Reviews for Meriton Old Town Hotel

Review 1:Breakfast was pretty sad, there was a fair amount of choice, but meatballs and minisausages tasted super industrial and bacon was almost raw. Bread had no taste and coffee was very weak indeed. On the plus-side there were croissants and on one of the two mornings there was also fresh fruit

Review 2:Amazing location and a nice building. Room was quite nice, with a balcony and a view (although paid extra for that)

Review 3:- No parking possibilities close to hotel - Very small rooms and bathroom - Ordered double bed became two separate - The room with windows going to the street is very noisy, not possible to rest during the night

Review 4:Helpful staff and good breakfast. Location is very close to Old town.

Review 5:Standard room very tiny, mostly suitable for solo traveller. Old-fashioned and tired materials of interior, should be renovated.

Review 6:Stuff very helpful. Location in Old Town - step up directly into Medieval atmosphere

Review 7:This time, the room was really small - but that probably can't be helped. No shampoo and conditioner - so bring your own. (There is shower gel, though.)

Review 8:My second stay at the hotel. I do like the vibe; the staff is nice and the location great.

Review 9:The staff has problem with magnetic cards which are keys for the rooms. The cards lose magnetism. But the staff was always there to help.

Review 10:Staff is helpful, kind and polite, room was clean, food (breakfast) was freshly prepared and well.

Review 11:My room was on first floor and was rather exposed on street noise throughout the night.

Review 12:Interesting location - less visited part of Tallinn and thus allowed seeing places out of usual routes.

Review 13:The location is great and the rooms comfortable. Provided us with a great base for exploring Tallinn - it's really close to the tram stop if you want to see more than just the old town and its within walking distance of the ferry terminal.

Review 14:Breakfast was awful unfortunately, Bad choice and food wasn't fresh at all.

Review 15:Location was very good, rooms were cosy and warm and bed was very comfy! Wifi was great.

Review 16:Not the best breakfast No double bed, be carefull not to fall down in the middle ;)

Review 17:Very nice location in the center so easy access to the city center

Review 18:Close to the harbour, at the heart of old town, decent breakfast. Our room was at the 4th floor with a nice view over the rooftops of old town. Not much to complain.

Review 19:Poor breakfast with very little variety. Small room, but it was enough for us.

Review 20:Great location in the Old Town near Fat Margaret tower. Quiet room, comfort bed, clean towels.

Review 21:No 'bad' experience, but some of the staff are a little sullen and not very receptive to their guests! The windows are difficult to open, however we did manage ok. The beds are very close together in some rooms, but adequate once we changed rooms.

Review 22:The comfort of the beds and the linen was very good, together with the general cleanliness. Located just within the City walls was brilliant and very close to the Port and an easy walk of the Seaplane Museum.

Review 23:it was quite noisy in the morning due to trucks delivering and picking up goods. Our rooms was on ground level next to the unload area.

Review 24:Location, beds, friendly staff, possibility to have your breakfast on the terrace outside

Review 25:Noisy for the rooms on the street side (mine was). The breakfast is the worst part, it is absolutely to be improved: smashed eggs from powder eggs, sweet side is poor and with low quality products, coffee is terrible, etc.

Review 26:Room was small but ok. Bed is quite soft but comfortable. Location is good.

Review 27:It's on the edge on the Old Town, which is good. It's right on one end of the longest part of the city wall. But there's a main road right at the back side. It can be a bit noisy. The basement rooms are with windows and clean and adequate. The bed is comfy.

Review 28:Our windows opened onto a very busy road so if traffic keeps you awake be sure to have ear plugs. They do not offer parking as stated on site. You must park in a city parking lot and be sure to purchase a ticket as you park. Parking is 6 Euros a day.

Review 29:the location was perfect for the old town - right on the edge so it isn't full of tourists but close to all sites Nice Breakfast

Review 30:Bathroom covered with mould. More than distinctive traffic noise from the road next to the hotel, and bumping bass from I don't know where 'til the wee hours.

Review 31:Great location. Friendly staff. Good wifi.

Review 32:Room was exceptionally small, so was the bathroom. It can be a little loud due to bypassing people

Review 33:Excellent location, in the heart of Tallinn old town. Parking available in the near

Review 34:Parking is expensive however they will direct you to a local lot for 6 euros for 24 hours. Try and avoid as this area is known for many car break-ins.

Review 35:So you pay extra for the ovation and the ambience however you get an old hotel. Rooms were on the small side and not the most modern. Tiny bathroom that could use a renovation. Breakfast was fine although the tiny Russian restaurant on remises can get crowded. Not sure what they do in high season.

Review 36:There was mold in the bath room and I mentioned that to a young boy in the reseption and he did not say a word back. The girls in the breakfast put theur own music on so there was music on tv and the radio playing in the same time. When I checked in I had to wait for it about 15 minutes. There were no staff around when I arrived.

Review 37:The balcony was nice.

Review 38:A main challenge during our stay was super tiny "Family Room" with one room literally filled with two single beds joined into one, and another "room"/corridor with a single bed just in front of the door. There is no ventilation either (the hole in the shower's ceiling ain't working too). You can either open the windows (sic! the first floor) or turn on the fan with its head falling from its leg.

Review 39:The hotel is located on the edge of the Old Tallinn, making the main historical part of the city reachable on feet. Restoran "U Natashi" serves tasty Russian cuisine.

Review 40:The dirty towels from the previous guest were still in the bathroom when I entered the room, so I got a new room. The quality of breakfast was a bit poor: you could feel that the cake, pancakes, croissants were not fresh.

Review 41:The view from the room. Location.

Review 42:Because there was no air conditioning and it was hot, we had to have the window open in our room. Unfortunately it was so noisy that it was almost impossible to sleep.

Review 43:We liked the Russian Restaurant

Review 44:Excellent experience. The hotel is very well located, in the heart of the old town. Supreme relation in between the quality and the price. Very clean rooms, powerful wifi signal, modern toilettes, and efficient (and ready to serve) personnel at the front desk.

Review 45:The room offered had no opening window, view, or air con. It was changed but beware they exist and are not nice. The restaurant had closed at 20.00 hrs so had to go look for supper in the town. If you want a no fuss overnight stop - this isn't it. If you want something interesting, novel with friendly Russian staff it's great, but arrive early . . .

Review 46:The receptionist did everything she could to make up for hotel shortages. Interesting reasonably quiet building

Review 47:A very charming hotel. Great location. Can't hear the outside noise - or your neighbors behind the wall. Lovely breakfast. Super nice and helpful staff! Plus, with the Genius discount, the price was amazingly low.

Review 48:We booked a room with double bed, got two small separate beds. When we went down to clarify, we were told that sorry, no double bed available, push Your beds together...

Review 49:The room(309) was the tiniest room I have ever had anywhere.

Review 50:Good location, polite staff, adequate breakfast. Good value for money, very quiet at night and comfortable bed.

Review 51:The only disadvantage is that there is no parking near the hotel and you have to look for the paid parking (the price varies from 2 to 20 Euro per day)

Review 52:Small, comfortable and clean hotel. Breakfast is included (it's a plus). Hotel stuff is friendly and helpful. Design of the rooms is very nice.

Review 53:upon arrival reception girl not welcoming at all, not even a hint of smile, hardly spoke!?? Breakfast staff no better, trying to get their attention to change an empty coffee pot was almost a mission impossible - hanging on the kitchen door looking at the ceiling and avoiding customers seemed to be much more important:( Room even smaller than expected, one night ok, but cannot imagine any longer stay.

Review 54:location, quiet room ( if you are not placed to the main street side)

Review 55:Décor was dated within the hotel but lovely reception area. The wifi was slow and inconsistent

Review 56:The location which was on the outskirts of the old town and near the port. Very friendly staff.

Review 57:Room pictures nothing like the cramped single room I was provided with - Cramped & dangerous bathroom, with a huge crack running through the basin! I was worried it would fall off & hit my toe... Very unfriendly breakfast staff (as mentioned in other reviews). Providing orange juice was beyond them, with a "couldn't give a damn" attitude.

Review 58:Front desk staff friendly. Wi-fi very fast. Great location close to old town. But the negatives far outweighed the positives, so left after the first night of a three night stay...

Review 59:Service at their restaurant was bad. Raw bacon at breakfast. Beds were okay, but pillows were absolutely terrible!

Review 60:Beautiful rooms, though rather small. Tidy.Service at reception was ok, breakfast was adequate. Quite affordable hotel. Good location.

Review 61:Booking di a mess with our reservation and canceled it with newproposals we don`t want. We had pay a lot more.We had the worst noisyroom for it and we can`t sleep first night.

Review 62:THE stuff was nice and gave us a new good room next morning when I wasspent a night walking around. Breackfast is best!

Review 63:Bed was weird - the matresses where moving and we kept falling into the gap between 2 matresses - not for young couples. And as the windows are to quite active road direction there was lot of noise. No air contitioner. Breakfast was suposed to be untill 10:30 on sunday and when we arrived there 9:50 there was hardly anything left and people where still arriving.

Review 64:Hotel location, staff was friendly and the room was warm.

Review 65:3 person room was realy very small - 2 very small rooms, there were one small wardrobe, very tight. Busy hours on the morning - some difficulties with water - difficult to get worm water.

Review 66:Buffe breakfast average good, parking 300 meters 6 EUR / 24 hours., many TV programms, location at the entrance of old town - short walking way to restaurants.

Review 67:the room we had (105) was very small and had no tea/coffee making facilities. also we was in the back of hotel overlooking a main road which was very busy.

Review 68:the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. the location is ok as you are in a courtyard on the edge of old town and as the locals say everything is 10 minutes away in tallinn.

Review 69:The room was very small and noisy, the windows couldn't be closed well. The moquette on the floor was very dirty and bed smelling, the walls were dirty and with several cracks. The sheets on the bed were very small and seemed to be also already used. The towels for toilette were really small. There wasn't the hairdryer. In the evening the heater was switched off and the room seemed a bit cold. About the breakfast there wasn't any sweety or fruit.

Review 70:Good position. Good wifi connection in the room

Review 71:Totally misleading website implies the spa is at the hotel, actually a 20 minute trek away. No tea/coffee in rooms (as pictured on the website). First room we were given smelled awful. New one okay, but not cleaned well - a deodorant from a previous occupant lying on the floor. Our son, daughter and grandchildren were given a family room which was in the basement next to the road. Air circulation dreadful and opening a window to allow breathing resulted in traffic noise keeping everyone awake all night. We were charged an extra €15 for this awful experience. This room should not be used as a bedroom. Breakfast just adequate.

Review 72:Receptionist very pleasant. Allowed early check in. Luggage room was handy for leaving baggage after check out

Review 73:Room was quite small, there was some old dust on the lamps and some dents on the wall, where tv has been attached previously.

Review 74:location, breakfast, staff

Review 75:We had a room for three downstairs. The equipment were not complete. The room was dark and as the ring road passed one meter away from the window, the noise was incredible. We all slept badly and I had to leave early for a business meeting. Also the breakfast was very average and when my wife and son were going there 9.30 the staff was already collecting the things away. We had reserved for two nights, but as we wanted to sleep also we tried to change the room. Did not succeed so we wanted to change to the other Meriton (Spa). We succeeded, but we had to pay for the both nights at Meriton Old town! To me this is incredible as we were not satisfied at all. Also I think the info received was misleading. I have not had experience like this ever before with Booking and I want never to have again. I paid 100 € extra for nothing.

Review 76:Location

Review 77:We received a very small room on the last floor (lower ceiling) eventhough the hotel was quite empty. Rooms and furniture are rather old andmake a bad impression. Bad smell from the toilet. Shower protected onlyby a shower courtain, no shower cabin.

Review 78:The mainhall and the restraurant where the breakfast is served look veryelegant. Breakfast is fair but not mind-blowing. Access to a very nicespa in a sister hotel some 25 minutes walk from the hotel. Location inthe old town (quiet part).

Review 79:Bed wasn't a double but two singles put together. Breakfast was good, except the juice had a real artificial flavor to it.

Review 80:Great location, value and comfort. Room wasn't too big but also not small, just fine. Bed and pillows comfortable and everything seemed clean. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite complete.

Review 81:when we arrived we booked a two single bed, but it was only one, the bedrrom was stinking, bad smelling, like it was closed for years, the cerâmica wasnt cleaned, the room was very small, almost no space for luggage, the hotel sent a taxi to the airport that chared us in 20 euros, when the rie was 16,40.

Review 82:The employee was very helpfull, doing everything she could to help us.

Review 83:No toiletries No hairdryer The window of my basement room faced the road and there was quite a bit of traffic noise

Review 84:Good breakfast with reasonable amount of choice Very well located within the old city.

Review 85:Small room, no coffee/tea making facilities, bathroom very small.

Review 86:Located in old town within walking distance from the train station. Free internet connection.

Review 87:Poor WiFi in the rooms (not stable) - only in the lobby and the restaurant OK. Style a little bit outdated ... but for the price you can not not expect a design hotel.

Review 88:Very friendly and helpfull staff. Located at the border of the old town, you find bars and restaurants in walking distance. The Hotel has a small café / restaurant where they serve in the morning breakfast. Breakfast is OK.

Review 89:Nothing to dislike at all.

Review 90:Historical beautiful location within city walls. Free spa access to sister hotel Meriton Grand. Good room with view of St. Olaf's church. Reasonable breakfast and good value for money city break.

Review 91:Rooms were a bit small, and also too cold. Had to pay a lot for parking.

Review 92:Location was great, right in Old Town. We really enjoyed the spa and sauna center visit. Good variety for breakfast.

Review 93:I wouldn't say that the stuff was rude but they could have been more friendly.

Review 94:Easy to find, close to the good restaurants and sights. You can use the spa which was in walking distance. Good value for money.

Review 95:Nothing! The whole crew at the hotel met my every need!

Review 96:Loved that bed! Got the best sleep I've had in a long long time! The staff was great, helpful, and courteous!

Review 97:The location is perfect right on the edge of the old town and only 10-15 minute walk from the harbour, the staff where very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfy and rooms where clean, great value for money.

Review 98:Coffee was average

Review 99:My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at the Meriton Old Town Hotel. It is 5 minutes from the town square and it was easy to find. The hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was small but clean and comfortable, the breakfast was adequate. We would use this hotel again

Review 100:If you don't like your bathroom door next to the bed, not for you.

Review 101:Great location at the top end of the old town, close to all the sights and within walking distance of the port. Comfortable, quiet room with a good view; friendly, helpful staff. Nothing luxurious, but excellent value at the price.

Review 102:The location is very good. It is in the old town. The rooms are clean, the bathroom is a bit old, but it was not a problem for us. The breakfast was good. The breakfast starts at 7:00 am and we had to leave about 06:45am but they let us have a breakfast before the breakfast time and this was a kind attitude.

Review 103:Small but clean rooms. Bit disappointed there was no bath. Sister hotel in city has a great spa which u can use but we didn't know so had no swimming kit.

Review 104:Fab staff. Fairy tale like hotel.

Review 105:Breakfasts were not very good. My room was partially under a sloping eave but since I was alone this didn't matter and it may have been the reason why the room was a very good price.

Review 106:Location in Old Town, although it is to one end--this did not concern me because the whole Old Town is small. Hotel is almost built into the Town Wall, which is atmospheric. Location is close to ferry. Hotel was clean and tidy and my stay in early October was excellent value.

Review 107:-there was no hairdryer (but that was announced)

Review 108:-Location!!! -Interior -Breakfast Comfort, cosy hotel with perfect location. The room was clean everywhere- sheets, floore, wardrobe, toilet, shower. The breakfast was very tasty- vegetables, omelette, pancakes, coffee. The personnel was rather welcoming and speaking Russian.

Review 109:The room was a little cramped, but was otherwise fine. Wifi was not available in the room, but we were able to access it in the lobby and the restaurant

Review 110:Location was good for the old town and the port

Review 111:- very small room (around 6m²) - the sheets were to small, they kept unfolding so we were basically sleeping right on the mattress (hygene...) - lots of noise coming from the fast way right outside - too many downside for this price (80€/night)

Review 112:- location in the old town

Review 113:The reception woke me up in the middle of my sleep, in the morning, because she wanted to verify if they can clean the room. It's truethat the card "please don't disturb" etc. is on very lightpaper and it dropped on the floor but one has to be really stupid to dowhat that receptionist did!! Wait until the end of the cleaning serviceat 3 pm!!!

Review 114:Location, close to bus stop

Review 115:Room facing to the road - heavy traffic ouside is very noicy! Restaurant closing at 9:00 PM

Review 116:Clean and Cozy Smart choice - value for money Very center of Old Town - Ideal location Hospitality of staff Decent breakfast Free WiFi Rennovated old building

Review 117:rooms are quite small, but if you are onky there for sleeping, uts sufficient. hair dryer was nit available in room but could be borrowed at reception.

Review 118:location ans breakfast were good.

Review 119:Room too small, no space between bed and window, no space for the luggage, very poor bathroom. Weak internet when we were lucky to have access. I would recomend the hotel if better rooms are availbale and if the internet works properly

Review 120:Very small room and even smaller bathroom (it was the smallest hotel room i ever saw during my noumerous trips). No air conditioner, no proper ventilation so we need to stay with windows open and we faced the noise of a very circulated street. I had the impression that i slept in the middle of the crossroads full of cars or F1 race. Very inconfortable bed, the mattresses slip down from the bed.

Review 121:located in the old city, but close to a very circulated and noisy road

Review 122:Next to a 2 lane one-way street. Noisy even by closed windows, no chance for sleeping and having fresh air in same time. Lid of electric kettle was broken, fridge was not functioning. Limited packing options for clothes.

Review 123:Good location, most sights of old town are in close proximity. Staff was helpful. Building is in good condition, nice interior design.

Review 124:The room was very small. We could not hardly sleep as it was too hot. Our room was on the ground floor and we could see people walking though the window which we felt unsafe.

Review 125:Good location. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Review 126:Spa facility in other hotel 20min further Got a room in the basement which smelled really bad and was clearly humid all the time. To get some fresh air we opened the window but this was even worse since the room window opened on a very very busy street and the noise was just unbearable. Would not recommend meriton at all

Review 127:Spa facility

Review 128:Air conditioning would be a welcome addition. We almost roasted, even at night with the windows open, during our stay in mid-July. The mattress was also not the best for sleeping, almost sponge like.

Review 129:The hotel is very well located and the staff helpful. It was good value for money, the building was nice, very clean and quite calm.

Review 130:Very dirty place, bathroom smelly, small room, in summer is very hot and they dont provide fan, poor breakfast, just one girl serving breakfasf. Not internet in my room. Never again in this hotel....

Review 131:The girls from the front desk trying to help me a lot.

Review 132:A lot of dust on the carpets, not only in the rooms (we saw several rooms) but also in the hall. The standard rooms are very, very small. There is no space for two big suitcases. Bathroom in the standard rooms is very small (the first room we stayed in had a shower size 60 x 110 cm.) Beds are normal size, suitable for a person with height 1,75. During peakseason the rooms are overprised, would advice to choose a big hotel in the city centre for the same price.

Review 133:Helpfull staff. Tram and port on walkingdistance. At the outside of the old city. Computer available.

Review 134:Extremely noisy with 2 lane road facing the window. Poor interior, not even a ventilator in summer and very low quality in furniture and bath. Wifi does not work in rooms. Had to change my room to the same size, same bed type and had to pay a horrendous upgrade for the same room type! Very poor service, too

Review 135:Nothing!

Review 136:The room was not cleaned properly, it was quite dirty. Feedback did not have any influence. No AC in the room. No parking space outside the hotel. Breakfest.

Review 137:Nice terrace.

Review 138:Lacked some air in the rooms one VERY hot days. A fan would have been nice. I was ascribed a basement room in the working spaces of the hotel, which was not great. But they changed it with no problem when I asked.

Review 139:Location, charm of the building, very helpful staff, simple breakfast, very clean.

Review 140:The room is very crammed. I was given a room on the ground floor and sercurity wise is very poor, one could easily climb in through the windows. And I was there in summer and there is no air condtioner in the room. thus I need to open the windows to cool the room but felt totally unsafe with room so easily access through the windows from outside. The motor bikes parking lot is just below my window, thus you can imagine the noise. Never stay on the ground floor, unless during the months when you can keep the windows closed at all times. the room also come with the tiniest bath and toilets, thus uncomfortable. Breakfast is the same usual basic food everyday and price of 15 euro, I consider expensive. Staff is rather impersonal. I would consider this hotel not worth the money paid for.

Review 141:Well it is within the old town wall although not right in the centre of it.
