Reviews for Hotel Telegraaf

Review 1:* Room too small for a 5* hotel, not really convenient * Breakfast poor organized (waiting line, permanent lack of coffee)

Review 2:* Fantastic location in the very center of "everything" * Friendly and helpful staff * Very good equipped bathroom * Interesting furnishing conception

Review 3:The staff could use more training, breakfast buffet could have been better.

Review 4:The location was amazing, classic design, beautiful architecture. Nice and quiet rooms, super soft bed and fantastic pillows. Wonderful bathtub, great fireplace in the lounge.

Review 5:Our room on the 5th floor looked directly to a wall. The floor in the spa facilities often stayed wet and slippery for too long. During breakfast, a couple of times we had to alert the staff about the missing food at the buffet. The heating in the room was not strong enough, it took hours for it to go up only one degree and it was blowing directly on the bed.

Review 6:The style, the spa, the room size, parquet floor in the room, breakfast, Tchaikovsky restaurant and location.

Review 7:Nothing really.

Review 8:A beautiful hotel in the heart of Tallinn. The staff was amazingly welcoming and helpful (especially Valeria). All facilities are very good, the hotel is clean. Great restaurant named after famed composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Enjoyed our holiday stay there. Also, location-wise: it is just in the center of the old town, which is very convenient for all who want to explore the historic part of the city.

Review 9:personnel is understaffed, we waited forever at the reception desk to check in only one person was behind the counter, no effort was done to get more personnel there. Breakfast service was simply not there: two young girls, very obviously left alone with the huge task of serving all guests in the breakfast room. In our opinion the lack of organisation made the breakfast a hell of waiting for the table, the coffee, ... The room where we stayed had poor WiFi.

Review 10:location is in the old town, restaurants, sightseeing spots, shops and bars are close. The porter we met delivered an excellent service.

Review 11:Good food and plenty of staff but no organisation at breakfast. People wandering round looking for cups, dishes, plates, waiting for 20 minutes to be served coffee. Give customers coffee on the table along with plates and dishes, appoint a manager and organise the staff. Job done.

Review 12:The location is excellent and the quality of the room and bed was high standard.

Review 13:We had to wait 25min in line for check-out. This should not happen in an hotel of this category.

Review 14:Everything reachable by feet Lots of things to see around and restaurants

Review 15:Room was not properly cleaned up on arrival. Old hotel slippers were under the bed and dust on the floor. It was cleaned very fast after informing the reception, though. And okay, we arrived on the 1.1.16

Review 16:Wonderful hotel in the middle of Tallinns very beautiful old town. Professional staff. Fantastic restaurant Tchaikovsky is in the house. A "must try" for foodies. Good bed linen and bathroom. Free overnight shoe cleaning, complementary water bottles and more nice details are available. No time for the Spa, but it looks nice.

Review 17:We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 18:The staff were kind and attentive, the food was excellent, the facilities were wonderful and our overall experience was perfect.

Review 19:Missed a gym, would have expected that when having the spa facilities. Also the price a bit high to standard

Review 20:Great location, nice and helpful staff, good breakfast,

Review 21:I just loved it! Helpful and friendly staff, exellent food and most of all comfortable bed and beautiful, well-decorated room! Best five star hotel in Tallinna!!

Review 22:room was dark, pillows too soft, room maintenance needed especially in bathroom as many pieces were loose

Review 23:good location but after midnight with luggage I had to walk to the hotel as taxi was not able to bring me to the hotel

Review 24:We arrived on Saturday at 14.00 Hours, first impression nobody at the door to welcome you, keep in mind this is a 5 star hotel and one of the most expensive ones in town. Secondly at the desk we got the message your room is not ready, should normally be ready after 16:00 hours, please give us your phone number and we call you when it is ready earlier. A bit strange to have your international guests waiting (who traveled 2000km) in a 5 star hotel. We left are suitcases and went in to town which is really really nice. We arrived back at 15.50 and asked if the room was ready, (we did not received any call) yes we where in luck because the room was just ready. Lady at the desk I am not sure about what your standard is, but when I am paying a lot of money for a 5 star hotel ( one of the most expensive ones in town) then it is not our luck that we can stay in your hotel it is your luck we do (we are the guests remember!). Room was nice nothing to complain there. The worst experience was the Sunday morning breakfast. We arrived at 09.30 at the breakfast, it was was busy not enough space for the guest, we where seated at a dirty table with all the remains on it from the previous guests (YOU CANNOT DO THAT IN A 5 STAR HOTEL) , they promised to clean up the table in a few minutes. After 10 minutes I asked one if the staff to clean our table, finally she did and we had at least a clean table with no dirty stuff on it. I told my son to get something to eat and I will wait for the staff to bring the forks, knifes, spoons ect.He arrive back after 5 minutes and staff brought nothing. After spending the better part of my life in hotels all over the world this was definitely one of the baddest experiences I had in a hotel. Then I got up and went to one of the staff and got really angry, and told here to take care of our table because this is ridiculous, we are not at the McDonalds , we are in a 5 star hotel! Sorry, sorry it is so busy and more excuses.

Review 25:The location and the hotel rooms where oke, was clean an nice and located directly in the center of town

Review 26:Room was small. Hardly enough space to walk between end of bed and furniture. Extremely difficult to find somewhere for 2nd suitcase.Bar area clinical and not one where you would want to sit and enjoy

Review 27:Location

Review 28:The most uncomfortable bed I've had in a hotel. While I expected a small room, I didn't expect the window to overlook a wall.

Review 29:Great location, helpful staff and very good breakfast.

Review 30:They stated all rooms had free tea, that was not the case Room and bath too small for a five stars hotel There was a hair on the shower when we entered to the room

Review 31:Friendly and helpful staff Excellent location , in the heart of the old town Good spa and facilities

Review 32:Would have expected a bit more luxorious breakfast buffet. Also getting the room at 4pm seemed a bit late as could not therefore fully enjoy the spa facilities on the day of arrival. Overall a very enjoyable experience anyway!

Review 33:Very classy hotel in the heart of Tallinn old town. Staff was helpful and accommodating to our needs.

Review 34:The bathroom in our room was small. Not what you would expect in a 5 star hotel.

Review 35:The location was in the heart of old town but on a quiet street. The breakfast selection was great. Lots of variety!

Review 36:Location in the heart of the old city, staff with excellent training, very polite and ready to assist with all visitor's requests before and during the stay. Personal compliments to Mrs Karin Tani, the manager. Highly recommended to visitors.

Review 37:as a smoker i would have liked to have a space (bar, designated in-house area) where one can smoke. the website promises free coffee for house guests in the lobby. turned out this was possible only in the morning while breakfast was served, and one could anyhow get coffee in the dining room.

Review 38:perfect location. wonderful helpful staff. great breakfast.

Review 39:The bathroom was on the small size for a 5 star hotel. The checkin staff person was not very friendly. Felt like she wanted to rush us through.

Review 40:The location was great. Right in old town. The breakfast had a lot of variety, including fresh berries.

Review 41:Hot food at breakfast was not hot (we had breakfast three times) and service was quite slow. But the staff are really professional and responsive nonetheless.

Review 42:Everything was great. Super friendly and helpful staff. We used the pool and sauna a couple of times and it was great to have a pool onsite. The location was perfect and the restaurant was great.

Review 43:Location could not be any better really. Hotel is great - spacious comfortable rooms with everything you would need, very helpful and friendly staff, very rich breakfast.

Review 44:Wifi intermittent, shower a little weak. Breakfast a little limited in choice, and " closed" abruptly at 10.30 am and you were asked to hurry up. Needs to open until 11. No gym, and spa good ( good massage!) but tricky to access

Review 45:Tchaikovsky restaurant good, great location, nice sunny garden with service. Pillow menu good choice but complex

Review 46:None

Review 47:The staff was amazing, very professional, but at the same time very warm and personable; our waiter/terrace attending, Karl was great! The hotel is beautiful! I travel internationally a lot and this was the best experience!

Review 48:Nothing really!

Review 49:It's a historical building right in the middle of the old town. Spa is good at a reasonable price. Staff very nice and allowed us to have a late check out until 2:30. Terrence restaurant is serving good food with a lovely lady singing with a small nice band. Good value for money with a small yet luxurious hotel !

Review 50:Too expensive

Review 51:Great location in the middle of Old City. Car parking is offered for 28 euros per day. Polite and friendly stuff, great facilities. Good breakfast. Absolutely fantastic restaurant Tchaikovskiy, should be booked in advance. One of the best places we've ever been.

Review 52:Need to search pretty hard for a criticism of this hotel! Mine would be that TCM is no longer available, which was disappointing since I like to watch old movies at bedtime.

Review 53:We always stay in the "old section" which is absolutely charming. The staff goes out of their way to please. The bathtub is huge and bed is very comfortable.

Review 54:This was out second stay at the hotel and we are looking forward to our third stay. However, this time we thought the vacuuming including the headboard could have been more thorough.

Review 55:Nice spacious room with a wooden floor as we had pre-booked. Spa with a variety of services. A bit luxury for the everyday life.

Review 56:The attention given by staff to their guests. They were all very friendly and helpful and made sure our every request was acted upon. Will stay at this hotel on our next visit to Tallinn.

Review 57:Nothing not to like. everything you would expect from 5 star.

Review 58:Had a quiet room deluxe. 319 best beds I've slept in staff very pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable. pool and spa facilities excellent

Review 59:The only negative was the waitress forgetting our order and the wrong food arriving but this was but right immediately with no fuss and in a polite manner.

Review 60:Excellent location with nice room and friendly staff. Dinner in the restaurant was nice but a little fussy in terms of lots of items on the plate but no complaints.

Review 61:Though wifi during the first day was quite good, the second day the wifi connection was bad. Travelers NEED fast wifi.

Review 62:The location is very good. We also like the traditional style of the hotel...

Review 63:Our executive twin room had a shower over the bath. Walk in showers are so much more practical and easier for all guests.

Review 64:Very spacious, well equipped rooms with super fast wi fi. Extremely friendly, efficient staff. Superb, central location - close to the main square, restaurants, shopping, sightseeing and transport.

Review 65:We loved this hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were amazingly professional, the facilities top notch, the situation in the old town couldn't be better. We had a top floor room, very quiet rooms and the most comfortable beds and pillows. Thank you for the rest we needed after so long on the road!!

Review 66:Service is wonderful,, especially from Mark. He will be moving on to study hotel management and will surely hav a wonderful career. The dinner we had was also outstanding.

Review 67:too little capacity at the spa - there were no availability to book the treatments we really wanted for all of us at the same time.

Review 68:We liked the good service, warm bathroom floor, big towels, central location.

Review 69:We had dinner one night in the hotel dining r9o9om because there would be music during dinner. A group of 20 people were so loud that we could not hear the musicians play.

Review 70:Room was incredibly dirty and staff made personal comments over breakfast, staff re training urgently required in this Hotel

Review 71:Location of Hotel was awesome couldn't be better, facilities were excellent particularly Spa

Review 72:Breakfast was a mess. There weren'r enough tables, it took 10 minutes to even get seated. And another 10 minutes to wait to get it cleaned. Buffet was half empty, including clean plates and glasses.

Review 73:Hotel location and overall atmosphere were 4-5 stars. Room was nice and quality of sleep good

Review 74:Couldn't find any fault.

Review 75:The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The ambience was good and the building had an interesting history having once been the post office and telephone exchange.

Review 76:Breakfast was poor. The bacon was lying in pool of grease. Scrambled egg looked like it was poured from a carton. It just was not presented very well.

Review 77:Everything except breakfast

Review 78:This hotel had a fantastic leisure facility, an amazing breakfast. There is just nothing about this hotel I did not love. I had a massage in the spa, enjoyed the sauna, pool, and the lovely shower in room. I can't wait to go back.

Review 79:Nothing

Review 80:Staff is excellent, helpful, knowledgeable, and speak English. The hotel is well located in old town, but not on one of the noisy squares. The building is beautifully restored and upgraded. We had a large room, the bed was perfect. Windows do open, but with the temperature control we left them closed. Breakfast is excellent and served in their high end restaurant. One of the top hotels we have stayed in world wide.

Review 81:It was almost impossible to get coffee at breakfast. We waited 30 minutes for coffee and then another 15 before my hot milk arrived and at that time my coffee was cold.

Review 82:Perfect location, beautiful place and great service and friendly staff

Review 83:The Booties provided for attending the Spa are a real hazard. The Floor was wet and the Booties when wet were particularly hazardous.

Review 84:Location, comfortable room, friendly staff, Elemis Spa

Review 85:It was very hot in the room - the temperature did not decline regardless of adjustments. We opened the balcony door and fixed the problem that way. The wifi did not function immaculately - it occasionally refused new gadgets.

Review 86:central location, possibility to borrow umbrellas, excellent restaurant (the best dinner I've ever had in my life!) with live string music, jacuzzi in the small spa section, friendly and welcoming staff... I could continue the list

Review 87:This is one of the best hotels in Tallinn but the service is not really 5 star. We asked for gluten free options at breakfast and was told they could not even make a salad without crutons. The breakfast overall was quite underwhelming.

Review 88:The room and bed are fantastic, along with the location

Review 89:Found the dining, although elegant, was a bit pricey for a budget traveler.

Review 90:Great location for viewing the Old Town, attentive staff, nice extras like multi-lingual newspaper in the morning. Room quite comfortable and some English channels on TV.

Review 91:If you get a room on the top floor, count with a quiet small place because of the roof. No complaints about the room itself, but the price is too high if you pay the same on the other floors.

Review 92:Situation, staff, swimming-pool area (small but perfect opening times and staff) Wonderful breakfast!

Review 93:Everything about this hotel was superb. It was faultless. The staff were especially friendly and helpful and if we ever return to Tallin this is definately where we would stay again.

Review 94:I would have to invent something.

Review 95:The room was so quiet, the bed was so comfortable again (my second visit). I just love the breakfast - it is pure luxury in peace and calm (my absolute favourite from the menu: Eggs Royale). The spa is excellent too. Staff is very professional without being too uptight. I would return any time.

Review 96:My intention initially was to visit Tallinn and enjoy with my friend a spa weekend. I selected a hotel that seems to offer that. However I didn't enjoy it as I hoped for.Sorely, the spa treatments (two different types of massage) were not up to my expectations. The place around the swimming pool is small and was always full, the steam bath can fit up to ~4 persons and was always too crowded. Moreover, during my stay there were lot of families with children in the spa area (and the consequent noise volumes) so I couldn't really relax.

Review 97:Dinner at Tchaikovsky restaurant was absolutely great. The staff were very professional and the food was a TRULY gourmet experience.

Review 98:The coffee and tea are very poor at breakfast!!!

Review 99:Comfortable room and amazing breakfast. The spa is a nice addition for warming up in. Good value for money we thought. We didn't try the restaurant but can recommend Aed which was very nice.

Review 100:A bit of other noosey Hotel customers, but that wasnt the hotels responsibility.

Review 101:Liked everything, cleanness and the comfy bed:) nice location, close to everything.

Review 102:A great place to stay to relax, eat good food and get to know the old city in Tallinn. We reccommend everyone to have a dinner at restaurant Tchaikovsky (the hotel restaurant) and to have a spa treatment at Elemis spa.

Review 103:No towers and cold steel room at the spa in the morning, some young waiters at restaurant when was busy Saturday morning didn't pay attention at all that we didn't have coffee, then milk...

Review 104:Helpful and friendly staff receptionist, barman, waiter, beauty therapist and cleaning lady. I liked that staff was ready to accommodate any of our wishes. Excellent restaurant food although pricy

Review 105:cant say anything bad!!!

Review 106:you feel like 500 ago. the old city is very clean and pituresque.hotel is located very central and makes you feel home immediately. personel is very friendly and accurate. best place to stay!! also with kifs!!

Review 107:From the moment I walked in the door, the staff was lovely and so helpful! I loved the room - the bed was perfect and the room was nice and light. My only regret is not staying there longer.

Review 108:We where suppose to stay 2 nights and during another weekend. But we only where able to stayed 1 night this time. After evem 1 night at Telegraaf the hole family is happy. The pool, the bathtub in the room and the breakfast. Wifi working, Elemis products in the room to make your own perfect bath time when ever you feel like. Just perfect. This time we had supper friendly also serving us. They where able to get table from the restaurant we really wanted - even we know it was quite full. They truly make everything that you feel most welcome and happy when you stay here. Try the omelets in the breakfast!

Review 109:Location could not have been better. T he staff were friendly yet professional. The rooms are clean and very comfortable with and not cracramped. Bar staff were great.

Review 110:you can't access the hotel by car (have to stop couple of buildings away due to restricted area). So it is the best to order a taxi always through the reception as these cars can drive completely in front of the hotel. This is only an issue if you have a lot of luggage.

Review 111:very friendly and attentive staff excellent breakfast big room

Review 112:Right in the centre of the old town, helpful staff who really want you to have a great stay. The spa is lovely and was very quiet on the Wednesday and Thursday but got a bit busier at the weekend. The rooms are so quiet and the beds very comfortable with a choice of pillows. Breakfast offered everything you could think of and the pancakes looked fab but I was too full up to try for myself.

Review 113:Price might be a bit high compared to other properties in Tallinn, but other factors compensate for that.

Review 114:Great staff (we were offered a choice of several rooms, even though the hotel was almost fully booked; staff provided us with excellent recommendations for dining out and made reservations for us, and otherwise were very helpful and pleasant). Location of the hotel is excellent for old town. Rooms have a nice decor and are very clean.

Review 115:My booking was not honoured as confirmed: instead of a double room in the new wing I was given a songle on the old part of the hotel. After I realized this (after unpacking) and complained, the front desk were surprised, as I was assigned this room by the manager. They offered an upgrade in the old part, but it was inconvenient at this point. I find this inexcusable in s 5 star hotel.

Review 116:The location can't be beat, the staff was very attentive and helpful (except the manager who switched my booking), breakfast excellent. Spa facilities and services are of a very high level. Distinguished cuisine in the Tchaikovsky restaurant.

Review 117:No double bed (which we ordered).... but the problem was immediately solved by a double mattress.

Review 118:The location on a quiet place, but near the town hall square. Spacey room with place to relax. Window can be opened for fresh air

Review 119:The only minus was that the room was heated using air-con (not radiators), so the air-con had to be kept on in order to keep to room warm. But no other complaints!

Review 120:We loved everything about the hotel. I especially recommend having dinner at the Tchaikovsky restaurant in the first floor of the hotel.

Review 121:This hotel is ideal if you want to see the centre of Tallinn, you are five minutes from the old town. At this time of year "mid winter" the xmas market, a hot drink and a return to the hotel for a swim/sauna/steam, the oldest capital city in europe.

Review 122:At the arrival receptionist was chating with her local male acquaintance and did not bother to process the arrival for rather long moment; coffee machine was put out of order at 22.00, there was a crowd of local loud youngsters being very aggressive to other hotel visitors and personnel did not do anything about it. Generally the personnel of the hotel is very unattentive. On the top of the fact that hotel is physically tired it makes the stay rather unpleasant experience.

Review 123:Location is good

Review 124:In some reason wi-fi was throwing us out all the time during last day of visit.

Review 125:Service and atmosphere was great. Also give a try for restaurant - a must during Tallinn visit

Review 126:I would have liked tea/coffee making facility in my room and also a trouser press or iron and ironing board.

Review 127:Liked the quietness of room. The location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and had a great selection of pillows.

Review 128:No bidette in the bathroom - something one would expect in a five star hotel.

Review 129:Friendly and helpful staff, nice spa, good breakfast - great stay in the classy old town hotel.

Review 130:The Hotel was placed in the hart of the city. Beautiful, clean rooms and the staff were very helpful. We will strongly recommend this hotel, if you are going for a long weekend in Tallinn

Review 131:Though the interior in the dining hall is marvelous, the included breakfast was a bit poor for 5 star hotel. The food compilation had no soul and no taste. The good point is there are 100 places to eat good food outside just around the corner.

Review 132:Excellent interior, quiet, perfect location- It is in the very centre of old town. Also safe parking available at additional cost wich is fair due to the location. Spa is very nice.

Review 133:We had 3 adults in one room. So I had extra bed. Extra bed was sofa bed and it was broken so it was changed. New bed was small and very hard. So I did not have good sleep which I really hoped after paying 250eur for the room. Also there was some black hair in the tub which is not very nice for 5 -star hotel.

Review 134:Good location, not too big hotel.

The Fine Print

Guests are advised to book the restaurant in advance.
