room was spacious, quiet and clean!

Review 14:- air conditioning was poor and I had to go to reception to ask them to fix it and even then it wasn't working well until around 11pm. Then the ac dropped out again in the morning so maybe it's on a timer. - carpet was marked and stained. - the bed didn't come with a blanket we had to take them out of the cupboard - they forgot to put an extra bed in one room but they did rectify this within 2 hours - the door to our room wasn't working properly. The manager came thinking we were just being dumb but even he couldn't open the door from the inside. Eventually he sent someone to look at it but it didn't get fixed you had to move the door handle around. - none of the staff spoke fluent English so make sure you have a translator app with you. - they have a long check in procedure. Every guest has to sign a piece of paper.

Review 15:Room was fairly clean.

Review 16:Pool seemed a bit murky and the room smelt like cigarettes (as we forgot to request a non smoking room)

Review 17:Parking on site made it so much easier, we could leave our car there as long as we wanted after check out. Staff were so helpful, porter gave us a tour of the hotel whilst showing us to our room which was lovely. Bar and restaurant downstairs were always attended. Room service was cheap very central location and easy to get to by car.

Review 18:Nothing was terrible, but for us the negatives were: A bit far from main attractions with small kids, but not too bad; one day there were no clean pool towels for about an hour; triple room was pretty small, fitted the three beds and that was it. had to stow stroller in the bathroom. Also "ground floor" room requested still required lift.

Review 19:Parking on site was handy; good tabernas that weren't too touristy close by; swimming pool would have been perfect in summer, but not really needed in late Sept (temps in low 30s), pool water was almost cold at 5pm.

Review 20:Nothing bad to say about this hotel

Review 21:Very close to town centre Very nice swimming pool and relaxation space Very friendly receptionist Private parking (not cheap but worth the cost)

Review 22:The pool needs a few more sunbeds. Empty dishes at breakfast were not filled fast enough. Our room was a little tired for the money paid.

Review 23:The location with ease of access to the centre on foot. The underground secure parking.

Review 24:the car park was very tight when you have a big car.

Review 25:I liked the location, it was 10 minutes walk to the main hub, shops, restaurants.THe room was clean and functional, for 3 it was a bit tight but nothing bad.The bathroom was big. There was a fridge and a safe in the room,( have to pay for safe, didn't like that) but oh well we still had one. THe staff at reception was pleasant , we didn't use the bar or the restaurant so don't have an opinion there. The pool was very cold but nice and the area around it had lounging chairs and it was very clean. I would recommend that hotel.

Review 26:Car parking was quite expensive but not prohibitive. The car park itself was underground and with quite tight access, parking could be difficult if full.

Review 27:The staff were very friendly and helpful particularly in the bar. The lounge areas were very comfortable.

Review 28:The bathroom had a fairly strong sewage smell when we arrived. Although this seems to be a common issue around Cordoba.

Review 29:The staff were friendly and spoke english well. The location was central enough without being too noisy. The soundproofing of the windows was excellent.

Review 30:Staff weren't very friendly or helpful. Rooms were not soundproof. Overpriced compared to other places we stayed in Andalucia.

Review 31:Good location. Clean.

Review 32:Staff were totally rude and not friendly, avoided to even ask them about anything. The facility is old and I would definitely choose something else if I go there again. Parking is expensive I don't understand why! Oh, and their breakfast is horrible, too limited, not tasty and when we tried to order omlettes, they looked us as we came from another planet!

Review 33:Location was alright, half a mile walk to city center and the mesquita.

Review 34:The room was dark and depressing. No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Even a charge and deposit for use for the safety deposit box Breakfast was poor and on the second day an Elizbwth Arden conference was on site so there were no tables, long wait to be seated, insufficient food and an even longer queue for tea and coffe. Staff could not cope and it was totally unfair on other guests. The car park was difficult to negotiate as was the staircase to access the lifts to enter the growl. Totally unsuitable for elderly guests or,those with heavy luggage.

Review 35:Not very much, apart from the location

Review 36:some items of the breakfast on second morning could have been fresher

Review 37:excellent room ,lovely pool, friendly staff and good location . Not too big .Stayed two nights and wished we had booked for a further night.

Review 38:Room had view of a wall. A view of the courtyard would have been nicer.

Review 39:Lovely pool in courtyard setting. Central location with car parking. Friendly staff.

Review 40:the swimming pool is tiny....you can kind of see in the pictures and it is really small.

Review 41:location fantastic, parking for car a plus although very expensive

Review 42:As advised by other travelers, we asked for a room on the upper floors away from the street when making our reservation. They honored this request without our having to ask at check-in and though the view wasn't great, we had a very restful night. The staff was very helpful in taking time to show us, on a map, how to get to the things we wished to visit and suggested sites of interest themselves. Their tapas restaurant suggestions were wonderful!

Review 43:Queued 30 mins for check in with only one person serving. A second assistant turned up and the other one immediately left. Poor. Car park is functional although not for nervous people or those with larger cars.

Review 44:Pool Area and Location were good.

Review 45:We only stayed over the weekend and needed to do laundry, unfortunately there was no laundry on the weekends.

Review 46:The room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was huge. Great pool and breakfast - we throughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 47:Asked for a quiet room, got one beside the pool toilets so could hear every flush and door bang. Same applied to usage of toilets/ showers in other rooms, clearly audible.

Review 48:Shower in the bathroom was annoying. Breakfast was average compared to rest of stay.

Review 49:Beds were excellent and the pool an added bonus. Ask for a quiet room off the street.

Review 50:We came back to the hotel at 10.30 pm after a very long day out and went to the bar for a drink, the bar had two tables of two people and one table of 6 and when we went to the bar the barman put his hand up and shouted you will have to wait ten minutes and walked off. He was on his own and seemed to be serving food to the table of 6. There was another couple who had also been told to wait. We waited over ten minutes and we're still not acknowledged so promptly left the bar. I did let reception know with the thought that they may send another person to serve in the bar but this was not done. I understand busy, but I have worked in bars and this was not that busy! And in the service industry you should always be polite to customers no matter what is going on!

Review 51:There is an underground car park right next to the hotel with a lift to reception which was very easy on arrival. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all attractions. The breakfast was good and the room comfortable.

Review 52:The shower needs supervision. Room 116

Review 53:Good location. The price/quality was excellent but I suppose not many travellers go to Cordoba in this extremely hot season. Staff very friendly. I recommend this hotel.

Review 54:The bar was not that welcoming in how it was laid out and could have been a lot better laid out. Good staff though.

Review 55:Very good hotel with friendly and very helpful staff in a great location.

Review 56:The hotel is about a 12-minute walk from Mezquita, the main attraction of Cordoba.

Review 57:The hotel offers underground parking - roo can be reached from the parking by elevator. A nice feature for a city hotel. Excellent breakfast, English speaking staff.

Review 58:Cost of car parking

Review 59:Pool was useful as temperatures were high. Underground car park vital as in street facilities almost non existent. Not cheap to use though.

Review 60:Facilities scattered all over the hotel requiring guests to traverse varies bedroom corridors to get to the facility they want.

Review 61:Good wifi, comfortable room, about 1K walk to the centre. Very easy access by car. You exit onto a different street to the one you enter so be prepared.

Review 62:With every thing good and comfortable. There is nothing not liked.

Review 63:First impression of the place is excellent. Professional staffs dedicated to their responsibilities.

Review 64:Lack of staff in bar area, waiting ten minutes for service, other people walking out. Being asked to pay a deposit plus a daily rate of €1.25 a day to use the safe. Lower rated hotel previously stayed at no charge was made.

Review 65:Central position, good breakfast, friendly staff.

Review 66:Arrogance of some catering staff. Difficulty controlling AC temperature. Noise from cars on adjacent small cobbled road. Near impossible access to car park. Very average breakfast.

Review 67:Location. 15 min walk to important sites in old city. Pool

Review 68:Abit of noise with abit of maintenance work that echoed in through window.

Review 69:The location was great , just a short walk to the main old town with shops and restaurants and not too far from the main bridge which is spectacular at night and close to La Mezquita . Wifi was good .. Room spacious and clean , bed was comfy :)

Review 70:Room was big enough but with a small window. The road outsize was narrow so there was some traffic noise but certainly not enough to spoil our sleep

Review 71:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. Pool area was surprisingly nice. Wifi was excellent. Good value.

Review 72:We stayed in the newer part of the hotel which was quiet and comfortable and quite worth the money we paid to stay there. The staff was friendly and the hotel was only a few minutes away from all the things we wanted to do.

Review 73:Our room was on the the -2 level with a view to an ugly wall. The pool is rather small and open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, i.e. when people go sightseeing so actually no chance to make an use of the extra facilities.

Review 74:The hotel is well located, well equipped and the staff is very helpfull. Nicly decorated, big and clean rooms and comfortable beds are highly appreciated. Free WiFi working well.

Review 75:1. Underground car park very tight, dark and difficult to manoeuvre in. 2. Had to wait in line an unnecessarily long time to check out. Although there were three staff on the reception desk, seemingly only one was able to handle the check out process, while the other two stood by and watched.

Review 76:Good location, friendly staff, well appointed room and good restaurant.

Review 77:Not so clean. The photos make the hotel look a lot better than it really is. WiFi very very slow.

Review 78:Good position in the city. Parking (€17/night) at the hotel

Review 79:Recently redecorated room. good value for money. Garage located in the hotel. Nice pool area. Lovely neighborhood with good authentic restaurants. Reliable and professional staff.

Review 80:There was a persistent unpleasant smell in the bathroom, but very clean, though. The reception stuff was very friendly, but only able to offer me 80% accurate info on Alsa bus complicated reservation system. However, they certainly had good intentions and I appreciate this.

Review 81:Large room and bathroom, big comfortable beds. Nice decirations. About 20 minutes walk from main attractions. Overall clean.

Review 82:The food from the bar that we got for room service was very average.

Review 83:The room was a good size, as was the bathroom. The gym is simple but functional. Parking in the same building was a plus. The bar service was nice.

Review 84:The WiFi connection was terrible. We were at the end of the hall, so I think the signal was weaker there and we had to walk to the door to get anything to connect to the Internet...anywhere else in the room it would not work. the shower was hard to adjust, the temperature went from very hot to very cold with the slightest touch. Finally, the TV was in an odd location to the side of the bed instead of at the foot of the bed; that gave stiff necks!

Review 85:This hotel is in a great location for sightseeing in Cordoba. The room was clean and very well decorated.

Review 86:very basic, staff were silent about the facilities in the hotel. you have to ask for everything. I.e can I park my car in the car park- answer 'yes'. You need to ask another Q for the cost and so on.

Review 87:Location and breakfast

Review 88:Our room was comfortable but decor throughout a bit tired and dated. Breakfast buffet in my opinion was a bit expensive for what was on offer.

Review 89:Excellent location - in the centre of the city and an easy walk to the historic centre, shops and restaurants. A definite plus was the garage parking on site.

Review 90:room section have low ceilings and dark corridors;

Review 91:breakfast acceptable no more and dinner ordinary; proximity (walking distance) to all main attractions; great garage access but pricy

Review 92:Dinner was good (we had gotten the half board, which we probably wouldn't do again), but apparently nobody but one other couple went there for dinner. Kind of a major lack of any sort of ambiance there. (The wait staff was great however.)

Review 93:Not on the prettiest of streets, but surprisingly easy to get everywhere we wanted. The parking was right there, you just have to look for Hotel Alfaros without the Maria, because it's not on the sign. Used the laundry service which did a great job. Breakfast was very good, and not a lot of people.

Review 94:This is a large, corporate-style hotel located within easy walking distance of Cordoba's major tourist attractions. Usually I stay at smaller, more intimate hotels when traveling on vacation, but Booking.com offered us an excellent rate, and so we took it. large Roman ruins and excellent tapas restaurants (including many with largely Spanish clientele) right around the corner. A 10-15 minute walk to the Mezquita. Nicely maintained rooms; excellent breakfast buffet--a good deal for the price; convenient underground parking [about 16 Euros/day, if I remember correctly].

Review 95:The restaurant we think was poor for a 4 star hotel..sent the food backit was cold...served with a small spoon of tinned baby carrots&small portion of potato.

Review 96:Most things are very good except the restaurant.ie food quality

Review 97:Even if overall we did not rise direct complains, the fact it is rated as 4 stars is absolutely a lie. The bed was not so comfortable, with short and cold cover. The WiFi was a joke. Staff did not believe we booked last minute and I was lucky enough to still have my smartphone browser saved on the booking page. However what really should rip off at least 2 stars from its rating was the smell of the bathroom.

Review 98:We have chosen this hotel as it was on our road from car to the very centre of the city. It was in a very good position for us.

Review 99:Perhaps the barman had too much to do with serving customers and orders to the rooms in the hotel, it took long time to order so we gave up at the end.

Review 100:WiFi - Internet was slow.

Review 101:1) Location - walking distance to Le Mesquite, Judairia, Roman bridge, etc.... 2) Halal shawarma restaurant - Estaunbul, Lahore pak cusine, walking distance. 3) Close to train and bus station (€7-10) by taxi.

Review 102:Very average breakfast, poor wifi coverage

Review 103:Excellent location at walking distance from the historic centre. Nice building, room with views over the city. Good parking facility.

Review 104:Noisy neighbours, kids jumping up and down. Parents not controlling them, even some adults very noisy in the middle of the nights.

Review 105:Location, comfort, friendly staff. Clean and tidy place. Good selection of breakfast food.

Review 106:We would preferred better pillows.

Review 107:We have been travelling for several months but when we reached Cordoba, we wished we had more time to explore this charming classy city. The hotel was in the heart of the city, walking was easy and very safe.

Review 108:Not dislikes - more like suggestions: A kettle/coffee/tea tray in the room for late-night tea or early moning coffee when bar/kitchen is closed. Also, at least one, preferably two, electricity plugs next to the desk/worktop so that I didn't have to ask for an extension cord for my laptop and cellphone/kindle charger!

Review 109:Perfectly located closed to town centre, spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent restaurant, highly professional and extremely pleasant staff, family friendly and excellent value for money, I will most certainly return when on my next visit. I recommend it highly.

Review 110:The carpets are worn our and the walls are very thin. The housekeeping staff was very loud in the mornings.

Review 111:The old city is 15 minutes walking distance, close to central area. The hotel itself is nice and clean.

Review 112:- Cost - too expensive especially as swimming pool closed - Why? Also cost of parking - No swimming pool but booked as a service provided

Review 113:- The location is good , close to the old part of the city - Spacious rooms, clean and well serviced - Excellent staff, very helpful

Review 114:The swimming pool is a joke! (small, half empty and water not clean). For a longer stay, this area would have been crucial.

Review 115:The hotel is located very close to the columns and very close to bars and restaurants. Is great for Cordoba! The best asset of this hotel is the staff (kind, helpfull and really customer oriented). Special thanks to Ms. Olga! She is fantastic!

Review 116:Hotel was in an ideal location. Standard of hotel was very high, comfortable rooms, very clean, and pool facilities were excellent. Staff were very helpful especially Rafael .

Review 117:Receptionist day time not very friendly ( the woman not the man ). Breakfast poor, room smell.

Review 118:Well it's a very basic 4 stars. It's in fact more a decent 3 stars.

Review 119:Room was rather dark and pool although lovely was in the shade for most of the afternoon. Not a lot you can do about that but disappointing. Maybe only because it was October!

Review 120:Good location and helpful staff

Review 121:The long bolster pillows were too hard for comfort. The hotel is meant to be non-smoking, but the neighboring room guest insisted upon smoking from his open window. Sadly, the angle was such that his stinking smoke blew directly into our room. We had to leap up several times to close our window until he was done and air cleared!

Review 122:Everything was as it should be to meet expectations, including friendly helpful staff who knew the answers to questions in English. Favorite aspect was being able to open the windows to a view of stars in a clear evening sky and the early morning peace filled sunrise.

Review 123:Nothing

Review 124:Helpful people in reception, very good recomendations for dining, we were surprised with fruit in our rroom to celebrate my husband's b-day... Which was really sweet!! quite nice room, great parking, underneath hotel, great location!

Review 125:Very dirty carpet in bedroom. (Can't think why you would need carpet in a hotel in Cordoba!) Hotel bar closes at 11pm on a Saturday night for goodness sake! Very expensive but necessary underground parking. Actually didn't mind paying though for peace of mind.

Review 126:The Mosque and Jewish quarter is just an easy 15 minute stroll. Good bathrooms with high end toiletries. Buffet breakfast was excellent with all tastes catered for. There's even a (limited) hot section.

Review 127:The hotel itself isn't in a particularly charming area but it's close enough. The room was dated but comfortable. The shower had amazing pressure but was a bit moldy. The breakfast was great though. Making it an even better value.

Review 128:Once you know how the streets of the city flows, you'll realize that you are on a top location in the center of the city. including som necessary coolness from the swimmingpool

Review 129:It's difficult to find spacious hotels in old towns of Spain. This hotel is one of them. The rooms, the lobby are all sufficiently large. The lication is also good,

Review 130:From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The receptionist recommended an excellent restaurant with a free flamenco show. She booked us a table, arranged a taxi and even spoke to the waiter to ensure they could cater with my garlic allergy! The rooms were excellent. In fact we couldn't fault anything! Value for money was also excellent!

Review 131:The staff were most helpful and accommodating. The room was comfortable and quiet. It was a pleasant stay but a brisk walk from the tourist attractions. On site parking was a definite plus.

Review 132:Cost of parking.Difficult to find without satnav.Very noisy hotel both outside until 4 .30am and inside constant noise from residents and staff.

Review 133:Good facilities and location OK.

Review 134:This hotel is probably best suited to people in Cordoba on business, rather than for the international traveller. Feels like just another hotel you could be at anywhere in the world. Double room size is quite small I thought. This must be the only hotel room I've stayed in around the world that didn't have a mini bar. This is just an observation. I normally don't touch the mini bar.

Review 135:The pool was a welcome addition.
