Reviews for Hotel Alga

Review 1:Being so close to the village centre and yet quiet and with the lovely well-tended gardens and pool area. The bar served best gin and tonic and a really pleasant area. Lots of space to relax all around the hotel & grounds. Very spacious room with comfortable bed.

Review 2:Lack of wifi which meant that we had to go elsewhere to carry out some transactions. Other guests were complaining too. The staff are in denial about this matter but they are selling a service that isn't available....

Review 3:The gardens, pool and dinner.

Review 4:I thought even the so called superior rooms were rather cramped and basic, with not much in the way of towels, bed linen etc, although they were spotlessly clean. This was a shame as overall I thought it was a good hotel and I would stay there again.

Review 5:The staff throughout the hotel were lovely and extremely helpful. The restaurant food was very good and they were willing to accommodate fussy eaters! The swimming pool was also very clean and good for swimming. The location was excellent for access to the beaches and the town.

Review 6:THE MINUTE WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL WE WERE VERY VERY IMPRESSED. THE HOTEL ITSELF, THE ROOM WAS BEAUTIFUL. LOVELY VIEW AND THE STAFF WERE LOVELY. THEY MADE OUR STAY REALLY ENJOYABLE AND WE WILL MOST CERTAINLY BE BACK. THE BREAKFAST WAS LOVELY, PLENTY CHOICE AND WE DID NOT KNOW WE WERE ALSO BOOKED IN FOR DINNER IN THE EVENING, WHICH WAS A LOVELY SURPRISE AND THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. THE GARDENS ALONE ARE LOVELY AND YOU CAN SIT AND RELAX IN THE GARDEN. WE FELT THE STAFF WERE ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE SURE OUR HOLIDAY WAS FANTASTIC.

Review 7:We had a big noisy tube outside the launderette facilities right in front of our balcony that went off when the cleaners were using the washing machines. This happened during 2 or more hours every time between 9 and 8pm and meant that there was a annoying noise that wasn´t even silenced when having our door closed. When we mentioned it to the hotel staff they didn´t offer to change our room and said that it only lasted a couple of hours a day, although we encountered the noise several times during our 3 day stay. The beds, although confortable, were also noisy. We found the hotel quite expensive for the state that the facilities were in. Although the swimming pool was good, the changing room and toilet facilities outside it weren´t in good condition and had damp insects in them. Definitely not 4 stars.

Review 8:The location and the swimming pool were good. The breakfast was also quite decent.

Review 9:We did not appreciate that our deposit was charged to us in Canadian dollars rather than Euros, which is cheaper than being charged in Canadian dollars without asking us.

Review 10:The staff was very helpful from arranging transportation from Barcelona to the hotel and back to giving us our room when we arrived early.

Review 11:Would be nice to have more sun beds by the pool and some umbrellas for shade. It was nice we could move the sun beds under the tree but as everyone does this it gets a bit busy. A mirror somewhere in the bedrooms would be helpful.

Review 12:Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Everything you need for a family holiday, great pool, kids loved the table tennis and lots of space in the lovely garden. Plenty to do in the town which is a few minutes walk, lovely restaurants and close to beach.

Review 13:The only downside was the kids pull down beds were a bit hard.

Review 14:Staff were very pleasant and very helpful. My daughter was ill and they organised everything from doctors appointment to taxis and made a dinner for her that wasn't on the menu.

Review 15:The only small down side was that there weren't enough sun loungers around the pool and couldn't get wifi around pool ( we went with teenagers!)

Review 16:It's a lovely calm, spacious Hotel with lovely views and easy access to the town and beach. Breakfasts were great and plenty of it. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Amazing Gin & Tonics!! Would go again in not so high season.

Review 17:The pool attracts families. A lot of families. It only takes one screaming fit throwing kid in any language to ruin breakfast.

Review 18:The hotel is well located in town and the breakfast is really great-both food and service. The service at the hotel was great overall. We had bikes and SUP boards so we parked in the garage. Once we knew how it worked, it went smoothly.

Review 19:Breakfast was very average for so called 4*. The room smelled a bit of damp or drains, I think it was one of the non refurbished one's. We changed to another Hotel in Llafranc after two nights. Please try and get the ratings correct on your Website, if this Hotel is not 4* then you should state it!

Review 20:Position of Hotel, garden and pool area were good but not 4* as it says on the Booking.com Website. Short walk from Centre and Sea.

Review 21:Wi-Fi not great in the room and we were a bit disappointed that tea and coffee was from a machine at breakfast.

Review 22:Lovely garden and pool plus tennis and table tennis. Very helpful staff and a good selection at breakfast. The room was comfortable if a little dated - the sea-view rooms with a balcony are definitely worth the extra cost. A short walk down to the lovely harbour with various good restaurants and lovely walks either way along the coastal path.

Review 23:No drawers! No kettle etc and no staff to ask for drinks/snacks. Admittedly, we were late season, but this hotel also has a very very bad red ant problem in the garden, which meant everyone got bitten around the pool.

Review 24:Staff were friendly and helpful, when we could find them. Quiet situation away from bars etc.

Review 25:WiFi not very stable and quite slow

Review 26:Nice hotel in a green garden, spacious clean room, delicious breakfast. Walking distance to the small town center and the sea. Big swimming pool

Review 27:The Alga is very well located a short 5 minute stroll from the beautiful fishing village. The rooms on one side have a very good view of the village and the coast / sea beyond. The hotel facilities are very good including a shallow swimming pool suitable for very young children. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I expect to visit this hotel again.

Review 28:We booked a double room with a balcony and sea view. This was notavailable so we were upgraded to a family, room 122. It was veryspacious and looked great at first. That night, when we tried to sleep,we could hear a loud humming sound. We traced it to the wall of ourbedroom. We discovered we were above the kitchens and the huge extractorfan vent pipe was attached to our bedroom wall. We had an uncomfortablenight on the sofa bed in the adjacent room. The hotel moved us toanother room the next afternoon, but we had lost one night out of two.Do not accept room 122.

Review 29:Lovely hotel, beautiful gardens, great pool area, spacious lounges andgood location. Book a room with a sea view, but not room 122.

Review 30:Amazing location, town and beaches are wonderful. Great breakfast Lovely staff, very kind and accommodating. Beautiful grounds and pool. Perfect holiday for babies.

Review 31:We liked the view from our room, the pool and the excellent and friendly staff. Also the location is perfect to walk to the local town and its many restaurants and access to the coastal walks.

Review 32:Nothing, we will be back.

Review 33:That our children and grandchildren were allowed to use the pool and other facilities although they were not staying at the hotel. it made our stay much more enjoyable.

Review 34:The menu was overly fussy. Some of the dishes were too elaborate and didn't really work as finished meals.

Review 35:The room was excellent and breakfast was very good, with an excellent choice. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Review 36:Breakfast has very little choice, wi-fi works only in some part of the hotel.

Review 37:Family room was great with good view over the pool and sea, pool is big and well situated so you have sun most of the day.

Review 38:The grounds are beautiful, the pool impressively large and the rooms comfortable. Great location, a short stroll from the town and beaches. The buffet breakfast was excellent.

Review 39:Too many flies in the restaurant toilet

Review 40:Location , restaurant and it's staff , great steaks and a chef who mixes up the safe and the unusual, great pool,

Review 41:Nothing really - the car park was full and we had to park on the street but we didn't arrive until 8pm and it wasnt an issue for us

Review 42:Great hotel with lovely grounds Nice size room with modern fittings Dog friendly Great pool and bar area

Review 43:dinner not to our taste (even though we consider ourselves adventurous). Rooms cramped compared with other 4 star hotels in the area

Review 44:large heated pool, good facilities for children, gardens. Worth paying extra for a balcony with views over the garden to the sea

Review 45:Very small lift, breakfast vey haphazard, though lots of staff. No leadership .

Review 46:Location was good, only a stone throw from the beach and restaurants. Staff very helpfull. Nice rooms. All over very good.

Review 47:We moved rooms for our last 2 nights and our double bed was very small

Review 48:I liked its proximity to the beach, excellent breakfast lovely pool area and gardens

Review 49:The hotel room looked out at a blank wall. Not nearly enough sun loungers around the pool, only 26 for a hotel that accommodates at least 120 people. They charge 4 euros per person to use a small paddle court, which I felt should of been free for hotel guests. Not got much variety in the breakfast selection, had to ask for things. Our toilet was out of order twice and they didn't replenish the cosmetic products in the bathroom...again I had to keep asking. Generally I felt it was hard work and didn't think they made even fuss of us, for the amount we paid.

Review 50:Lovely area, nice gardens and good standard of accommodation.

Review 51:No bedside tables or pictures in the bedroom. Very stark Only plastic glasses !

Review 52:Games facilities although the table tennis bats were hardly useable Great breakfast.

Review 53:Very friendly staff. Grounds were nice. Pool was good. Relaxed atmosphere. Cleaning staff good. Food was good. Really overall a very nice place to stay.

Review 54:The world cup was on, and there was very limited coverage on the hotel TV. We had a fancy espresso machine in each room with 2 cups and spoons, but only 2 coffee capsules provided. When I asked if we could have more capsules, I was told we had to buy them at the supermarket. Strange to put these costly machines in the room, and then not give guests the capsules to use them.

Review 55:Great for a family, as the grounds and swimming pool are large, and there's a parking lot for guests. We had 2 ground level family rooms for our family of 6. Very modern and clean. There was ample room for three beds in each, and a large sunny patio off of each room with a 5 ft high white mesh screen separating our patio from the public patio area. I first thought this would bother me, but it did not, as the guests rarely use the public patio area. The town is a 5 minute walk away through the hotel garden gate. Staff were very accomodating of our needs, and the dinners were excellent. Breakfast was decent, but nothing to rave about, but the two dinners we had there were first class. They also have a kids menu, we had a small empty fridge in each room. We would definitely recommend this hotel. The hotels we saw directly on the beach had no breathing space, small rooms, and no parking. The Alga was perfect for our family.

Review 56:Didn't like family room - double bed was two beds pushed together- would expect a double bed

Review 57:Great location, lots of family amenities

Review 58:The lack of local taxis

Review 59:The tranquility of the gatden

Review 60:everything

Review 61:Good rooms with sea view, and good sized balcony

Review 62:booking.com charged double room rate for s ingle occupancy hotel would have given reduction

Review 63:friendly staff lovely gardens and pool

Review 64:Fantastic location and great hotel. Would definitely return.

Review 65:The facility

Review 66:Very noisy children running around corridors late at night. Staff were unapologetic

Review 67:Pool and grounds

Review 68:Demi-pension excellente,

Review 69:Wished the pool stayed open later. Also wished there were a hot tub

Review 70:Loved it all!

Review 71:Excellent pool and garden area. Beers served at pool. Paddle tennis and table tennis. 2 minutes walk to restaurants and beaches.

Review 72:Very quiet hotel and resort

Review 73:Keys kept getting demagnetized

Review 74:Calm place

Review 75:Horrible bathroom smell not fixed by the staff

Review 76:Location, the hotel area and especially the great bartender (ahmed)

Review 77:Very friendly and helpful staff. Poolside restaurant excellent. Calm atmosphere. Terrific view from our room - i think room 219.

Review 78:Pobre senal de wifi en el dormitorio principal.

Review 79:La ubicación y la relacion calidad - precio.

Review 80:Charge for parking - 10 euros a day

Review 81:Location

Review 82:Excellent choice at breakfast, great for kids!

Review 83:No bad experience!

Review 84:The really friendly service......

Review 85:- gut breakfast but not to many options

Review 86:- good location , parking , clean , nice view , the staff

Review 87:Room a bit small

Review 88:Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Quiet room. Nice pool. Very close to the beach. Parking.

Review 89:Triple room was a little small. More sunloungers needed.

Review 90:Excellent staff, location and grounds.

Review 91:This was our second stay at Hotel Alga, and we will return for our third. Very nice staff, good food and a very charming place!

Review 92:too many flies in bathroom nearest restaurant

Review 93:the food in the restaurant was excellent and the overall can do attitude of the staff was really nice

Review 94:No Wi-Fi in my room even though the receptionist said there was Wi-Fi in all rooms had to use Wi-Fi in the lobby

Review 95:Lack of coffee/ tea facilities in the rooms.

Review 96:A very enjoyable stay. The hotel Alga has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Would also recommend to families with young children.

Review 97:Would prefer fresh coffee to be served for breakfast, not from machine.

Review 98:It´s not easy to find a place for a family with 3 little kids but Hotel Alga was great, very friendly and accomodating staff and great garden for the kids to play in. We will definitely go back again later in the year when the pool opens. Highly recommended for families. Great walk along the coast to Llafranc.

Review 99:staff very friendly and helpful hence a good relaxing atmosphere. hotel is well located for beach and local shops and well situated if you enjoy walking driving or cycling.

Review 100:Black mould on walls in lounge Overall decoration very dated If thehotel charged 50% less then it would be value for money

Review 101:Location Cleanliness Staff Garden

Review 102:The facilities were excellent - great pool, tennis court, outdoor bar, basketball court, table tennis and pool table. The food was excellent at the restaurant and well priced. The town is beautiful and unspoilt.

Review 103:I went by myself with two kids age 7 and 4. Had fantastic time. Pool is great and there is a little play park in the shade on the back of it. Breakfast with a good choice. Hotel is only 5 min up the hill from the beach. Overall very good!

Review 104:Nothing

Review 105:Calm, quiet, very good staff, always friendly, very comfortable beds, amazing seaview balcony, lovely garden and huge pool. Fantastic breakfast, fantastic evening menu.

Review 106:There were no bedside cabinets, a decidedly minus point. The standard of food was poor. Last year we enjoyed the meals but this year some dishes we had to leave.

Review 107:We were glad to have chosen a room with balcony overlooking the pool with a view of the beautiful gardens. There were many areas in the gardens to relax in sunshine or in shade. Loungers were plentiful round the pool. The public rooms were spacious and delightfully decorated.

Review 108:The triple room was really a double room with an extra bed added in,meaning it was a bit small. Most dishes on the evening/lunch menurequired you to be a big fish/shellfish eater/happy to eat veal(which is very common in Spain). More sunloungers are needed for highseason - this leads to towel-saving going on.

Review 109:Excellent location - just out of town, but minutes away from Calella andthe coast. Amazing views from the balcony and the grounds arebeautifully maintained. Great communal areas. Reallyfriendly/helpful staff. It's ideal in size, enclosure andfacilities for people with small children who want a non-resort-stylebreak but as it's not a huge hotel anyway, the children were not adisturbance to those of us without who wanted to relax.

Review 110:Restaurant meals not so good. Little atmosphere in restaurant in the evening.

Review 111:Staff very helpful and kind. Great location. Good pool. Fantastic breakfasts! Very comfortable.

Review 112:Room we first got was very old and did not resemble the pictures in their web-site. When pointing this out, the staff were very helpful and we were given a better room.

Review 113:Very good location close to the beach. Nice big garden and pool.

Review 114:No art in older rooms. No extra bed pillows in either rooms. Bathroom sinks were ugly in older rooms.

Review 115:Liked the friendly staff and other nice people staying at the hotel. Drinks were low priced. Nice pool atmosphere, good service. Very good value for money. Felt safe in hotel. Quiet area for families. We had two rooms, one older and one newer. New rooms were pleasant and housekeeping did a nice job each day. Breakfast was included and was quite good. Hotel gardens were lovely and well cared for. Lots of couples, families and retired people on holiday together. Short walk to beach and other cafes/bars/restaurants.

Review 116:We have stayed at the Hotel several times and have always been extremely satisfied but unfortunately we were very disappointed and annoyed this year - for instance on arrival we were informed that there was now a charge of 7.5 e per night use the car park, non of the usual complimentary soaps etc normally found in Hotel bathroom. You got the impression that they were cutting corners to cut costs I think it is time for us to find another Hotel

Review 117:This is the first year we have had to pay for Car parking.

Review 118:We have stayed in the Alga on several occasions and find it welcoming and very friendly. The reception staff speak good English and are very helpful. The food is of a good standard.

Review 119:They charge 7€ for parking (free street parking outside).

Review 120:Super friendly and helpfull staff! Stayed with three children 0 - 7years and they all had a great time! The food is amazing (both adultsand children) We had half board and could swap the three courselunch/dinner for tapas/snacks by the pool which was excellenttoo! Beautiful green garden to relax and play, plus tennis andbasketball court. 4 minutes to walk to the beach and beach-restaurants.Nice pools. Great ocean view from the balcony! Nice modern familyroomwith a sliding door to separate the room to two "rooms". Wehad a great stay! :)

Review 121:Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Cooked itemsserved cold at breakfast (eggs and beans). It was not clear that themicrowave needed to be used to warm them up.

Review 122:Cleanliness and style of the hotel. Friendly staff, nothing too muchtrouble. Good selection of breakfast food.

Review 123:Very spacious, older style renovated hotel. Grounds beautiful, pool extremely large. Secure parking. Very convenient location. Staff extremely helpful.

Review 124:The room was big and clean, very modern. Excellent bathroom. Pool area and gardens were very well maintained and attractive. Not far from beach and village. This would be good in the peak season as you could get away from the crowds if necessary.

Review 125:It would have been good if there had been tea making facilities in the room.

Review 126:The staff were excellent and very friendly both at reception and in the dining area. We had a problem with the heating and they were able to resolve it and offered compensation. Very professional and helpful. The rooms were airy and fresh. Lovely decor.

The Fine Print
