Reviews for Hostal Mapoula P.R.

Review 1:The hallway was very noisy. I could hear everything from my room. Breakfast is served too late for early risers. Because I had a morning flight I missed breakfast here but it did look like it would have been good.

Review 2:The location: near the stop for the bus to the airport, restaurants, shops, Alameda park.

Review 3:In the middle of the city but still really quite during the night. The persons working there are really nice and helpful (they speak english, german, spanish....very well). The rooms are new and have everything for good stay. Also the price is really good for a Hotel in Santiago and there are Taxis directly outside to bring you to the Airport if needed.

Review 4:second night we had to move rooms and got a huge degrade for only 5 euros less. The downstairs rooms are old and not very comfortable. 55 euros was too much for that.

Review 5:Breakfest was wonderful. First room we stayed it was flawless.

Review 6:Initially finding the entrance and then the lobby (located on 3rd floor) was a little challenging but this was only a minor issue.

Review 7:Location was excellent for our purposes. Close to the Cathedral and the sites we were interested in. Room was very comfortable with private bathroom.

Review 8:Very difficult to find and the fact that reception was on the third floor should have been made clearer.

Review 9:Once we had located the hotel and the fact that reception was on the third floor, we found the rooms beautifully decorated with all the usual facilities. Walking out of the front door into one of Santiago's main streets was great. Basic but good breakfast and very friendly staff.

Review 10:the location is excellent. although it wad difficult to locate the hotel. it is very close to praza galicia. the staff helped us to chech in our flight. we had some health problem and the staff helped us to get the best medical treatment .i am recommending highly this excellent and decent hotel.

Review 11:Really clean and comfy after walking along the camino. Amazing shower. I was allowed to leave my backpack there until check in time. Great location, easy to get to the cathedral and just across the street from the airport bus. Would definitely stay again.

Review 12:Rooms a lot smaller than look in photos...but nice.

Review 13:On last day we were leaving at 6.30 so we asked for an early breakfast. When we came back from dinner the night before we found a breakfast tray in our room with muffins and flasks of hot milk and coffee. Very nice detail. Also fresh rose in the room.

Review 14:You have to speak Spanish, they communicate in English but better if you prepare some basic in advance.

Review 15:This was just a great place. We have just finished the Camino and wanted a nice hotel in the end. They was so flexible offered us laundry service etc... Nice, clean place with beautiful room.

Review 16:Excellent hôtel très propre et tranquille près de la Cathédrale! Personnel courtois et dévoué. Service personnalisé! Excellent petit déjeuner! Le propriétaire Manuel parle très bien le français, de même que l'anglais!

Review 17:Should have a notice downstairs that reception is on floor 3. Bathroom very small. Very little day light in room.

Review 18:They tried their very best to be helpful.

Review 19:The guest rooms have been completely remodeled, from floor to ceiling. The staff is friendly and the building is very conveniently located within the old part of the city, as well as the airport bus stop in Plaza Galicia!

Review 20:I couldn't find any. They were perfect.

Review 21:The Mapoula PR is located very very close to the Santiago's Cathedral, in the Historical City Centre. Our room was very comfortable, modern, and clean. The staff was very polite and professional. No doubt we'd stay there again if we go back to Santiago.

Review 22:Can be noisy at night but this is the city centre, everything else is first class.

Review 23:There isn't anything to dislike in this City Centre rustic comfort Hotel right next to the Plaza Galicia. The owners are really special and take great care of their guests.

Review 24:The room is a little bit smaller than what the photos are presenting. Wi-Fi speed is slow, takes a while to download photos.

Review 25:Very well located and within a few hundred feet from the cathedral. The staff was very pleasant.

Review 26:Some rooms are very small, winter time rooms are cold, nonetheless, everything is available to be as comfy as possible. Can be noisy but not significant.

Review 27:Fantastic central location, rooms are clean and fresh.

Review 28:Staying in hostal s you never know what to expect. This newly renovated one was wonderful. My room was very small but had everything I needed including a lovely bathroom. It is as compact as a boat. Highly recommended.

Review 29:Staff. Not friendly at all and not ONE word English. typical for a city like Santiago de Compostela; it runs on foreigners. 'Hable español'! yes, right.

Review 30:location, nice room

Review 31:Can't think of anything

Review 32:Everything - friendly staff, incomparably central location, café for breakfast literally across street from entrance. Allowed us to leave bags all day after our check out . This is our third time to stay here and we would return and recommend it to our friends

Review 33:Staff wasn't that friendly; room was a little small.

Review 34:The room was newly remodeled and really nicely decorated. The location was good - in the old part of town, close to restaurants and an easy walk to the cathedral.

Review 35:The size of the room and bathroom, both a bit small for 2 people.

Review 36:There are 3 floors and 2 of them have just been renewed. We got the room 106 on the first floor, and furniture and commodities were excellent. I would just point out that the size of the room is a bit tight for 2 people: bed was smaller than 140 cms and bedroom a bit small. Other than that, perfect room for perfect price.

Review 37:We were three people in a small room with a window facing an interior patio. At night, we wanted to turn on the air conditioner because there was no air circulating. It didn't work, nobody helped us. We could not sleep in all night. Next morning we talk with the owner, he doesn't apologize and on top of that he is rude and insolent. He doesn't care about costumers. We will never come back.

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:the rooms are recently reconstructed and extremely comfortable, even if maybe a little small. the hostal is in the city center, but still it is absolutely quiet at night, and the personal was very nice and helpful.

Review 40:Shower water pressure could have been better. Only complaint.

Review 41:Near plaza de Galicia ( perfect for bus transportation ). Quiet and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful .

Review 42:No complaints

Review 43:This hostel was very centrally located. Would recommend the Palestinian restaurant outside it Malek for great evening meal. The hostel had a very friendly lady with a good grasp of English who made an effort to welcome you.

Review 44:Owner/staff rudeness. Having stayed here a few times, I was disgusted by the way I was treated this time. I can't recommend this place anymore.

Review 71:Location and friendliness of staff

Review 72:After five weeks of walking the Camino, the Mapoula was a welcomed stay. Close to shopping and the cathedral, but quiet and restful.

Review 73:Size and comfort of room. Impressive renovations.

Review 74:Location. Comfort. Value for money. Pleasant staff. ABOUT 10 minutes walk from the railway station and another 6 minutes to th cathedral.

Review 75:Good location in the Old Town, refurbished, very clean. I had an interior room that was quiet.

Review 76:Good value for money. Nice design. Comfortable. Attractive. Great breakfast. Nice people.

Review 77:Can't really think of anything

Review 78:Very nice room, staff very helpful. There is a mini fridge for longer stays.

Review 79:I like how accommodating they are despite my late check in.

Review 80:Nothing.

Review 81:Everything! Staff were very nice and friendly, room very clean, comfortable bed. Great location and very reasonable!

Review 82:Spain in general Is very noisy and people are rude. Not a place I would visit twice.

Review 83:Close to airport bus, cathedral, old centre, restaurants.

Review 84:Sketchy wifi. Small room.

Review 85:Helpful attentive staff. Location.

Review 86:The location was my main priority

Review 87:single room was very very small

Review 88:Location: right in old town

Review 89:window towards busy and loud street

Review 90:location: very close to cathedral

Review 91:Very good location (about 5-10 mins to the Cathedral on foot)

Review 92:Great location with helpful owner. Room was nice and clean and overlooked a small coi pond. Wifi didn't work in room one day but great reception in 3rd floor lobby and there was seating available. Let us store luggage while we traveled for a few days into Portugal!

Review 93:Only the one staff member (manager?) could speak enough English toassist me and very polite and firendly. The other staff members veryunhelpfull and unfriendly (because they could not understand me ?)

Review 94:I liked the clean and comfortable room. Very central to everything Iwanted to do and see. Near the day trip uses and train station, etc.wifi very reliable. Security and safety great !

Review 95:Noise in room from what seemed to be a lift. breakfast was a waste of money-dry roll only butter and jam, one of each pp, had to nick from other tables. Staff did not clear tables. Boss was busy operating a rather difficult coffee machine, yougurt was watery.

Review 96:Easy to find and get around from

Review 97:Warm welcome and exceptionally clean roomss and bathhroom. Commfortable beds with ssoft blankets. The roasted cabrito and ensalada mixta was a amazing!

Review 98:The location in the old city is ideal for the Cathedral and the pedestrian centre but is also very close to an underground car park and the very pleasant and attractive park gardens.

Review 99:Nothing really great value

Review 100:Great Location, clean rooms and very comfortable. WiFi worked well which is unusual but it was brilliant, so we could find out what to see and where to go. Helpful staff and would stay there again.

Review 101:Hotel Mapoula is situated in a nice, quiet spot in the centre of Santiago (where the wall was, ages ago.) The rooms are comfortable, and there is an elevator. Mapoula also provides Internet and a printer in case you need your boarding pass printed.

Review 102:If it can provide tea maker, it would be very perfect! The employee cannot speak English...

Review 103:The location is very convenient! The room is clean and comfortable!

Review 104:We were delayed and did not arrive till 1am. i phoned and they kindly waited up and let us check in at that late hour. good location. Great to have chilled beer from the minibar after an exhausting journey

Review 105:Superb location in the old city, minutes walk from the cathedral, but also very close to attractive city park and convenient undrerground car park

Review 106:For the price nothing.

Review 107:Exceptionally well situated just inside the old city. A budget option but clean and comfortable and a fresh flower in each room a nice thought.

Review 108:Getting in and out of the shower is a chore. I'm a petite woman and agile, but this would be a problem for a larger person, or an older person, as you have to climb a high ledge to get in the bathtub, and once there, you can barely move. For this reason, I would be reluctant to recommend this place to all travelers.

Review 109:Located on a quiet, pedestrian street. The woman at the front desk is lovely. The room was clean and nicely decorated.

Review 110:The Hostel was easy to find and in a great location close to all the restuarants and bars, and a short walk to the Cathedral. The room, though small, was very clean and new and had everything needed. Strong wifi....a/c, comfortable bed and great shower. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 111:My only complaint is that there is a lot of street noise late into the night from a local bar--but in Spain, that is to be expected. Close the window and forget it.

Review 112:The location in the "casco viejo" or old quarter of Santiago is perfect. It is affordable and clean. There is a computer for internet access, into which you feed coins.
