Reviews for Mesón de la Molinera

Review 1:The hotel is used for private functions and on our stay, a private function lasted until 2am and the noise of children playing in the courtyard disturbed our sleep on our first night.

Review 2:Its location, staff and food.

Review 3:Wi-fi signal weak even in the public areas. The heating could not be adjusted so although it was ok it could not be turned off and the noise from it kept me awake much of the night.

Review 4:Really nice room, good free parking and close to Arcos in a lovely position alongside the lake. Food and drink was reasonably priced and would like to go there in Summer when there would be more happening.

Review 5:there was no view form the window and the location is rather difficult to find. You need a car, cannot reach something by foot.

Review 6:the terrase of the tapas bar downstairs

Review 7:That I was only there 2 days

Review 8:The fact that I took a kayak without notice and they even unlocked a back hotel gate inorder to safely stow my kayak on my rooms private back garden

Review 9:Our room looked out on the courtyard between the hotel and the restaurant. It was very noisy from early in the morning until late at night with the clatter of dishes, supplies being brought in, people talking, and people on their phones - it seems the reception may have been better there. Meant we could not leave our window open at night, so it got stuffy, unless we used the air conditioner which was also noisy. I am a light sleeper, so it was a problem for me. Reception for wifi was very hit and miss, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, and was very slow. Due to a recent bereavement and other matters we did need to use it, so this was a bit frustrating and time-consuming. The pool was open to the public from mid-morning which meant it got crowded and noisy (my daughter and I made a practice of going for a swim before breakfast when it was empty). On one evening it was closed from 7 pm because of a wedding, on another day swimming and water polo classes were being held for local children, so we weren't able to use it at all! You were not allowed to swim in the lake, which was not made clear in the hotel's publicity material, with the exception of a small roped off area at the boat club 10 minutes walk away where a sandy beach has been created. Again, this was usually pretty crowded. We had to leave on our last day before the normal breakfast start time of 8 AM, and asked the night before if we could have a coffee/early breakfast. We were promised a picnic pack. In the morning, we went to get it and the man at reception said he had not been told. He did ask the woman who was preparing breakfast to give us something, and she obliged, we had 10 minutes for a very quick coffee and bite, I made a sandwich and took it and some fruit with me, ate int he car.

Review 10:We loved sitting out on the terrace for meals or a drink in the evening by the lake, watching the ducks swim past, the beautiful sunsets. There was no recorded music, for which we were grateful. The pool was long and deep so you could do proper lengths. The hotel had character and was not too big, and most of the guests were Spanish, which we appreciated, although there were a number attending a Sufi congress nearby who came from all over the world and were interesting people. There was fresh fruit for breakfast, juicy ripe melons and pears and oranges. The staff were friendly and helpful. My daughter wanted to take me riding, and they booked it for us and gave us clear directions. (The staff at the stable were wonderful and invited us to an informal free classical concert 'for friends' that evening in the courtyard, a fantastic experience.) The food and wine in the restaurant were good, the gazpacho was excellent. The beds were comfortable. There was loads of storage space and a minibar/fridge in our room. Plenty of parking out front with a fair amount of shade from trees.

Review 11:Shame weren't allowed to swim in the lake-not the fault of the hotel, but a bit disappointing, especially as the pool could be pretty busy at times. There was a 'beach' further along on the lake, which was a restricted area you can swim in-nice for a change from the pool, but also pretty busy a lot of the time

Review 12:A lovely hotel in a great location if you have a car available, or make use of the shuttle buses. Staff were helpful and friendly, with a family-run vibe. Food in the terrace restaurants was good and breakfast too! The pool great for a quieter early morning swim, lots more lovely later in the day. Nice that locals come and use the pool, restaurant and bar in the evenings too.

Review 13:No dislikes

Review 14:The thing I liked overall, was the inviting pleasantness of the staff, very polite and accommodating and willingness to please.

Review 15:Location very good and fair prices .

Review 16:Noise from courtyard late at night

Review 17:Beautiful location with all the trimmings.

Review 18:The staff in the restaurant was not very friendly, dinner was average, not great.

Review 19:The staff at reception was very friendly and helpful, parking was easy. Room was nice with a view of the lake, quiet, clean.

Review 20:We asked for a double-bedded room but were given a twin-bedded room, which wasn´t too much of a problem for one night, but we weren´t told about it, just given the key. The room was very cold and the heater did not work. We decided to eat in the restaurant rather than drive into town, and were disappointed. I had the set meal - the starter was great but the rest mediocre. My husband ordered a steak "well done" with chips. The steak arrived luke-warm and medium-rare, and the chips arrived after he had finished. Breakfast was also a disappointment - served in the chilly cafe/bar (I had to keep my coat on), we were served one toasted roll each, with cold meat, cheese and jam. No cereal or cooked option available.

Review 21:The location is nice, on the side of a lake. I think it would be a nice place to stay in the summer, as the gardens and pool look very pleasant.

Review 22:dining room understaffed and desk clerk chilly.

Review 23:Is located on a murky, but pretty lake. Attractive grounds, lovely building. Sitting outside having a drink on the terrace charming. In the hot season there's a gorgeous pool.

Review 24:The pool is open to the public but that is only a minor inconvenience.

Review 25:The location is superb and the hotel is well managed with good food and high standards.

Review 26:Only one serious minus - we had old, loud and weak air-conditioner in our room. Only because of that we can't put "excellent" to comfort point...

Review 27:We've been there in summer. First day we've spent in the city center. It was incredibly hot in the narrow stone streets... But we felt the greatest contrast, arrived to Meson de la Molinera! This comfortable hotel stands on the bank of the artificial lake - but this reservoir looks very natural among yellow and green fields with the mountains on the background. Nice views, nice rooms, nice and big swimming pool, nice restaurant and terrase, romantic sunset. And even 4 km from Arcos! By our point of view, it's the best choice for car-travers, who want to have a mix of historical site-seeing and relax.

Review 28:We liked everything there!

Review 29:We could deffinitely recomend! Good location on town outskirts, peaceful and ideal for those who travel by car. The view to the court - the orange trees cought the eye inevitabely :) The breakfast was plentyful, the stuff was great. We'd like to come again!
