Reviews for Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa

Review 1:The shower fitting didn't work - it was a real struggle to get it to switch to a shower from just pouring water in the bath and often didn't work at all. Beds could be more comfortable given the 4 star rating. Otherwise, a lovely hotel in a charming spot.

Review 2:Stunningly beautiful gardens and grounds and amazing breakfast buffet.

Review 3:Hard to find any negatives at this hotel, however, bathroom hairdryer handle had to be constantly squeezed to keep it working - hard to do. Would have liked tea /coffee in the room to use with the kettle and cups provided.

Review 4:Big comfortable bed; choice of food amazing; staff helpfulness and obvious enthusiasm for working together as a team. Excellent spa treatment.

Review 5:Our only regret is that our balcony was never in the sun, therefore we could not sit outside our room. However, it is more pleasant to be somewhere in the grounds, so that was not really an issue.

Review 6:The layout of the hotel is really beautiful and spacious. There are lots of outside areas to relax in and the gardens are spectacular; it's like living in a luscious botanical garden. We also found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 7:The night time entertainment is the worst! Only on NYE when they hired in external entertainment- could we bare being in the building! Young kids miming to songs from musical theatre is not entertaining for me!

Review 8:Beautiful gardens, staff extremely efficient and on the ball. Excellent breakfast and food at outlets really good.

Review 9:In the modern era a better wifi would be preferable.

Review 10:The whole hotel , grounds, pools and restaurant was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Review 11:Could not get sundown sunbeds as all taken.would of preferred balcony facing south. Food at marina based restaurants was to be drsired. Beach restaurants a lot better.suggestion 90 minutes towel on sunbed should not be allowed Get towls from staff when arrive at pool. First come first served.

Review 12:Helpful staff,beautiful breakfasts,well cleaned rooms,entertainment was great especiallybevening.easy walk to beach.lovely beach

Review 13:I found one of the reception staff to be rude. Rating would be 10/10 if it was not for this, sorry!

Review 14:Absolutely Fantastic! The website greatly undersells this hotel. This is a fantastic place to stay! Rooms perfect, Food perfect, things to do and entertainment perfect! We were one of few young couples, we went for a relaxing holiday and it was lovely. There were mainly young families and senior couples, but we still greatly enjoyed our stay. This is the first hotel I have left a written review for, because it is well deserved!

Review 15:What a fantastic, relaxing holiday! We loved everything about the hotel - beautiful gardens and grounds, excellent food (New year's eve buffet was unforgettable), very nice staff, great spa, tranquillity and comfort of the room. Very reasonable prices for extras. Our daughter greatly enjoyed the mini club. We found the overall atmosphere, and the behaviour of other customers, to be very civilised. The village is very pretty. The hotel grounds include some archeological remains - do not miss a walk in the area, and a stop at the bar El mirador, with its fantastic views.

Review 16:Overall, the hotel was great! The only real negative was the service representative, a Slovakian man, at the bicycle hire shop (Freemotion) within the hotel. He was very unhelpful and rude, to us and others. He should not be serving the public.

Review 17:Pool too cold and Childs bed was not so comfortable.

Review 18:Location was good having a very attractive small beach and marina with numerous restaurants and shops. The architecture was typically Spanish.

Review 19:None to complain

Review 20:Went for a week during Christmas 2015 with 2 kids (2 and 6 Yrs old). A lot of activities for kids and excellent animation team - kids disco, theatre on Friday, mini club etc. For adults - tennis, squash, aqua aerobics, live band, bowling. Enough beds around swimming pool and it didn't seem over crowded though hotel was fully booked. Hotel itself is a brilliant property. Courteous staff.

Review 21:Wifi is really slow for a hotel of this quality. There was a brief reference in a hotel info leaflet to the fact they were working to improve it, but the investment should have been made a while ago.

Review 22:The hotel is just a short stroll from the quaint harbour (Mogan Playa is by far the most attractive of the resorts on the south west coast of Gran Canaria). This is a large hotel, but quite low rise and in a beautiful setting in the little Mogan velley. Hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped with streams and sub-tropical gardens. An atmospheric chapel in the gardens hosts a weekly service which is particularly well attended. The two large swimming pools are peaceful and relaxing. The central hotel atrium is spectacular with large waterfalls. Meals are served in rooms leading off it; all meals are buffet-style, but of excellent quality.

Review 23:Room towels were of poor quality, rough and well used. Wifi not great in some areas Daily charge for safe, unusual in 4 star hotel. None of these were major issues but would be great if improved.

Review 24:Staff excellent, gardens and pool areas very clean and plenty of areas to relax. Food good. Spa was a great experience.

Review 25:Shower occasionally boils in use - dangerous. No extractor or ventilation in our en suite, 1501. Once, no soap in downstairs WC - you should check more often !

Review 26:the quality of the staff - brilliant at all levels.

Review 27:Inconsistent wi-fi

Review 28:Friendly, attentive staff. Excellant facilities. Very varied buffet choice. Imaginative design of buildings, apparently unconstrained by accountants. Short walk to village centre. Easy to explore the centre of the island. Great microclimate in sheltered valley.

Review 29:Bathroom Towels are in need of replacement

Review 30:Excellent food and spotlessly clean. Drinks were resonably priced. Garage facilities very good. Checkout very quick & efficient.

Review 31:The WiFi only seemed to work closely to reception

Review 32:Excellent facilities. Great gym. The restaurant had a wide variety of food, difficult to fault it. People were helpful and always welcoming

Review 33:The evening entertainment is currently below par and it was very disappointing to see Claudia, Max & Tino had left.

Review 34:We are returning guests. We have enjoyed many stays over a good number of years and recommended it to several friends, who have now also stayed and are returning.

Review 35:Only thing was,I asked for double bed got two singles but apart from that all was great.

Review 36:Loved Everything the pools, breakfast was great. The grounds the lighting it was perfect. The spa was fantastic.

Review 37:It was all good!

Review 38:The hotel was spotless and, although very large, the hotel did not overpower. The staff made sure there was a very friendly atmosphere and made the hotel feel much more personal than it could have.

Review 39:We had no view from our balcony when seated (due to the wall) rather than railings as most of the others had. We were in room 4303.

Review 40:Even the check in experience was the best I have ever had - a glass of Cava topped it off! On holiday with my Mum we wanted a relaxing time with good pool facilities - we were not disappointed. The pool area - particularly the bottom pool had great areas for laying in the sun and you didn't feel you were crammed in at all. The extensive gardens throughout the hotel were beautiful. We stayed B&B and this was definitely the right decision - breakfast buffet was excellent - the staff just couldn't keep up with re-setting the tables! We tried the evening buffet once and have to say it was disappointing. The Guayres A La Carte restaurant experience however was the opposite - sat out on the terrace and enjoyed a memorable evening with wonderfully presented food - well worth it. A great hotel.

Review 41:Weak wi-fi, no seaview at all and beach area close by is nothing special.

Review 42:Great facilities, very nice overall experience, excellent food, natural scenery

Review 43:Guests allowed in restaurant for evening meals wearing shorts, not dressy shorts but swimming shorts, this happened several times. Not what you expect in a hotel this category and does not help it to keep high standards if allowed. No soft music around pool areas, very cold ambience. Entertainment very poor, little input from animation team to get a good ambience.

Review 44:Close, walking distance to Puerto Mogan.

Review 45:There is a bad smell in the room all the time. Though we opened the door, it doesn't help much. Poor ventilation and old aircon. The hotel's system was down so can't use WiFi for 2 days.

Review 46:Food is very good. Night performance is wonderful.

Review 47:The hotel is a bit old fashion and most of the visitors were very old people.

Review 48:The place is huge and comfortable. The rooms are great and the location is 10 min walk to the Mogan beach. The staff are very Welcoming and pretty nice.

Review 49:None to think of.

Review 50:I would describe Cordial Mogán Playa as a campus hotel spread over quite a large area. The grounds are very green and lush and well maintained. They have a 90 minute rule on the sun beds..... great idea.

Review 51:Excellent swimming pool areas All areas of resort very well maintained and kept clean Buffet breakfast and evening meal of good standard and varied choice

Review 52:Very service minded and always smiling staff from the very beginning when we showed up in the reception (earlier than informed) via the restaurant, cleaning and luggage service. High standard - food, maintenance etc. Can only recommend to visit the hotel

Review 53:Suggest there are spoons with kettle to allow kettle to be used. Also curtains didn't close so room was too light in the mornings. Would also suggest that there are more smaller fresh fruit stations at breakfast, was a bit chaotic at breakfast

Review 54:Rooms could do with a bit of redecoration. Ice-cream at the pool bar was a total rip off - €6.30 for 2 cornetto style ice-creams!! (Not even the real thing, a local equivalent, not nearly as nice!). Service in the bars was generally slow.

Review 55:Lots to do at this hotel. Brilliant facilities. Location was excellent - 5 mins walk to the marina where all the bars and restaurants were. Staff were all very nice. Breakfast selection was fantastic.

Review 56:The dogs barking .The entertainment not great either.

Review 57:The staff were good.Moved to another room for a nicer view but the hotel has problems with a neighbours dogs barking at night particularly at the blue building rooms

Review 58:I would have liked a bit more help in suggesting tours and activities. The front desk were more than willing to assist in booking anything once you had read the various leaflets.

Review 59:Great breakfasts, superb gardens, ample bedroom space, very friendly and attentive staff, and on the doorstep to the facilities of the town / beach / port. Traveled to other resorts but always pleased to get back to the Cordial and Puerto de Mogan.

Review 60:My only criticism would be that my bed was incredibly hard. I returned home with a very bad back and slept for a couple of days.

Review 61:I enjoyed my stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel complex is huge, and I only really got to explore it properly on the final day. I am glad i was a short walk away from the harbour as it was lovely and quiet at the Cordial.

Review 62:Unfortunately no milk tea or coffee in room but you have a kettle.

Review 63:Good location, excellent accommodation, good food staff friendly and very helpful. Short walk to Town and beach, and the sun shines what more do you wan't.

Review 64:Indifferent Wi-Fi - Badly needs upgrading to meet modern needs. Room change inadequate, whether by coincidence or design. Management didn't appear to be as efficient as in other departments

Review 65:Wonderful Staff, starting with Front desk Very impressed with management as embodied in Snr Eugenio Gualdamez. Las Guayres the spectacular Menus, and waiting staff Mari & Antonio

Review 66:Wi Fi was particularly weak-- but Hotel wasin process of upgrading the coverage

Review 67:Breakfast selection was first class- excellent overall facilities with beautiful well kept gardens

Review 68:Little far from the beach but anyways pools are better thans the beach..

Review 69:Staff are very helpfull, hotel and people are perfect for small children. Relaxed atmosphere and delicious food

Review 70:The location and quality of the hotel ,it's beautiful tropical gardens and the care and attention of all staff made this a perfect holiday. This was our 3rd stay at the hotel.

Review 71:Not all staff speaks English. No free drinks during dinner. Not perfect for young couple as the majority of guests are elders.

Review 72:Beautiful room, clean, great pool area, nice food, good location.

Review 73:Some of the shows on the night time aren't all of the same standards...some very good ...some not so good ,but as I didn't expect any shows.it was no problem . If you want a night club style holiday ...it's not for you ...x

Review 74:We regularly stay in five stars hotels ...for the small amount we paid,we didn't expect much .We where wrong.Fantastic hotel, fantastic staff. Breakfast was so diverse ...fab ...going again in February

Review 75:Tried to have a buffet dinner in the Hotel, but when arrived at door we were told to wait for 45 minutes. We chose to go outside and enjoyed dinner at one of sea shore restaurants.

Review 76:Nice Hotel for relaxation. Staff members were friendly and ready to help. Excellent breakfast pleased all kinds of guests.

Review 77:Given a room with a huge palm tree covering balcony. So no sun or views.Went and asked to be moved but was told whole hotel was full!! Managedto be moved a day later to good room with sun and pool views. Dinner wasa complete fiasco. We were moved Four times to different tables as table35 which was supposed to be ours for duration of our stay had people onit. Service was not upto the usual Cordial standards. This is our 3rdvisit here and sorry to say this but also our last. They have droppedtheir standards and we didn't feel like we had been treated with anyrespect this time round. To top it all off when I asked for an extensionon our room time as our taxi was nit collecting us till 5pm was too noas our room was too popular so we had to vacate. Sorry Cordial MoganPlaya but maybe when the new hotel going up opposite cordial apartmentsopens, you may up your standards to what they use to be.

Review 78:Nice location, pretty gardens.

Review 79:The landscaping is so pretty, well laid out and beautifully kept. Hotel is very well laid out, rooms cleaned every day, towel change every day if wanted. Would highly recommend .

Review 80:The wifi ability is very poor, you advertise something for free, but it dosent really work. Our non smoking room 2405, smelt of smoke. Shame the lovely looking bar to the reception area never seemed to be open. The lovely plants living between the back of the hotel and the rock face are showing signs of a white fluffy disease, it would be a great shame if this got left to get out of hand.

Review 81:Lovely hotel, fantastic design and layout. Lovely sunbeds. Lovely reception area. Very clean indeed. Delicious food Good to have underground parking.

Review 82:dinner in hotel has two sittings 18.15 to 19.30 or 20.30 to 22.00 can become a bind after a while. Mogan as a resort is ok but a bit soulless. Marina V.Nice past main beach over smelly bridge

Review 83:Spotless hotel & fantastic staff. Perfect if all you require from a holiday is a good hotel

Review 84:Very family orientated - a lot of children everywhere in pool/bar ectera-perhaps not ideal hotel for younger couple with no kids. Wifi was practically never working and I felt drinks were very overpriced.

Review 85:Great selection at the buffet, pool was nice and plenty of sun loungers.

Review 86:Must say WiFi was very poor and also the fact of people reserving places in the sun bed with the towel and disappearing for hours causing other people not being able to have a place where to be and therefore leave.

Review 87:Location is superb and the style of the whole complex. Staff very friendly and helpful, food was second to none.

Review 88:Slightly confused experience with an older lifeguard who insisted something was not allowed but could not explain what it was!

Review 89:The hotel really exceeded our expectations. It was well maintained and gave excellent value for money. The grounds were incredibly well kept and really made the place look great. Majority of staff interactions were very good - professional, courteous and very friendly.

Review 90:Fabulous hotel, Staff very friendly, Great buffet breakfast. only went b&b, did have lunch one day, buffet style choice of fish or meat cooked at your request. Lovely

Review 91:Queues in Buffet (Breakfast Time),Expensive Drinks- Half Liter Still Water 2.10€ . Reserved Tables, Safe Box In The Room Cost You 32€ For Week (Normally Its Free In 4 Star Hotel), From Pool Nr.2 To WC -Stairs,Slippery,I Hurt My Back, My Son Hurt Knee. I Bought 2 Champagne Glasses In The Shop- Gone After Room Was Cleaned..

Review 92:The gardens in hotel are beautiful.Sun beds are plentiful and arranged in many small groups, peaceful atmosphere.Location Very Good,10min To The Sea Point. 2min To The Market.Free Underground Parking.Thats It..

Review 93:Abandoned my lunch in the restaurant near the second swimming pool due to many flies on the buffet (the enclosed main restaurant buffet had no flies).

Review 94:Cleanliness, especially of the pools. Choice of food in the main buffet restaurant. Accommodation was spacious for a standard double room. Mostly peaceful even in July except for increase in guest numbers at weekends. Gardens were lovely and hotel public areas inspiring.

Review 95:The quality of the wifi internet is not meeting 21th century expectations. It is also strange that you need to pay extra to use the safe in the room, while everything else you can imagine is included in the price.

Review 96:This was the second time we stayed at this hotel, and everything was at least as fantastic as it was last time! Incredibly friendly personnel, very nice room, and food that meets any top restaurant level! All at a reasonable price. At the swimming pool no hassle with people "reserving" chairs by putting towels on it. All nice and cosy!

Review 97:The bed could have been better. The wifi didn't work well most of the time.

Review 98:This hotel has everything you need: - The food is amazing and you rarely eat twice the same thing - Their cocktails were the best I've ever had, specially their Mojito! - The spa is brilliant and very relaxing Overall, we spent almost the entire week within the hotel. There is plenty to do and it is very pleasant!

Review 99:I was been told the room is around 40 Smetres. However, I really don't think it is that big. WIFI speed need to be upgraded. Playground also need to be upgraded.

Review 100:Hotel is great with good food. Beautiful view and landscape all around the hotel. Every single corner could be a great background for a good photo.

Review 101:Noise between rooms! We had to change rooms because of a crying baby underneath us, and the air con in the second room wasn't as good.

Review 102:Facilities, breakfast, location, room, spa, most staff very nice and friendly

Review 103:Hate saying anything negative, but must warn others to BEWARE of the slippery bath/shower. No bath mats provided although these were provided after I SLIPPED. Hotel Management aware of my accident and hopefully measures will be introduced to avoid future incidents.

Review 104:The Hotel stood out like an Oasis in the middle of a volcano. It was just perfect with water features, little bridges and tropical plants everywhere. Just a haven with blue skies and sunshine - perfect. We chose Half Board and were not disappointed by the choice of food for breakfast and dinner. The entertainment was also a plus. Had never visited the Canaries before but would have no hesitation in visiting again, especially this Hotel.

Review 105:Nothing bad to say about the hotel or the experience.

Review 106:Friendliness of the staff, fantastic food, everything is well maintained - couldn't ask for a better hotel. Really like the classes and the night of viewing the stars and planets.

Review 107:It can get a bit busy during public holidays.

Review 108:Very nice hotel. Excellent facilities, polite staff, amazing food and drinks. First class. Why it is not a 5 star hotel?

Review 109:Did not like the set times for evening dinning, there are 2 sittings, one at 6pm and the other not until 8.30pm, which I found a little too late.

Review 110:Staff very friendly and helpful, hotel set in beautiful grounds with great facilities. excellent breakfast buffet.

Review 111:I thought the room was quite traditional in its decor but my husband liked that! Everything else was great, would definately return.

Review 112:The grounds of the hotel are lovely with palm tress and lots of planted areas around the central pool. There are plenty of places to sit in the sun or shade and relax. We particularly liked the breakfast area where you could sit outsied (the main dining room was very busy in the mornings). We liked the piano bar area at night for a cocktail and the hotel is a 10 minute walk to the main part of the fishing village which has a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Review 113:Super hotel in great location, close to harbour and buses (frequent service) - so no need to hire car. Huge market on Friday's round harbour & loads of great places to eat - we booked bed & breakfast option at hotel. Had a lovely time and would certainly return.

Review 114:This was my second visit to this hotel and I enjoyed it just as much the second time round. Rooms comfortable, great choice of food, super staff and a great location. Looking forward to returning.

Review 115:Lower level rooms can be dingy and cold. In winter one needs to get a room that gets some sun during the day.

Review 116:The setting, the wonderfully heated outdoor pools, the staff and Puerto Mogan itself

Review 117:No water upon arrival, no warning not to drink tap water. TV control not working properly, wi-fi missing most of the time at the room, dark entrance in my "corner", fridge too low, door left open on occasions, shiatsu massage in the spa not sufficiently professional. No shuttle to the center/beach.

Review 118:Wonderful gardens, especially the cactus exhibition. Pleasant pool area. Bird cage, cats and fishes added to the experience. Breakfast was great. The a la carte restaurant was fabulous!

Review 119:Wi-Fi coverage is fine in the main building but patchy elsewhere. Bad was extremely firm and not at all comfortable.

Review 120:Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful without exception. Hotel and all facilities kept spotlessly clean. Choice of food for breakfast and dinner was excellent

Review 121:Beds were too soft and springy. Good espresso coffee in the restaurant

Review 122:Great location, very friendly people, good food. This is a big hotel, but they manage to make it feel cozy anyway. Our son (3) and us loved the pool. Highly recommended.

Review 123:This is our second visit. The environment is so relaxing and stylish. Beautiful decor, gardens and indoor plants in courtyards. Very peaceful. Wonderful helpful friendly staff. Can't recommend more highly.

Review 124:Pool towels should be at the pool. Not at reception. Quality of wine available by the glass leaves a lot to be desired. Wi fi very weak or non existent in our room (1408)

Review 125:The garden and plants. Excellent.

Review 126:Finding a table for breakfast was a bit of a 'scrum' - a shame. Noise from other rooms - stone floors and very loud doors banging.

Review 127:Choice and quality of food. Nice pool area. Very pleasant resort.

Review 128:First room cold, but managed to move after three nights to a room with sun later in the day. 5 C warmer. Buffet food at dinner got a bit tedious, and especially being vegetarian.

Review 129:Puerto de Mogan is a most attractive port/ village. It is ten minutes walk from the hotel. Two large swimming pools and warm. Beautiful grounds.

Review 130:Wifi was slow and patchy. Location in a high sided gorge meant that we lost the sun on our balcony a bit earlier than necessary

Review 131:Excellent facilities, lovely staff, good food. Puerto Mogan is a very pretty town and by far the best resort on that section of Gran Canaria

Review 132:Inadequate Internett capacity restricted normal use even late at night. Signal strength OK.

Review 133:Selection of activity facilities. Wonderful botanic garden.

Review 134:Accomodation is excellent as are the staff, the one draw back the air conditioning. It was set to hot as all the 'ol foggies' there... I was given an mobile air cond unit ant it sounded like a plane had landed in the room. So I had to speak to the Manager again who was very accommodating. they should have provided extra blankets the them or maybe Viagra, so they could keep them selves warm....

Review 135:Location, hotel apartments, facilities, and the staff were very good. Nice clean tidy place.

Review 136:Not a lot to not like would have liked a better view from balcony.

Review 137:Very welcoming staff good service and on hand management Chefs try hard to please at all restaurants.

Review 138:For us, there were no minus points. However, it is a big hotel and this might not appeal to everyone, although I couldn't speak too highly of the facilities.

Review 139:The hotel had excellent facilities, and was set in its own botanical gardens. The buffet breakfasts were excellent (everything from fresh fruit, hot food of all kinds to smoked salmon and caviar!). They do evening meals but we chose to eat out in the evenings as there are loads of very good restaurants 10 minutes walk away. We had a car and it was a great base for travelling around.
