Reviews for Sercotel Hotel Selu

Review 1:The hallways are shabby. The room needs some refurbishment too, but has everything one might need for a short term stay.

Review 2:The location is convenient for those using train or bus stations. On a relatively quiet street not too far from the very center. Walkable distances everywhere, shopping street right around the corner. Breakfast was excellent for a 3 start hotel. Luggage storage available. One full day to see main sights of Cordoba is sufficient.

Review 4:Good location on walking distance from the bus- and railway station and from the historic center of town. Especially during the week: good value for money. On Friday- and Saturdaynight the hotel is more expensive. A generous buffet breakfast from 7.30 am. Clean, comfortable, quiet. English spoken.

Review 5:The location is quite good, within 10 minutes' walk to the central bus station and 10 minutes' walk to the old town. The room is cozy and clean.

Review 6:Noise. Walls and floors very thin so you can hear all nabours. No views apart metallic stairs on the back of the building

Review 7:Good location. Good value for money. Very clean

Review 8:Noisy adjoining room and some street noise in the early hours. Breakfast was mediocre, luke warm eggs and half cooked bacon. shower fitting strange, it hung off a fitting very low down for an average user.

Review 9:Brilliant location close to tourist attractions. Undercover parking. Very friendly, efficient, helpful Staff (ALL). Clean comfortable room. Room lighting was very good.

Review 10:No hooks in the bathroom No soap holder in shower No high towel rail

Review 11:Location, secure parking ( they allowed us to use the car park AFTER we had checked out, ) facilities were equally accessible for able bodied as well as wheelchair users, excellent location, spacious room with drawers and wardrobe.

Review 12:Nothing. Don't compare with 4/5* hotels or hostels. It fits nicely in between to provide decent B&B style accommodation.

Review 13:It's location being very near the station and old city and within easy walking distance. The breakfast: ample and sensible timing in hugh breakfast room. Most of all the price! Excellent value £70 for 3 nights inc breakfast.

Review 14:Although the bathroom was very good, the room could have been updated and there was a lot of noise from the internal courtyard/tunnel.

Review 15:The location was very convenient. The breakfast was also very good and the staff were extremely helpful.

Review 16:Charge guests more then standard parking. At check in staff was more interested in our passports then helping us. They wanted to charge for every thing even for safety locker in the room. At breakfast the bread had fungus on it.

Review 17:Location

Review 18:If you want to key to the safe you have to pay for it. If you want to use the minibar you also have to ask for a key. This should be mentioned during check-in. The walls and doors don't keep any noise out and the other hotels guests were talking, shouting, laughing and slamming doors in the hallway and rooms until 2 pm. Didn't get much sleep. Hotel staff didn't speak much English.

Review 19:The hotel has its own garage (€ 11.- per night) but is not made for big cars.

Review 20:This Hotel was in a very convenient location for all the shops bars restaurants and historical monuments of Cordoba. Easy access to the Cordoba sightseeing bus, stop number 6, and walking distance to the rail and bus station. Lovely friendly staff and superb breakfasts, highly recommended.

Review 21:We were above the kitchen and dining room which was quite noisy and the windows were on to a well again with some noise - but saying that it wasn't too bad and was good value

Review 22:Very good value, good breakfast

Review 23:Very convenient location for reaching from the railway station and then to walk in and out of the centre of town. Extremely good value for a very comfortable hotel with a good breakfast.

Review 24:Staff was not very helpful - perhaps because they could not communicate very well in English. We were also annoyed by the fact that our instructions on booking were ignored - we asked for a room with a double bed on one of the upper floors. We got a room just above the reception (so we could hear the phone ringing and all conversations) with two single beds. That said, they changed the room after the first night so I guess we can br grateful for that.

Review 25:The location was excellent. Parking was available (although I thought the price was a bit high). The room was clean and we had everything we needed

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:This hotel has an excellent location - close to the railway station, but also close to the old town, and in a quiet street. The staff are very helpful.

Review 28:Noise evident from neighbouring rooms, but can't say it bothered us much.

Review 29:Well-run hotel in great location. Room inexpensive (although underground parking – €17 – ups the cost.

Review 30:the walls were badly insulated in as much as you could hear several guests bodily functions, and very noisy at night

Review 31:the hotel was very well positioned for our needs

Review 32:The air conditioning was useless you have to ask reception to turn the temp down or even to start or stop it !! We end up in the middle of the night trotting down to reception to ask them to cool the room down (madness !! ) spoilt an otherwise great Hotel

Review 33:Great location in the middle of both the Hisoric centre and the new shopping area,s of town, Very good staff and great parking Great value for money

Review 34:No bar open in the hotel. First room we were given was not what we asked for.

Review 35:The location within walking distance of old town. Very good breakfast for the extra money. Underground parking.

Review 36:Rooms could use some updating. Not luxury rooms but clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.

Review 37:Location was great. We drove, and once we got up the very narrow "road" the hotel parked the car and we walked for everything. All was easy. Breakfast for $11 was as good as we've had in all other similar hotels. Internet was the best I have had in any hotel.

Review 38:The bed was a bit spartan. I found they had a laundry service but I was not happy when I found that they charged me 55 euros to wash my few things. BEWARE.

Review 39:Pleasant hotel with underground parking qhich I reallt appreciated. The breakfast was excellent. The locations was convenient too with an easy walk to the mesquite.

Review 40:Rooms not soundproofed. People leaving very early in morning in rooms nearby is a little bit like them being in your own room packing and preparing to depart. Breakfast not very inspiring.

Review 41:Location, price and cleanliness

Review 42:Western window in a heatwave (40+ C) with the a/c under it - struggled to initially cool the room, but eventually we got it cool enough!

Review 43:Locality - using GPS, easy to locate; easy walking distance to the old town; parking; breakfast

Review 44:Not a bad experience, but although the air-conditioning was working, there was no way to adjust within the room. It is controlled centrally. Cordoba is a seriously hot Spanish town. We slept fine, but I would have had the room a little cooler.

Review 45:Cordoba itself within walking distance. Hotel and room good and good value for money

Review 46:Less than 10 minutes' walk to the train station. City centre is around the corner. Easy to walk to the sightseeing sites. Overall good and comfortable.

Review 47:Would have been good for hotel to provide information on how to get there by car. I think that when hotels such as this one are in locations with closed streets etc, it would help patrons if they are told about this in advance

Review 48:The parking!! Having on Ste secure parking and having a friendly staff member guide us into it after driving around the very narrow streets trying to find the place was a great relief

Review 49:None at all.

Review 50:Location, just 5 mins from Main shopping area. Quiet. Good size and well furnished rooms. Excellant staff. A very good experience . Surprised hasnt got 4 stars.

Review 51:Very expensive parking. Modified booking with hotel consent. When time came to pay only small rebate. This was not diclosed by staff when making change. :=( Avoid street side rooms on garbage collection nights.

Review 52:Business type hotel. Basic and clean. Just inside old town and walking distance to centrum.

Review 53:Thin walls so you can hear what happens next to you

Review 54:Good location only 10 min to Cathedral-Mosque and 2 min walking to shopping area with cafes and restaurants, fairly good Wifi signal, perfect for customers using wheelchair, willingness staff, I will definitely book again

Review 55:Terrible pillows (so small and thin as to be nearly nonexistent), and very thin walls (not so good if you have noisy neighbours).

Review 56:Very clean, excellent bathroom (no mold, broken tiles, loose and leaking shower heads, etc, like you usually find in three-star hotels), and superb range of breakfast choices.

Review 57:Our room had no natural light only artificial, hence it was cheap. Safe could only be used if we got a key. No remote for TV. Empty mini bar

Review 58:Staff on reception friendly. Clean. Very good location

Review 59:Waiting to be served at reception. They would allow us to go to our room and wouldn't even mind our bags; pathetic!

Review 60:It has a great location. Not far (15 minutes walk) from station bus and train car hire etc. similar distance to Mesquita and similar sights closers to bars and restaurants.

Review 61:- Staff was cold - Rooms are clean, but definitely not romantic (70's design) - Parking is really tight (don't show up with an SUV) - They gave us two single beds while we booked as a couple with a kid. Nice work.

Review 62:- Great location : a minute away from downtown - Spacious and clean rooms - Convenient parking in the building

Review 63:it was half way from the train/bus station and Mezquita. I could easily find restaurants/tapas bars. Staff was very helpful. Clean and lovely hotel in the city

Review 64:We spent two nights in Cordoba while travelling by train from Bath to Seville. This hotel was ideally located a ten minute walk from the station and a shorter walk from the historic centre.

Review 65:No restaurant available one of the evenings and couldn't even get a drink. Ask for a room at the back, our front facing room was noisy.

Review 66:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 67:The breakfast was horrible - all items were processed and very poor quality. The regular room was very dated, although the bathroom was renovated. The separation walls are cardboard - I could hear my neighbor plugging in his devices.

Review 68:The only good thing about this hotel Is the location. Superior rooms looked a bit better. Underground parking - a must if you stay in the historical downtown area (no parking otherwise).

Review 69:One of the worst breakfast in Spain. Tasteless eggs/ruined (undercooked, oily, cold) bacon..and I usually love both. It's a shame..and very overpriced too! AVOID! Refrigerator turns off when out of the room. Somewhat strange, since they really push their mini-bar packages, also grossly overpriced. Strange noises came from the interior common area for our entire three night stay. Looked out numerous times, but failed to find the cause. Still wondering where the noises came from. At check-out, they tried to charge me for one night, which I had pre-paid two months in advance! They fixed the problem quickly by giving me my VISA receipt which was in their files! Keeps you on your toes, for sure!

Review 70:Very busy front desk, but helpful information provided. Room basic but fairly priced. Bathroom fine. Underground garage safe/convenient but expensive, unless combined with a package. Breakfast staff friendly! Supermarket a few minutes away. Cheap accomodations in a generally overpriced city. I would still go back!

Review 71:Underground parking great! Front desk VERY busy but friendly staff always willing to help, even if their advice is not always correct. I found more accurate info at the Tourist Info kiosk in the main square, not far away. Avoid breakfast..way overpriced for the little you get. World's worst scrambled eggs! Half of the buffet space is taken up by ridiculously unneccessary 'stuff,' like numerous kinds of jelly and cookies that go untouched. The good stuff, like OJ,(only real juice choice) runs our soon, although they do refill it when asked. Usually one bread choice..and the toaster is busy, so be prepared to wait! Mini-bar/refrigerator in the room one of the most expensive I've seen anyway (72 countries and counting). They have a whole page of explanation about your options for 'mini-bar packages", all outragous. For 35 euro, you get almost nothing! For example, 200ml of mineral water, tiny everything! Plus FREE ice..after paying 35 euro! And, as they wrote, 'we will force you to pay for it, even if you didn't use all of it. No refunds!" Buyer beware! Thank goodness there's a cheap supermarket close by near the main square. But then the refrigerator turns off every time you leave the room! Despite these 'house policy' problems, I would still go back since the hotel itself is fine, fast elevator, the room is comfortable,bathroom/shower all work and the hotel is not far from shopping/sites/dining. As for rates, I got a good deal which included parking and breakfast, but would definitely skip breakfast next time (though the waiters are nice and even SMILE!) Before booking, check on the internet because this hotel has many plans/rates available.

Review 72:Breakfast room dingy, low ceiling, no natural light, least attractive ever encountered. Coffee undrinkable. food poor (how do they make bacon as bad as this?). Despite having booked a double bed, had to put up with two single beds for first night. Long waits at reception - only one person on duty

Review 73:Location. One good piece of advice from reception (Victoria market nearby)

Review 74:It is worth mentioning that the room does not look the same as in the photos. The room window faced the wall and it was very uncozy. In reality the room is small and old fashioned (no mini bar and no bath, just shower as promised). The old lady at the reception does not speak english. Also it looked like she is not familiar with the check-in procedure. She asked us to give her our documents and at first she did not accept our ID cards (which is official EU document and is valid even for the flights) and asked to provide passports, which we did not have. Definitely, it is not worth to order breakfast for 11 euros. There are a lot of cozy cafes around which work even on x-mas day or Sundays. You can get royal breakfast for that price there. Not the cheapest cheese and sausages which You get at the hotel.

Review 75:It is really close to the old town of Cordoba. Staff serving breakfast was really nice and pleasant. Reception is open 24 hours. Good wifi connection.

Review 76:10 mins walking to the mezquita and the train/bus station (stations are across each other). Helpful staff who even give you a page explaining the opening hours of attractions (they're free between 8:30-9:30!). Clean rooms.

Review 77:The breakfast is ordinary, many products are pre-packed expecially cakes.

Review 78:Everithing. Good location, nice room, and excellent staff. Good value for money.

Review 79:Air conditioning system was turned off; the front desk turned it on for us but it automatically turned off the next morning. The room got a bit stuffy

Review 80:Clean, comfortable room Good location -- walkable to train and bus stations, walkable to key city sites, quiet street with no car traffic

Review 81:Breakfast OK, quite a lot of long life packets/tins of food, although there was a cooked breakfast.

Review 82:Location between old and new parts, quite road, good wifi

Review 83:The coffee was horrible

Review 84:Position, staff were very helpful, room was good spacious and clean, good shower. Breakfast was good and plentiful. There was a fridge in the room so you could put your own things in there or order a package of goods from reception

Review 85:private parking quite expensive (17.60 euro per night), rooms not soundproof and especially in the morning you can hear quite some noise of people walking in the hallway.

Review 86:Very good location, near shops and the mezquita on walking distance.

Review 87:Staff at the desk is always busy and thus not very attentive and helpful No WiFi in the room We refused the hotel breakfast as it was very poor in choice and went to nearest Cafe which turned out to be nice choice with traditional food

Review 88:Location Window blind Good hairdryer

Review 89:As we travelled by car parking was a problem.

Review 90:Was in ideal position for our needs as clear of the central tourist but close enough to walk ,also only a short walk to the rail station as we visited Seville, also really close to all the shops.

Review 91:Have to figure out where the hotel is in a side street. Bed was average. 11€ for breakfast only option.

Review 92:Close to everything. Around a km to Mesquita and Roman bridge.

Review 93:very expensive charge of 16.5 euro/day for our dog. Our room, as did many others, had internal window overlooking central void so no view.

Review 94:close to facilities of old town. convenience of on site garaging at 15 euro/day so not overpriced. Lovely bathroom with powerful shower. plenty of wardrobe space and storage.

Review 95:Cons: very good except for potential noise from neighboring guests; The door and adjacent room walls seemed paper thin so the noise from the hallway sounded as if the door was open!; This can be a big potential issue if you have noisy neighbors but I had a very good 1-night stay: the noise for me was ok because the neighbors only made loud noise when entering their room and talking in the hallway; though it did wake me up when they entered their room late at night and left their room before I did in the morning. Minor note: Map provided by hotel was poor (did not detail most small streets); had to get a better detailed map from Tourist Info center

Review 96:Pros: Large business-class like hotel: very good except for potential noise from neighboring guests (see "cons" for details); Good location (walkable from train station and to main parts of town: Mezquita area and Plaza de las Tendillas); Clean, modern furnishing and fixtures; Shower pressure was good but shower space was tiny (common in Spain); I had a very good & comfortable stay; Breakfast had great variety: very basic but lots of variety - fantastic for a free breakfast; Staff at front desk spoke sufficient English; because the hotel is pretty big, there were several staff members around

Review 97:I booked for one person room and got room for two persons so my visit started from a pleasant surprise.service, staff and ambiance all was great. Breakfast was good

Review 98:We could not get a double room. We were shown two rooms which smelt of cigarette smoke but after complaining, staff incredibly accommodating and found us a room which was ideal.

Review 99:Location good and staff extremely helpful.

Review 100:A little out from the centre so if you mind the trek, then not one to book. We didn't mind so we were ok. Quiet area too. Depends how you look at that. It was good for resting up, but not so good if we wanted to be out with the crowd.

Review 101:Location was good. Staff were friendly and hotel was clean. Worth the money. Quiet location too so a good night sleep every night.

Review 102:Excellent location, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Everyone was very helpful. It was a little hard to find, but once there we were very happy. Walked to everything. Would definitely go back.

Review 103:The hotel staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The best thing about our stay was the location: close to all main monuments and only a 15 minute walk to the train station.

Review 104:- AC could have worked better. - Not for people who want really high end services.

Review 105:- Location is awesome; it's all within walking distance. It's such a small town so we parked the car and just walked everywhere. - Not an expensive hotel, decent room, good for the price.

Review 106:Hotel has own underground parking so no need to look for parking. Close to main shopping area in Cordoba. Not far from historic sites. Nice hotel, well maintained. Helpful staff. I received town plan and quick explanation what is where. Fridge in my room :)

Review 107:distance from places of interest

Review 108:fridge in room, onsite parking

Review 109:Difficult side street to find on the map

Review 110:Very convenient for the train and bus station, Juderia and commercial centre all in 10 mins walk.

Review 111:Nothing really to dislike

Review 112:Breakfast was no guite good. Not like Eu countries . No goo coggeeffee. Juice no original. To expencive breakfast. No near place to eat breakfast.

Review 113:From my taste's point of view, the breakfast was somewhat poor. But I heard other opinions.

Review 114:Great location. Clean and nice.

Review 115:Best in Cordoba vs price

Review 116:No facilities in hotel for a drink.

Review 117:Loved location. City center at end of street.

Review 122:Staff very friendly and helpfull, , very clean, , nice breakfast, , in a great location.

Review 123:Modern, spacious, comfortable rooms. Excellent buffet breakfast. Close to the train station and the sights.
