Review 1:Over looking a back yard from room terrace full of rubbish and washingdrying on many clothes lines. There is no outside space this yard wouldmake an exultant terrace of sitting with the views question of thehygiene standards in the breakfast room . dogs poo in the car park

Review 3:You can see the best view from Terrace. Covered with mist in the morning and can only see the top part of windmill. Price is best value considering it is clean and comfortable. Service is superb with friendly staff and food is good too. The castle ruin is just within walking distance. Really good for a nice walk of 30 minutes only.

Review 4:Hard to find - we eventually turned under an arch and just glimpsed, behind a parked van, an arrow painted on a wall. As we were parking outside, a woman emerged from the bar and said "hotel?" She showed us a building next door to the bar, handed us two keys and indicated two doors. It took quite a while to get the rooms warm and the proprietor didn't know how to work the heating remote control (complained that it was written in English). When we were ready to go next door to the restaurant for dinner we found the bar/restaurant closed and shuttered. There was no warning that it would be closed and we had particularly booked a hotel with restaurant in order to have an evening meal. Fortunately we were able to find something to eat in the centre of town. The next morning we were ready to leave about 8.15am but everywhere was still closed and we had to phone up for someone to come so that we could pay the bill and then the proprietor seemed to be unfamiliar with the workings of a card machine. Probably OK in summer, but not recommended off season.

Review 5:In the old Medina, do take a walk into the old square. Check out the 360 views. Good value and great for us popping to the ports. Nice staff and intend to stop again.

Review 8:Great views from the room and balcony. On-site parking.

Review 9:The staff seemed totally surprised at our arrival, no keys could be found. The heater/airconditioning control didn't work. Eventually we found the keys ourselves to another room and fetched another controller and more blankets. After this the stay was very comfortable. The wi-fi didn't work although in fairness the staff tried hard to help.

Review 10:Lovely views, nice room. It was like staying at a Spanish version of Fawlty Towers.

Review 11:The shower was hot and cold, no happy medium.

Review 12:The welcome. We arrived after midnight and we were offered a meal. The view was amazing, and the balcony set it off. The food, they have a fantastic menu.

Review 13:A small family owned hotel restaurant started by Manuela and José in 1969, and built up over the years. Just seven bedrooms, of which 5, 6, and 7 are perhaps the best, as they have superb views over the open countryside from their balconies. Very friendly hosts, very much inter-generational family business. Food is simple, but very good.

Review 14:Some would say the breakfast of tea or coffee with toast and jam and a yoghurt was a bit basic but from talking to other people staying near us this is "par-for-the-course" in this part of spain. (In fact, the other hotels in the area, as far as I know, didn't even include a yoghurt). I actually felt the breakfast we were given was quite adequate for the climate.

Review 15:Rooms very clean and the two rooms we were allocated (Rooms 5 & 6, I think) had patios with lovely elevated views over farmland and country towards distant mountains etc. Seeing the morning sunrise was a joy! This is a small hotel with an intimate feel. Despite our lack of Spanish and the staff's lack of English we were made to feel very much at home.

Review 16:We were in a downstairs room which makes it quite noisy when theupstairs use their bathroom! Also would like to be given a choice ofa room on the upper floor as the lower floor balconies have quitehigh walls so you cant see the fabulous view when sitting at thetable. As usual with a Spanish hotel coffee making facilities aregreatly missed!!!

Review 17:After an abrupt start the owners and family were very friendly &helpful. Medina Sidonia is a lovely town & a great base toexplore this part of Spain. This was our fifth trip to the town andit wont be our last.
