Reviews for Hotel Roemischer Kaiser

Review 1:Could do to change toiletries in bathroom. Moo

Review 2:Location of the hotel directly in the centre cosiness atmosphere in the hotel good breakfast good price for the rooms would highly recommend this hotel have stayed there three times very welcoming place.

Review 3:Check out experience could have been better as the staff member was quite grumpy.

Review 4:Check in was a good experience with a very friendly and helpful young staff member. This set the whole tone for our stay.

Review 5:unwelcoming breakfast staff. Had to ask to refill food dishes, only to be greeted with clock watching,to see if it was too late to do this.

Review 6:location was great. breakfast food good.

Review 7:One receptionist was rude and unhelpful, complete contrast to everysingle one of the other staff members who were very good.

Review 8:Central location, great room, staff (in the main, there was oneexception) friendly and helpful, fabulous restaurant.

Review 9:N/A

Review 10:This is our second stay here and we would not stay anywhere else in Trier. This is a welcoming, comfortable and conveniently located hotel, with excellent parking facilities. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the beds are comfortable. The Porta Nigra and the other main sights of Trier are all within walking distance. The restaurant is well worth a visit and there are also other excellent restaurants nearby.

Review 11:Everything was fine with the exception of internet connection what is rather important for me while travelling.

Review 12:The view from my room window over old rooftops of Trier.

Review 13:although seemed fairly new, matress provided poor quality of sleep (tireness)

Review 14:Perfect location for street walk in Porta Nigra pedestrian area. Staff very friendly. Clean, nice restaurant, private parking

Review 15:Unfortunately the wifi is really non-existent there.

Review 16:The food was superb and the breakfasts were unbelievable. Our room was lovely and clean and comfortable. We also must comment on the staff - very friendly, professional and helpful.

Review 17:Total refusal to allow us to check-in before 3pm. Had to leave our bags in lobby while we parked in their carpark 200m down road then return to take them to room myself after 3.

Review 18:Good size, clean room. Restaurant meals excellent. Staff generally helpful except in regard to check-in

Review 19:Hotel Roemischer is an exceptional hotel. The room was beautiful and the breakfast superb. We encountered a problem while vacationing on bikes and the staff went to extreme measures to rectify the situation. Our thanks go out to the staff member who actually used her own car to deliver bikes to us the day after staying in their hotel. She was gracious and we cannot thank her enough. I would highly recommend this hotel for the location, rooms and breakfast. Thanks to all.

Review 20:This is a sad place, it had the potential to be good but is let down by the management, in particular the elderly woman who was on duty late afternoon and evening. Unsmiling and unhelpful with a sour attitude, internet was very poor unless you sat in the staircase, TV reception was poor and the rooms facing the street are very noisy.

Review 21:The room was clean and well appointed

Review 22:Bed was Ok, but mattress was thin, but tolerable. WiFi only allowed one device at a time and I couldn't get the system to forget my phone so I could log in with my computer. Pretty frustrating

Review 23:Super location next to the old Roman gate. Breakfast was above average, hotel was very clean and staff was friendly and spoke good English. Parking was free...unusual in a downtown location.

Review 24:The pillows were too soft and there was no alternative when requested. Did not get a good nights sleep. A selection of harder pillows should be available if requested.

Review 25:The location and staff were superb. Breakfast was very tasty and free parking was great.

Review 26:Top floor (rooftop) room in hot weather was quite warm with no cooling system and limited ventilation due to shape of room.

Review 27:Very clean and a great location, free parking a major bonus! Breakfast was very well catered.

Review 28:The room needed updating. Bathroom tile grout was black and it looked like black mold on bathroom ceiling. Also extremely hot during the night. A fan would go a long way

Review 29:Great location, free parking, great breakfast.

Review 30:Location & architectural style of building. Excellent breakfast...sure other food was great, but we only stayed 1 night & didn't get to experience it.

Review 31:No a/c, no fridge. Very warm at night.

Review 32:Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good, location was convenient to sights on foot and buses for locations further out.

Review 33:Trier is considered the oldest city in Germany, with an abundance of Roman ruins, and one of the most famous of them, the Porta Nigra, stands just a block from the front door of the Roemischer Kaiser. The hotel has a traditional atmosphere, and comfortable rooms, while the breakfast buffet was the best of our trip. Free parking is at a secure lot a block from the hotel.

Review 34:The staff were very amiable and efficient. The hotel is well located for the station and the main sights. It is the sort of hotel where you immediately feel comfortable and at home. The food and service both at breakfast and dinner were excellent. Moreover, the staff are obviously well trained, very courteous and respond in German when you attempt to use their language.

Review 35:The staff at reception was incredibly unfriendly and acted bothered at check-in, check-out, and when we reported that the TV in the room was not working.

Review 36:The location is amazing. You are next door to the old Roman Gate and the old town. The room was large and comfortable.

Review 37:On arrival the receptionist was rude. The hotel seemed run down. The heating in the room was poor and the beds were uncomfortable and creaked. The bathroom was dirty with what seemed to be excrement smeared on the panel below the bathroom window. The breakfast was not of the best quality. When we arrived we read in the room details that the restaurant had an English translation. When we asked to see the English menu we were told it hadn't been written yet so not available, we therefore had a meal elsewhere.

Review 38:Secure car parking and location

Review 39:Spiderwebs in all corners of the room. Room was pretty small. The mattresses thin and not the best quality, too low to the ground, Windows should be better insolated because the hotel is on a busy corner of Trier. No aircondition!

Review 40:Location, super close to the Porta Nigra. Breakfast was delicious and a good varity. Balcony and view from our room was great.

Review 41:The Hotel fronts quite a busy road so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back.

Review 42:This is in the best location for all the attractions of Trier. Do not miss the Cathedral. The hotel is in a historic building with character but it has been converted to high standard. It has a secure surface car park nearby.

Review 43:Being ripped off. Not By the hotel Kaiser I should add. I thought the tax & VAT issues with my booking in Liege were a one off. They were not. The cost of the room booking direct with the Romicher Kaiser is 116 Euros for that date. The cost I was quoted inclusive of taxes as stated was 149 euros. I ended up having to Pay 160 euros. I phoned Tony @ Booking.com who stated that was in order despite print offs stating the taxes were inclusive below the price I thought was paying. His final reply was simply that unless we had pre payment pic or screen dump of the costs I indicated, there was nothing he could do. The Trier - Kaiser part of the trip was somewhat spoiled by this & the open revelation of costs supplied by The Romicher Kaiser made this a spoilt final part of our trip.

Review 44:Hotel location. Olde world style Good Bathroom facilties & view

Review 45:Very weak WIFI. No air conditioning or fans available.

Review 46:Great location close to many of the tourist attractions. Nice exterior and lobby. Very clean but needing some updating in the rooms. The breakfast was good with excellent coffee.

Review 47:Not sure whose problem it was, the Hotel or Booking.com. but they did not have my reservation. Showed them my printout. It would have been interesting to see how Booking would have handled it, fortunately they had a room.

Review 48:Great room, large bathroom, excellent breakfast and attentive staff. Conveniently located for all of the Roman sites in Trier

Review 49:Bad wifi - they have a clunky sign-on system and only give one pass per room (it's 2014, we have lots of devices that need to connect!) The rooms were clean, but the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. It is a little loud since you are right near the street (it was summer time, so we had to open our windows) Cost - dear goodness! For what you get, it is overpriced.

Review 50:Close to the tourist attractions Room comfortably accommodated two adults and two small children

Review 51:Lovely hotel!

Review 52:Very basic....room not comfortable, bedding / pillows terrible. WIFI unreliable...

Review 53:Good location

Review 54:Bed and pillows were not great.

Review 55:Location was good, so was the free parking. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet.

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Everything.

Review 58:Fantastic location. Quick, efficient check in and check out. Large room, great bathroom. Everything clean. Great breakfast.

Review 59:air conditioning in the room would have been useful a little noisy in the morning with the windows open

Review 60:great location and very friendly staff

Review 61:This hotel is across the street from the Porta Negra. Very close to everything. The restaurant was great for dinner and breakfast.

Review 62:Had difficulty with the wifi

Review 63:wifi was poor , slow

Review 64:location

Review 65:Wifi! Apparently, it's not that prevalent in Germany and the hotels need to get some high tech assistance.

Review 66:The space and the breakfast.

Review 67:Location, comfort, allergy friendly kitchen staff

Review 68:Small bathroom with no bathtub.

Review 69:Trier is a nice town and this was a charming hotel.

Review 70:great location of hotel

Review 71:The hotel was satisfactory in every way, but not exceptional except for the location.

Review 72:The bed was a little lumpy.

Review 73:Convenient location

Review 74:An excellent breakfast buffer.

Review 75:Wifi under repairing

Review 76:Good lacation

Review 77:good location to tourist attraction

Review 78:Some road noise. No dedicated parking.

Review 79:Close to town centre. Pleasant room Comfortable bed

Review 80:nada

Review 81:Incredible location, efficient staff, nice, clean hotel.

Review 82:No air conditioning in the summer ==>windows open ==>noisy traffic road==>was hard to sleep !

Review 83:The location is excellent; less than 100 m from Porta Negra and the shopping and restaurant area

Review 84:No air conditioning. Lots of dust under the bed. Bed was very uncomfortable.

Review 85:Little welcoming table in the room was very nice. Staff was nice. Shower was great. Bathroom was clean. Location was great!

Review 86:wifi not stable and only 1 connection at a time We arrived late so were left with a not so good room. We asked and they moved us for the 2nd night to a very nice room

Review 87:Clean Friendly staff In the city Great breakfast

Review 88:Dated rooms, no air conditioning, the refrigerators in 2 rooms did not work/were not plug-in-able.

Review 89:Prime location near the Porta Nigra, the bus stop, and the visitor center. The breakfast was really good. The staff were very helpful and nice.

Review 90:Rooms were quite sober, warm and the bed was not as comfortable as would be expected for that price/for a 4 star hotel; the WiFi signal was fairly weak on the 4th floor.

Review 91:Nice central location (although on a fairly busy street and some 'weekend city noises'); good shower; great breakfast.

Review 92:The pillows weren't very comfortable and the room got very hot overnight.

Review 93:This hotel is not modern, but our room was quaint and had everything we needed. The location of the hotel is perfect for discovering Trier. Breakfast was nice.

Review 94:Excellent hotel with only minor quibbles. Breakfast times were a little early for the weekend (until 10). Wi-fi restriction to one device was odd. Rooms a little spartan given the price charged.

Review 95:Fantastic location. Easy walk to all of the main sights. Clean and tidy rooms if a little austere. Very good breakfast. Excellent hotel restaurant. Well worth trying the evening menu. Parking included and very close to the hotel. Staff on the whole very friendly and helpful.

Review 96:Breakfast was so so no real choice of eggs staff not the most chatty but perhaps as we came towards end of breakfast time. Breakfast time could be longer currently 7 -10.00, 7.00 to 11.00 would be better.

Review 97:Hotel location is superb, rooms more than adequate.

Review 98:rudest front desk staff that you will ever meet. If you dare park at the front door to unload luggage beware of the tirade !!! Aging hotel that needs a makeover. Very basic breakfast.

Review 99:Everything in German. Staff speaks English but there is no english in anything written. Wifi allows connection of a single device only.

Review 100:Very nice building. Great atmosphere.

Review 101:Evening dinner on a busy Saturday was too expensive and service was extremely slow.Much better places to eat nearby. No late bar in the hotel or a lounge to sit in(there were 8 in our party). We went into the sister hotel next door for drinks.

Review 102:Perfect location to explore the historic sites, the shops and of course the Christmas market.Very spacious and comfortable room.Breakfast was plentiful and well presented.Waitresses helpful and congenial.

Review 103:Bud receptionist. When I spoke to her, during the conversation, she started to spork to other guy who did not make a que. Very impolite.

Review 104:Fantastci restaurant and perfect staff!!

Review 105:Extra dinner in hotel's restaurant was too expensive, I had problems with logging on to free hotel's WiFi (experienced internet and network user).

Review 106:Comfortable room with big bed, spacious and well equipped bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, excellent location near bus stop, abundant breakfast, reasonable price for room.

Review 107:Could not get wifi anywhere In the Hotel on any of our devices. Wish we could have had a hospitality tray in the room, so we could have tea first thing

Review 108:Fantastic location. Good breakfast. Excellent bathroom

Review 109:very friendly helpful staff. The bedrooms were clean with very comfortable beds. The food the first evening was so good we decided to eat at the hotel each evening.

Review 110:Rooms facing the (Hausmann?) boulevard can be pretty noisy in the rush hours. Particularly if you want open windows hot summer days (no ac) that is a problem.

Review 111:Very well kept hotel, old building, gently modernized, with excellent location just at the boarderof the old town.

Review 112:No air-conditioning, street voice

Review 113:Nice stylish hotel, excellent location, good breakfast, free parking and wifi. Definitely better than we expected according to booking.com opinions.

Review 114:Reception was not at all forth coming. They gave us little or no information. Internet access was only provided for one device.

Review 115:The location was excellent, breakfast was surprisingly abundant and fresh. The restaurant for dinner was delicious and the waitress was well informed and polite and very helpful. Parking was secure, close and adequate.

Review 116:They didn't tell us that the day after, day of our departure, therewould be a big cross and they were going to close all the city and wewould not be able to leave as programmed!!!! The wifi was not working inour room even if when we made the resarvation we specified that we wouldhave needed it! In addition only one device out of three would have beenabilited but no worry, it didnt't work anyway!

Review 117:The location was convinient and some of the staff at the restaurantwere nice.

Review 118:Nothing...we liked it all!!! The only thing was the WiFi connection wasa little slow, but free and still there.

Review 119:The hotel was wonderful. We had a difficult train ride to Trier, andwere tired when we got there. The staff was friendly and got us to ourroom right away. The location could not have been better. Everything wasclose enough to walk to. The Porta Nigra was just across the street, andthe shopping and the rest of the things we wanted to see in Trier wereall close. We had lots of options for eating, from small bistros tofancy restraints all within a five to fifteen minute walk. Our windowslooked out onto a picturesque street that was very busy, but what weexpected being right in the city. The train station was only about afifteen minute flat easy walk. I would recommend this hotel to anyonegoing to Trier to see the tourist sights

Review 120:No air conditioning. Had to have windows open. Very noisy from traffic and people throughout the night. Bed uncomfortable. Not the standard we had anticipated.

Review 121:Clean. Near to sights. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 122:Water did not drain well in shower pan. Used a real key which isn't convenient if you are not traveling alone. No family suites.

Review 123:Beautiful facility. Breakfast great. Fantastic location in city center.

Review 124:Internet connection (wifi) in room was non-existent. We specifically booked a hotel with Internet and found it to be very weak and un-useable. Also no way of cooling or circulating air in the room. Only windows, no fan.

Review 125:Great location just by the Porta Nigra. Lots of restaurants and food nearby. Just slightly off-site free parking is a plus. Great bathroom with a large shower. Good breakfast in the morning.

Review 126:Street noise. We were on the third floor , on a street side, and had to open windows to get the room cool enough, but alot of street noise from people more than cars. The room really was comfortable though. We were there in between seasons.

Review 127:Was very easy to get to everything. Quiet and pleasant hotel. Had dinner one evening and the food was excellant. Breakfasts were great. Our room was tiny but all we needed and very clean. Suited our needs for just 3 nights.

Review 128:Location is fantastic arrived by train and walked to it in 5 minutes.Close to the city for easy access to restaurants. Food here metexpectations and was not too pricy City interesting and good locationto stay for easy access to Luxembourg. Hotel also has a unique styleand character

Review 129:Partition of the shower above the bath and mattresses in our room could be better.

Review 130:Position next to the Porta Nigra is excellent. Included parking is nearby with a lock-up gate. The hotel is well equipped. We had a lovely asparagus soup for lunch. When packing, I left the white mouse of my computer amongst the white bed sheets. It was found and send to my next address. Very nice.

Review 131:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everyone could speak English. Great breakfast of bread cheese meats granola coffee juice etc included with price of room. So much food you could skip lunch. Location is great next to Porta Nigra. Would definitely stay there again if in Trier.
