Reviews for Schlossberg-Hotel
Review 1:Great location with a wonderful view of Wernigerode, incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts, and a lovingly restored place with character and delightful ambience.
Review 2:Situated on steep hill on way to Castle. "Budget Room" was in "Annex House" some 37 steep steps down hill and across hill walkway to Castle so had to climb these for breakfast. No Restaurant although this is advertised locally. A steep walk back from Town after dinner - especially if it is raining! Was not told when booking that the "Budget" room was in Annex
Review 3:Staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. Good parking space both at main hotel and at "Annex". Breakfast was good. Internet connection easy.
Review 4:the beds are to low, even so the mattress is comfortable
Review 5:Hotel is very nice, gardens and location of the hotel very good, we had a very good time there
Review 6:The hotel was very clean, the room spacious and comfortable and the staff very friendly. It is well situated for exploring the town of Wernigerode and the owner very knowledgeable about the area.
Review 7:Hotel is in a great location, near the bottom of the castle. It is only a 5 min. walk into town, which we did several times a day. The owners are very pleasant and personable.
Review 8:Had a very good experience here. Loved the friendly and laid back atmosphere, this house has a special history connected to the close by castle. The owners welcomed us with a smile and did everything to inform and help during the visit. Also loved the owners two dogs who were allowed to meet the hotel guests. Much better staying here than at a formal and impersonal hotel chain.
Review 9:We received clean, roomy, rustic looking rooms, in a building so old, no one knows when it was built. The room was great, and the breakfast was generous and tasty. Plus, the view was spectacular. What made the visit even more wonderful was the hospitality and kindness we received from our host. It is located a short walking distance from the center, which allows both fun and quiet.
Review 10:The only bad thing I can say is that the wifi was terrible, but that seems to be expected at any hotel. Besides, are you paying to stay in a villa under the shadow of a castle only to sit in your room and Facebook all day?
Review 11:The location! It sits in the shadow of the castle, mere steps away from the trail up to it. The style of manor fits the atmosphere well, it really felt like an addition of the castle. Being able to look out the old windows out onto the village made for some fantastic photos. Breakfast was typical german frühstück of Brötchen and cold cuts which is not bad at all! I wish we spent more time there!
Review 12:One very small point: the wifi in our room was rather patchy. Hate to put anything at all in this section, and can't speak for the other rooms, which may be just fine. Perhaps a router on the first floor might boost the signal a bit... Don't for one moment let this small point put you off staying here - it's fantastic!
Review 13:We liked the welcome, the comfort, the view, the location and the food. Our host and hostess were knowledgable about the area and very helpful in recommending places to eat. Out of the way requests (like a bucket of water and a sponge to clean our car windscreen) were met with 'of course, no problem at all'. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone and should very much like to return if our travels should take us to the region in future. Thank you to the Schlossberg-Hotel for contributing in no small way to a very successful holiday.
Review 14:Perfect place for visiting a superb town. Nothing too much trouble for the staff.
Review 15:Loved the friendly dogs and staff. Felt like the owner would be a great guy to enjoy several beers with. The view of the area is fantastic.
Review 16:Love the position by the river
Review 17:Extremely helpful and friendly staff who spoke both German and English.
Review 18:Excellent staff. Stunning location
Review 19:It was incredibly peaceful. Sitting in the garden and watching the sun setting was magic. The Schlossberg was straight out of a fairy-tale.
Review 20:nothing
Review 21:The room gave a lovely first impression. And the owners are very welcoming and also spoke very good English
Review 22:I was not given WiFi code I arrival and then couldn't find anyone so probably stacked up large cost roaming.
Review 23:Friendliness, atmosphere
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:Nice room, good breakfast

Review 31:Well positioned. Comfortable and friendly.
Review 32:in some of the suite there is another room for the children - the bedding was super and very friendly personnel, good quality breakfast and nice atmosphere with candle light in the beautiful building with the great view on Wernigerode
Review 33:The hotel had so much character and was extremely comfortable and clean. Wonderful location and, most importantly, the staff did everything to make us feel welcome and helped us out so much when we asked questions about the area. We couldn't have asked for any more.
Review 34:Rooms were spacious and very clean. Comfortable beds. Very nice breakfast with a lovely view. Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Good location too. Friendly resident dogs. Hotel owner even cooked us a lovely meal even though he was closing when we got there.
Review 35:Because of the location slightly up hill, the garden stairs and no lift, not recommended for people with walking difficulties.
Review 36:A nice, small and comfortable family hotel. The hotel (2 buildings) is ideally located, very quietly but on just 5 minutes walking distance from the center of Wernigerode and 10 minutes walking uphill through a forest to the castle. We stayed at the villa where also the nice and complete breakfast is served. Our room was clean and spacious with a good bed. The evening restaurant is located in a cozy cellar at the country house separated from the villa by stairs through the garden. Dinner was good. The hotel owners and staff are very friendly. There is free car parking space at the hotel. We enjoyed our stay and can certainly recommend this hotel.
Review 37:The hotel room we stayed in was large and airy with a separate sittingroom. Breakfast was with a choice of fruit salad, cheese bread, ham etc,and taken in the pleasant dining room with views overlooking thedelightful town of Wernigerode. It's about a 10-15 minute walk down tothe market square with it's fine selection of shops and dining places, but don't bypass the cellar restaurant at the hotel, the food there wasgood as well. Continuing up the hill from the hotel brings you to theCastle in about 5-10 mins, well worth a visit. All in all a thoroughlypleasant stay.
Review 38:A really cool hotel just underneath Wernigerode castle. The hotel staff is always very friendly and the town of Wernigerode is really charming. The breakfast was really luxus and the breakfast room was really great with view of the city. We spent New Year's Eve there and we really did enjoy it. A very strong recommendation!
Review 39:No room service
Review 40:Feeling always comfortable Quiet nights Far away from noisy Walking in the forest directly from the doorstep
Review 41:Strange smell in the bathroom
Review 42:Nice breakfast, very friendly staff. The hotel is located not far from the city center and in a quiet green place
Review 43:Perfect location at the foot of the castle hill, just outside of the town wall. Close to both the city and the nature. Good breakfast. Large room.
Review 44:Very beautyful view from the window of the hotel, can saw the whole city!
The Fine Print
If you are using a satellite navigation device, the shortest way from the B6 from the direction of Goslar is via the Wernigerode Nord exit. However, the property recommends that you take the Wernigerode Zentrum exit and follow the signs for Lindenallee. From Lindenallee, do not drive between the red and white bollards, but stay on the left-hand side and turn left again up the hill in order to get to the hotel. Please note that a breakfast fee may be applicable for children ages 2 and under who stay in existing beds.
