Reviews for Hostal Catalina Vera

Review 1:Nothing! Great value for the money.

Review 2:Hostel and staff were brilliant. For the price we paid we thought it was excellent value. Will go back and will recommend to others.

Review 3:There is only one thing that really bothered me: No wifi whatsoever in the room. I mean there is a free wifi in the breakfast room, but absolutely no internet in the rooms at all. It's basically the only downside in my opinion.

Review 4:Great place to stay in the posh town of Port Andrax. Lovely and very helpful host! Speaks most languages and is always smiling. Not much left of the spanish way of life on this island anyway, but this place is unique and the total opposite to one of these big hotel complexes with big pools in the middle. Actually there is no pool and I think this makes sort of a difference. So it's the perfect place for the individual traveller. Right behind all the bars and restaurants, which is pretty handy. - By the way: I thought there are bars and restaurants on both sides of the harbour, but they are actually almost all on this side. Parking is available too which is a big plus in this small town. Loved the place, can recommend it!

Review 5:No door for the toillet can be a bit strange to handle...

Review 6:Very attentive and friendly staff. It makes everything more valuable. Location is very good.

Review 7:The hostel was ideally located within the port with on site parking. It was a unique experience staying there, albeit only one night, as we found it a bit quirky but in a pleasant way.

Review 8:Having to leave :-(

Review 9:When you arrive at Hostal Catalina Vera you will receive a wonderful and warm welcome from Pablo who is the son of the owners of the Hotel and the second generation to manage it. The Hotel is set in the heart of Port Andthrax, nestled at the foot of the mountain and surrounded by trees. From this vantage spot, you feel the lovely sea breeze as you gaze down to the bustle along the sea front (which is a one minute walk away). The hostal has a wonderful traditional Catalan feel to it, with a quiet and peaceful garden filled with hibiscus, catii and grape vines all intertwined. Breakfast is taken in the large, peaceful and airy main house, with each table being served a tray of local bread, meat and cheese, accompanied by fresh fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea, coffee, breakfast bars etc etc what a wonderful way to start a day :-) If you are looking for a wonderful welcome and a traditional Spanish feel in a quiet and peaceful location then this is most definitely the place to stay. The place of many returns for many people.

Review 10:The staff are very friendly/welcoming. The room was lovely, clean and simple. The gardens are beautiful. The location is seconds from the town centre.

Review 11:AC would have been nice. There are cats in the garden (friendly ones) so people suffering from allergies needs to be careful leaving doors and windows open...

Review 12:This is a genuine and "Spanish" type of hotel. Very well located and with a fantastic host! We had a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen and a terrace. Nice and Clean. Good beds and a big bathroom. The week we spent there was very, very hot and we were given a fan for the bedroom since there is no AC. It worked well but it was still very hot during the nights. It is a oasis in busy Puerto Andraxt and very quiet. The parking is good to have since parkingspace is difficult to get in the town otherwise. This is a hotel that must be fantastic during spring and fall. A bit too hot during the warmest period though since there is no AC or pool. We will for sure come back another time!

Review 13:No aircondition and wifi connection only in limited area and if poor speed

Review 14:Super friendly manager pablo and excellent location with great value for money

Review 15:Very clean hotel! The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Review 16:Pablo was the most helpful professional owner that cannot do enough for you. Provided information of the area where to eat and visit together with the most friendly approachable manner

Review 17:the pillows were flat and not soft. the view from my worn balcony area was of the overgrown garden. no parasol on the courtyard - very exposed to the sun

Review 18:Location very convenient, pleasing personal service,

Review 19:For those who care: wlan free but didnt work well.

Review 20:Amazing staff! Very helpfull with our little one's needs and with good daytrip tips. Very nice location: central but very calm and relaxing with lovely garden. Do not expect much luxery but everything is made with care.

Review 21:Lack of wifi throughout building Bed was a little firm, but that's probably preference.

Review 22:Nice and clean Pleasant staff Nice layout to the building Close proximity to town Cheaper than most places in town

Review 23:beds creak a bit

Review 24:This is a real one-off, lovingly cared for, simple accommodation with friendly owner, good breakfast and a real refuge from the stresses and strains of a seaside resort. Cats too!

Review 25:Spartan room, the ones we had on ground floor, but clean. Lovely garden in center of the village, so nice! The host family has lived here a long time and you can feel it having breakfast, if you'r not blind or deaf. Enjoy.

Review 26:Shower took a long time to heat up and was very weak on power - needs a pump really. Would have liked some soap in the bathroom. No facility to make tea or coffee.

Review 27:Excellent location, one street back from front but away from noise of the bars and restauarants, very welcoming host, large bedroom and excellent continental breakfast

Review 28:There was nothing I didn't like!

Review 29:A lovely, simple, traditional hotel with a unique eccentric charm. Rooms are spread out over a rambling sequence of patios and staircases in a beautiful garden full of spectacular cactuses; the dining room is filled with extraordinary objects. A warm, friendly welcome - staff were ready to help with every request. I loved it!

Review 30:Beautiful Hostal with a great green garden full of cactus and other plants. The breakfast area and the reception is just like a museum, full of art decorations. Great Staff, very friendly and super service. Thanks Pablo and the others of the team!

Review 31:nothing much. It would be nice to have fridge or an area where one can store some food. Maybe a little communal kitchen. But those are minor points. Very nice stay in total.

Review 32:Staff Location Garden Cleaness

Review 33:Extremely well located near all the restaurants and cafe's whilst still feeling quiet and private as it stands in it's own grounds set back from the port. The facilities were contemporary, very clean and had a lovely rustic feel and the staff were very accommodating and looked after me as I was a girl traveling alone. I was worried about the lack of aircon but the open plan rooms with windows on all sides was airly, light and breezy. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Review 34:A very hospitable family run hotel. Comfortable rooms and in an excellent location. No need to use the car or taxis as everything in walking distance.

Review 35:Excellent location in a pleasant, big property with trees and space for your car, just a few steps from all the bars and restaurants and the coastal promenade of Port d'Andratx, but also very relaxing and quiet at the same time. The owner Pablo is very kind and helpful, gave us a great wellcome and very useful tips and information for nice places to visit. The breakfast was really good and rich and served in a lovely, full of antiques living room. The hotel has overall a very cozy and feel-like-home atmosphere. If we also had a small fridge in our room it would be just perfect! We will definetly come back again in our next visit in Majorca!

Review 36:Would have been nice to have an electric fan.

Review 37:Friendly and accommodating staff. Peace and quiet - no TV! Breakfast Location one street back from Port-side but extremely quiet.

Review 38:nothing

Review 42:L'aspect traditionnel, typique et authentique. La sympathie du personnel.

Review 43:Thin walls - you could hear the neighbours very clearly.

Review 44:It was close to the harbour and to cafes and resturants. Lovely garden, welcoming host.

Review 45:Very friendly staff. The hostal is located in the center of the beautiful lively village. Many nice restaurants in walking distance.

Review 46:Welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent location.

Review 48:Really great value for money, fantastic location and very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 49:So cosy and typically Spanish. In a lovely location. Easy access to harbour and other locations.

Review 50:Nothing!

Review 51:Pablo is a excellent, very kind and friendly host. The hostal is very cosy. We spent a really good time.

Review 52:Pablo the host was warm welcoming extremely kind and helpful.Breakfast was plentiful and good quality.

Review 53:The service is above what you will expect with an extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Review 54:The owner was delightful and extremely helpful. Even made us a picnic because of our early departure.

Review 55:Nothing

Review 56:Owners were great everything very clean.will stay there again.

Review 57:The owner is fantastic. He lives on the property and serves breakfast on a tray.

Review 58:We loved the character of this hotel and the fact it was family run. Very friendly and helpful Pablo, the owner.

Review 69:Quiet location

Review 70:nice friendly owner,peaceful gardens.

Review 71:A very nice setting in landscaped garden Just behind the harbour

Review 72:Wi-fi is terrible quality. Need to create some possibilty for hot & cold drinks in reception room during day time & evening.

Review 73:All

Review 74:Very friendly staff and great location.

Review 75:Personal attention & atmosphere Very friendly staff/owner

Review 76:The shower was the worst I have ever used just a dribble then boiling hot then cold then warm then!!!!!! The breakfast was very basic

Review 77:The location was excellent and the gardens were slmple but very pleasant Pablo was an excellent host

Review 78:The location is perfect. Very good breakfast but the friendliness and helpfulness shown to us by Pablo and his family will be our lasting memory of this place.

Review 79:A little haven in the middle of a small bustling port. Rooms are comfortable without being lavish. The main plus point of the property is the stunning garden, and the fact that it has been owned by the same Mallorquin family for generations. You couldn't wish for a more welcoming friendly host than Pablo. One block from the water front and lots of restaurants.

Review 80:Can be noisy, especially at weekends from local bars. Not rowdy just nice people enjoying themselves.

Review 81:Location and grounds lovely and convenient for shops and restaurants. Homely atmosphere. Great owners and staff. Good breakfast. Parking and own entrance a bonus. Wi-Fi very handy. Pablo was the most friendly helpful person you could wish for with great advice and local knowledge.

Review 82:Wifi did not work when Pablo was not there and his parents were unwilling to help (and I speak Spanish). The breakfast was sub-par. After 4 days there both my husband and I left will bug bites (not mosquitos) on our face and arms and they are not gone yet. The room and blankets needed to be fumigated.

Review 83:Nothing of any significance.

Review 84:We were warmly welcomed and treated kindly throughout our stay. The breakfast was wholesome if a little predictable. A small fridge in the room would have been nice. But we enjoyed our candlelit evenings on the balcony listening to a little soft music and watching the stars. Very pleasant surroundings.

Review 85:In our room there was no door between the bathroom/toilet and the bedroom, so no privacy at all. We stayed in a modern hotel on Kos (Greece) last year with the same set up. When we complained we were given a room with doors. Why do some hotels not believe in privacy ?.

Review 86:fantastic location. Comfortable bed. Easy parking within grounds of hotel. Friendly staff.

Review 87:Some people in the group were cold at night and there is no wifi.

Review 88:The staff were excellent, very kind and very helpful. Had a great knowledge of the area and spoke very good English. All of us enjoyed our stay and thought the hostal looked beautiful. Even though there is no wifi the area is just stunning, so it's not the end of the world.

Review 89:Directions to hostel Took us on a circuitous route and the last two directions were unclear. No soap Chilly ( November) no heat in room Need for a toaster at breakfast Soundproofing poor, voices and toilet noises carry into adjoining rooms

Review 90:Location very convenient Friendly staff Good parking Staff happily provided more breakfast e.g bread, ham Helpful on telephone and for late checking in owing to aeroplane times

Review 91:absent of teapot and fridge in the room, sometimes it is noisy from nearby street

Review 92:great location, just 3min from the coast with lots of shops, cafe &restaurants. Hotel itself is very calm place with great garden and trees on the backyard, terrace with nice view, room is basic but very comfy, free parking near the rooms

Review 93:I would have appreciated a kettle to make tea/coffee, and perhaps a small frig.

Review 94:I enjoyed the simple , clean, rooms without TV etc. The view from my balcony, the quiet gardens. The hotel is only a few minutes from the sea. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would like to return.

Review 95:The breakfast could be a little better, for example with some fresher bread. The room was dark.

Review 96:Very nice staff and good location, free parking, old fashioned spanish feeling. Nice garden.

Review 97:Fantastic owner Pedro who introduced himself knowing my name in the courtyard. He allowed us use the whole apartment til the evening on checkout day without question of payment and just a smile

Review 98:The ambiance was rustic, yet accommodating for needs like internet and tourist information...the complimentary breakfast was lovely, and the staff went above and beyond to meet the needs of those lodged there. The atmosphere is serene and tranquil, with a fantastic location that is close to restaurants and shopping, yet far enough removed that the days and nights are quiet. The rooms are minimal yet chic, with very nice lighting, and the windows and doors are designed such that they are also breezy.

Review 99:My husband and I recently enjoyed a fabulous weekend here whilst visiting to celebrate my sister's wedding. Pablo and his family are warm, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. It really felt like visiting a close relative and I'm looking forward to returning to this little haven of tranquillity. The family were extremely accommodating with Pablo taking time out of his busy schedule to regale us with an interesting account of the local and family history. This was, in truth, probably the best hotel experience I have ever enjoyed and we will most certainly be returning in the near future! Thanks so much for everything!

Review 100:Very slow wifi connection, and only available in the main dinner room. Breakfast was a bit plain.

Review 101:We loved the location Huge choice of good restaurants Simple yet very clean rooms

Review 102:There may be some cracked tiles in your room, and the hot water may be a little slow in reaching your tap. But I do not care, the hotel is operated by the same Family that founded it in the fourties - 3rd generation (2nd generation mother is still around). Before being a hotel it was the family home of this same Family of fishermen for 300 years. The host is friendly, human, knowledgeable and proud. I'll trade that for instant hot Water, anytime!

Review 103:After thinking about it,I cannot find something that I did not like.

Review 104:The Hostal Catalina was a beautiful surprise:the location is perfect, the room big and with all conforts and the staff friendly and always ready to help you.I felt more at home than in a hotel. After a day on the beach it was a pleasure to get back to the hostal and relax within its calm, green and silent surroundings. The Hostal also has big rooms with patio/balcony for families.I loved it and it will definetely a place to go back to!

Review 105:The breakfast was very basic and coffee of poor quality. Don't bother with breakfast and enjoy the area instead

Review 106:The location in Port d'Antratx is just perfect, quite area only a minute walk to the sea front and shops. The rooms are very basic with no TV or toiletries but very clean and functional. The staff are very helpful and informative. Car parking was available on-site (ignore the no entry sign and drive in)

Review 107:Second time here - as good as it gets!

Review 108:Friendly relaxed atmosphere, quiet yet convenient location, the "no frills" accommodation attracts similar guests - in the best possible way! Lovely gardens, no pressure to leave room during the day.

Review 109:Excellent family run hotel, speaking great english. Very old property sympathetically furnished with a great atmosphere.Breakfast was continental and good

Review 110:Well run family small hotel. Staff all v, nice and lovely gardens withwide variety of cactus etc. Have a look at Francesco's paintings onthe walls of the dining room in oils and gouache.

Review 111:The wi fi didn't work for us Why don't they use fresh orange for breakfast? We can't get this in England so it would be a real treat.

Review 112:Big comfortable beds Location Outdoor space Room was large, airy with modern bathrooms and balcony. Would definitely stay again
