Reviews for Thalacap Ars-en-Ré
Review 1:The evening meal food was excellent when it eventually arrived. We and others waited an unbelievably long to receive a menu, a drink and ultimately the food. There appeared to be a shortage of printed menus and an absence of experienced front of house active management in the dining room.
Review 2:Individual members of staff were attentive and helpful.
Review 3:We were disappointed that there wasn't the option of sitting outside for either breakfast or dinner, photos had indicated this would be possible. Insufficient number of undamaged sun loungers by pool. Poor quality coffee at breakfast.
Review 4:Proximity to Ars en Re and great opportunities for cycling. Very pleasant meals in the evening. Helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant.
Review 6:Very tired looking hotel. The room was dirty, mould in the bathroom and around the bath. With a lovely view of the restaurants bins and the delivery bay, you can imagine the noise. The smell of chemicals like a hospital in all the hotel and in the room is terrible. Disorganized breakfast, what is going on? The worst part was the outdoor pool the bottom of the pool was green and the joints were full of red and black mould. The tiles were broken in and around the pool, making it dangerous for kids. Disgusting!
Review 7:The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room and the bed was big The food at breakfast was nice.
Review 8:Breakfast could have dine withsomething hot. More could be made of the pool area. In need of a bit of updating but excellent balue for money.
Review 9:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was superb.
Review 10:The rooms are a bit perfunctory. The breakfast is relatively basic. There were no appointments left at the thalasso for us other than a paltry 30 min at 8:30am so we cannot really comment on that aspect other than to say that the sauna, hammam, and salt-water pool were appreciated but that the staff must be underpaid because they were all sort of grumpy and not all that friendly.
Review 11:The property is very attractive and bright and the swimming pool large and inviting.
Review 12:Uncomfortable beds & pillows, dated rooms.
Review 13:Very basic room but worked well with dogs. Close to a lovely village - Ars-en-Re - plenty of on site parking & bikes. Friendly staff.
Review 14:Modest rooms but convenient with access to the spa and bicycles available for that true French feel. Beautiful island.
Review 15:diner
Review 16:swimmingpool inside
Review 17:Restaurant atmosphere hectic and chaotic during breakfast and dinner
Review 18:Comfortably sized room Quiet location
Review 19:outdoor pool could be cleaner.
Review 20:Good self catering facilities if booking a self catering apartment.
Review 21:The wifi was cumbersome and the buffet breakfast was busy with poor coffee
Review 22:The position and the spacious room.
Review 23:the spa was poor, clammy and not welcoming
Review 24:Free parking, welcomed at reception and helpful and then left alone to our holiday
Review 25:Breakfast service chaotic
Review 26:Staff very helpful and friendly good at solving questions
Review 27:the room, pool, staff, garden,
Review 28:Room was not ready at 4 PM by check in announced time. Pillows are too tiny. WiFi requested to reconect every 3 hours.
Review 29:The restaurant staff were a little too snooty, as were the indoor pool / spa staff.
Review 30:The outdoor pool. Comfortable room. Convenient bike hire.
Review 31:Too far from town centre, no lounge or anywhere to relax in the evenings, food good but pricey.
Review 32:Very clean , friendly staff, comfortable room,
Review 33:- the staff were not friendly given our inability to speak French. - robes given in spa had stains - Spa zone not particularly attractive for a hotel of this standard
Review 34:- breakfast - close to the sea side, but not to city centre
Review 35:the very small space where you took breakfast food; there were mornings when the only choice of bread was baguette one morning it was hard; the tension at breakfast - not there in other parts of hotel;
Review 36:Most of the staff; especially Marie at reception; Monique chamber maid and the woman at the pool reception; the cost of pool sandals
Review 37:The service in the restaurant in the evening was rather slow as there were usually just three waiters/waitresses for a large number of diners.
Review 38:Good location for exploring the western side of Isle de Re. Convenient that the hotel hired out bicycles. Pleasant large restaurant which served evening meals as well as breakfasts with a terrace also.
Review 39:The kitchen facilities - cooker, fridge etc - were fine but there was a shortage of utensils for food preparation eg small sharp knives, and no kettle.
Review 40:We stayed in a duplex apartment so could make use of the self-catering facilities. It was comfortable and ideal for our purpose - exploring Ile de Re - but is not a spa hotel in the super class. But this is reflected in the mederate price. We did not use the spa at all so cannot comment on that. We liked the location as it was convenient for Ars-en-Re, with a few nice restaurants etc. Staff were helpful and friendly, and it is comfortably furnished.
Review 41:The apartment was a bit dark and gloomy, with a big tree outside preventing much light entering the room.
Review 42:I liked the swimming pool. We didn't use the restaurant as we had an apartment and were able to use the facilities there for meals.
Review 43:the rules, too many, we arrived too early and left to early. All of which distressed reception. Very overpriced, rooms like Premier inn for high cost. No appreciation of small childrens needs, we were given a room that opened on to a carpark, for 150 Euros. Children trapped inside.
Review 44:the lawn
Review 45:Room overlooked carpark. Not ideal! No real kids meal option in hotel. It was just a smaller version of an adult meal so not always suitable.
Review 46:Good pool. Good location 100m from beach. Good food in restaurant. Helpful staff.
Review 47:Swimming pool very noisy - lots of young children - which is fine but they tended to deter older people from using the pool.
Review 48:Good location, great facilities, excellent restaurant.
Review 49:we didn't stay longer
Review 50:very clean, well appointed, staff very friendley
Review 51:We wanted to go to a town or closer to La Rochelle in the evening and it wasn't possible to get a taxi?????
Review 52:that you now have to pay for the spa facilities
Review 53:the fact there is a fridge in the room it gives freedom to come and go as you please
Review 54:A safe in every room would be helpful.
Review 55:Everything about it - we truly enjoyed our stay there and it helped to provide for us a wonderful holiday.
