Reviews for Parador de Baiona

Review 1:The room was very simple and no views at all only to a patio in the ground floor. Also it was cold during the night, staff said maybe heating wasn't working so it may have been just bad luck.

Review 2:Beautiful location and good price with an offer however wouldn't pay full amount

Review 3:Just very small things: We wanted to visit sauna, but it costs additionally 9 Euro per 20 minutes! In the rest of the world it would be included.

Review 4:Great old fortress, impressive surrounding, wonderful sea view, very nice breakfast, elegant rooms, jogging path along the sea.

Review 5:Beds could be more comfortable. And certainly windows should be tightly shut against strong winds.... It made a loud noise the whole night when winds were battering the windows... But I guess this is the downside from being in such a special location in the middle of the sea....

Review 6:Excellent relaxing place. Beautiful surroundings. Nice outside bar with views and good indoor bar. Plentiful and excellent breakfast. Excellent location with good restaurants in town.

Review 7:Parking can be difficult if the Parador is busy with non-resident day trippers.

Review 8:Stunning location with fabulous sea views, enhanced by good weather (not always the case in Galicia!). A great base for exploring the coast, the wineries and green countryside. Just 30 mins to the Portugese border for a day trip south.

Review 9:Poor TV reception (no BBC world), no international newspapers. Grumpy restaurant staff.

Review 10:SUperb location and luxurious. Very friendly bar and reception staff.

Review 11:Breakfast was totally disorganized and the staff seemed to be working in slow motion. There were two sad fried eggs sitting on the counter that no one would have eaten and they didn't bring out any new ones until those disappeared. They had crumbs of a tortilla sitting there and again it was about 20 minutes before a new one appeared. Getting seated was impossible because no one seemed to be in charge of the dining room.

Review 12:We were only here for one night but I wish I could have stayed longer. It is a fabulous location with beautiful grounds. Our room, unfortunately looked at the swimming pool, not the ocean but it was clean and well equipped. The walk into Baiona was easy. The views from the hotel were spectacular. I definitely want to come back and stay longer.

Review 13:Most staff were very disinterested. Bar areas had no atmosphere, clinical and dominated by large TV. Booked to restaurant. Menu was not particularly interesting but we persevered, but asking for dairy free options clearly miffed the waiter and he bcame very offish, simply walking away. We did the same and found great food in town at half the price.

Review 14:Great building and very nice room (suite). Lovely grounds and good views from windows of crashing seas. Motorbike parking straight outside door.

Review 15:Staff don't speak much English, mainly because they don't get many foreign tourists in Galicia.

Review 16:Hotel is located in a gorgeous setting and very convenient for the restaurants, shops and beaches. Breakfast was amazing - very wide range.

Review 17:Attitude of some of the staff..particularly reception upon checking in Smell from air conditioning unit Poor wifi

Review 18:location and grandeur Large comfortable rooms Breakfast

Review 19:We all thought that this Parador was too expensive, it didn't offer much more than the other Paradores but cost a lot more money. It was very noisy when children ran up and down our corridor. Breakfast was too busy. No one showed us our room facilities and how the TV and air conditioner worked, we had to ask and then wait until a pleasant man came and explained. There was very poor pixelating English language news and no light English entertainment on the smart TV.

Review 20:Very nice location, although parking could be a problem for our friends. The staff were helpful

Review 21:This is a fantastic hotel, full of old charm with modern facilities - the swimming pool was a definite bonus We loved the location, just a short walk to town but we also enjoyed the hotel bar which overlooked the bay

Review 22:Scenic hilltop location overlooking sea and harbour. Fantastic breakfast. Great room near quiet pool. Walkable to all the best bits of this marvellous town. Ample parking. Dramatic walks in hotel grounds. The roar of the atlantic.

Review 23:Our party had to scramble to order and get taxis when we left the parador for Vigo airport.

Review 24:The Parador is amazing. The views and location are unique and special. Staff is great and extremely helpful. Rooms are beautiful.

Review 25:Pillows were bigger and harder than I like.

Review 26:Perfect location and fabulous views unsurpassed. Bathroom had space and everything we needed. Room very comfortable.

Review 27:Our room was well appointed and spotless. The location breathtaking, walking around the walls provided good exercise as well as walking into town and back. Meals were excellent. Staff helpful and friendly. We stayed 3 nights and could willingly have stayed longer.

Review 28:The swimming pool area could be a little more welcoming. I hesitate to criticise but the terrace off the bar did have cigarette butts and tissues which did not seem to cleaned up very quickly.

Review 29:The location of the Parador with its spectacular views. The bedrooms are well appointed with good bed linen and towels.

Review 30:I loved everything except for the service. Service was passable but blah. They just didn't make you feel special. Nothing was explained. If they could work on their service level it could be spectacular!

Review 31:Location is excellent!

Review 32:The pool is very odd and uninviting and the tennis court is very shabby indeed. Mind you, it was too cold to swim (mid-April) when we were here; and I don't myself play tennis. Anyone who does, however, and was counting on playing here would be bitterly disappointed. You are well away from the town; but that was OK by me.

Review 33:The views from our room, on the seaside; the charming walk around the battlements of the old walls encircling the hill on which this Parador stands; the sumptuous breakfasts; the spaciousness of the room; friendliness of the staff.

Review 34:Everything else was horrible: it's the problem in Spain, it's managed by the state which I can't understand. The service was poor, breakfast was very poor with nothing fresh, it was extraordinarily noisy (we had it booked for a week and we left after one night), but noisy in the worst sense, you could hear the guests upstairs talking, their toilet working, and the best of it is that we had a suite. Horrid. The management gave us a 15% discount coupon!!! Hahahahah

Review 35:El sitio en el que está emplazado es realmente bonito. The surroundings are really beautiful.

Review 36:Everything about the Parador de Baiona is top notch. The food is presented beautifully, the fortress is an historical site, the accomodations are comfortable and clean. The staff is excellent and there is no better hotel than a Parador is Spain!

Review 37:Nothing.

Review 38:There is noThing negative about this Parador. The restaurant was excellent, service wonderful. Pool, beach, rooms, everything was wonderful.

Review 39:Never found any staff that spoke good English, internet connection too slow for streaming, air-conditioning fine when it worked but seemed unpredictable

Review 40:Location superb, room very nice with a wonderful sea-view, hotel beautiful and very interesting, excellent hilltop pool which was very quiet most of the time, good food in both restaurants and breakfast buffet superb. We thought the staff kept the hotel to a very high standard and it is exceptionally clean. Plenty of parking and very easy. We will definitely go back.

Review 41:The staff at the tavern restaurant (not in the main building) was not that friendly. Shame as the restaurant is great, both in terms of the food and the view.

Review 42:The castle that is the parador, astounding views, friendly staff overall, great range of choice at breakfast and very nice balcony bar with view over the bay (good speciality G&Ts).

Review 43:It is quite a few minutes walk from the town up an incline back to the Parador. The staff could be friendlier especially in the bar The air conditioning could be a bit more efficient

Review 44:The location is beautiful The public rooms are well appointed The hotel seemed not to be busy although it was high season The pool area was quiet

Review 45:Breakfast: waiters were a bit overwhelmed especially close to the last hour. Hot food (eggs) were not replenished on time. I did half-board ie dinner included. From the price on the menu, it does not appear a great value deal. You can still eat very well at cheaper price or at worst equivalent. I was surprised by the lack of competitiveness here.

Review 46:Location and outstanding view; They did an impressive job doing the restoration of the interior of such a landmark building; Nice to have a swimming pool with superb view; Used outside restaurant: quality of food good; Reception staff was very nice and helpful, especially I had a panic moment with my car.

Review 47:Air conditioning was a little bit of an issue. Price is high but expected to stay in a Castle!

Review 48:Beautiful mideval castle straight out of the books. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our reservation was screwed up by me and without hesitation they accomodated us in a suite with two rooms so our kids would be together at no extra cost. Walking distance to town and beeches. Stayed 2 nights.

Review 49:The location is excellent for relaxation and exploration. The fort offer many opportunities to walk and enjoy a variety of views of the ocean and bay.

Review 50:Staff really did not speak English. I am fluent in Spanish but my husband is not. If I weren't there to interpret, he could not take care of our business.

Review 51:Room, location, view, pool

Review 52:Evening meal. Chipped glasses in the bar.

Review 53:This hotel is within a former castle on a promontory overlooking the bay. It's an exceptional location and Baiona is a lovely resort with excellent seafood restaurants. The rooms are good quality with decent marble clad bathrooms and strong showers. To a certain extent this is a 5 star hotel down as a 4 star. Breakfasts were excellent but the evening meal we ate was rather disappointing. It was more Aberdeen Steak House circa 1976 than fine dining. The meat in particular, veal and lamb, were fatty and chewy. All in all though I would stay again preferably for longer just eat out in the town for lunches and dinners which is really no hardship.

Review 54:Location and historical hotel

Review 55:Food restaurant was poor. Service perfunctory.

Review 56:View

Review 57:beautiful views and hotel

Review 58:The place is absolutely stunning and the location (on the ocean) was breathtaking. We felt very glamorous staying here!

Review 59:Marvelouse views and place. Really Nice city. Parking include (really necesary)

Review 60:Beautifully located parador on headland surrounded by sea on three sides yet at the heart of small resort town. Good breakfast, pleasant room.

Review 61:Swimming pool is clean but old.

Review 62:Food was fabulous and beautiful building.

Review 63:Poor food, very poor service (had to speak to duty manager to complain - she did make an effort to help us). Chaos at breakfast!

Review 64:Location for beach

Review 65:Shower door made horrendous noise.

Review 66:There was a thermostat ticking all night long, maybe just in our room but it was annoying

Review 67:Excellent location, good breakfast

Review 68:Helpful staff

Review 69:Arrogant staff except one girl in restaurant

Review 72:The grounds are beautiful.

Review 73:Wifi unreliable

Review 74:Fantastic location with great views, comfortable bedroom, lovely sitting areas, excellent breakfast

Review 75:Elderly voiple complained at kids playing soccer on grass.

Review 90:a bit too many older crowd.

Review 91:excellent staff at reception and CHECK-IN , staff at restaurant some good some a bit sulky - not so good.

Review 92:The Parador was beautifully appointed and staff very helpful.

Review 101:One of the most stunning locations I have ever visited.

Review 102:Air conditioner didn't work as suppose to..!

Review 103:Location was excellent

Review 104:location bar gardens

Review 105:too expensive for what it is ...

Review 106:Nice place, efficient service

Review 107:Excellent location and view.

Review 108:rooms just OK. I think August prices were just too pricey.

Review 109:outstanding location, beautiful facilities, polite and friendly staff.

Review 110:Unbeatable views & situation. Excellent breakfast. Lovely pool

Review 111:slightly impersonal

Review 112:stunning location great breakfast

Review 113:air-conditioning not working (in two different rooms) and problems with showers controls. Rooms tired for a hotel of this standard, swimming pool big but also in need of upkeep.

Review 114:beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting. really good breakfast. staff helpful despite their poor English

Review 115:We found the service quite poor. The staff were either overworked or not very interested in serving us.

Review 116:The location was fantastic looking out into the Atlantic Ocean

Review 117:This is a stunning venue- in an ancient turreted castle-like fortress of a building. It is a parador- buildings of historic/cultural interest which are opened to the public as hotels as a way of helping to finance their maintenance. The service is excellent yet unpretentious. The extensive grounds (complete with canons!) and beautiful gardens are impeccably maintained. The rooms look out over the vast expanse of the Ria to the distant mountains.

Review 118:I know this is seasonal, but we went in mid-April and the pool wasn't close to being open.

Review 119:This parador is a fantastic property on a fortressed outcrop overlooking the sea on both sides. Room had nice view of ocean. We could hear the crashing waves. Town is close and lively and has many restaurants.

Review 120:We were early in the season but the dining room was empty and the bar food was limited, but on request the staff made us a tortilla even though it was late and were most pleasant thank you

Review 121:The position was superb and the building was well maintained

Review 122:The hotel was in a fantastic setting the hotel website did not show this as well as it could have. Baiona was also a good base for expoloring the surrounding area.

Review 123:The personal was not very helpful. We got a room with a window to the pool, not very private. We asked to be moved, and ended up paying a whole lot more, and still had one of our windows towards the pool, where people could look right in. We felt that our stay started with a really bad experience. When we left the receptionist didn't even bother to look at us and say goodbye. Cleaning was not done that great. Overall not worth the amount of money we payed.

Review 124:Great location, and quite and experience to live here. Great breakfast.

Review 125:NO wi fi in rooms...

Review 126:location on a beautiful island across marina and lovely views. Very nice traditional Pazo style Hotel set across large well kept gardens./
