Reviews for Finca Eslava
Review 1:The interior of the hotel is lovely and full of character and charm. The room we had was very spacious and well finished. We ate both nights in the hotel restaurant, the food and wine being of a good standard and reasonably priced.
Review 2:Not a very nice location. We expected yhe hotel to be a little more in the center of the town but it is at the edge of the town situated on an industrial area and the view from our room was not so nice. The hotel is so nice that it really should deserve a much better location.
Review 3:A really nice hotel. Very clean and comfortable room. Nice interior and bathroom.
Review 4:It was near a main road and quite frankly did not come up to expectations. The Buffet breakfast was very poor and was all dried up.
Review 5:The buildings were lovely
Review 6:Not situated in the best area but near to antiquera and well enclosed
Review 7:Great for visiting antiquera. Hotel very comfortable and quiet but maybe noisy in school holidays. Great breakfast, food and decor.
Review 8:We had some difficulty finding the hotel, which was off the ring road around Antequera, but worth the wrong turns in the end.
Review 9:A venerable old farmhouse conversion, this hotel has a magnificent courtyard -- though due to cold and rainy weather we didn't get to sit outside. The dining room had a nineteenth century feel and was rather formal, and the bar looked magnificent.
Review 10:Unfortunately we picked the one weekend a year where the car park was full of tractors & a large area given over to a farming show making parking a problem, but it added interest.
Review 11:Normally the hotel would be very peaceful, with plenty of parking. Great 50m pool & gym for guests. We would definitely use this hotel again.
Review 12:Non-existent Wi-Fi in the room.
Review 13:Lovely building, excellent food, good ambience in both bar and restaurant. Nice to have a balcony, although most rooms don't seem to have one.
Review 14:We return here at least once a year as we enjoy this hotel. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and it is good value for the money . The inner courtyard is beautiful.
Review 15:bathroom ceiling in need of care, poor lighting, weak wifi signal..needed to sit in certain spots, deck was nice except for all the pigeons and droppings. Very thin walls, could hear people moving, elevator going.
Review 16:nice spa and indoor pool and large exercise facilities for free.
Review 17:It's set on the outskirts of the village in a semi industrial spot and although the grounds seem nice enough, the carpark is HUGE, so it felt to me as though we just looked onto a car park. You will probably need a car if you don't want to eat in the restaurant, but they do serve lighter / snack meals in the bar/cafeteria. I loved the building but noise did carry around the stairwells (particularly loud children!)
Review 18:The building is an interesting old finch and the rooms are a good size (ours even had a balcony). There is a full half sized Olympic swimming pool, large jet-pool and plenty of other fitness / relaxation facilities I didn't have time to use in our short stop over. It's located centrally to the region, although just outside the village of Antiquera itself. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant.
Review 19:For a 4 star Hotel there is a lot lacking. No food available when we arrived at 6.30pm. Told we had to wait to 8pm. Restaurant freezing cold. No information in room (e.g no tel nos). Breakfast "Hot Buffet" cold. First 2 mornings had to wear coats to breakfast. Only 2 coathangers available in room. Best to eat out.
Review 20:Hotel looks nice from outside. Pool area. The area is charming.
Review 21:The arched courtyard was attractive, the rooms were good size, it was quiet, there were nice gardens, the restaurant staff were friendly, and behind the hotel is a large swimming pool and gym complex within the grounds
Review 22:The position is not ideal, but that is not the fault of the hotel !! the industrial area has obviously grown out and round it. It would have been nice to have a chair in our room.
Review 23:We liked everything about the hotel; the restaurant food was first class.
Review 24:Wifi - poor connectivity & picked up a virus. Outdoor pool - nowhere to sit around it and pool had leaves in it
Review 25:Food Location Staff Rooms Leisure facilities - excellent gym & indoor pool complex
Review 26:The location was fine for us as we had a car and using the hotel as a base to tour. It is just off the ring road so handy for all routes and plenty of parking. However the location is not good for pedestrians. It's on a long straight road which it shares with trading warehouses, and on the wrong side of the ring road, railway and new HST line. It is in pretty gardens and it's not an overly built up area. Just nowhere to walk to.
Review 27:Fabulous big room and bathroom with every convenience including a radio in the bathroom. Fabulous food especially the breakfast buffet - lots of local specialities. The adjoining spa is free for guests - huge pool, giant jacuzzi pool with lots of powerful jets. The staff were friendly and despite our lack of Spanish and their lack of English, they (especially Jose) went the extra mile to make us welcome
Review 28:the wellness portion is in a public bath / fitness center where hotel guests are granted free access.
Review 29:spacious room, the finca has a slightly "old-fashioned" restaurant, quite authentic.
Review 30:Nothing
Review 31:I liked that I could park the car at the Hotel. The building is a former Equistrian Centre. Decor and facilities good. Separate lounges for quiet relaxation.
Review 32:Booking.com promised us a private balcony but there was none. We then changed to a room with a "Juliet" balcony. Simple, pleasant rooms, but not that quiet.
Review 33:Great pool and fantastic spa facilities, good location for us. Attractive building, helpful staff.
Review 34:As the weather was so good, instead of the Dining Room being open for dinner, all dinner guests ate on a large, pleasant, semi open air terrace. There was a huge TV on throughout dinner on the two evenings we ate there. This was an unnecessary intrusion into what should have been a special reunion of four old friends and in fact caused us to publicly row with each other, something which has never happened before in more than 50 years. I noticed three other tables where there was similar distress being caused. Of course, only half of the guests were facing the TV ! I was told later that they only use it for important sports events but there was no sport on the first evening of our stay. Good food, good location but we will never eat there again if the TV is playing. On both our evenings, the beautiful plants around the Terrace had been watered prior to the Restaurant opening at 8pm. The excess water ran into the centre of the room and flooded beneath 3 tables. This could easily have been cleared prior to guests arriving but most people sat with their feet in water all evening ! Only one group complained and they all had to stand while the water was scraped away. Quite a fiasco for the waiter to crouch down with the tablecloth draped over his back, scraper in hand while trying not to get his trousers wet ! Definitely more entertaining than the unwelcoming TV.
Review 35:We liked the close proximity to the town of Antequera and easy access to the main routes for visiting other attractions in the area. Once through the Hotel gates, we felt that we were in a truly Andalucian setting and, had we wanted them, all the sport facilities looked superb and were well away from the main part of the Hotel so no disruption caused. All the staff were helpful and pleasant and some remembered small things we had requested from one day to the next.
Review 36:Would have been nice to have the inner court fountain working
Review 37:Different from the normal hotel. Architecturally interesting. In the inner court. Very quiet considering that it's close to the main road. Added bonus of a swimming pool both inside and out.
Review 38:We had a room with the only window opening onto the courtyard (but it was presumably cheaper for this reason )
Review 39:The food was very good particularly the breakfast. Room clean and comfortable Staff very helpful
Review 40:Staff on duty at breakfast. No tea making in room. Food in restaurant not very good. Have to buy and Wear hat in pool.
Review 41:Lovely hotel and room
Review 42:could do with a larger evening menu
Review 43:staff were really friendly, lovely warm friendly place , room very nice , the whole ambiance of this hotel is perfect
Review 44:no where to sit in the sun, moved out of lounge because they had to prepare it for an event, noise in room from work going on
Review 45:food and drink and looks
Review 46:All perfect
Review 47:good value , excellent room and well run with helpful staff.
Review 48:Weak wifi
Review 49:Rooms were spacious. The hotel had an individual feel. The food was tasty and reasonably priced.
Review 50:My only compliment was that we booked a no smoking room but the room we got was for smoking.
Review 51:Breakfast a little bit poor.
Review 52:The place is beautiful!
Review 53:Night concierge gave us lots of helpful tips about things to do in the locality.
Review 54:Not handy to walk into the town.
Review 55:Good ambience and Spanish charm.
Review 56:very nice finca style and nice outdoor area for eating dinner and drinkstypical spanish finca style
Review 57:Our room (203): was very dark
Review 58:This place has fantastic facilities, but unfortunately we didn't have time to use them. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 59:Excellent dinner, very reasonably priced in the hotel restsramt
Review 60:Room could do with a couple of chairs.
Review 61:Excellent spacious room.
Review 62:None
Review 63:The ambience n the indoor pool w gym
Review 64:No wifi at all.
Review 65:Restaurant was really very good and the spa was excellent.
Review 66:With the moderately priced accommodation you get access to the pool and fitness centre within the complex. Ideal place to stay if you have a car.
Review 67:Can't walk into town.
Review 68:Comfortable warm room in bad weather, nice big room and comfortable beds.
Review 69:I did not have a car so it was difficult to walk into Antequera due to the railway line.
Review 70:restaurant; food was excellent, very friendly service
Review 71:Pleasant staff. Good breakfast and food in restaurant good value
Review 72:No covered walkway to spa
Review 73:General ambience of hotel, great food, spa was excellent
Review 74:good breakfast which was also good value; very beautiful hotel with lovely sunset views
Review 75:Having to leave early the following morning. Everything else was fine.
Review 76:Courtesy and helpfulness of the staff.
Review 77:The road noise at night and the food in the restaurant.
Review 78:The ambiance, location and staff
Review 79:Staff, parking and rooms. Good Wifi.
Review 80:Evening meal sub-standard.
Review 81:Breakfast superb! Good location. Good service. Courtyard lovely. Very rustic!
Review 82:location is good if you have a car, but if you want to walk, distance not a problem but away from town along busy road
Review 83:quality business-style hotel
Review 84:Peaceful
Review 85:leisure facilities were fantastic room was comfortable air conditioning great staff very friendly great position for viewing Antequera
Review 86:very odd smell during the night - probably from the sewer
Review 87:Very nice hotel, real spanish style. Big room, excellent food and perfect location to visit the city !
Review 88:We booked the hotel because of the pool, spa and gym, but they were out of order due to a recent fire. Why could we not have been told? We found the hotel dark, our room without sun at any time, no mirror in the room, only in the bathroom, no chair in the room. No chairs or sunbeds in the garden. Not quite what we expected at a 4 star hotel. It was quite difficult for the gps to find the hotel!
Review 89:Good breakfast.
Review 90:dark room, terrible smell of polish and air fresherner used daily- bad for health., very off putting.... Not suitable for walking into Antequera .No information of tourist interest in area! the reason for visit....''go to tourist information ''
Review 91:character, historic building, spacious room, friendly staff, good food, lovely place , beautiful scenery nearby .
Review 92:The hotel was located in a run down commercial area; as the new high speed train station is being built in the vicinity walking or strolling outside of the limited grounds around the premises was impossible.
Review 93:Sport facilities were very good. Reception area and restaurant looked stunning.
Review 94:Too close to road but it doesn't bother us too much. That is why room opposite road is better
Review 95:Free swimming pool, spa, etc. Free parking and fast wifi Room interior is awesome Staff was very friendly and helpful We recommend this hotel and hope to return here in the future
Review 96:The carpets and rugs were surprisingly very dirty throughout the hotel. They needed vacuuming, and could do with shampooing, as they were very grubby. New rugs and carpets would be a big improvement
Review 97:The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms too. Good facilities - pool etc Restaurant was lovely, and the food was very good. Next time will go a la carte!
Review 98:The pool and spa are public! They are in a complex across the parking lot.. Changing into swimming suits is also 'public'!! All men together and all women together.. Spa is inside a large swimming pool, not relaxing at all...
Review 99:Nice rooms, nice hotel
Review 100:The hotel is outside of town, which was OK for us since we had a car. But if you do not have one, it is not easy to get to town center.
Review 101:Very nice place. Big room. Had its own parking. Free use of spa and sauna. One can say the room was a bit outdated in terms of its furnishing, but it was clean and very peaceful. We had a pleasant stay.
Review 102:Breakfastselection poor, cooked food not hot, limited selection cereals,
Review 103:Spanish style buildings, swimming pool +leisure facilitis, room with good balcony, convenient drive into antequera
Review 104:Not value for money. Picture and description are misleading. Too dark (saving energy at the expense of comfort) and the bathrooms are falling apart.
Review 105:Good dining restaurant
Review 106:Insufficient info to successfully use the leisure centre next door.you need swimming hats for instance to use the pools + training sessions for kids limit accessibility. No tea/coffee making kit in room.
Review 107:Easy access from main routes
Review 108:Hotel located quite far from the city center
Review 109:Very nice hotel. Clean and spacious room. VERY nice spa and pool, although located 100 metres from the hotel. Free parking
Review 110:The product quality of the breakfast was a bit on the poor side.
Review 111:This is quite an attractive building with comfortable rooms, located close to the motorway.
Review 112:Difficult to find coming of the Autoroute. Rather dark -- are they saving electricity? Gnats in the dining room Bed covering could be felt through the sheets.
Review 113:The style of the hotel was really interesting -- a traditional farmhouse layout with a central inlaid cobble courtyard and fountain in the centre. The bar was impressive for the wall decor of 100 jamones - hams. A good stop for an early flight from Malaga -- well situated for the drive from Seville. A good meal if not haute cuisine.
Review 114:Reception staff were friendly but untrained and not able to issue us keys for our stay so we needed to be let into and out of the room,
Review 115:Rooms were great. Comfortable and v clean.
Review 116:The description of the hotel fails to mention that its just next to metal works. Also its this very generic type of hotel that one can find anywhere just a bit outside of town.
Review 117:The location was a little odd, slightly out of town which we wanted but in an industrial area. It didn't matter but was just a little strange.
Review 118:The staff were great, the hotel was very clean and comfortable.
Review 119:Nothing really. Overal great experience.
Review 120:Amazing traditional Andalusian building with good restaurant and very very good service. We also took a bike tour and used a swimming pool once.
Review 121:This was our second visit to Finca Eslava but don't intend visiting again. Our first visit was 6 years ago and we loved it then. This visit was disappointing. We found the mould/damp across one entire wall particularly off putting. The staff weren't very friendly .. Apart from the young man at the reception who was most helpful. This hotel has a lovely dining room but its not open during the week and meals have to be taken in the outside area which wasn't ideal. Due to an accident whilst on holiday my wife was in a wheelchair and this hotel was so disabled unfriendly it was unbelievable. We had booked this hotel on half board basis but found the menu very limited. We chose to eat from the a la carte menu instead although the hotel did give us a refund/credit on our original booking to accommodate this. Awkward to get to the pool area especially in a wheelchair.
Review 122:We found the young gentleman at the reception very helpful and friendly. The food in this hotel was very very good. Top marks to their chef.
Review 123:Staff looked a little overworked and harassed and, to begin with, not too friendly !!
Review 124:A beautiful hotel with all the facilities required in a great location, both an interesting town near to other cities and an ideal stopover if travelling through. The food was also very good.
Review 125:nothing
Review 126:Staying here entitles you to make free use of the great SPA nextdoor. Breakfast is extensive and very good. Lunch at the restaurant is very good as well. We highly recommend this hotel!
