Reviews for Hotel Garbi

Review 1:WOW!!!! I was in the nicest room. Truly great hotel. Very professional. The staff are really wonderful and warm. I felt very relaxed and taken care of. The entire place is very clean and well run. The facilities are perfect. The location is close to the main area (Calella de Palafrugell is relatively small) I can't fault the place or the wonderful people. The pool area is very neat. I was there at the end of September and had a great time.

Review 2:Breakfast uninspiring! Dining room needed airing!

Review 3:Clean,comfortable and airy room with partial sea view and balcony -nice! Pleasant swimming pool area. Outside evening meal.

Review 4:Great staff. Very attentive and helpful when we got locked out of our room. Very quick to provide extra pillows and towels. We had one of the cabana rooms (little houses) near the pool. They were terrific for families with children. The kidsm room with bunks bed was even identified as the "captains" room on the door - very funny and cute. AC was great although the kids took didn't have an AC unit but we left door open and they got cool air from our rooms. Not a problem at all on a warm summer night. Kids thought this was one of the best hotels we ever stayed at because of the great amenities (playground, miniature railroad, koi pond, bird cage, gardens, pool) and proximity to beach. It's not luxury (the pool isn't heated, food is the but not great) but it's well kept, well-serviced, and very very fun. Highly recommend for families. They get mostly European tourists but spoke excellent English.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:We were offered an excellent end of season deal which allowed us to charge the batteries after touring Northern Spain. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location and we were lucky with the weather.

Review 9:Bath was a problem. Very slippery and difficult to get out of. Not very safe for older guests. Needed an engineering degree to operate shower! Breakfast O.K. But additions of nuts and fruits would make cereal more interesting.

Review 10:Location pretty good. Very nice pool and surroundings.

Review 11:-Woman receptionist and the ones from the breakfast were not friendlyand did not pay attention at all to us. You can see that asking themsomething bothers them. -Building and room needing an urgent renovation:broken tubes in the bathroom, old mattress.. -Swimming pool 's waterextremely cold, could not enter in it. -10 euros deposit for a towel -very bad quality for such an expensive stay.

Review 12:-Clean rooms -Nice Jacuzzi

Review 13:The receptionist was surley and unhelpful. Breakfast was poor. Ourwardrobe was full of ants and our clothes were covered in them. Leftwithout clothe s for a day after they took them away to be cleaned. Theythen suggested we were lucky not to be charged to have them cleaned. After a downpoor the breakfast area was swimming in water. Towels allover the floors to mop up excess water.

Review 14:Our room was beautifully clean, but bit dated. Some other parts of hotel need updating. New table tennis bats and balls needed.

Review 15:Position of hotel, very friendly helpful staff. Pool was great. The food was very good Atmosphere was execellent.

Review 16:view from the room, the room itself was large and cozy. Great breakfast, nice helpful staff. The hotel is located on a large area with a great pina forrest.

Review 17:Lots of steps. Empty bar and restaurant even in mid June! Really not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

Review 18:Lovely view from room. Superior room was spacious and very clean.

Review 19:The staff were all very courteous, friendly and efficient. The rooms & restaurant were delightful & the food good.. The hotel is beautifully located on the hillside and amongst trees. It is quiet and calm but not dull, and the beaches & coast paths a mere 5 minute stroll away. The surrounding terrain is a good workout & suitable for fit people who like walking.

Review 20:great location within walking distance of the beaches and coastal walks

Review 21:Nothing.

Review 22:Spectacular setting, excellent location, great facilities, good food with gorgeous outdoor seating. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Review 23:We like everything.

Review 24:The hotel os in a beautiful place, the outside Serra is big and gorgeous, full of pine trees! It is a peaceful place.

Review 25:Very good views Excellent garden/outside facilities Jacuzzi on balcony was a brilliant idea All Staff were excellent

Review 26:Although never without a sunbed I think in very busy times there wouldn't be enough.

Review 27:The quality of the hotel including the breakfast

Review 28:Breakfast

Review 29:Views from 5th floor room

Review 30:Lovely location, great surroundings and friendly staff

Review 31:Great view, nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 32:Noise from adjoining room

Review 33:Staff, view, size of room and breakfasts

Review 34:Lot of noise from people talking in other rooms

Review 35:VIews,grounds,staff,cleanliness, quiet (out of season),short walk to superb beaches and the town.

Review 36:The quality of the breakfast was very poor

Review 37:Generally I thought the hotel standard was very good.

Review 38:I found the hotel staff to be very helpful and friendly, and would highly recommend Hotel Garbi as a place to stay.

Review 39:the pool shower was not working

Review 40:the trees and pool

Review 41:Location - we had to curtail our stay due to stress created by over exertion returning to the hotel after first evening in the town. We therefore remained in hotel the following day to avoid further problem.

Review 42:Quality of service, decor of whole hotel , professionally managed extensive facilities except no mini bar in a superior room. Fantastic view from superior room. Very easy and complimentary parking Very enjoyable poolside lunch of excellent quality Very enjoyable evening buffet for Saint Joan

Review 43:The first thing that hit us when entering the hotel was a musty smell, no good. The second thing was a very disagreeable woman at reception. When we arrived she saw us struggling to get in to the hotel with the suitcases and didn't bother to hold the door for us. We arrived at 1:20 PM and she told us in a really bad mood that checking in was until 2:00PM, and instead of telling us that we could leave the luggage, we have to ask her. I also asked her if there were other ways to get to Barcelona airport and she said that the only way was by taxi, didn't tell me there were buses, I had to find out by myself. The other staff were less horrid, but still not very helpful. Only Greg, who after telling us use the computer in the dinning room, agreed to help us to book the bus tickets from reception. Some hotels forget we are paying customers and they are not making us a favour. Politness and helpfulness are a must. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone.

Review 44:Breakfast didn't start until 8.00 - tough for golfers/hikers/biking fans who want an earlier start before the heat kicks in. A few more amenities in the hotel (such as an ice machine, ice bucket, wine glasses) would be helpful. Maybe a fridge available to rent (as with the safe). Only wastebin is the tiny bathroom bin. Hotel plumbing was noisy.

Review 45:Magical setting, the outside terraces under the pines were serene and a throwback to the Mediterranean of 50 years ago. Despite our late summer visit, the hotel was immaculate and clean, with none of the ennui that pervades some hotels at the end of a long season. Wi-fi is now installed (Sept'13) throughout the hotel and works fine (see prior reviewers). Hotel safe rented at 2euros/day. Seaview room is well worth having - but if you can't, the hotel has a terrace with glorious seaviews available to everyone, which is generous and considerate. The special dinners (tuesday, thursday and saturday) are excellent (food &value for money) and well worth patronizing.

Review 46:We did not like the price of the meal we had in the garden, it was supposed to have something to do with cooking? We paid 42euros for steak you needed a drill to cut and was uneatable, plus we had a very small helping of salad, the wine was on a tight lead. Apart from that the pool area was covered in ants, also ants in other parts of the hotel.

Review 47:We liked the room with the most beautiful view from the balcony. The rooms were clean and attractive.

Review 48:No WiFi in rooms. Only by the pool. 5 mns walk to the beach and village, but if you have trouble coping with stairs/hills, the location could be a bit of a problem. We loved it though - meant beautiful views and nice breeze through the pine trees!

Review 49:Classic, well kept luxury hotel from the 60s. Spacious rooms. We were two adults with one child. The extra bed just fit in the Standard Room, while we had a sofa bed + lots of additional space in the Superior Room. The Standard Room was more charming, though. Lovely pool area set in a beautiful garden. Wonderful to relax there when the beach gets too hot or crowded. Nice, simple lunch menu and bar by the pool. Very nice staff everywhere! Good breakfast buffet, but no granola or dark bread. Loved the fresh orange juice! Located 5 mns walk from the beach in quiet area. Easy to find parking spot on the street just outside the hotel.

Review 50:The beds sucked. The wifi in the lobby didn't work so we were forcedto use the computer in the bar, which cost about 4 euros per hour. Thiswas particularly annoying as I had some work I had to do and we hadspecifically picked the Hotel Garbi because it offered free wifi.

Review 51:Great location. Awesome staff. Nice breakfast.

Review 52:Indoor restaurant a bit formal /uninspiring

Review 53:Loved the location /gardens and pool Loved the outdoor eating Garden lighting was magical Great views from front rooms Excellent location Laid back attitude/not too formal

Review 54:Breakfast could have been better

Review 55:View from the room

Review 56:WiFi was a bit hit and miss

Review 57:Easy access to shops beaches and villages. Pretty location and sympathetic landscaping of buildings into the terrain

The Fine Print
