Reviews for Coso Viejo

Review 1:The room with a view was nice but a little noisy... so we chose one overlooking the courtyard instead. This was very small! There's nowhere to hang out in the hotel except the courtyard, which is covered: it must be really nice in warm weather but in the winter it was too cold... so it was the bed or the bar!

Review 2:A nice old building, like an old palace. Staff were friendly, situation nice and bar just beside is also friendly and nice to hang out in.

Review 3:On site parking is tight, you need to know your car dimensions.

Review 4:The foyer and reception area are so nice and old fashioned with marble and a fountain We had a room with a view on the first floor that while small was so comfortable. My wife fell asleep on the bed after we arrived and had a lovely dream about the room.

Review 5:The room was an internal one with no outside window.

Review 6:This is a very nice hotel with good facilities and excellent décor, garage parking, and a bargain in the town centre.

Review 7:The Day staf does not speak english. Our passports were kept at the reception and we forgot Them. That kost us 500km.

Review 8:It is in the town center. A very nice old hotel with atmosfære.

Review 9:Getting to some rooms is like a maze and it takes a while with the shortest path. I'm afraid that escaping an eventual fire in the way is kind of impossible.

Review 10:Excellent location at the beginning of the old town. Free huge public parking nearby.

Review 11:Lovely setting overlooking the plaza.Cheap snacks/water/soft drinks& beer available at reception.Very cheap price for a night even though it was during 'fiesta 'the hotel management could have doubled the price ( most do!)

Review 12:The airco didn't work (or we didn't know how to) and the bed was a bit small - but still: a lot of value for money

Review 13:Location is perfect, parking for a reasonable prize and a nice bath

Review 14:If you use a car to get there and use the parking facilites of the hotel every time you need to get in you'll have to go to reception first to ask them to open the parking gates since they don't provide you with a key or remote to open them as other hotels do.

Review 15:The hotel was close to all main landmarks inside the city but if you think of visiting the various beautiful natural sceneries around the city, then you need a car.

Review 16:Central position, attractive reception / atrium , friendly staff .I hadn't booked meals and eat out. Clean rooms, old CRT TV with some satellite channels. WiFi reception was good. Bed was a bit hard for me. Hot drinks available 24h in reception area. Safe cycle storage

Review 17:The fridge did not work and the window did not close properly so we were kept awake by external noise. When we stayed before (twice), we had breakfast in the Hotel. When we went down we were told it was now served in the Bar next door, so we went to a coffee shop instead.

Review 18:The staff were great and it was perfect for meeting family in Antequera.

Review 19:The windows opened on the hallways, so no fresh air and too much light at night.

Review 20:The bed were excellent. Nice atmosphere in Spanish townhouse with patio. Parking at location possible. Good location in small but pretty town.

Review 21:Nothing to dislike

Review 22:Upgraded room with view had lovely bathroom. View over pretty square is superb. Hotel owned restaurant/bar next door is very good don't miss a meal in there.Unspoilt town great views from castle.

Review 23:We were not able to come for the days booked due to the passing away of my father. When we tried to reschedule because of the sad and unexpected circumstances of our cancellation we were refused without any compassion or consideration. We have just spent the weekend instead at the nearby Arte De Cozina which was warm and friendly and which we will visit again. We will not book at the Coso Viejo again.

Review 24:Reception didn't speak English but tried hard to help :)

Review 25:Close to the castle and city as well. Very moody hotel and good equipped. Free parking place 3-400 m in a parking lot.

Review 26:Has central courtyard 3 floors high with reception in one corner on ground floor. Very noisy. All comings and goings were amplified as all rooms have windows onto the courtyard atrium. In adequate bedding for cold nights.

Review 27:Location

Review 28:Somewhat gloomy inside and the bedroom was cramped. January and cold - the receptionist was suffering!.

Review 29:Location ideal for sightseeing and value for money good. Important for us were the parking arrangements which were good. Even though we had a room overlooking the street, noise levels were not intrusive.

Review 30:The appalling noise emanating from the restaurant downstairs which went on till 2 in the morning with no consideration for the guests trying to sleep upstairs.

Review 31:THE LOCATION

Review 32:A kettle in the room would have been good

Review 33:The view over the square was incredible The location was perfect - extremely central and surrounded by great tapas bars

Review 34:room, particularly bathroom, was 4 star quality. View over square to castle on the hill beyod. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel with the best bar right next door.

Review 35:On arrival had to wait 20 minutes without even an acknowledgement for the receptionist to finish a telephone call. If we had not paid in advance we would have left after 5 minutes!

Review 36:Central position

Review 37:The hotel was not double glazed so it was very noisy with bars restaurants in close proximity. The shower was not working and when the man came to fix it, it was still not working. One bedroom side light did not work. The breakfast buffet was extremely poor, with a very untidy dining area that was not serviced.

Review 38:Location was excellent and the garage facility was good.

Review 39:Advertised as a three star hotel, even though we booked this Hotel inadvance the bedrooms we were assigned were nothing like the onespictured on the Booking.com Website or on the Hotel's own Website. The rooms which were on the first floor were small and looked out overrooftops. They were dark and dreary. In the first room the safe did notwork, there was nothing in the minibar and the mattress on the bed wasthin and not very comfortable. The second room had a ladder which youhad to climb if you wanted to open the window. The bathrooms wereadequate. Breakfast was only fair. There was an apple in the middle of afruit bowl and the apple was half rotten - not good presentation. Whenwe reserved the Hotel the Booking.com website said that Breakfast was 5euro extra per person. When we went to settle the bill we were charged 7euro. When I queried the cost I was told that it had increased inSeptember. I asked why they didn't inform impending customers aboutthe change but was not given an answer. Breakfast was not good andwasn't even worth 5 euro per person not to mind 7 euro. Not 3 Star!

Review 40:The Hotel was in a great location and had adjacent private parking. Weate Dinner in the Hotel Restaurant, the food was good, prices werereasonable. You must try the 'Tarta Abuela' - called'Grannies Chocolate Cake in English.

Review 41:Arrived at this hotel having booked last minute via booking.com only to find they had no rooms. Although I understand that mistakes like this do occasionally occur, it was dealt with very badly by the staff to the general impression that it was our tough luck and please move on. As if this wasn't bad enough, on my return home I discovered my credit card had been charged for the room that we never even saw! I have pursued this through booking.com but to no avail

Review 42:Didn't get to enjoy anything!

Review 43:Noise from restaurant downstairs and square outside most of night Lack of decent shutters or dark curtains Overly firm mattress

Review 44:Location in centre of city Rooms facing square had great views Price - very reasonable

Review 45:The only negative for us was the small room - but for the price we cant really grumble.

Review 46:location, décor, cleanliness. The view over the square to the fortress. Superb value for money and ideal for a two or three day stopover. Very central within the town and probably one of the best bars / restaurants in town next door. The staff were helpful.

Review 47:The only room in my window was at the patio side. That was very noisy, even when I slept with the window closed. The room was very dark. Which is good to keep the heat out, but is was just really dark. I didn't think all staffmembers were service orientated.

Review 48:Location, look of the patio

Review 49:Window looking at the corridor but it was not a problem because we had air con.

Review 50:We were amazed when we reached this hotel. The price was a bargain for the quality. Very clean and modern. The staff was also very friendly.

Review 51:Had to move rooms as air conditioning wasn't working in room and when I opened the window there was a generator outside the window blowing in hot air!! The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, there was an open used sops and hair in the sink!!!

Review 52:Location was fab

Review 53:Hassle with the key card...spent 40 minutes trying to get into the room. If it is faulty on day one get it changed.

Review 54:Delightful courtyard with a fountain, great location to see all the sights and across from the main square so you can dine al fresco.

Review 55:The rooms/facilities were a little run down, and could do with refreshing.

Review 56:The hotel's location in the town square, next to a brilliant restaurant.

Review 57:Wifi wasn't working.

Review 58:It was located right in the centre within a walking distance of all the monuments we wanted to see. Nice and calming ambience. Our twin room was spacious and very clean, made the stay a relaxing experience.

Review 59:air conditioning a bit suspect, room a little dark (no view) and noisy last night.

Review 60:lovely building, great location, nice staff, peaceful atmosphere. helpful directions.

Review 61:-the room we got was not according to our expectation -the staff should know some English or other language as to make any conversation possible

Review 62:location

Review 63:No complaints at all.

Review 64:The square the hotel is situated is fantastic and the restaurant next door is very good. The city tour bus is an excellent service and should be used.

Review 65:Car parking charge of 10 Euros per night - although not uncommon in most Spanish cities/towns I've visited. Satellite TV only had 2 channels! Restaurant not open in the evenings, although the alternative staff recommended next door was excellent. Ate there every night and for breakfast.

Review 66:Very helpful and friendly staff. Central and relatively quiet location.

Review 67:Not all reception staff speak fluent English, so a working knowledge of Spanish or a good phrase book could come in handy.

Review 68:Superb location in the old town, close to both the castle & cathedral and the main shopping area, with secure parking available. Staff were helpful and rooms (double for single occupancy) were good size.

Review 69:The huge wooden doors of the hotel rooms were quite heavy and you needed to pull or push the door shut causing a loud bang. So it was hard to have a good night sleep because of the banging of the other doors thru the night and early morning. ...very annoying...even with earplugs. You could also hear people talking in the hallways and surprisingly even across the other section thru the windows. The rooms are so small that with suitcases it was hard to move about. One long pillow shared by two people was uncomfortable.

Review 70:The staff was very helpful and the inner courtyard is pretty. It was also very near the Alcazar and many churches. The bathroom was large...almost the same size as the bedroom. Loved that. Also great breakfast buffet! Parking garage beside the hotel is a big plus.

Review 71:The emergency need for them to have to call a tanker to empty the sewer beneath the restaurant. It took the best part of an hour and drove us from our room! However we hope this was an isolated incident and no other guests will have a similar experience.

Review 72:The outlook onto the Plaza with view of the Alcazar. Free overnight parking between 20.00 and 08.00 Proximity to places of interest and many eating places that weren't touristy.

Review 73:The hotel was very central and the view from our window was over the main square, The private parking was only 10 euros per day. Near to all bars and restaurants. No trouble with finding the hotel, booking.com instructions were spot on. Would stay here at any time.

Review 74:Great location, right in the centre, close to shops and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 75:Perfect location, good tapas bar at neighborhood, reasonable price.

Review 76:rooms too small

Review 77:Poor matrass and very noisy. No fresh air, because we didn't have a window to the streetside.
