Reviews for ante porta DAS STADTHOTEL

Review 1:Very friendly staff, very helpful. (We had a minor injury in the middle of the night, they helped quickly.) Nice, comfortable, clean room. Good breakfast with eggs and bacon, cereals, yoghurt, meats and cheese, fruit. A short walk only to the major sightseeing attractions.

Review 2:Duplex room was very nice only not many cupboards for 4 adults and bathroom only 1 sink. Very good breakfast with a lot of choice. We reserved a parking lot but when we arrived there was no space available as parking is very small. Needed to park car in the street but only 4 hours allowed. On Sunday parking is free.

Review 3:For some reason neither I nor my partner could get comfy in the bed. We also didn't sleep well quite independently of each other.

Review 4:The location was excellent, the showers were gorgeously warm, the rooms were clean and comfy, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We particularly enjoyed the modern art used in decoration.

Review 5:You get everything you need from the location to the comfort ,warmth and the delicious breakfast but the best is how pleasent is the personnel kind and attentive . Thank you

Review 6:Great place, close to the oldtown, really quiet and clean, the staff is hospitable and helpful. I'd say - for all purposes - business and leisure.

Review 7:The road it's located on is rather rundown but safe. The Stadt need to spend more money on the infrastructure of Trier outside the Porta Negra..

Review 8:A gem of a hotel. Clean, sophisticated, secure parking, large rooms and excellent breakfast. Only 5 min walk to Pota Negra. Would stay again.

Review 9:The location was close both to station and porta, lovely breakfast buffet, great value at 8 Euro, friendly staff, my suitcase was in my room when I returned from sight seeing, free bottle of water.

Review 10:Street a little dark and sketchy at a night.

Review 11:Close to Porta Nigra. Very nice breakfast and other accommodations. Parking tricky to find, but all worked out.

Review 12:No problems here!

Review 13:Such a fresh, lively decor. Clean, quiet room that was fun to find--involving stairs, lift, outdoor hallway, etc. Great staff! Walking distance to Porta Nigra.

Review 14:Modern, very clean, comfortable, quiet. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Gentleman at reception gave us an excellent dinner recommendation. The €8 breakfast was worthwhile. Wifi worked great. Located an easy 15 minute walk from train station and 10 minutes to tourist sights. Good value.

Review 15:Lack of air conditioning meant we needed the window open overnight - in a room facing the road this had a lot of traffic noise from early morning.

Review 16:Very comfortable, bright and stylish modern decor and furniture. Well located for Trier sights.

Review 17:Adding a small fridge into the room would be a great asset.

Review 18:Perfect location, a 5 minute walk to visit the old town and a 12 minute walk to the Trier railway station. Modern, comfortable, new and very clean, they also offer convenient parking on-site for a fee

Review 19:Not a major issue but air conditioning would have been nice - the fan provided was very noisy. Had some problems with the Wifi but the staff did sort this out.

Review 20:Absolutely lovely friendly and helpful staff on reception. Very large room on two levels. Very nicely appointed bathroom with huge shower. Good breakfast with very friendly waiting staff.

Review 21:The wifi was horrible. Each device required a separate code and a signature for approval. Then you couldn't stay connected so you had to keep going to the front desk for a new password. It's a crazy system that doesn't work especially if you're from a foreign country and rely on wifi for information.

Review 22:Location, cleanliness and the staff were excellent.

Review 23:The overnight parking charge of 8 euro per bike seemed slightly expensive as there was no garage, only a large car park.

Review 24:Central location,close to motorway

Review 25:Children loved having their own loft for sleeping and the green carpet made the room bright. Only a 10 minute walk to the Porta Nigra made it convenient. Spacious Quad with an eating area made it the largest room we stayed in on our trip to Germany.

Review 26:Sheets on bed need better quality (has that plastic feeling). Airconditioning is a heavy must for those few hot German days. WiFi resets every 5 minutes, which makes it hard to do anything useful.

Review 27:Location and Breakfast.

Review 28:No lift beyond second floor.

Review 29:Our room was on two floors with a spiral staircase really good for our family. Breakfast buffet had a great selection of food. It is clean and contemporary. Good staff.

Review 30:This Hotel is superb. It is immaculately clean, bright and the staff areamazingly helpful - thank you to the lovely lady on reception who helpedbook our coach to airport online for us. Every part of this hotel isimmaculately spotless and delightful - wunderbar.Breakfast wonderful value for money - honestly I would highly recommend staying here.

Review 31:The internet did not work despite following all instructions. This was the only hotel where we had any problems with the internet.

Review 32:Check in was easy. Parking was wonderful - controlled lot behind the building. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The family suite was actually 3 rooms - 2 bedrooms and a decent size kitchen with small table, refrigerator and stove top. Location was just 2 blocks from the Porta Nigra so perfect! Breakfast offered a little of something for everyone and kept the two teenage boys happy. If you will be traveling during the summer, be aware that the family suite had no air conditioning and was directly under the roof. Great views but .uncomfortably hot during our last night.

Review 33:Room was hot, no AC, but they do provide a fan. The mattress was nice for me, but my husband said he got back pain.

Review 34:Very large room, modern looking, very clean, friendly staff, nice shower pressure, superb location about 7 min walk straight to Porta Negra, good breakfast, good WiFi and easy parking at its own parking lot (8 euros), and the gummy bears at the front desk were especially a treat for my 3 yr old daughter, who couldn't have it enough!

Review 35:The hotel was beautifully appointed. The breakfast was outstanding. The staff was warm and courteous. I asked if they had other hotels elsewhere, but this was the only one. Too bad! Loved it.

Review 36:It's outside the pedestrian zone. Good if you come by car. But not the most charming part of town

Review 37:The staff was so helpful. Wifi was great. Super clean and modern. Easy location and onsite parking. Short walk to porta nigra and pedestrian zone. Perfect for what I needed. Highly recommend.

Review 38:Restricted car parking.

Review 39:Design of hotel is clean and modern with relaxed feel, car parking facility although limited spaces. Good location to city which has all the amenities for the tourist.

Review 40:The weather was hot and there is no air conditioning although there was a fan in the room, but we felt it was inadequate. Opening the window was not an option as we overlooked the main street. The shower arrangement was not good and resulted in the floor of the bathroom becoming very wet.

Review 41:The hotel is in a good location being only 10 mins walk from the city centre. It is good value for money

Review 42:We have trouble walking, and it was farther than we expected from the Porta Nigra and restaurants.

Review 43:Clean and comfortable, with an excellent breakfast. Convenient parking.

Review 44:We really enjoyed our stay at Ante Porta Das Stadthotel which is located about ten minutes walk away from a number of Trier's main sights. The room was lovely - big, bright and airy, and the staff extremely helpful. We would happily recommend the hotel to anyone thinking of a trip to Trier and would love to go back ourselves.

Review 45:It wasn't too far from the station but the area around the hotel wasn't particularly attractive.

Review 46:The staff were wonderful. The shower was great. After some pretty small showers it was great to have some room.

Review 47:I would have liked to have AC, although the staff did get us a fan.

Review 48:The room was very large and very clean. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was very diverse and good.

Review 49:I don't have a single complaint!

Review 50:Location, breakfast, comfortable room and nice bathroom, free internet, restaraunts close by, ATM close by, and laundry close by. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 51:An extremely well-run, clean, modern hotel, with friendly and attentive staff who speak good English. The breakfast is exceptional and very good value.

Review 52:Great location, on site parking. A short walk to Porta Nigra. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. The room was comfortable and modern, good cooked eggs for breakfast along with the buffet.

Review 53:Street was a little noisy. Closing the window was enough.

Review 54:Location just up from the Porta Nigra was terrific. The staff was super helpful, even when I had an odd request (needing a foil for my electric razor that got bent in transit). Breakfast was copious and varied. Really love it!

Review 55:Wi-fi access could be simpler. You need a code for each device you have in use.

Review 56:The room is very big for today's standards with nice decorations. The bed is king size with quality sheets and pillows. The bathroom was very comfortable: big space, big shower, plenty of room on the counter.

Review 57:Carpeted floor in room. Room faced the street and was quite noisy, although we didn't request a back-facing room, so our fault.

Review 58:Large comfortable room and bath, private parking, quirky (and fun) color scheme; helpful staff, very good breakfast, rooms clean and well lit. Good restaurants within walking distance.

Review 59:Very friendly, helpful bilingual staff at front desk. Room was very spacious, attractive, comfortable. Easy parking available on site. Short walk to historical center.

Review 60:The worst sleeping arrangements ever! It felt like we were sleeping in the middle of a busy roadway. Every sound was carried through the room. So unable to get a good night's sleep.

Review 61:The hotel was bright and colorful and the room was very comfortable during the day.

Review 62:Lack of coffee/tea making facilities in my room

Review 63:Cute hotel. I had a single room, small but not claustrophobic. Lots of bathroom counter space. Lighting in bathroom pretty good. Bed and pillow comfortable. Very friendly staff. Breakfast more than enough, good cappuccino, spacious dining area. Less than ten minute easy walk from train station.

Review 64:The wifi connection was poor. The hotel has routers for each floor, but connections lasted a short time if at all. My husband found the bed uncomfortable. We both dislike the practice of calling two twins beds a double. Finally, the staff refused to make specific restaurant recommendations. Knowing a restaurant that suited our tastes (for instance, good desserts) would have made our stay better.

Review 65:I liked being at the center of the old town. Everything was within walking distance. I also found the staff courteous.

Review 66:Parking can be an issue if the parking lot is full (make a reservation!). The design was a bit too green, at least that's what 50% of this couple thought.

Review 67:Location was ok, about 10 min. walk to center (Porta Nigra). Friendly personnel, excellent beds, spacious room. Nice green colors.

Review 68:Very comfortable and quiet. Good size rooms and shower; excellent breakfast; friendly staff; good location - easy walking distance of centre and all the attractions.

Review 69:Price for parking not well thought through! You arrive late, leave the next morning and have to pay a full day! Sorry, but that is just not acceptable!

Review 70:Breakfast was good!

Review 71:Parking was tight, but convenient and sufficient.

Review 72:Staff was incredibly accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable.Breakfast buffet was delicious!

Review 73:Maby a little thing to remark that there is no small safe in the room. But this has not to be a problem.

Review 74:Very nice stay at this Hotel. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is great. A big plus for the lady who does all the work in the morning. Rooms are very tidy and are cleaned every day. Just great. Parking behind the hotel is good. Go there yourselve and enjoy.

Review 75:The TV did not have any English speaking channels apart from BBC & Sky news. The WiFi in room was very weak and kept cutting off half way through important website visits like banks etc. it keep toggling between 2 replica wifi names of hotel which was not needed to exist. When mentioned to reception staff, they took on board and hopefully will resolve this small hickup.

Review 76:I liked the rooms sizes and cleanliness. The staff were very accomodating. The rooms were located centrally to hotel. Bathroom and water preasure was excellent. Hotel location to town is excellent.

Review 77:My only criticism is that the wi-fi connections was slow!

Review 78:Really lovely, well equipped room; excellent breakfast; good location.Very helpful staff. The room is accessed from a balcony but was beautifully warm. I managed to leave my plug and i pad charger and on returning to the UK contacted the hotel who are sending it to me free of postage charge. What service.

Review 79:We have stayed in this hotel on the 24th January for just 1 night and we were really happy with service. Room was very clean and good size. There was little surprise for little one so she was very happy. Will definitely come back to ante porta

Review 80:Other places I researched had included breakfast. Not a deal breaker for us as we don't always eat breakfast anyway.

Review 81:Friendly staff. Very clean and reasonably priced

Review 82:Parking is not free. Limited space to work with two laptops in the room.

Review 83:-the room was clean and practical -modern interior and bright colors -great shower -great breakfast with sufficient options for a typical German breakfast

Review 84:Lift to 2 level and then 2 flights of stairs. Bathroom very small for family of 4. Stringy green carpet looks a bit old/worn. Kitchen has no utensils. Only 1 TV ,

Review 85:Bedrooms good size, doors for privacy. WiFi good. Staff great. Fridge. Although a few faults it was a nice stay and was comfortable.

Review 86:When we ask for a double room, we dont mean a twin with the two beds put together... That means someone will end up sleeping in a gap... Not confortable...

Review 87:Lime green shag carpet in the room.

Review 88:Walk to the train station, Porta Nigra and shopping, restaurants. Extraordinarily friendly staff. Morning staff at breakfast went out of their way to provide fast service with a smile and extraordinary English.

Review 89:The worst thing is the Wifi, which didn't work at all on the secondfloor (our room is about in the middle of the second floor), and theevening staff didn't know how to fix it at all. We had to sit in thelobby in the evening to use the Wifi. I am not sure if it ever gotfixed, since we only stayed one evening. There is a strange smell in the room, possibly from the carpet or the cleaning solution (other reviewers had mentioned this as well). The shower glass is only half, so water can spray out and drench outside the shower. To be fair, such shower seems to be a common design in this part of Europe.

Review 90:Not exactly in the center, but only about 5-6 minutes from the Porta, and with convenient free parking.Hotel and room are modern and look clean, which is nice. However, there is a strange smell in the room, possibly from the carpet or the cleaning solution (other reviewers had mentioned this as well). Breakfast was pretty good, with good varieties.

Review 91:Excellent staff. Spotlessly clean rooms. Comfortable quiet rooms. Generous and varied breakfast. Just a few minutes walk from the Porta Nigra. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 92:My twin room was large, bright and clean. The bathroom was spacious. The continental breakfast was excellent and not expansive. It is a 3* hotel of german quality in the best sense of the word.

Review 93:A little scary walking back to hotel at night, but it seemed to be a well-traveled area.

Review 94:Spacious room and bathroom. Friendly, helpful staff. Only a 10 minute walk shopping and restaurant district. Would stay at this hotel again!

Review 95:No character and just functional, which isn't a problem if you're out all day. My partner didn't like the bed but I found it fine.

Review 96:Great location, good price and good value with car parking facilities at the back of the hotel. Good wi-fi access. Decent breakfast as well so no need to go outside looking for something to set you up for the day.

Review 97:There was a strange odour in our room but a room spray dealt with it.

Review 98:The staff were very helpful and located us on the ground floor due to mobility issues. Breakfast was good value for 8Euros

Review 99:We stayed for a few nights last year and were so comfortable we came back for another visit. Excellent value, all we needed for a relaxed, fuss free stay in a lovely and interesting city.

Review 100:nothing really, met expectations, street is so so but upgrading is going on

Review 101:Easy access and on iste parking, nice clean hotel, accomodating staff, good breakfast, Five minute walk to Porte Nigra Roman Gate.Ten minutes ot favorite Trier restaurant

Review 102:We had a family suite -kids had their own room above ours, accessed via a spiral staircase. They said this was really cool! Very clean, comfortable and great use of space. Fabulous shower too. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Enjoyed breakfast - good continental selection and tasty. Walking distance to both train station and centre.

Review 103:Nothing. It was a very pleasurable stay.

Review 104:The bed is wonderfully comfortable. The best sleep we had during our holiday. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is large and modern. The addition of a small fan made the room that much more comfortable during warm weather. Parking is available and convenient. The hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. We wished they had availability so that we could have stayed an extra night. Overall a fantastic hotel.

Review 105:No AC ! Ground floor rooms a bit noisy, both from corridor and from outside, as people walk past your window to the car parking. Especially irritating in the morning...

Review 106:Renovated and new. Modern, spacious rooms. Very comfortable bed. Good location, relatively close to historic center. On premise car parking. Helpful staff and good breakfast. Free WiFi

Review 107:The showers were very quirky--the ultramodern design of a single glass panel and no curtain or shower door meant that the floor of the bathroom became puddled with water after the shower was used.

Review 108:Hotel was very modern, clean, and quiet with comfortable beds and a great breakfast buffet. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is a short walk from the main sights of Trier. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Review 109:the most annoying feature is that there is no minibar or coffee/tea facilities in the room - not even a water boiler. so you are forced to buy your own drinks which is fine but no fridge to store it in - same for snacks. I personally don't care if they don't stock drinks/snacks in the room but at least a fridge and a water boiler is basic. At the price you pay for the room I think this should be standard. In the morning it was a terrible hassle to just get a cup of coffee - no one wants to start their day like that. limited tv channels in English was a pain but typical for Germany in general.

Review 110:the hotel was in a very good location - about 5-10mins walk to the city centre. the hotel is also surrounded by quite some stores which is handy (see negative comment). the room size was decent - it was clean with plenty of plugs which i always appreciate. the wifi is alright, the downside is that you need a unique password for every machine you use. overall its a decent hotel if you plan to spend lots of time outside of the room. there is barely any English channels on the TV and they don't provide any alternatives (like a dvd player and some movies/shows).

Review 111:wifi was playing up and no guest could connect.

Review 112:For what is clearly a 70's style hotel it has been tastefully renovated & is bright and clean in all the public areas. Lift only goes to the 2nd floor but the renovation makes taking your bags up to the 3rd floor an easy task. Staff are very helpful. Easy access for parking.

Review 113:The only thing I missed was the availability of a coffee machine ( I know they are not as good as the real thing ) rather than having to always go out.

Review 114:Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Review 115:Not so close to the Porta Nigra as I would like, but it's a short walk.

Review 116:Ample room and bathroom (for german economy class standards), very clean, nice staff, honest breakfast. Good overall. I stayed just for one night but it left a good impression.

Review 117:Just a little further from the train station than I usually stay, so needed to take a taxi. But only cost 5 Euro.

Review 118:The staff were very helpful in getting us information we needed to get around. They were very friendly and the facilities and breakfast were great.

Review 119:Easy to connect to WiFi, but no coverage at all in our room. Could only connect in the reception area.

Review 120:The hotel is centrally located with walking distance to the city center. Good parking, easy to access (but you pay for it). Very nice, large modern rooms. Helpful staff and very good breakfast.

Review 121:The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was superb. We had a family room with a second room on a second floor connected by a spiral staircase. The kids thought this was spectacular. They loved having their own attic room.(they wanted to know if we could get one at home!). The best hotel we have ever stayed in, and we travelled the globe. Absolutely phenomenal!

Review 122:Modern, clean and within easy walking distance of trier centre (whichis beautiful). Very friendly staff and best family room we came acrosswhilst travelling through Europe- 2 separate rooms with 4 proper sizedbeds but open plan so you can hear the kids of they are young butprivate enough if they are older - excellent bathroom- top breakfastfor 8 euros

Review 123:There was not enough parking. One night there was one spot left, and my husband and I had to spend 20 minutes to try to fit our standard-size car into the space. A small matter, but the hotel is not quite "ante porta."

Review 124:The staff were absolutely wonderful; they could not have been more helpful and gracious. What an asset they are! Our room room was very comfortable and larger than we expected. We were very grateful that the room was quiet. The breakfast buffet was lovely, and there were many choices. As with the other staff, the breakfast staff were cheerful and helpful, We were delighted with the hotel and recommend it to everyone.

Review 125:During warm summer evening room was quite warm to sleep.

Review 126:Located just outside the center it was still a few minutes walk away. Great room with terrace facing courtyard (no traffic noise).

Review 127:Weak wifi reception. Hated the lime green shag carpeting as it retains a moldy smell. No air conditioning, so it was a bit stuffy even with the windows open and fan on.

Review 128:Fairly close to the station and old town. Modern bathroom.
