Reviews for Cortijo Barranco
Review 1:The place was stunning. Staff friendly. Our room was clean with great water pressure in the shower. Toilet flush was a bit light :/ We were put in a room with two beds, although larger than singles they weren't big enough for a couple and the squeaked on light movement. Dogs are an extra 7€ per night each. Staff were lovely. The view was to die for. excellent. I loved the place Will be back for a stay with a double bed!!!
Review 2:A few relatively simple touches could really elevate this way beyond its physically lofty location. Breakfasts, even at a inexpensive €7, were very limited. Prepared fresh fruit, natural yoghurt, croissants or danish pastries would add to the continental breakfast selection. A jug of ice would be a nice touch to accompany the fresh orange juicer (this was a nice touch by the way) as otherwise the orange juice is warm. We stayed in a cottage which was attached to a small chapel; it needed to not have the cheapest plastic trolly to house the cooking and eating utensils, nor a plastic sieve - IKEA is not far away in Jerez and would have uplifted the impression. Rock-hard pillows didn't help sleep. The upstairs bedroom was spacious, although the rails are dangerous for small children. The dining/sitting/kitchen area is claustrophobic, although there is a large, vine sheltered terrace outside. At the poolside there wooden sun loungers (only three) lacked comfortable padding, whilst there was a selection of deck-chairs and chairs. It would look classier if they were all replaced with nice sun loungers, around the pool and in the grassy area above. The latter area was set up for a wedding with a bar, old-wagon and a few chairs. It has incredible potential as the views from here are amazing towards the Sierra de Grazlema and hills before Arcos, yet the bar wasn't open and even if it was open for the sundowner period it would add a special touch (even an honesty bar if staffing might be an issue). I may sound overly critical: I work in hotel marketing and I'm doing this review as I really want this place to improve as it could be really exceptional with a few simple touches. Other than these comments the big disappointment from my family was the equestrian centre being closed, and spotted amongst a heard of cows on the land close to the property was a hobbled horse with its two front legs tied together.
Review 3:Amazingly beautiful, historic old building in an elevated promontory offering expansive rural views. It felt very homely with the owners family present. Honesty bar and ice cold-water on draft tap. The swimming pool and gardens a welcome relief from the August heat.
Review 4:The rooms were a little disappointing, quite small and dark. There was little variety in the breakfast, mainly cereal and toast (but the fruit was a welcome addition).
Review 5:Fantastic location if you want to get away from it all. The Cortejo was beautiful, everything you imagine it to be, beautiful gardens with olive and fig trees, stunning courtyard with Andulucian charm. Excellent pool for those hot afternoons. Breakfast included fresh figs, tomatoes and watermelon from the garden!
Review 6:Our stay at Cortijo Barranco was a great diversion from the usual tourist destinations. We loved being on a beautiful country estate.

Review 10:Idyllic location, ideal lifestyle. A place where you can relax and chill out. Staff very welcoming. Very comfortable stay.
Review 11:Nothing not to like this was a beautiful and intersting farmhouse from the 1700's.
Review 12:We loved our stay at the Cortijo, it was quiet and the scenery around it looked like a painting. A great place for hiking and mtn biking. Centrally located it is a great spot for exploring southern Spain. The food was delicous and reasonable priced. This place takes you back in time to when simple things were the norm. The staff was friendly and courteous. We had a great time with family and friends while staying at Cortijo Barranco.
Review 13:The location is perfect! We stayed here for a second tome. This time we have chosen a searate house - casa del Arroyo, very nice view from the terrace! Very quite and lovely place. At the central building they also have swimming pool and offer breakfasts and dinners. Breakfast is ok.
Review 14:After a ten hour drive, with only a short stop to eat a sandwich we arrived at the Hotel at about 5pm.We were told that we could not have an evening meal as we would have had to have ordered it the day before. So once more we had to drive to get anything to eat.Not a good start. At no time were we offered a cooked breakfast. The "buffet breakfast" was a choice of cereals or toast. There was no fruit, ham or cheese. There was no choice for an evening meal.Whoever had ordered first the other guests had to have the same. There was no horseriding available, although it was still advertised on a large advert for the hotel in Arcos.Although we asked about horse riding we weren't given any information about where we could go.We did see the "rodeo" and the Andalucian horses in Jerez.Unfortunately you are not allowed to take photos. In all a very sad experience.
