Reviews for Hotel Alcadima
Review 1:I would have liked the opportunity to have a room with a different view, to be offered choice (if there had been availability) at reception, before settling into the allocated room. With a more open view I might have stayed an extra day. However, I was pleased enough.
Review 2:A lovely hotel
Review 3:We had to pay Eur 1.50 each for a mandatory swimming cap to use the spa but it would've been nice if it was provided for guests. Some of the food tasted like it was microwaved. The 3-course menu was Euro 15.00 which is quite reasonable.
Review 4:The multi-level hotel is so lovely and charming, with plenty of little corners and stairways to explore. We came in mid-December and the room had a nice balcony, central heating and very comfortable beds. The Spa is incredible! There was jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a gym and we had them all to ourselves for an hour. The cafe/bar service is fantastic.
Review 5:Some of the male staff on reception were grumpy. Restaurant staff were lovely.
Review 6:The breakfast, the pools, rustic Spanish features of hotel, view from dining room.
Review 7:this is a large beautiful older hotel which is well maintained. the dining at the hotel is perhaps the best in own in terms of quality and value. this is the best place to stay in town.
Review 8:Very knowledgeable reception staff who provided hiking routes and maps.Very good food-especially fish courses.Amazing value menu du dia-with great choices.Reception booked tickets for the Alhambra in Granada-fantastic service.Friendly dining room staff. Lovely swimming pool in beautiful grounds with stunning views.
Review 9:The hotel is maintained well and kept spotlessly clean. We loved all the different seating areas, the water features, the flowers and shrubs and just the charming atmosphere of the hotel and its staff
Review 10:The instructions for the pool must surely date from the Franco era. Every one started either with "It is compulsory to ..." or with "It is forbidden to... " Not a single word of welcome to users of the pool.
Review 11:Lovely gardens, with outstandingly good information about almost every plant. Beautiful design and layout in small groups of garden rooms, with warm, inviting, romantic lighting after dark. Excellent food at reasonable prices.
Review 12:Being the best hotel in this old and rather quaint, run down mountain town may contrive to be less customer care focused than what civilised westerners are accustomed to but the service was efficient. The air con in our room was just on the acceptable side of providing a cool room and would not have been during the recent high summer temperatures. I have read a few of the other reviews and was surprised at the praise of the restaurant food. Whilst adequate with good service from the young male waiters, I had a bad interpretation of a lamb tagine that was most likely a boil in the bag job. My aubergine starter would have been okay but it drowned in a sea of bechamel sauce.
Review 13:Most hotels have a predictable and functional layout. This has a very interesting layout with many areas to discover and explore. The hotel grounds is one large and carefully tended botanical masterpiece that is beautifully put together with brightly coloured flowering plants and trees with low hanging branches many exuding heady evening scent.
Review 14:Really nothing to complain about
Review 15:Quiet and lovely setting overlooking mountains. Pool was large and very clean and room was very well equipped. Great breakfast
Review 16:The "individual" rooms feel a bit dungeon - y but they are less expensive so it's a trade-off. And they're better still than many hotels I've stayed in.
Review 17:A total gem! The salt water pool, views, and food, as well as the numerous beautiful little terraces, make for a memorable and enjoyable stay!
Review 18:The pool was freezing cold which meant you could only swim for a few minutes before developing hypothermia!
Review 19:The location, the price and the spacious well appointed room. The restaurant was excellent value and the restaurant staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 20:One day the cleaner forgot to clean the room but this was quickly rectified at 3pm
Review 21:The relaxing gardens , pool and good food helped end the day in a delightful way. The set menu at 15 euros was excellent value for money in a wonderful garden setting.
Review 22:NO AIR CON, we could not sleep. as advertised it says aircon available. Not allowing it in individual rooms is wrong. Because we had stayed there before we paid the bill / also told not to book for dinner and had to wait 45mins. BORING as I asked to Book.P
Review 23:They are lovely,
Review 24:Lunch on the terrace - best salads ever - fresh and very filling - beautifully presented- washed down with a good quality bottle of chilled white wine.
Review 25:I liked the atmosphere of the Hotel Alcadima. The staff are friendly and we had a lovely room with a view over the valley. The restaurant was excellent and we had the most delicious meals one could wish for. It was a great choice from which to explore the mountains, as well as Granada.
Review 26:We were in a terrace room and could hear everything going on in the room above us (doors (and windows?) constantly shutting, chairs/beds moving, kids running). This really ruined the stay for us because it went on late into the evening. Fortunately it was for only one night. The bathroom has poor ventilation. The breakfast is fair. Parking is a bit of a detour from the hotel entrance.
Review 27:Really interesting complex with so much lush vegetation. Room was spacious. Beds were comfortable. Location is good.
Review 28:Lanjaron has a big car parking problem. Hotel has no own parking. Expect to walk!
Review 29:Classy interior, rustique, Parador-style. Beautiful grounds and pool, belying the modest entrance of the hotel.
Review 30:1) When we arrived we were asked for our passports by a lady (who turned out to be the owner) with the warmth of the KGB. 2) All of the very many instruction signs around the hotel were rude in their authoritarian approach and language - both in English and Spanish! 3) The only hotel I have seen in the world where the 'do not disturb' door hanger has do not disturb on one side and do not make up my bedroom on the other - so that you can easily be misguided into not having your room done. 4) The hotel appears nice at first sight but the sheets, lavatory roll, towels etc are all very cheap & the bath/shower was cheap 5) room with a view looked out over main road and car park/public bins. 6) The staff (with one exception) were either surly or useless - all appeared to be very badly paid. 7) Safety rules in case of a power cut were inexistant - one hour without electricty during dinner with the only light coming from tea candles (try to eat a paella in the dark!) 8) Breakfast was very poor - arranged in a small pantry on stainless steel dishes, we had the feeling of being back at school - bread, tomatoes, ham, cheese and orange juice was once again the cheapest possible.
Review 31:One member of family owners who really tried to take care of customers with care and kindness (but he was the only one).
Review 32:No food available at the bar when we arrived mid afternoon after a journey. Some pastries would have been welcome. The electrics ie power and lighting, were not working in the sleeping area of the suite. The kettle for tea and coffee in the room took more than 20 minutes to boil.
Review 33:The location and atmosphere of the hotel
Review 34:Although the staff were professional, our order in the restaurant was confused 3 times on two différent days so it seems there is a problem of organisation between kitchen and floor
Review 35:Lovely calming ambiance, friendly helpful staff, above average quality meals
Review 36:Restaurant: Did not think much of the food or or service. Tough steak. Probably Spanish Cuisine was much better! Room: Ours was a triple on the ground floor. Rather cramped, dark and dingy so we were glad to only be staying the one night.
Review 37:Location - pretty much in the centre, just off the high street - but don't go this way. Once entering Lanjaron, continue on the A438 (not into town), hotel on left in hillside, then turn left immediately after into upper car park. Ring Reception bell on gate. Do not go on an take a left otherwise you will end up in some extremely hilly narrow streets! Hotel: Entering as above you come in on the ground floor where the pool and restaurants are. Thus place is like a maze with reception on Floor 1 (I think). We'd have loved to seen a map of the place. Public Rooms: Some nice rooms. Restaurant outside very charming and good service from the barman. Pool - large pool surrounded by artificial grass: good idea I thought as cool on the feet and very clean! Nice lot of beds and shades. We liked Lanjaron as it seemed very unpretentious/local. There was a Medieval Fiesta going on at the time we were there (14th August). Definitely worth a stroll.
Review 38:The WiFi could't work at all on our phones and the room was so close to the street that we could hear the cars clearly. The man at the reception acted as if he wished we could disappear from his sight as soon as possible.
Review 39:location was great, very close to the ALSA bus station
Review 40:other guests hogging the pool side recliners but fair play to the hotel they put up a sign complaining about it.
Review 41:brilliant pool, lovely food, fantastic value, lovely helpful staff , beautiful surroundings, easy to park in free public parking round the corner. All in all a great place to stay and very good base to get to the beaches, the sierra nevada park and Granada
Review 42:everything. We went to Lanjaron a couple of years ago staying somewhere else but we ended up using the alcadima restaurant....we swore we'd come back one day. We've just enjoyed three days there and it was just lovely. It certainly wont be our last trip there
Review 43:Breakfast was very, very disappointing compared to the outstanding quality of food available for lunch and dinner.
Review 44:Great central location in Lanjaron yet quiet and peaceful. Loved the spacious gardens, well equipped rooms. Absolutely fantastic restaurant food at an affordable price, comfortable, beautiful and romantic. We have booked to go back again. Excellent value for money!
Review 45:Nothing!
Review 46:A family run hotel - excellent location, the owners could not do enough for us. Señor Gonzalo and Amanda were very helpful. The food was excellent - a choice of an excellent a la carte or an evening menu del dia for €15. Very good value and delicious. The hotel had a lovely swimming pool. A comfortable, well situated hotel for sight seeing the whole of the Alpararras region.
Review 47:Great location, quality and value. The menu de dia was excellent value. A lovely ambiance in the bar. A great place for a romantic break.
Review 48:Economy room was very dark and when it rained heavily water came in through the ceiling
Review 49:Hotel very pretty and staff very welcoming
Review 50:Hotel was very quirky with many levels and pleasant surroundings, very nice pool and excellent restraunt with great food and service
Review 51:The rooms were large and airy with good views of the hills. The outside breakfast area was charming.
Review 52:Friendly service, excellent food in a spotlessly clean setting.
Review 53:Very good location. Excellent swimming pool. Professional approach by staff.
Review 54:They did not look at my special requests
Review 55:The restaurant and bar
Review 56:The service and the location and the lovely gardens and pool. We have been here before and will return.
Review 57:Could hear the guests next door, TV etc
Review 58:Fabulous location and very comfortable room. Fantastic view from the window.
Review 59:The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 60:location to sierrra nervada
Review 61:only expensive spirits available at bar
Review 62:The hotel is in a stunning location and is very relaxing with a beautifull pool ,and immaculately kept grounds
Review 63:Limited chairs by pool Doesn't provide pool towels No soap n room
Review 64:Nice pool (but bring your own towels)
Review 65:Everything! Very tranquil hotel, stunning gardens, restaurant waitress was brilliant.
Review 66:A very relaxing environment with great pool and views over the mountains. Helpful staff and reasonably priced food and drink.
Review 67:Beautiful room and gardens and excellent food.
Review 68:Meals on the terrace overlooking the mountains
Review 69:9 euro for a breakfast , twin beds
Review 70:Location is very convenient, close to many attractions like Granada or Las Alpuharas ,nice views, great kitchen,
Review 71:Excellent room with balcony
Review 72:Bad internet connection
Review 73:The nice and friendly environment
Review 74:Spacious accommodation Great bar area Lovely grounds
Review 75:The hotel was far above our expectations....it is located in the beautiful village of Lanjaron. The staff and facilities were superb....mohammed
Review 76:Friendly staff no problems at all
Review 77:good location, the pool was much bigger than it looked in the photos
Review 78:Very poor quality of staff. They need some public relations training.
Review 79:The grinds were very nice.
Review 80:The rooms located close to the road are noisy.
Review 81:The layout of the grounds and the unique character of the hotel
Review 82:Trees, vegetation, patios lots of shade and running water.
Review 83:No pool towels or shampoo
Review 84:Gardens pool and dining areas food and staff
Review 85:Everything
Review 86:Quirky spanish layout, gardens, pool, very good restaurant, dramatic setting, very helpful manager/owner
Review 87:Nothing
Review 88:Very peaceful and relaxing, perfect base to see the area
Review 89:The bath and shower, The bath was too smaii and the shower difficult to manipulate and the water only tepid, We are elderly and so my wife only reed the wash basin.
Review 90:The service, the food and the location
Review 91:The layout of the hotel was complicated with reception on the 3rd floor.Rooms 207 and 208 were tired and need refurbishing.
Review 92:The gardens and pool area were attractive. The breakfast was good.Dinner was fair but not as good as expected from reviews.
Review 93:Tranquil gardens with stunning views towards the mountains. Very friendly staff . Good food. Sleepy village more lively in the mornings. Loved the outdoor space to eat in and relax and enjoy the clear mountain air.
Review 94:We could find no faults.
Review 95:As we live in Spain, not having a bath didn't bother us. Everything was beautifully clean & well thought out. We loved the private door to the garden.
Review 96:The waiters at the restaurant took so long to serve us, several times and on different days, so once we ended up going somewhere else to have a drink. Also, everything is an extra charge, the breakfast, the spa, hats for the spa, towels for the pool...
Review 97:I loved the actual hotel facilities, it feels like a small village on its own with a pool, small spa and lovely surroundings. The rooms are nice. Breakfast is very good, although it was an extra 9€ per person.
Review 98:Our room was a little noisy at times. We were located above the hotel's underground garage door which opened and closed quite noisily. In addition the sound can carry from rooms above and we had about an hour of someone walking around with high heels in the room above at about 3am one night which woke us all up. I also found the foam pillows quite uncomfortable as I have neck problems. I would have welcomed a choice of pillow.
Review 99:The hotel is located perfectly for getting out and about and it is easy to park close by. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful during the duration of our stay. The location is stunning, overlooking a beautiful mountain scene and the valley below. The grounds are well kept and peaceful and the pool is clean and well maintained, although a little too cold to swim in during April. We particularly loved the outdoor, covered eating area, which is very tranquil and relaxing. We had a lovely, good sized balcony overlooking the views, which was great for sitting out after our young son had gone to bed.
Review 100:Rooms very clean. Excellent food, had the swordfish for dinner. staff had enough english to communicate with us, but guess we should know more spanish
Review 101:only complaint was the gym equipment was broken
Review 102:Food in restaurant was superb. Location in Lanjarron excellent. Facilities in hotel good but not all tried as it was a winter visit, but pool looked really great. overall good rustic style hotel with beautiful grounds and very friendly helpful staff.
Review 103:Parking in the steet next to the hotel was usually not available. This though is really not such a big deal as there are other streets with free parking a couple of minutes walk away.
Review 104:I normally don't particularly like hotels but I extended my stay in Alcadima by a further two days. It's very easy to chill out at the Alcadima. It's got a fantastic view of the mountains from the main terrace and manages to maintain a very relaxed atmosphere while at the same time being quite efficient. I found all the staff excellent, very helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good and overall my stay was excellent value for money. If I were to return to the area I would certainly look no further than hotel Alcadima.
Review 105:My only negative would be the breakfast buffet - could do with more fresh items . Its reasonable value but could be a little more appealing
Review 106:location is lovely, staff are very helpful, loads of terraces and perfect for relaxing with great size pool. Room was very comfortable with loads of storage.
Review 107:In the restaurant, the set menu has a couple of vegetarian dishes, which is ok but it would be nice if the "A la carte menu" had some options for vegetarians. The pool needs a bit more cleaning, specially on busy periods as "August" , because it was easy to see a line of grease in the water from the suntan lotions. It would also be a good idea to put up a sign for guests to shower before getting in the pool.
Review 108:We love the hotel and sorroundings, very peaceful and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Very clean and nice food. It was the second time we visited this hotel and definitely be back.
Review 109:One waitress in the restaurant appeared to be unfriendly
Review 110:The hotel was traditional spanish style. The hotel and gardens were wellmaintained. The swimming pool was a good size. Everything was veryclean. The food was good and excellent value for money.
Review 111:The biggest problem were the walls of the room. They were very thin. You could literally hear everything the neighbours say or do. They also places the beds in the room in a way that you lay both with the heads at the same wall. Which makes that you here every noise that your neighbours make in the bed. Very inconvienient. I've been in a lot of hotels but it never was like this. Another thing were the waiters in the restaurant. They were not very friendly and certenly no professionals. They made you wait long and forgot everything. Your roomnumber, drinks, a pen to sign the bill and they are never around when you need them. The also are busy with cleaning the tables for the next day while people are still eating. Then they have no attention at all. Also the tables outside are badly cleaned. The food was sometimes good when you took the menu. But at other times it was still cold at some places because off defrosting. Vegetables were overcooked and not fresh.
Review 112:It's a quiet hotel with a nice view on the mountains and a lovely garden with a good swimmingpool. We had a nice room with a good bed in a new building. The room was clean with every day new towels Dinner in the hotel is Sometimes good. Breakfast is better. Most of the staf is very friendly.
Review 113:Evening dinner, my fish dish was disappointing, it was more potato than cod.
Review 114:Hotel's location, decor, restaurant and gardens makes for a most relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Review 115:No tea or coffee making facilities in room (but we are nit picking).
Review 116:Very comfortable bed; air conditioning; friendly helpful staff; secure parking for motorcycle (but €10 per night); great wi-fi; good buffet breakfast; very good location within 10 mins walk of the historic centre. We would happily stay here again
Review 117:we got a outdated room for three, not alike the pictures on the site. Langaron is an uninteresting town with no restaurants, so you're stuck with the hotels cuisine, which is very middle of the road. During our stay large groups visited the hotel. Not the thing we were waiting for.
Review 118:near alpujaras mountains and close to Granada, a wonderful city.
Review 119:- a shame the road is part of the view across the countryside - the receptionist was smoking in the small side room, which made the whole reception area smell
Review 120:-The location is great for access to immediate town and the local area - lovely view (if you have the right room) - Great food & wine - clean - plants around pool/ terrace area - Helpful staff
