Reviews for The Plantation Urban Resort and Spa

Review 1:Walls were paper thin. I was awoken at 12.30 by loud voices from the neighbouring room. I could hear almost every word. It continued until after 3am. I did report it at reception the next day and that evening the next door guests seemed to use slightly quieter voices until only midnight.

Review 2:Attractive foyer. Restaurant was very good with attentive staff. Staff in general were polite and helpful. Pool environment very attractive. Good WIFI Good choice at breakfast which was taken at the poolside Walking distance from the river front and Royal Palace Generally a good place to stay away from the busyness of the city.

Review 3:Staff, location, atmosphere, contemporary design. Swimming pool and private cabanas. Good choice of food for breakfast. Helpful staff when we had a problem with our master card.

Review 4:We liked the room, it was tastefully decorated and quiet. But the cleanliness of the room left to be desired. Hair and other dirt had accumulated behind the toilet door. And the room in general just felt a bit dusty. It spoiled what would have been a perfect stay.

Review 5:We loved the location, walking distance from the palace and the river front. The pool area is absolutely amazing, an oasis in the middle of the city. Breakfast is the best we had during or trip through Cambodia.

Review 6:I hate when to know that visitor ( whatever friends or families ) can NOT go inside the guest room. Very dissapointed !!!

Review 7:I love the entrace interior design, also nice Resto concept.

Review 8:We booked a Standard Special-deal double room which was as described. The small balcony faced a quiet town area which was probably why the cleaning staff did not bother cleaning the balcony. A lot of bird poo on the chairs and floor. Would upgrade to a room with balcony to the pool.

Review 9:Beautiful pool area. Very clean. Great area to unwind after a day of sightseeing. 2 restaurants, one for guests only. The Pergola restaurant upstairs is for hotel guests and public. Both restaurants serve excellent Asian and Western food. Great to see a hotel with a socially responsable approach to tourism in South East Asia. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 10:The gym meeds the same facelift that the rest of the hotel has received.

Review 11:It is the genuine concern the staff show towards their guests which sets this hotel apart and makes it the hotel we stay in when in Phnom Pehn

Review 12:Breakfasts were quite ordinary.

Review 13:The pool was stunning with private cabanas. The reception area was in the original building which has been beautifully restored.

Review 14:Having to leave! We would easily have stayed longer.

Review 15:This was so well located and the decor was very nicely done! The Pergola restaurant was super and the pools were lovely and nice that they were open until 10 in the evening.

Review 16:Too many flies at breakfast, so we ate somewhere else after the first day. (This is why the cleanliness score is so low.)

Review 17:The rooms (size and decor) and staff were great.

Review 18:there were too many bugs (both indoors and outdoors)

Review 19:The location was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The design of the hotel was very nice too.

Review 20:Our shower set up was poorly constructed: shower head didn't swivel and faced shower door, which had gap either side, so every shower caused embarrassing flood in rest of bathroom area. Solution was to use very low pressure, but not very satisfactory.

Review 21:Wonderful hotel in central location. Loved it! Apart from challenging shower and a balcony you'd never use [cramped and directly under air con outlet for room above!] the room was comfortable, and the staff delightful. Very good breakfast, lovely area around pool, very 'plantation-like' foliage. We ate 3 nights at poolside café/bar where food was excellent. Try the beef carpaccio! Tuk tuks at the door, and very helpful staff. Would highly recommend. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Review 22:Ants ants ants. Ants everywhere. I'm disappointed in the room hotel as I just left my food in the table and noticed after a few hours that ants are all over the room. The hotel is quite expensive for this kind of service. What the funny thing is, they didn't recommend or suggest anything to make this right. I have to request for baygon to kill those pests! Very disappointing. Also, the shower has no door! Seriously? So the floor which is connected to the bedroom will be wet after you take the shower.

Review 23:Welcome drink. Thats all.

Review 24:Room design is a matter of taste. I guess the intention of the minimalistic, simple design was to associate a room at a plantation. Personally I felt it didn't go well with the very luxurious rest of the hotel.

Review 25:Excellent hotel! Great design, beautiful pool, excellent restaurant food, perfect location for sightseeing, helpful and friendly staff. I just wish we had more time to enjoy it all!

Review 26:The bathroom was not separate from the bedroom - there was no door or privacy. You could watch tv in the shower! The shower drain in one of the rooms was blocked.

Review 27:Pleasant environment. The gardens and pool were lovely

Review 28:The bathroom shall have curtains, in case someone wants to share a room.

Review 29:Great natural ambience. Loved it raining in the evening sitting at the balcony, looking at the bamboo shoot :)

Review 30:Everything was fantastic.

Review 31:Wow! The hotel was beautiful! 5 star. The service was wonderful. This includes the doormen, concierge, waiters, and cleaning service. The rooms were spotless and clean. Couldn't ask better location.

Review 32:One minor thing: there is very little chance to sunbathe at the pool, as the trees surround the pool and create too much shade. But the garden is beautiful, so it's not a big problem

Review 33:The hotel is beautiful, the room are very comfortable and the staff very helpful. It's an easy, pleasant walk to the Royal Palace or the Mekong, and everything else can be easily arranged with the hotel (from organised tours of the city to arranging a tuktuk to explore the city "solo").

Review 34:the selection of the food is not so much, prefer to have more Asian Food, e.g. Local Khmer food.

Review 35:fantastic experience in this resort, not big hotel but boutique

Review 36:Good location and love that the Tuk Tuk is reliable and Wear friends of plantation shirt so we know it can be trusted. The staff is ever ready to give suggestions and advice

Review 37:Two points - we asked for a room with a pool view. We were facing the pool, however the amount of vegetation meant we could not see the pool. That was really disappointing. As far as I could see there were maybe only 5/6 rooms with a genuine pool view which were opposite the pool bar and restaurant. At times communication was difficult as the level of English varied considerably

Review 38:An oasis in Phnom Penh. The rooms are big and airy and the pool area is fab. The little cabanas by the pool are truly tropical. The pool bar is great and the Khmer buffet on a Saturday night is excellent.

Review 39:The staff were so friendly and accomodating - we loved it so much we returned for a second stay & the staff gave us a dessert/fruit plate to greet us on our return!

Review 40:Room very poor and cold decor, not very homely ,... too many mosquitos and construction work in surrounding rooms.

Review 41:On arrival the entrance seemed pleasant and the staff friendly. .. that is where it ends....

Review 42:Breakfast is lacking. basic or just lacks flavor choices. No Asian selection on the menu. The staff are a little too strict on who is coming or going, while this is understandable just a little over tense on this.

Review 43:Great facilities - pool brilliant room is nice grounds are good also. Art and interesting fixtures. The gym is also fine moderate but good enough.

Review 44:In a great location, a beautiful hotel, lovely rooms. The restaurant had an excellent menu- traditional Khmer and French. Swimming pool long and picturesque. Breakfast had an excellent choice. This is a fantastic hotel and would highly recommend.

Review 45:So, just minor points: - the room had no view (I knew it, but still...), just a very small "balcony" facing a big wall, with some plants in front of it. But they are renovating this floor, so it could be that things will change here. - acoustic isolation was not good, I am a light sleeper, so at night when people were coming back from bars or so, I woke up because of the noise from the corridor. But the bed was comfy... - the shower in my room was not well planned, water was leaking to the outside area of the bathroom, not so nice...

Review 46:The place is just amazing, a beautiful villa and adjacent buildings, located just behind the National Museum, within walking distance from a lot of nice places: a huge plus in Phnom Penh. Lots of green and light, nice materials, extra friendly staff. But the best thing is that the hotel offers so much, you might not even feel like leaving at all. The breakfast buffet offers fresh nicely cooked dishes (western and eastern style), coffee is quite ok and you can choose from at least 6 different kinds of fresh fruit. The pools (yes, not only one) are beautiful and the common areas are quiet. It´s really a place to relax. I had a nice full body oil massage for 60 minutes, which was totally worth it. The tuk tuk drivers cooperating with the hotel are the best, they really know their way around (which is another big plus for this city) and I went around a lot! Finally, the in-house restaurant offers both khmer and international cuisine, at reasonable (even if mid-range) prices. I wish I could have stayed another night!

Review 47:I assume this hotel was once very beautiful. The maintenance is lacking. the room was dull, the shower and toilette needs new look. Please not the shower is wide-open in some rooms.

Review 48:Location is nice. the Pool area is beautiful. Breakfast is good.

Review 49:Can't think of any!

Review 50:We love the staff. They were helpful and thoughtful. We had a lovely clean room and firm mattresses and the water heater worked! The poolside and pool were tops! Breakfast was very good and so was local cuisine at the Pergola restaurant. Truly a wonderful experience enhanced by free and strong wifi signals!

Review 51:Nothing!

Review 52:The staff was so friendly and accomodating, the resort is beautiful and inviting, and the pool was wonderful! I cannot say enough positives for this place!

Review 53:We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Staff are all very helpful and nice, food in hotel was also very delicious. We had spa during our stay as well and it's very good indeed. Will definitely choose this hotel again if we visit PP again!

Review 54:From the moment stepped into the hotel we knew this was a special place. We considered not leaving to explore Phnom Penh and just enjoy the oasis, but it is so central and close to the Royal Palace, river and the museum. We were upgraded (maybe because they were doing maintenance) and the rooms look better than the photos. The breakfast was a lovely setting by the pool, lots of variety, western and asian choices. You could ask for whatever coffee you want and the delicious yogurt and pastries are made on the premises. The second night my bag was snatched by a motorbike near the hotel, I suffered injuries from the fall. NB. This happens everyday in Phnom Penh, it is very aggressive and dangerous and can happen walking or in a tuk tuk, at 2pm or 11pm. Please take the tuk tuk the hotel recommends and be very vigilant. The next day the staff were amazing. Ensuring I got to a clinic, had a translator take us to the police for a report (which we did not pay for) and offered a free massage. The support, help and kindness we received was incredible. I would also recommend the spa and fitness centre, as a massage therapist myself, I really appreciated the fantastic service and incredible value for money. The reflexology treatment after the incident was so gentle and healing, afterwards she gave me a hug and helped me to my room. I can not recommend this hotel enough, it is one in a million. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us.

Review 55:Tiny tiny observations. Bacon over cooked and the universal problem eith hotel food; it doesn't stay warm very long in the Bain Marie's. (Yes I'm nitpicking!)

Review 56:Everything. Awesome pool ovelooked by breakfast area. Brilliant cheerful helpful staff. Was upgraded to a pool room when I arrived. Great rooms and beds. Should have stayed longer. Away from the noisy end of town but still has 3 or 4 lively adjacent streets.

Review 57:Wonderful hotel in the middle of the city. Within walking distance to several attractions, like Royal Palace and the National Museum. The pool area is very nice and relaxing, you wouldn't think you were in the middle of the busy city when laying by the pool. I also liked the open solution in the hotel room.

Review 58:For the price I found the rooms a bit outdated and in need of some new clean decoration.

Review 59:Great outdoor pool and restaurant area! Yummy food/ drinks/ big breakfast buffet!

Review 60:The rooms were not well insulated around the pool, we could hear our neighbors and had to make some noise complaints but the staff were very responsive.

Review 61:Loved the pool, the breakfast, comfortable beds, pretty decorations, bar by the pool, garden area, location

Review 62:Shower: should have Doors Curtains: only blank curtain/ cannot protect only from sun or to keep privacy and still let enter the light

Review 63:Quite e very green

Review 64:Big spider in the bedroom but expertly dispatch by room service.

Review 65:Pool area and surrounding restaurant facilities. Support from staff. Great breakfast. Easy access on foot or tuk tuk to nightlife area.

Review 66:.....just to be a little "fiddly", found a few hairs in my shower...

Review 67:Fantastic service, great decoration, Internet connection fast, breakfast 1A, *****

Review 68:Nothing to say... Maybe the staff were Too formal and not Too friendly... But this isn't a real problem.

Review 69:The building and the design were Amazing... We went at the pool every afternoon and that's was Amazing to relaxing after an hard day around the city... The breakfast was full of good things.

Review 70:Only thing I did not like was the city the hotel is in .

Review 71:This was a beautiful hotel with beautiful staff . However Phomn Penh is the most disgusting city I've ever seen. I was scared to leave hotel , which was one of the best hotels I've ever seen. A heavenly oasis in hell.

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:excellent rooms, great breakfast close to the pool. Helpful staff and a really fantastic restaurant in the hotel. The best place to stay in Phnom Penh!

Review 74:The downstairs rooms are a little dark - lighter on the higher floors.

Review 75:If you get the chance to stay at this hotel, do. As simple as that. It is simply delightful. An oasis of calm but right in the centre of Phnom Penh. One of the most pleasant hotels I have ever stayed at. I kept extending my stay!

Review 76:There is building work next to the hotel but they try and locate you as far as possible from the noise.

Review 77:Excellent location and a a little oasis in the middle of the city. Far better than the photos. The pool area is fantasic and the Spa a treat.Would go again no problem.i

Review 78:- sometimes too much noise on the hallways - we ended up with a room with a poor view but after a slight complaint were given a better one

Review 79:- friendly staff with good English - very clean rooms (not typical in Asia) - fantastic breakfast - great poolside vibe - good location - tasy welcome drink

Review 80:I don't know if it was my expectations that oversold the idea of this place or the actual experience, but we weren't that impressed. The rooms are not that well laid out, the mosquito netting, while a nice touch, was dusty, and our dinner at the restaurant was disappointing. We were the first table and things started out nicely. However, as soon as a few other tables showed up, the staff went into panic mode. Our mains were good, but the sides ice cold. Our chocolate fondant cake was overlooked but still sent to our table. Then they wanted us to pay for it. French trained chefs, yes. Business trained, no.

Review 81:We liked the accommodation staff and the overall secure feeling of the property. The pool side restaurant was good as well.

Review 82:hotel is in a great location and the staff is super friendly. Hotel has a nice pool and everything in the hotel and rooms is decorated with great sense of style. Breakfast was also delicious!

Review 83:I thought the hotel was a bit small and pokey. being in a square shape with little open space. the staff did not speak very good english and didn't offer much help with taking about surrounding areas or ask if they might be able to help.

Review 84:The hotel was not expensive and the room and grounds very clean. The staff were very courteous and friendly and they always had a smile. The food in the restaurant was good and they had both Western and Kumah foods.

Review 85:Be cautious : my wife was robbed of her necklace in a central street by bypassing scooter Some rooms are dark

Review 86:Very good hotel to relaxe Well located Very good restaurant, modern and asian food

Review 87:Mattress was too hard.

Review 88:The location, staff and ambience of this boutique hotel was perfect. We had a lovely time and will return on our next visit to Phemn Penh.

Review 89:Nothing. Saying anything would be nitpicking.

Review 90:Friendly staff and great location location. Excellent breakfast in the morning and good gym. Food was also nice and hotel pool was excellent.

Review 91:Room temperature fridge. No bidet or bidet hose. Room not ready upon arrival, and I wasn't early. No room service after 11pm. Badly designed bathroom.

Review 92:Nice pool area. Comfy beds.

Review 93:I really enjoyed my stay at Plantation and would highly recommend it to others. I particularly appreciated the following: friendly customer service, the colonial and contemporary architecture, the gorgeous tropical gardens, a very comfortable room, beautiful swimming pool and the most delicious buffet breakfast (which included house made yogurt and jam).

Review 94:i loved the fact that you are located in the city center but it feels like you are in an oasis. Nice antique boutique hotel with swimming pool and great breakfast. Staff is also really nice and helpful

Review 95:Never quite got hot water in the shower - but as it was so hot this was, frankly, a relief.

Review 96:Walking in through the main entrance - suddenly all was calm and serene (with a large water-feature leading to reception). Staff very helpful and attentive. Pool is great and taking breakfast at the pool each morning was just a perfect start to the day. Rooms a good size.

Review 97:Very comfortable and the staff was lovely. Always smiling and greeting us and asking us if we needed anything. The location is perfect. The food is nice. The pool area always peaceful.

Review 98:For my particular room: Bathroom: Walls were in need of repaint, discolored and scuffed in many areas. Beds: I've slept on the standard Cambodian bed in another hotel, and it was great, but the bed in my room here was very uncomfortable.

Review 99:Beautiful grounds and landscape. Hotel rooms were very clean. Near a great restaurant, Romdeng.

Review 100:Breakfast should've started early at 6.00am, probably there are tourists to catch up the morning flight. Beside that, so far so good.

Review 101:Nice good comfort room I love it!! Lots of trees, there are pools, restaurant, so comfort to stay in Phnom Penh. Near from the Royal Palace, Mekong river.

Review 102:Halls inside a bit like a maze. Sometimes I couldn't find my room. More directions needed inside.

Review 103:Good location. Close to museum, palace, restaurants. Amenities excellent.

Review 104:The room is okay but the bathroom area doesn't have a wall, which didn't bother us too much. BUT the real problem is the bathroom area, it felt like stepping into a hostel bathroom. It looked like they just couldn't be bothered with it. The shower was awful, no tiles, walls painted in different colours, door made everything wet. The toilet was a cubicle which felt like a public toilet. That ruined the experience for us as it's advertised as the best deal but with no indication of what to expect.

Review 105:We loved the pool area. Staff always polite and helpful. Breakfast was not great but good enough.

Review 106:It would have been helpful to have a hand rail to assist in and out of the lovely swimming pool

Review 107:The room was quiet and very well appointed the bed was as comfortable as mine at home

Review 108:Attentive staff, comfort spacious room, great Khmer message , yummy dishes with affordable price in their restaurant & great buffet breakfast at pool side. Oasis in tranquility, greenery garden with two swimming pools.l

Review 109:Attentive staff, comfort spacious room, great Khmer message , yummy dishes with affordable price in their restaurant & great buffet breakfast at pool side. Oasis in tranquility, greenery garden with two swimming pools.

Review 110:Great location. A stunning hotel beautifully designed with amazing pools and relaxation areas. I was so impressed with my room and the staff are lovely!

Review 111:The dirt in the street (has nothing to do with the hotel lessens the attraction of town as a place to visit)

Review 112:the 2 pools certainly are the highlight. The rooms are functonal but tastefull with all amenities needed. Lovely public areas, e.g. inner-court. Very good value for money

Review 113:Rooms need cleaning better, but they did mop the floor when asked, breakfast was very basic and not much choice, some reception staff not helpful with tours (just ask the doormen and tuk tuk drivers), the rooms need a paint and some maintainance

Review 114:Setting, pool area, location, help with tuk tuk on door, mains in restaurant were lovely, staff were amazing, room view (pool) was lovely, food service was good, lunch is good in bar area, the reception and pool areas are beautiful, cocktails are good, reception welcome was lovely (complimentary drink), some reception staff were very knowledgeable, door staff were exellent

Review 115:Bathrooms only just ok, broken airconditioning & room change late in the evening without even a room discount or little treat to compensate, hard to get good sunbeds in a good spot around the pool.

Review 116:Helpful staff, lovely pool, nice little restaurant, double deluxe rooms overlooking the pool worth the extra cost, fantastic inroom information & tour options, linking to responsible dining options so your money goes to helping the Cambodians

Review 117:I was incredibly impressed with everything at this hotel- location, service, amenities, everything was top notch quality and exceeded my expectations. I sampled a lot of food from the poolside restaurant, which serves local takes on classic Western food like beef carpaccio with Kampot pepper, or grilled sea bass with Tom Yum sauce. I only wish I had stayed longer than 1 night!

Review 118:- nothing really, but if you have kids the pool may be a little dangerous for them.

Review 119:- great facilities - excellent breakfast - perfect location - clean, organized, comfortable rooms - good staff with good english - swimming pool seems from a hollywood movie. - good drinks and 2 good restaurants inside the Hotel.

Review 120:Service at swimming pool bar/restaurant is very slow. We ordered pizza in our room and put the plates with left over food outside our room when we were done. The next morning the plates were still there and only taken away in the afternoon. In an open space hotel like this, that is inviting rats into your hotel. My friend found a cockrach in her bed. That is not what you expect from a beautiful hotel like the plantation.

Review 121:The hotel is beautifully designed. The pool area is stunning. Food is really good. Rooms are comfortable.

Review 122:Compared to the rest of Cambodia the "add-on services" are a little pricey.

Review 123:Location in Phnom Penh could not be better if you are there for sight-seeing (literally the main sights around the corner). Pool and dining facilities are perfect. Staff extremely helpful.

Review 124:We had a twin room and the shower was a bit badly designed. Worked perfectly well but flooded the bathroom every time we used it.

Review 125:tTe hotel is beautiful, especially the pool. our room was so comfortable. The staff are so friendly and helpful 100% of the time.

Review 126:Not a lot of privacy, as you can walk in the room and see someone having a shower as it's an open planned bathroom. Breakfast was hit and miss and average at best.

Review 127:Coming back to the resort at the end of a hot day. The facilities were good inside and outside the room - this included the pool, bar and spa (try a Khmer massage). Room was spacious and comfortable. Shower had good water pressure. Toilet, sink and shower kept separate. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The main restaurant's food we had for dinner was very nice. Please note happy hour is at the bar upstairs.

Review 128:I am in my 70s and need my bed well off the ground in order to stand up. The tiled areas at the sides of the bed meant that I had to crawl down to the foot of the bed to get up. This was not easy for an old man.

Review 129:The pool, massages and food (although I got several bouts of food poisoning. I am a retired food microbiologist and realise how hard it is to prevent this without potable water).

Review 130:Towels were a little thin compared to those in comparable hotels.

Review 131:Upgrade on arrival to room with direct access to pool was a bonus but everything was great. Food at dinner and breakfast was excellent; only 5 minutes walk to Palace and Museum. The best boutique hotel we've stayed at.

Review 132:Lighting in rooms are too dim. Wi-fi signal in block 4 a little problematic.

Review 133:Nothing was too much for the staff. They were very receptive at all times. They took care of my vegetarian requests each day for breakfast.

Review 134:nothing Perhaps good to know ahead that you should not expect rooms with much of a "view", because the complex is completely walled and low level, tucked in between other buildings, so only "garden" views. But still they manage to create a "resort" feel.

Review 135:Very polite, accommodating and professional staff. Clear communication is being logged in your file, so all staff on duty knows what has been agreed/discussed prior to arrival. Bar was closed, but still prepared to make a Gin Tonic. Once I was late for breakfast buffet, but they still made a *fresh* breakfast. Not just coffee from a can, but good cappuccino at breakfast. Always space along the pool, lovely to start the morning reading at the poolside in the shade of the palm trees and having your breakfast in your swim shorts (and the you realise your are in the centre of town, not at a beach resort!). Very quiet and tastefully decorated rooms. Helpful without ever being pushy or without expecting a tip.
