Review 1：The solitude of the Hotel. The hotel had a very personal feel. Easy to get to know guests as small and intimate. The owners very attentive and knowledgable regarding any ailments. Maria has a potion for most things! Food excellent and flavoursome.

Review 2：It's paradise! Rooms set in a fragrant garden behind lovely traditional farmhouse with book-lined den, sauna/massage room, and comfy porch, in a green canyon in the warm Sierra de Gredo foothills - huge grounds with creek, lawns, woods, lagoon, and salt-water swimming pool (no chlorine!). Delicious country breakfast - local and natural - is included, and they'll cook you lunch or dinner on request too. Owners are very interesting and welcoming; they directed us to great natural swimming holes nearby, and a 2300-year-old Celtic village. Maria is an herbal healer and poet, Jose Luis is a painter/psychologist and speaks some English, and their dog Isis is a sage.

The Fine Print

Directions to hotel:Once in the town of Candeleda (Ávila), at the roundabout with a statue to the Spanish Goat, take the exit for Arenas de San Pedro (old road). After 2.8 miles you cross a bridge over the River Muelas (The river is signposted). Just 150 feet further on is a sign for HOTEL RURAL EL CAMINO. Turn left at the sign and continue for 1,500 feet until you reach the hotel.
