Reviews for Hotel Metropol Garni

Review 1:Nothing really. I'd go back if I need to.

Review 2:No frills, simple hotel, but it works. They kindly waited for me to arrive late at night (the front desk typically closes by 18:00). Breakfast was adequate, and the room was very clean. The shutters were definitely appreciated.

Review 3:The city is on top of a parking lot, so this is a bit strange. However, the entrance is very easy to find, and there is a very short and safe way to reach the city center through the parking lot.

Review 4:Great breakfast, and also the lady preparing it and taking care of the reception was really, really nice.

Review 5:Finding the entrance a bit of a challange if driving on your own

Review 6:Very helpful young lady at the desk. Stopped overnight on my way from Paris to Munich.

Review 7:This hotel is overpriced and sterile- it's in an office section of a building that is primarily a parking garage. There is no lobby accessible from the street, and no directions given that the elevator requires a key to get to the upper floors unless buzzed in. My room's only window was covered by an exterior metal awning that could not be opened, rattled in the track, and prevented air flow or view. The reception staff was not well trained and shrugged when asked if there was a portable fan. The room was no better than a basic dorm room in a U.S. college.

Review 8:The breakfast was adequate and breakfast room, which was the only public space available of any size, was someplace to sit.

Review 9:Parking arrangements were strange, key lock in lift. Clarity of booking for a single person using double room.

Review 10:Cleanliness, location, staff and breakfast.

Review 11:The hotel is above a ground floor Chinese restaurant and built into theside of a car park which makes the 3rd floor reception difficult to findas it is accessed via an intercom button and door in a passageway to theright of the restaurant. Its ok once you known where to go.

Review 12:The lady who ran the reception, prepared breakfast and cleaned the roomswas very pleasant and efficient. The hotel was well placed for a shortwalk to the old town centre. The adjacent car park was useful.

Review 13:The bed linen is very coarse and the pillows and duvet covers very heavy. Breakfast choices were limited for an expensive hotel.

Review 14:Receptionist was very good - friendly and welcoming. The room was fresh and airy.

Review 15:Nothing,everything perfect.

Review 16:Clean airy and modern with a nice little balcony. Felt very homely, not your typical faceless hotel.Friendly, helpful staff - Severin was especially pleasant.Good breakfast. No road noise.Pleasant 10 minute walk into Tubingen which is lovely.Good Chinese restaurant on the ground floor, lots of other restaurants within walking distance.Highly recommend.

Review 17:- The room was very clean, but it was very smelly. The smell came from the drainage in the bathroom. After flush with water, the smell was gone. - The towers were too old. They need to be replaced.

Review 18:+ Location (walking distance from/to main railway station and the city center) + The man at the reception was very friendly + Quiet place

Review 19:The entrance to Hotel Garni is difficult to find as the sign for the hotel very small and the entrance non-obvious. The sole method to enter the hotel before registering is to press a small button among the other building residents' buzzers (professional offices) on a side door. Then the hotel staff answer and allow the exterior door to open and the elevator to work. Once registered, guests received a key for the outer door and to operate the elevator. This works without problem, but for North Americans it will seem very odd. Hotels in Germany sometimes exist only on upper floors, but the entry to Hotel Garni seemed particularly obscure. However, once you know where it is, there is no problem.

Review 20:Very good location, quiet, clean rooms, friendly staff at what appears to be a family-run hotel. The hotel is connected to an above ground parking garage. This might sound, unpleasant, but is actually an advantage, as a very convenient pedestrian bridge crosses the busy street and makes access to Tübingen much easier and more pleasant. This modern and well-lit pedestrian bridge leads to the parking garage / hotel building and, indeed, directly to the parking garage elevator. Take that to the bottom then walk to the other elevator (not far) and take this other elevator into the hotel which operates on floors 3 and 4.

Review 21:Hotel is part of a parking tower with no main street entrance; no ambience; quite a hike to town center, walking tour and restaurants.

Review 22:Not much; the room, breakfast, service were all just OK. Tubingen, on the other hand, is very charming, with great historical and cultural sites.

Review 23:no mirror in the elevator (my wife made me write this) :)

Review 24:Top location, not far from the centre of Tübingen with direct access to a parking. The breakfast was simple but very fresh, friendly staff, great balcony and clean rooms. Probably one of the best hotels in Tübingen...

Review 25:Not a real problem, but the hotel was a little hard to find! It's located in a car park, on the third floor. I finally asked at the Chinese restaurant on the ground floor -- they pointed me to a nondescript door on the side and I finally found the bell. A little better signage perhaps would help Americans who are not accustomed to European hotels being tucked away! But not a serious problem.

Review 26:Staff was quite helpful and friendly; rooms very clean and simple but nicely furnished. Wish the weather had allowed me to take advantage of the wonderful little balcony with cafe table!

Review 27:Outside of the historic medieval Tübingen stadt, but only a 10 minute walk away, so not really a problem!

Review 28:Good service and excellent value with easy access to the main train station.

Review 29:The hotel doesn't look like much from outside so we were a bit confused as to where it was initially. The lift is key operated so best to call up if you have heavy luggage. Whilst it was an easy 10-15 min walk to the centre, the carpark stairs and bridge overpass might not feel very safe if you were by yourself.

Review 30:Parking directly next to the hotel was very convenient and easy to find with the GPS. The room was spacious and comfy with a nice balcony, had it been warm enough. Good spread at breakfast.

Review 31:This is a very minor point, but I would have liked a toaster for the bread at breakfast!

Review 32:The room was clean and comfortable, and there was a very nice terrace, with a table and a chair. I arrived later than 6 pm because of a train problem, called them, and they were very nice to wait for my arrival (they are there at the reception only partially during the day, but once you have checked in you can access the hotel with your room's key that makes the lift go up). The hotel is not in the center, but it is possible to walk from it to the Neckar in less then 10 minutes, thanks to a tunnel that brings you straight to the river. Another positive point: the station is very closedn thanks to another tunnel.

Review 33:On arrival the lift doesn't go to the 3rd or 4th floor (your room key later enables this), so it was a bit confusing. The receptionist was upstairs, heard us and called down to us that she would buzz the lift up. Later in the day there was no receptionist, so it was important that we had given our approximate arrival time, or we may have found it hard to get in.

Review 34:Close to station (10 minutes walk) and to Altstadt (also 10 minutes). Breakfast from 7, which suited us well as we had an early departure. Great facilities, all clean and safe. We had a balcony too, with a small table and two chairs, that caught the afternoon and early evening sunshine. Lovely! V. good shower.

Review 35:an odd smell coming from the bathroom. definitely expensive compared to same-level/same-kind of hotels in other places (no frills, nothing fancy, functional), but maybe the cost is average for Germany, and simply Germany is more expensive than, let's say, France or Italy, honestly we couldn't say.

Review 36:good position, parking place available, great breakfast. our room had a terrace with table & chairs, after walking around Tubingen for the whole day we ended up dining on that terrace under a wonderful full moon, and it has been a great night! at first sight, the hotel seems unpromising (it is in the top floors of a modern, plain, concrete car-parking building), but don't be fooled, it really is a good place to visit Tubingen.

Review 37:Homeliness has its downsides - I was asked to return the parking ticket into the hotel post-box - which was quite inconvenient to do, after the car was out of the garage, so not really a thing hotel guest should need to worry about

Review 38:The hotel is on the 3rd/4th floor of the modern building, above some offices/notary?. Reception feels like visiting someone's flat and the room itself is quite big with a balcony with a view of a quiet suburb of Tubingen. Receptionist was a bit insensitive but that's probably just German way of doing things. Hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Tubingen Altstadt and parking is right next to the hotel itself. There was a bottle of water in the room (always nice) and a couple of chocolates on the large bed, covered in lovely linen. Felt very homely :) Plus Germans won the world cup that night ! Ah and hotel called us when we were on the motorway to inform us about the fact that one needs to go up to reception first to pick up hotel parking ticket.

Review 39:The ugly smell in the bathroom. It is not very easy to find the hotel, although you can manage.

Review 40:The receptionist is very kind and speaks several languages. Breakfast is alright.

Review 41:The breakfast was wonderful.

Review 42:nothing really

Review 43:7 mins walk to the old town, good value

Review 44:The hostess was wonderful, the food delicious, and the location quiet and convenient

Review 45:Breakfast not good Wifi very weak signal in the room

Review 46:Friendly staff Clean rooms

Review 47:A little expensive.

Review 48:the bed, the Chinese restaurant under the hotel - waste of money

Review 49:Location

Review 50:not very friendly, quite cool, not charming

Review 51:close to the center

Review 52:Delicious breakfast!

Review 53:room temperature was difficult to control.

Review 54:good parking facility, easy access to local highway and main train station. short walk to good eateries

Review 55:breakfast was not good, really poor

Review 56:None

Review 57:Your receptionist

Review 58:The Internet acces was very slowly in a room. It was a big problem.

Review 59:Too much noise outside due to a big parking close to the Hotel and a lot of traffic

Review 60:Staff always gentle and available

Review 61:We hardly could find usable electric powerpoint in the room.

Review 62:Very economical (small), but practical room. Very economical, but efficient service.

Review 63:Staff Location Rooms Balcony Comfort

Review 64:The location is peaceful and good to spend some good time.

Review 65:Toilet smells a little strange.

Review 66:Close to the train station. Staffs are very nice. Close to the supermarket.

Review 67:Nice locatio

Review 68:The hotel is across the railway line from the section of the town adjacent to the old city; via the nearby underpass, however, it is only 10 minutes on foot to the old city.

Review 69:A large room with all that you need for a comfortable stay. My room was next to a multi-storey carpark, but this did not detract from the quietness of the room. A good beergarden is nearby (Herzog Ulrich), and an attractive Thai restaurant is in the same building.

Review 70:It is a little hard to find. Needed to be buzzed in to check in, but was able to get in with a key after hours. Desk closes as 6pm.

Review 71:Nice large room. Ours had a balcony and sitting area which was nice. We were very late however the receptionist stayed back to wait for us.

Review 72:Staff was exceptionally helpful. A very quiet location. Easy to find with Google maps from Tubingen HBB. An easy 10 minute walk from south exit of station. Parking lot next to hotel.

Review 73:i liked everything.

Review 74:I enjoyed to stay in the hotel, breakfast is good, the hospitality is wonderful. Also, the location of the hotel is convenient because it's closed to the old city and the main bus and train stations. Moreover, the room was cleaned each day.

Review 75:It is far from the city center and gets quiet at night. Left our bags there after check-out as we were leaving the town later and the bags were placed in an unsecured area.

Review 76:Very simple place with friendly staff - who spoke German, English, French and even some Italian. A little unknown and difficult to find but the locals helped to direct us there. Near to the train station. Breakfast was simple but satisfactory. Tuebingen is a lovely small town, will be back!

Review 77:The bathroom had a bit of funky smell, but it was bearable. The room decor is pretty basic.

Review 78:The staff was so nice! They checked me in late in the evening on Christmas, made sure I got my big cup of coffee and salmon, which I love, for breakfast, and let me leave my luggage after checkout. The view from the balcony is great and the location of the hotel is very convenient.

Review 79:Bed and the blanket could be bigger

Review 80:Almost everything! In order of appearance: Location, staff, the room (beautiful little balcony - in the single room!), breakfast, and staff again

Review 81:1. No visible and lighted in the evening hjtel marking sign 2. No tea pot set in the room 3. Fuzzy location right inside the parking 4. No dry cleaning and laundry facilities

Review 82:Location in the town, possibility for car parking next door to the hotel, helpful staff

Review 83:You could walk from your balcony to someone else's balcony, which may jeopardize your privacy. And potentially your security.

Review 84:Generally it was everything more than OK. Gentle staff, comfortable room, excellent location, fairly rich breakfast.

Review 85:The Hotel Management & Staff we're 1st Class, They could not do enough for you, We were made to feel at home with them Very Friendly People, The Hotel Breakfast was Excellent and the Room was Large and a very Comfortable Bed & large Bathroom as I am a Special Needs Person Using a Mobility Scooter, Security was Tops as you cannot use the Elevator without a Key and you cannot gain Entry via Stairs only to Locked door on Reception, Gerry & Geraldine McIn, Shannon, Co Clare, Ireland.

Review 86:Family atmosphere, friendly staff. Room was clean and bright with a nice small balcony. A little bit far from the city centre, though very easy to reach.

Review 87:No staff after 6 PM. Fairly crummy-looking area. Access to city via footpath over train tracks. Totally lacking in atmosphere -- but to be fair it's a one-star.

Review 88:Clean room, quite good breakfast, convenient parking, reasonably easy access to town. Decent value for money.

Review 89:The hotel represents two floors in the building of other appointment, I like traditional hotels more strongly inflated price for such conditions

Review 90:Located 700 metres from Tübingen Old Town, all room with a balcony, free WiFi

Review 91:It was a little hard to find the entrance, but found it round the corner. You have to ring the buzzer for Hotel Garni then wait until they let you up in the lift.

Review 92:Nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Within walking distance of the town centre. Free internet, nice breakfast.

Review 93:The room and bathroom are small. The location is off the main area but very quiet.

Review 94:The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the balcony and view.

Review 95:Lack of atmosphere, it felt more like a doctor's office, not a hotel The staff did fine but I assume they were students not actual, trained hotel workers. The professional touch was missing. A simple "welcome" and a smile would have been a great plus.

Review 96:A very peaceful place, silent neighborhood, silent hotel The train station and old town both close Clean Tübingen itself is charming

Review 97:Helpfulness and welcoming from staff. Also very understanding when we were delayed arriving.

Review 98:Nothing.

Review 99:Clean, efficient. Positive staff. Near station, 10min walk from town.

Review 100:A little extra help , trying to find a hotel for 1 more night.

Review 101:The staff was very nice.

Review 104:bad Wifi ... bed comforter too short (just the size of the bed )

Review 105:nice breakfast and location next to innercity.

Review 106:The internet didn't work at all.

Review 107:Very good location, clean and comfortable.

Review 108:Difficult to find. You need the key to get access to the reception...... How did they plan this ?

Review 109:Kleen and tidy room.

Review 110:not easy to find.

Review 111:friednly staff, clean, internet, nice breakfast

Review 112:Clean , modern rooms

Review 113:As with all European hotels British guests are used to making their own cups of tea in their room.

Review 114:The spacious room.

Review 115:very clean, quiet room. Staff friendly and helpful. Great for short stay.

Review 116:Lower contact with stuff, but its OK for tranquility.

Review 117:Very comfortable and good environment.

Review 118:Friendly owner. Good location. Good room and value for money.
