Reviews for Hotel Cityplaza

Review 1:Location and noise from the street (bus station - road next door). Price for the room was extreme for the overall value.

Review 2:The check-in lady was the most friendly person I have come across in a long time

Review 3:It was bit loud because the room overlooked a busy street.

Review 4:The bed was very comfortable. The hotel provided a free shuttle from airport to the hotel because we landed late.

Review 5:The neighborhood.

Review 6:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Having the restaurant in the hotel made it easy to find food and the food was well prepared.

Review 7:The lighting in the room was very low making reading difficult.

Review 8:Our room was very large with plenty of amenities. The location was excellent only about 6 blocks to the malecon. Close to restaurants and shopping.

Review 9:Hotel Citiplaza is in the central area, which is fairly congested.

Review 10:The staff was very helpful. The room was very clean. Breakfast had fresh fruit and was very good.

Review 11:We had the Presidential Room on 4th floor. This is a corner room with views of the city. Balconies were very nice. The room is huge with plenty of room. Breakfast was excellent and included in price. We will stay again.

Review 12:At the time we were staying at the hotel, there was a large youth group made noise all night (ran through the corridors, shouting) and although we asked to handle the issue, not treated ...

Review 13:Location

Review 14:the stuff was friendly

Review 15:Noisy.

Review 16:Location, breakfast, staff

Review 17:Location, Friendliness of Staff, Ease of Access to Guayaquil's attractions

Review 18:Unstable wifi signal.

Review 19:Location, adecuate price

Review 20:The breakfast buffet was only fair. The bellman was not very friendly.

Review 21:The hotel is very attractive and the rooms are pleasant.

Review 22:Convenient location for all tourist attractions.

Review 23:Breakfast choice was limited but still nice..

Review 24:Great location, decent sized rooms, very clean and very helpful, friendly staff..

Review 25:The bathroom smelt pretty bad and obviously the room. Noisy but in general Ecuador is too noisy

Review 26:Location. The room was really big and comfortable.

Review 27:Laundry service was very expensive, the most expensive we ever paid for in 7 months in South America.

Review 28:We've stayed at this hotel twice. The first time we asked them to pick us up at the bus station because we we were arriving at night after a 29-hour bus ride from Lima and, although they don't offer that service, they did make an exception and came to meet us. Our bus arrived over an hour late and the manager Edison and the driver were still there waiting for us when we arrived. Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful and they steered us to a good travel agent when we were looking for a discounted Galapagos cruise. The hotel itself is new and spotlessly clean. The room was very spacious and had a fridge and safe and great AC. The restaurant downstairs was a bit pricey, but breakfast is included in the price of the room and when we were there, the selection was always good (fruit, juice, eggs, toasted bread, jam, quiche most days and coffee cake. Coffee was plentiful. The hotel is located just a couple of blocks from 9th of October St. and from there you can get to the Malecon in just 10 minutes on foot. The second time we stayed there was when we returned from our cruise. For the same price they gave us an even bigger room with a nice sitting area. Highly recommend.

Review 29:Dinner menu overpriced.

Review 30:Staff good to excellent, helpful and front desk speak English. Central convenient location. Reasonable price/value. Very good breakfast.

Review 31:The complimentary breakfast was great everyday but it's always an American style breakfast. Would be nice to have some breakfast native to Ecuador. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Review 32:Everything about our stay was fantastic! They picked us up at the airport and had our room ready earlier than normal check ins since we had such an early flight. The staff is very knowledgable and knows English. We are able to get by with our Spanish but it was nice to be able to speak in English as well. They were very knowledgeable about the area and were very accommodating to anything we needed. We had room service the first night and the food was delicious! The king sized bed was quite the delight for my husband and I as we were pampering ourselves before leaving to spend a week in the Amazon. It was walking distance from all the main attractions. Complimentary breakfast always comes with 2 selections of fresh delicious juice, and they change everyday! I highly reccomend this hotel to the young and old alike for a relaxing and fun time in Guayaquil.

Review 33:The streets and sidewalks were dirty and large holes could be found every where. River was polluted.

Review 34:The hotel picked us up at the airport free and only charged $5.00 to take us back to airport. Breakfast was very good had lots of hot and cold items. Washington was so very helpful and spoke English. We had a problem with boarding passes and he called and worked thru the confusion. Room was large and bed very comfortable it was so clean. Walked to Malecon (waterfront) which was so nice and family oriented, beautiful gardens.

Review 35:Champagnes in room was bad....refrigerator was not turned on every thing warm ...staff brought ice to room

Review 36:Shuttle from the airport....great...staff very helpful in recommending city tours and places to go

Review 37:this has not single star faciality this is bed and breakfast hotel have 28 room 7x4. Pls dont book as a 4 star hotel this hotel shud be cost less then 50 dollars

Review 38:Neet and clean bed and breakfast hotel

Review 39:It would have been nice to have more electrical sockets, especially near the bed. We had to unplug a couple of lamps on the other side of the room to charge up the laptop and camera batteries.

Review 40:We had a corner deluxe room. It was very spacious with a very comfortable king-sized bed. The bathroom was large with a shower and a separate bath with double basins and included a hair dryer and toiletries. It was very clean. The staff are very helpful and speak English. Very close to the main streets and the Malecon. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good. We ate there the 3 nights we stayed at the hotel after being out all day. We enjoyed staying there very much.

Review 41:the location is not very good, in a old place, and the power supply had been cut off in one of our night.

Review 42:the staff is nice. and the food is also good, especially in dinner.

Review 43:Noisy as you can expect at the city center. Dirty floors in the rooms-really dirty.

Review 44:Good hotel, rooms are pretty cozy, services are ok, clean bathroom withhot water.

Review 45:The bathroom is very nice but the only two small complaints I have are in the bathroom. #1 no backup roll of toilet paper. #2 they don't give you shampoo and conditioner. They give you bars of soap and there is a liquid soap pump in the shower but I think it's soap not shampoo.

Review 46:I got the deluxe room which was very spacious with a king size bed and a sofa bed. I had a corner room. The bathroom is large and clean with two sinks. The location is great. Walking distance to 9 de Octobre and the Malacone. The staff is very friendly and they speak English. It's a modern hotel with RFID key cards. The included breakfast really surprised me. It was different every day. Three hot items: eggs, meat and a third hot item. Fresh fruit. 2 different juices everyday. Spinach pie. Something you would be willing to pay for but it's included. The cab situation can be dangerous in Ecuador. My girlfriend was robbed in a yellow cab. The hotel has a contract with a local cab company. You call the hotel and they arrange a cab for you. You start seeing the same cab drivers over and over again and it's very safe. It only takes 5-15 minutes. They are pretty cheap $3 for a short ride $10 if you are going far. I would say $5 is the norm. I really liked that the hotel went through all that trouble to make sure I was safe. I travel a lot and I've been to a lot of countries in South America. This hotel impressed me more then anywhere else I've been. I don't normally write reviews because it's not worth my time but this place really deserves it.

Review 47:Getting pricier. Non-front office staff do not speak English, contrary to review(not a problem for me). Neighborhood is rather grubby and unsafe after dark. Street sidewalks in area are a disaster zone. TV needs an English news channel or two.

Review 48:good service, very pleasant and helpful, information good and helpful w map. Breakfast very good value. Quiet, secure, w electronic safes in rooms.

Review 49:No free electrical plug in room.you must leave room key in slot in room at all times for electricity to work. I was not told this at time of check in .

Review 50:MoSt all ok.

Review 51:Right on edge of old, dumpy part of town. To begin with we were wondering if it was a safe place to stay. Once we were there, our concerns were alleviated.

Review 52:Close to nice part of town, tourist attractions. Room was great and breakfast was very nice.

Review 53:Staff were extremely accommodating and location was great. Easy walk toMalecon. Even hough I had had no direct contact with the hotel (justbooked through Booking.com) someone was at the airport to meet us.

Review 54:construction going on down below so noisy during day.. as well as major street for bus traffic, by its location.... so noise from tv helps to filter out the noise below.. maybe ask for side not facing bus station..

Review 55:easy to get in and out.. Room was clean, quiet.. all the basics - AC and Cable TV, Wifi was fine.. breakfast was simple buffet..and had most of same things that all medium price hotels in ECU have.. nothing special.

Review 56:The showers were tiny and made me feel claustrophobic. The walls were so thin that I barely slept all night from hearing all the traffic and whistles.

Review 57:The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was very helpful.

Review 58:Car service that the hotel offers, rude and terrible driver

Review 59:Excellent location Very helpful friendly staff that spoke good English Great value for money

Review 60:When we booked, we mentioned we would be arriving "about8p.M." We were pleasantly surprised to find someone from the hotelwaiting for us at the airport with free shuttle service. Everyone spokeEnglish. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good. Front desk helpedus with our van reservations to Manta and arranged a cab to take usthere. Wonderful service.

Review 61:My air conditioner broke and was leaking water all over the floor. As a resut, I have to sleep in a tiny room with an uncomfortable single bed. I am not upset with the hotel becuae they were full and it was the only option. But, I do think they should have give me a credit on my bill instead of charging me for a full double room that I could not use.

Review 62:The staff was fantastic. Nelson the desk receptionist and Roberto in the restaurant were outstanding. All of the staff was very accommodating, positive and they really made the hotel.

Review 63:Internet is not fast enought to use Skype in the room, breakfast isexcellent and the whole hotel is very clean.

Review 68:The room (a suite) was big, comfortable, well kept with nice furniture and clean and not much more expensive than an ordinary room. The restaurant in the hotel is very good.

Review 69:parking is off premise but staff helped out well.

Review 70:hotel was in a good location in guayaquil. room was spacious and modern. breakfast included was good. walking distance of the river and the boardwalk.

Review 71:Despite asking for shuttle to airport in early am front desk staff tried to call us a taxi.

Review 72:Pickup from the airport was excellent - very nice staff member. Hotel was great about keeping our extra bags while we were in Galapagos, breakfast was excellent,

Review 73:The staff was exceptional. Free shuttle pick up from airport & using the shuttle for a ride back to airport was reasonably priced. If the shuttle was not running the front desk arranged for a taxi. IThe restaurant was good, & convenient. The bed comfortable. It is a good central location for walking to the Malacon .
