Reviews for Hostal Colon Antequera

Review 1:It is difficult to park outside the hotel to check & arrange parking. After check out we still had to return the garage key & would have appreciated a different arrangement as stopping on the street to get it back to reception was quite tricky.

Review 2:Location is excellent. Secure parking is good for 7 euro. Quirky & interesting tardis of a building. Does need upgrading but it's ok for the price. Wifi intermittent on 3rd floor. Comfortable beds. Warm bedding for a January stay.

Review 3:Place needs a little maintenance ie lightbulb not working.Just Spanish channels on TV but I found that everywhere for that sort of price of place.TV could be a little lower down on the wall.

Review 4:Very quiet room .Comfortable bed with duvet. I was given a double room.Aircon style heating.Fridge in room but too noisy to leave on at night.Armchair in room. Not sure if any rooms open on to street so they may all be quiet.

Review 5:Bathroom was not as clean as expected, but for the price, can't complain too much.

Review 6:Great central location, quiet rooms, friendly staff. Room was cleaned/tided daily.

Review 7:No complaints.

Review 8:The hostal was very clean & close to the heart of the old town. The room & bathroom were very large & contained all that we needed for our short stay. We booked the parking place because finding a space to park is very difficult. The staff were friendly. There is a breakfast bar oposite which does good coffee & molletes.

Review 9:Nothing to complain about. Very good for a nights stay.

Review 10:Excellent location and comfortable bed. Very good restaurants close by and easy to find parking close to the hostal.

Review 11:Availability of private offstreet parking nearby (essential in this town). Friendly helpful staff. Building itself is full of antiquities. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.

Review 12:WiFi flaky on top floor.

Review 13:Stayed here five times before. Qwerky and comfortable. If you want flashy reception, pointless add ons and chrome furniture go elsewhere!

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Friendly staff and excellent room with own bathroom. Bed really comfy. Antequera is a beautiful little town with loads of bars, an amazing fortress and a great relaxing atmosphere. My second visit to this great little hostel.

Review 16:The chap booking us in was miserable and not at all helpful but to be fair the staff the next morning were very nice

Review 17:Interesting hotel, good shower and clean

Review 18:Hostal Colon is, apparently, an institution at Antequera. Now we now why - super cheerful staff, very large bedrooms with private bathrooms and parqueted floor, a very charming place, cheap, with all possible amenities including good wifi and a minibar, in the heart of the city. Must stay at Antequera.

Review 19:There is nothing to dislike about this hotel in particular or Antequera in general.

Review 20:Everything, it is a very charming place which we have now stayed at on more than one occasion and will do so again.

Review 21:need to book car parking on weekdays

Review 22:Very helpful reception staff. Central position surprisingly quiet in a room overlooking the main road due to 2 sets of double doors to balcony.

Review 23:The parking is a little far away but nothing too difficult as the town is very limited with parking.

Review 24:When I arrived, the staff were so friendly and quick to show me where the car park was. We were put in what seemed to be the master suite which exceeded our expectations, it was like being in a 5star hotel when we expected a Normal hostel. Location is right in the centre and walking distance to supermarkets and restaurants. Would definitely recommend

Review 25:No wi fi in rooms. No dvd, microwave, bath. Safe wasn't able to be used as they couldn't find the key to unlock it. Toiletries consisted of shampoo only.

Review 26:Theresa the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. Very large bedroom. Central location.

Review 27:We liked everything. Girl on the reception desk was very polite. She allowed us to change the room without charge. We got great view on the street, small balcony and terrace. Everyone was polite always ready to give information we need. The room was big and very clean. We would recommend Antequera and Hostal Colon to everyone.

Review 28:The staff don ´t speak english

Review 29:Great location, great big rooms, aircondition, very nice hostel, better than hotels around. Ask for room n.51 :) Nice terase...

Review 39:Real world comfort and character

Review 40:no English tv channel

Review 41:location

Review 42:Comfortable

Review 43:Lack of any kitchen facilities, only very poor fridge in the room.

Review 44:The furniture in the rooms are very nice. The location in the city center.

Review 45:leaking air conditioner.

Review 46:great location, big spacious room, lovely and helpful staff, a safe in the room.

Review 47:Location in city. Good staff with excellent english.

Review 48:Nothing

Review 49:Everything

Review 50:Nothing!

Review 51:It's soo quirky!

Review 52:Superb location close to all the tapas bars. Amazing Hostal which has areal Spanish feel with patios, pictures and fresh flowers in thehallways. Superb and friendly staff- English speaking too. Lovely bigroom with en suite bathroom. Room even had a mini fridge. Good Wi-Fireception in the Wi-Fi zones in the hallways.

Review 53:Disturbed by noise from what seemed to be a school group but this could happen anywhere.

Review 54:Beautiful surroundings with attention to detail in the decor. Spacious bathroom and having a refrigerator was great. Receptionist speaks good English and was very pleasant, cheerful and helpful. Excellent Chinese retaurant just around the corner.

Review 55:Our room was on the inside, the window opened to the courtyard, and sometimes the voices and noises from other rooms was loud.

Review 56:The front desk staff was very helpful and available, guiding us to some great eating experiences. The rooms were clean and there was a safe for valuables. A great value for the price!

Review 57:The Wi-Fi worked only near the door so couldn't use the great desk(s).

Review 58:Wonderful big room with desk, fridge and all. Location in the very center of Antequera is perfect but room facing the main street a bit noisy. Very friendly and smiling staff. There is parking somewhere further which we didn't need because found a space just in front of the Hostal. (Some kind of a miracle).

Review 59:Everything, it is listed as a 1* hostel but is more like a 3* hotel and it has great charm because it is filled with antiques on every floor. Our room was large with en-suite facilities, a small balcony and a terrace between our room and that of our friends who accompanied us. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 60:Ants invaded our room (and even the fridge). Be sure to keep an eye on the garage door. We were a bit slow (first day in a rental car), and the door started to close while the car was in the doorway...

Review 61:Friendly owners. There are fridges in the rooms (a bit loud, though), a water boiler and a microwave. You are supposed to bring your own cups, though.

Review 62:Parking is the only issue. €5 parking in garage was handy

Review 63:Friendly staff, no problems with the hotel. Dogs are liked and welcomewith no extra charge

Review 64:Smell of smoke in communal areas (though okay in non-smoking room). Expensive parking unless you find something on-street. Poor wifi signal in room. Kettle provided for guests' use was cracked, causing risk of scalding by steam.

Review 65:Large, comfortable room at a good price. Helpful staff.

Review 66:I traveled alone and rented a single persons room. It had a two-persons bed tough, which is probably more expensive than a single-bedded room. Maybe they don't rent them, but then I think I should be at least informed about that.

Review 67:The room was perfectly clean, with a connection to the internet, a television and an own bathroom. The bed was amazingly comfortable. And the ladies behind the counter were very friendly. Compliments!

Review 68:Our room was a bit noisy during the day but night time was quiet. We did have a choice to take an inside room which would have been quieter

Review 69:The room was spacious, nicely decorated Spanish style, french windows. Enormous bed, clean and well equipped bathroom. Also had a lift. Fantastic value for money.

Review 70:That we needed to leave.

Review 71:In one word fantastic! The exterior does not even give a hint of how great this place is. The staff s very friendly, we dealt with a younger lady and a older woman. The room was gigantic, clean, and on a good location on a central road. The hostals own parking is cheap and a must if you go with your own car. Street parking in this area is nearly impossible. Also, go eat at the restaurant opposite the square near the tourist info. Ask the hostel staff for directions.

Review 72:Very nice staff, lots of interesting furniture and memorabilia. Nicelittle courtyards and lots if computers to use foc. Easy to get lostinside but in a nice way. Would stay again. Location is great also.

Review 73:This place is just amazing. I had planned to stay only one night, i finally decided to stay 2. Everybody was very nice, helpful. I felt like in a family

Review 74:Not being able to park on the premises - next time we will ask about the hotel parking which is supposed to be nearby but we haven't enquired yet.

Review 75:This is our third visit, so we must like the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel homely and quaint - extremely good value for money. Every room is different making it much more interesting than hotel chains.

Review 76:Street noise

Review 77:The Hostal Colon is on a busy main street in Antequera. All the attractions of this fine historical town are easily accessible from this central location. My wife, and I stayed four nights in a large double room with a small balcony. The en-suite room was very comfortable and spacious, the bed was very good and bathroom facilities were modern and kept to high standard. The daily cleaning and hard floor washing verged on the obsessive. We cannot fault the Colon on any point of housekeeping. The staff were most helpful and generous with their interest and kindness. Terese has very good English and she took care of most of our inquiries. All of the staff, including those with limited English, were very helpful at all times. Breakfast is not available here, however, there are many cafes in the vicinity. We have been in three star hotels that do not match the standards set by Hostal Colon. Do not be put off by references to 'hostal' or 'pension' - these titles are misleading. This is a fine budget hotel - it operates like a hotel, it simply, does not have a lounge,or restaurant. We slept well here, apart from street noise on the Saturday night. If this concerns you, you may wish to inquire about a quieter room overlooking the tiny internal patio. Overall, then, terrific value-for-money.

Review 78:Nothing to dislike really, as long as you are not expecting luxury it is a good place to stay (that said, the bed was actually very comfortable).

Review 79:A quirky place, full of character and lots of antique furniture in the many public areas. Loads of charm and super friendly staff. Rooms are not luxurious and there was a fair bit of noise on the Saturday night we stayed, but it is remarkable value for money and we loved it.And the wi-fi worked.

Review 80:It's very cute and well taken care of. Spacious, clean, tastefullydecorated. Good facilities in the room (tv, wifi, hairdryer, minifridge). The staff was efficient and pleasant. Good location. My roomfaced the inner patio and was quiet. This place is great and I am veryglad to have found it !!!

Review 81:Problems with the loo that would not flush. We changed rooms but stll had the sae problem. In the end we asked for a bucket so that we could top up the cistern ourselves.

Review 82:Quirky old fashioned traditional Spanish hostal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Situated right in the heart of the town and close to all amenities. Bed linen and towels clean and fresh. Comfortable beds and pillows.

Review 83:Not really a dislike, but the bar across the road could cause a problem. Didn´t worry us. Get a room at the back if you think it might be an issue.

Review 84:Excellent value for money. Central location, lovely old building. Friendly staff. Good cheap restaurants nearby.

Review 85:nothing to say

Review 86:in the city central, near castle, good connection by bus with Malaga, friendly staff, good amenities in the room like airconditioning and refrigerator, relaxing atmosphere, free wifi

Review 87:No fire escape route / hotel layout is like a maze, beds verycrappy, not very clean, no dvd player as promised, very outdated, wasnon-smoking room with ashtray and very smelly. No parking spot asreserved, did get refund on the parking costs.

Review 88:Size of the room / bathroom. Nice staff

Review 89:Bathroom needs updating, a bit neglected looking.

Review 90:Very good location, lots of bars' restaurants, shops on doorstep.nice old building with lots of character.

Review 91:My room had glass bricks on the aisle side, so every time people put on the light, I had light in my room too! A lot of noise of new guests in the night. People smoking (a lot) in the non-smoking rooms, with smoke filling the aisle and the staff didn't do anything about it.

Review 92:Good location. Reasonable price.

Review 93:Fantastic location Family run Charming real Spanish hotel Pleasantprosperous clean working Spanish town. Fantastic castle, good localrestaurants.Very welcoming people . would recommend without hesitation.

Review 94:- Bathroom is not brought up-to-date standards

Review 95:- Good location in the middle of the center - Parking facility of the hotel (small price) - Ambience of '20 last century

Review 96:Our room was on the street side, so opening the windows was not really an option as the street is quite noisy.

Review 97:We stayed in a big room (nr 33), which was very comfortable. Friendly staff, and room was very satisfying.

Review 98:When we checked in, we went to our rooms and the doors were opened... There were no bath towels in the room.

Review 99:The staff were really friendly, and the hotel is really well located.

Review 100:Great hotel, friendly people, beautiful city and close to El Torcal. Would definitely recommend!

Review 101:Parking and no lift

Review 102:Location

Review 103:Wifi signal wasn't the greatest.

Review 104:Nothing to add, everything was as we wanted it.

Review 105:The hotel is well located. The room had air conditioning, a little fridge and wifi.

Review 106:thete is no breakfast meals and the wifi is very poor

Review 107:Staff very friendly and helpful. Very spacious, clean room with comfortable bed. Excellent location.

Review 108:A bit tired and not too clean

Review 109:The podition of the hotel. Friendly staff very cheap

Review 110:we really had a good time

Review 111:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Excellent value for the money. Beutiful friendly town with a lot to see and do.
