Reviews for Hotel Le Clocher

Review 1:Very noisy because it is in the middle of the square. Bar doesn't stay open very late but church clock chimes out every hour and restaurant staff start setting up outside tables from 0600. Reception staff not very friendly.

Review 2:Amazing location in the centre of Ars. Rooms are pleasant and clean.

Review 3:I don't like a shower curtain, I prefer a glass door, this is much more comfortable!

Review 4:Very good location, very nice hotel in the middle of the village. Good staff!

Review 5:There is no wifi in the rooms, and it was a poor service in the public area. It is relatively early in the season (mid-June) so bathroom mould shouldn't be there, and there is no excuse for a hotel toilet to be anything but gleaming white. We ate dinner in the restaurant, service was uneven. My partners dish was very good, mine was horribly overcooked. I would happily have shared this with the wait staff but they never asked whether we were happy with the food during or at the end of the course and as it was my birthday I had no wish to get into an argument.

Review 6:The location is terrific, and the staff were welcoming.

Review 7:Free parking was a 5-10 minute walk away. Shower screen leaked badly so bathroom floor got very wet.

Review 8:Location great in centre of town with plenty of bar/restaurants and cycle hire. Enjoyed dinner in hotel restaurant on two nights.

Review 9:We arrived at 1230 but room was not available until 3 pm (which is the said check-in time) No beach nearby, you need to bike 20-30 minutes to other villages to get to a good beach

Review 10:Location - bus drops 5 mins away, located at the central square, however the church bell tolls every hour, so difficult for light sleepers Our rooms was good sized - but slightly strangely shaped There are 2 bike rentals in the village

Review 11:Parking a fair walk away and too many dogs joined their owners in the dining area.

Review 12:Friendly, noisy, bustling with activity and language no barrier. Rely efficient kitchen and services.

Review 13:Rooms are rather ordinary but this means they are not too expensive compared with their glitzy neighbours.

Review 14:Superb position in exquisite village. Friendly staff and good food. Hotel has been the bar and center of the village for years.

Review 15:Curtain in the shower. The 9 EUR breakfast is the same breakfast as served to the public (coffee, juice, bread and jams, no choice). If eating dinner at the restaurant make sure to avoid mussels. Other food may be good - we were attracted by a pleasant smell - but we did't want to take any more chances.

Review 16:Nice room and common areas decorated in good taste. Comfortable bed.

Review 17:it rained!

Review 18:Location facing in the church in the delightful town of As on the magical ile de re. Room off to the side so isolated from street noise. Very friendly welcome and a great breakfast. Easy access to the coast and quayside restaurants. Food looked good but we didn't, try. Parking ok.

Review 19:No air conditioning in the rooms Wifi only in public areas

Review 20:In centre of the village Nice hotel to eat in Boulangerie close by Lovely church opposite

Review 21:The derilict house behind had a shutter that banged all night , not the Hotels fault but they should talk to the owners, ie the Marie.

Review 22:First class breakfast with home baked breads.

Review 23:It would be nice if the wifi could be made available in the bedrooms

Review 24:Great location

Review 25:Reception not very hospitable, breakfast very expensive, parking half hour walk away!

Review 26:Excellent location, rooms very comfortable.

Review 27:Air con would have been nice touch

Review 28:Location and quality of staff - also design and general vibe

Review 29:Wonderful location.

Review 30:Set in a lovely village

Review 31:Free Wifi quite flaky in bar area and not much available in bedroom

Review 32:Lovely location, nice room and nice breakfast

Review 33:There was no wifi. The older kids were lost without it!

Review 34:The area is very beautiful and the hotel is close to everything. Perfect.

Review 35:Too expensive Noisy at night

Review 36:Friendly staff Clean rooms

Review 37:Friendly welcome on arrival. Clean, well-decorated rooms. Pleasant bar and restaurant. Good location for cycling. Free parking a short distance away.

Review 38:laissez-faire attitude -but may be that was the ambience & we just didn't get it. All very casual on arrival -considering we booked 2 rooms in Feb one was ok and the other looked as though kids allocated for the kids.

Review 39:location and the view.

Review 40:The hotel had a lovely relaxed feel about the place. I loved the décor in the restaurant and in the rooms. The staff were really helpful and friendly even in their busiest times. The location was perfect. And most importantly it was very good value for money. We shall return.

Review 41:Now we know why it's called Le Clocher! The bells in the tower inthe main square ring through the night. (Although I know there'snothing the hotel can do about this!)

Review 42:Comfortable room, friendly staff, helpful to visitors who don'tspeak much French!

Review 43:Given the modest prices of the rooms, we thought breakfast was a bit pricey at 9 euros per person, and went to the bakers' shop opposite instead. The restaurant food is good but the staff seem a bit overwhelmed and service is on the slow side. It's worth noting that it's more of a motel set up, you get your keys from the restaurant and find your own way to the rooms, with no staff actually on site in the hotel wing. The family are happy with 2 star status and don't offer extra services such as taxi reservations, for example.

Review 44:Le Clocher is a two star hotel with pleasant rooms, no frills, ideally situated in the very centre of the very picturesque village of Ars, opposite the village church. A Parisian family took over the hotel 3 years ago and have given it a cheap and cheerful makeover. We had adjoining rooms which were perfect for adults traveling with children, and a shared bathroom with bathtub.

Review 45:Breakfast could be a bit more elaborated. However we were in low season.

Review 46:Great price Great people Great location Large room

Review 47:parking not close to the hotel

Review 48:friendly, well located, good value

Review 49:Friendly staff Location in village square
